For starters, the fact that AKS only has the need for one primary OS (host), and the engine for the container, makes managing the Apps much simpler and more efficient, as there are less factors at play. Because of this, the size of our containers are also much smaller than the average size of our VMs we were using to host the same apps.
Likewise, spinning up a new container so quickly has increased our application availability. We are able to bring up new containers when needed such as during our quarterly conferences, or during our once a year congress where we have 4-8x the amount of people accessing resources.
One of our business problems being solved is the availability of other network resources that are not being utilized strictly by these applications. Its also great because by utilizing azure active directory along with our containers, we are able to sync our AD with Azure and control access to our containers and apps.
