How exactly does Smartling help to automate? Why does that matter?
For many brands, the primary goal is finding a balance that maximizes speed to market and quality. Speed to market is increased by process automation and technical integrations to remove all manual tasks traditionally involved with translation. And, ultimately, both speed to market and quality are improved when translators are given the right tools (Smartling’s visual context, style guides, glossaries, etc.) that allow them to produce the correct translation the first time.
Improving the translation process starts with getting content into the Smartling platform. We offer many ways to do this, including a suite of Connectors to leading content platforms, a REST API to build a custom integration, a Web proxy called the Global Delivery Network, an over-the-air mobile update service called the Mobile Delivery Network, and a web portal to submit documents for translation. Once the content is in Smartling, automation takes over to move it through the workflow, eliminating unnecessary human intervention and drastically improving turnaround time.
It is further important to break the dependencies that exist between content development and content release cycles. Traditionally, translation has been the bottleneck for new releases; however, technology can enable an agile approach to multilingual content delivery.
Lastly, data can be used to suggest optimal translation processes to ensure the customer is investing the right amount of time and aligning the right resources with the translation process.
