"User friendly Azure storage managing tool"

What do you like best?

Storage Explorer allows you working with Azure storage account in way similar that it was on Norton Commander in MS-DOS, you can download and upload files to blob and file storage, copy files between storage account and control access. You can easily create Shared Access Signatures and set Storage Access level. Latest version also allows creation of snapshots of file shares and switch views based on these. Preview functions alows you to connect to Azure Data Lake Store and even Cosmos DB. It works with both public Azure Environment and private solutions like Azure Stack. Allows connection to multiple storage accounts and perform file operations across these. Very simple in installations and usage.

What do you dislike?

Does not support ADFS accounts to log on, users could be authenticated only in Azure AD. This makes some limitations in implementing storage explorer widely. No option to create new storage account from it, you need to go to Azure portal

Recommendations to others considering the product

Probably the most comfortable tool for managing storage

" Drag and drop Make it user friendly."

What do you like best?

It works really well with both public Azure Environment (PAE) and private Azure Stack also. Queue storage helps a lot. Azure Storage Explorer can audit or track each SaS (shared access signature). It gets Quick updates support system is really well. The most important feature is like most is just drag and drop way.

What do you dislike?

Multiple accounts make it messy to work. Have to care manually about the things before switching. Commandline interface works more firmly than this, on low-end devices. Many times have to access the Azure web portal for some tasks.

Recommendations to others considering the product

be aware that although Azure Stack doesn't currently support Files Shares, a File Shares node still appears under an attached Azure Stack storage account.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I manage Azure storage queues. and have to handle Storage issues related to that.

What do you like best?

An easy to use tool for exploring all the storage accounts that exist in a subscription.

Provide detailed information about the contents of the selected Blob container, File shares, Queues and Tables.

There is nothing bad about the tool. Microsoft has been releasing regular updates with fixes and new features like in the version 1.5.0, one can now use AzCopy v10 (Preview) for uploading and downloading Blobs.

"Simple solution for storage management"

What do you like best?

Very simple tool to manually manage all aspects of your storage accounts. You can upload and download files to blob containers and file shares, edit data in queue storage and manage messages in queues. You can control access to your resources and create SAS tokens directly from Storage Explorer. you can manage snapshots of your files and create storage structure. It is very easy to start working, I had to spend several minutes to be able to control my storage. Preview functions allows integration with even more Azure resources

What do you dislike?

Nothing critical, but maybe including storage management automation tasks could be a good idea.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Do not allow junior level staff to use it, ensure that users has enough experience with storage account

"storage explorer"

What do you like best?

The user-friendly interface was easy to learn how to navigate. The Ribbon bar buttons are clearly labeled. Additionally the Help documentation is actually helpful and easy to access and use while in application. I also like the information about new Releases available for download that is given as soon as I open the application. It is easy to navigate and identify what I am looking for and open.

What do you dislike?

When I try to resize the columns when viewing a file they auto size to the size of the data in the column, I'm guessing that it really wouldn't be easy to word wrap long file names or date/times. I am very new to using the Storage Explorer, so the Create Snapshot functionality had to be explained to me by one of our developers before I was clear about the purpose.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Being a microsoft product this application is easy to use as it is similar to all the other micorsoft applications that you are already familuar with.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Storage issues are being addressed by using the Microsoft Azure Storage and the Explorer. Easy access to the files that we are downloading nightly from a third party partner that are needed to synchronize our databases.

"Simple tool for ad-hoc storage management"

What do you like best?

Very useful when you just need to quickly download or upload small amount of files to Azure Storage. It works much faster than Azure portal and allows you to fully manage storage accounts regardless of it`s type. You can easily manage BLOB and File storage as well as Tables and queues. Preview features also allows you to work with NoSQL databases and data lakes. In addition to manage content of your storage accounts you can also control access by creation of shared access signatures

What do you dislike?

Not very easy bulk operations with files, you`d better rely on powershell for this

Recommendations to others considering the product

It is a desktop tool, so will not experience slowness of Azure portal when working with it

What do you like best?

I love how you can access Azure queues almost in real time.

What do you dislike?

Some folders that you open don't update quickly when new files, blobs, or queue items are added. In fact clicking refresh doesn't always update where you're viewing.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Using Azure storage for many different aspects of web apps including log storage, data storage, and queues to act on within web apps.

"Not the best FTP ever..."

What do you like best?

Its great that they have hooks to azure blob storage

What do you dislike?

Its an overly obnoxious windows product that asks for confirmations on every upload. Really wish they had an easy FTP mode like WinSCP...

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I use it as a simple way to upload to blob and it works well for that, but it is still a lot more clicks than I would like.
