"Simple and Effective (Although Nothing More!)"

What do you like best?

Amazon Web Services WorkMail is incredibly easy to set up and maintain given its enterprise grade mail features such as the inclusion of the Exchange protocol. It is also very simple to use, meaning end-users will have very few problems using the service, despite, most probably, having never used it before given its currently limited uptake. Furthermore, the pricing seems fair for what the service is - it's certainly not an absolute steal, but I wouldn't say that's overpriced by any means.

What do you dislike?

While delivering a solid and scalable enterprise email solution, Amazon Work Mail does not go above and beyond in the email world. It does indeed lack any degree of innovation, and does not seem to offer anything new compared with the existing market leaders in the hosted email industry. Having said that, this isn't necessarily a bad thing given its typical enterprise use where familiarity and stability is typically favoured over bleeding edge innovation.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Given the low cost and high flexibility of the product, just try setting up an account and have a play with the software to gain your own thoughts on it!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Amazon WorkMail is used in our business to provide enterprise grade email to our clients extremely quickly and thus flexibly, ensuring that we are able to deliver a service as soon as the boarding call is complete. The benefits of this are numerous, including pleasing our clients with our impressive implementation times, saving IT department time due to the quick setup facilities of Amazon WorkMail and most importantly the ability to deliver a service that scales with our clients demands, being able to promptly add and remove accounts at the touch of a button.

"Amazon WorkMail is awesome! ! ! ! ! ! !"

What do you like best?

Amazon WorkMail is very fast, super easy to use, helps with organization, always updates without any trouble, you do not get alot of spam emails, and not to mention who doesn't like AMAZON products?

What do you dislike?

I can honestly say that I do not have any complaints. Once I figured the system out and what all it does I absolutely love it! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Recommendations to others considering the product

Anything that AMAZON has is amazing!!!!!!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Not having to be on the chat constantly, helps organize my millions of emails, groups of people that you email a lot can be put into one group so that you do not have to type their names every time you start a new email. Emails come in and go out very quickly instead of waiting around to send and receive.

What Email solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Amazon WorkMail Simple, Robust and Easy To Use"

What do you like best?

AWS WorkMail is incredibly easy to to configure, with just few clicks you have a solid, enterprise grade mail service for your business. If you are already using Route53 to host your domain then all the MX, SPF and DKIM records are added automatically. I also like the fact that AWS WorkMail uses the Exchange protocol meaning integrations with Microsoft Outlook and the OS X mail client are totally seamless, providing a great alternative to hosting your own mail services.

What do you dislike?

Unfortunately AWS WorkMail does not support POP3 or IMAP connections meaning you do need to use an exchange compatible mail client such as Outlook and I have yet to be able to get this to work on Linux, though there is a web mail address that you can load in any modern browser. This also poses a problem if you wanted to use the mailbox in any kind of automation that requires a POP3 or IMAP connection.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be careful if you need to support Linux clients as they will need to use the web mail client as apposed to a desktop client. It is compatible with OS x though.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I wanted to have reliable mail service for my company that is scalable and easy to manage. Using AWS WorkMail means I don't need to waste time looking after my own mail server. AWS WorkMail also allows me to access my company mail from anywhere I access to the Internet and a web browser

"Amazon WorkMail Is Solid If Unexciting "

What do you like best?

Amazon WorkMail is a great alternative for a business that needs scalable email without all of the bells and whistles. It is particularly useful if you are already using Amazon WorkSpaces or WorkDocs.

Amazon WorkMail works with all major mobile devices and operating systems that support the Exchange ActiveSync protocol, including the Apple iPad, Apple iPhone, Amazon Kindle Fire, Android, Windows Phone, and BlackBerry 10. You can access Amazon WorkMail from Microsoft Outlook on Windows. You must have a valid Microsoft Outlook license to use it with Amazon WorkMail,

What do you dislike?

If you are not using AWS for something else that are incremental costs to using WorkMail. In addition, Amazon WorkMail requires one directory (you're limited to two AWS Directory Service directories per region) and one VPC (you're limited to a total of 5 VPCs per AWS region)

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are on AWS with something else already, and don't have G Suite or O365 this is a perfectly good alternative. Amazon WorkMail and Amazon WorkDocs can also be purchased together for $6 per user per month, when used in the same region

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have found that Amazon WorkMail is a secure, managed business email and calendaring service with support for existing desktop and mobile email clients. You can access your email, contacts, and calendars using Microsoft Outlook, your browser, or their native iOS and Android email applications. You can integrate Amazon WorkMail with your existing corporate directory and control both the keys that encrypt your data and the location in which your data is stored.

"Unworthy of AWS label"

What do you like best?

The web client does what it should do. You can edit and send mails. High volumes of mails are no problem.

What do you dislike?

IMAP: seems to be not working.

Outlook: close to impossible to get working.

iOS: hard to configure and intermittent time outs / slow downloads.

POP3: not supported.

Web client: it does not work on a small mobile screen.

Web client: having 10K of calendar items it takes 1 minute to load the calendar.

Recommendations to others considering the product

When you only need a web client for mails and have <50 users, it is OK. Otherwise I would consider another product which are similarly priced.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Migrate away from on-premise Exchange 2013 server with 20 users. No benefits realized; switched back to on-premise Exchange and will try Exchange Online as alternative.

"Amazon WorkMail Reivew by Daniel"

What do you like best?

Great interface and easy to use. I think it's a great alternative to Outlook if you don't need all the features that come with Outlook.

What do you dislike?

There's not much to dislike. My biggest annoyance is sometimes the format is weird after pasting an excel table.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I think the biggest benefit is cost reduction changing from other products like Outlook.

"WorkMail is great for small business at least"

What do you like best?

I like easy integration with the REST AWS services (e.g. SES, S3, DynamoDB, Lambda)

What do you dislike?

Amazon doesn't provide the cases of WorkMail usage by big enterprises. I want to know the current adoption rate.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Don't use quick configuration - it will create MailDirectory by default. It is not possible to use it for SSO. Use Simple directory at least.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Mail service as a service :) Exchange journaling. SSO by using AWS SimpleAD
