What do you like best?
ARAS at that time required No Cash Investment to try and experiment with.
ARAS offered a lot of the traditional PLM function out of the box, and required little in-house development.
ARAS offered a lot of Flexibility to create additional features, as well as to interface with other systems and other hardware platforms.
ARAS offered an International End User Bulletin Board with Suggestions and other proven and developed features to utilize.
Over time we had found ARAS Corp as well as at least one of their Contractors Gibson and Associates to be strong and knowledgeable resources.
They offered a solid ARAS training program too,
What do you dislike?
The Annual Support fee seems a bit high.
Very satisfied with the product, but would add that the only issues that Kolcraft encountered could be considered as self inflicted due to taking the ARAS product outside of it's primary purpose and objective, and customizing it to better fit personal Kolcraft operation requirements.
Recommendations to others considering the product
Would strongly recommend to others that some serious thought and smart decision making go into the modification and enhancement of the ARAS product. Although Kolcraft can still take advantage of the regular upgrades, they can be very cumbersome and painful to perform due to the rather large amount of Customization that Kolcraft has done to the ARAS product over the years.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We have been able to retire many old and antiquated stand alone and off-line applications and incorporate these features and applications into ARAS, some of these areas include Costing, Fashion, ECN's and etc.
