"Very friendly software for advanced and newbies to data analytics"

What do you like best?

The most desirable component of Azure Databricks is its interactive workspace. This aspect is unsurprisingly one of the main selling points of Databricks, and there's a reason why. Communication between data engineers and data scientists is not an easy problem to solve. Azure Databricks helps the communication and working channel.

What do you dislike?

Azure Databricks is customizable, but not as customizable as one would hope for a Microsoft product. Additionally, the product has more latency than competing software.

Recommendations to others considering the product

The number of products dealing with data science and data engineering is exploding. I'd recommend trying out Databricks and see if it does what you're looking for. You could take the approach of trying everything. I woulnd't do that, though.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Azure Databricks is used for modeling financial time-series and economics/business data. The benefits have been increased communication between the various individuals involved in the data generated and analysis line of work.

"Azure Databricks"

What do you like best?

It stores unstructured data in large amounts that cab be accessed and processed by BI Tools as wells as other statistical programming languages such as 'R' and 'Python'. The best part is that it is accessible by several other datasources, tools and technologies and other data sources and files can also be used as the enterprise data sources.

What do you dislike?

Since most of the data could be unstructured and complex, it could be challenging to beginners and as of this date, very few organizations have been using Azure Data Bricks and Data Lakes as their primary data source.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Data scientists and programmers have found Azure Databricks to be useful as they can run Statistical programming against the data to get insights into forecast and trends

"Azure Databricks - Analytics Simplified especially for newbies"

What do you like best?

It sets up the Spark environment quickly and auto scales with ease. People can collaborate on shared projects in an interactive workspace. It is seamlessly integrated with other Azure services. It helps build machine learning and AI capability solutions with a varied options of language and deep learning frameworks.

What do you dislike?

There is problem to ssh into azure databricks cluster VMs. This it possible on Databricks on AWS. Also access is at individual level as opposed to group level.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Very simple to use. Definitely worth the POC.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were trying to implement analytics within our division and were looking for ways to scale it, leveraging the serverless capability currently provided by many cloud vendors. The main benefits realized are:

1. Provides enterprise-grade Azure security,

2. Proves with the serverless option

3. Provides a collaborative and integrated environment,

4. Integrates very well with Azure databases and Power BI

Azure Databricks and low-priority VMs are a great match. Their use cases overlap heavily

"The new standard for data transformation"

What do you like best?

Databricks offers both python and R to be used as programming languages which lets the notebooks be very flexible. Jobs history and debugging is pretty straightforward and very useful

What do you dislike?

Sometimes jobs are not really visible on the history, I can see them on the log response saying it ran, but when looking on the history nothing is there

Recommendations to others considering the product

Databricks may seem expensive but we are using it to transform millions of records and still looks like a reasonable price. Try it out and see how easier it is to implement

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Transforming data so it can be passed to any database or services
