"Powerful simulation tool with (almost) unlimited capability"

What do you like best?

The depth to which it can be used to simulate anything.

The use of Java as a programming language

Current and future capabilities of using the cloud

Business objective is to create self- configurable models to ensure usability for various system configurations now and in the future

Replicate the real world complexity through the use of multiple simulation design paradigms specifically Agent-based and Discrete Event

Possible future use of AnyLogic Cloud to run resource-intensive models

What do you dislike?

Some limitations imposed on the software to cater for migration to the cloud

Scenario manager functionality is only available in the cloud

Recommendations to others considering the product

There is a vast bank of knowledge available on the web and since it is Java based you can find even more resources once you create very custom models.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It can consider all the critical interdependencies, complexities and variability in one system

It provides a range of likely outcomes for scenarios, the ability to do sensitivity analysis on parameters and direct scenario comparisons

It provides a safe environment for managers to test and experiment with policy and other changes that can potentially have consequential outcomes in real-life on safety, reputation or cash flow.

"Using Anylogic in Academia"

What do you like best?

The easiness to use and build different types of simulation models including System Dynamics! The sofware is user-friendly and there are several examples off the shelf to do many of the simulation model that we are interested in developing. The fact that we have several methods in the same tool allows for a good communication between those methods leading to even hybrid models.

What do you dislike?

The high cost of the professional version. There could be more collaboration with universities by giving the software for free for university thesis.

Recommendations to others considering the product

You want a tool that can do a lot of methods in the right way, this is it!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Developing scientific work.

What Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Comprehensive and flexible simulation software"

What do you like best?

The ability to combine various libraries is indeed a valued strength. For instance, when it comes to modelling individual behaviour of components within a process flow, I find the combination of discrete event simulation and agent-based modelling to be of particular interest.

What do you dislike?

I regret that the options to share models and experience is so limited - this has not to do with the cloud based option at AnyLogic; rather the very limited number of users.

More example/help models would be a great addition.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have developed a couple of discrete event simulation which analyzes specific capacity issues at my current workplace. These aid in answering management's concerns.

Currently, I am collaborating with the Technical University of Denmark creating a model which combines the Fluid - and Process Modelling Libraries in the attempt of tracking the use of ressources in outpatient clinics.
