"Our company has been using the Intronis platform to over 6 years"

What do you like best?

Note Edit on 5/24/2017 - Check out the new ECHO Platform - NO Silverlight required and all browsers are supported! - Product is easy to use even if it's the first time you've seen it. It is nice to have a branded solution that is not being sold outside of the channel. No more competition from companies that sell direct to the end customer. The product supports file and folder type backups as well as image backups. There is an SQL and Exchange backup function as well. Very full featured.

What do you dislike?

The voice on the phone is a female with an English accent, harder for me to understand.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Try to get an account manager who is concerned about your business. Some are just trying to hit their number and couldn't care less about what is right for your company and customers.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Cloud backup and recovery are very easy, login, restore data anywhere you need to from where ever you are. Was able to restore 10 years of tax program and data accidentally deleted from the server, one hour later nobody even knew a problem had happened. We have chosen to use their flat fee pricing model that enables us to very accurately predict monthly pricing. Adding a new customer account is very easy to do.

"Total Data Protection"

What do you like best?

The biggest feature that we love about Intronis is the Direct To Cloud Backups. A number of growing businesses don't have the ability to have high-cluster environments or they don't want a local backup appliance / HDD. The flexibility of Intronis and the ability to backup directly to the cloud, from any device, is a huge advantage we have found over other applications.

There has been a new update recently that allows for a lot of great new features. One of the 'simpler' ones has to be the HTML5 portal that lets you use full functionality with Chrome or Firefox.

What do you dislike?

One of the few downsides is that since you are relying on Direct To Cloud, you are at the whim of your ISP for transfer speed. In order to maximize the Backup speed, you need to make sure you have an ISP that can handle it. We would also love the support to be a full 24/7 for emergency related restores, however, luckily, we haven't had to take that route yet.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Get started - Get a trial. Set it up for yourself internally and start backing things up! You'll find you can really do a lot with what it has to offer and you'll be able to better sell it to others when you know the ins and outs of what it has to offer. Now that Barracuda is the parent company, there's even more integrations and options to have. Cloud backups of Office 365 Services, an Appliance for off-loading the processing power off backed up hardware.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are solving many business needs with the Intronis platform. Hyper-V Backups, Exchange Server Backups, Local File and Folder, Direct To Cloud File and Folder... It has it all! We can sell this solution to nearly any client to meet their business needs.

We have found its also a great supplement with having different types of backups on the same machine. You can have an image level but then also a file level for a quick restore. Want to run the file restore every 60 minutes? You can do that and get the newest data, restored fast.

"Pretty good backup solution"

What do you like best?

Single point of reference for all backup statuses. Being able to change most backup options from the online portal instead of having to log into the local machine or server. Creating an installer for installing the backup agent is a breeze. We've done a few restores and besides one they were all very painless and fast.

What do you dislike?

We had one restore that did not go well. We were backup up the files on a server to cloud and to local usb drive. Something was configured incorrectly on the backup set (an option called "Backup to Local Vault first" that is ENABLED by default) and somehow the local vault files were corrupted or missing mysteriously. No problem, right? They're backed up to the cloud too, right? Nah. Since that option was enabled and the local vault didn't have the files, neither did the cloud. Doesn't make a lick of sense to me. I asked support and they didn't give me a good answer at all. So we went through and disabled that option on all of our backed up computers (manually, couldn't do it en masse through portal D:). Hopefully we'll not run into this issue again.

Another gripe I have is that sometimes the backup errors are sometimes not clear whatsoever. Thankfully their support is a quick chat away and they'll help you as much as they can.

Backing up computers to cloud and images to USB drives. They just came out with a image backup to cloud too which I'm anxious to try. It's solved us having several different backup platforms and we've condensed them all into Intronis with pretty good success.

"Excellent platform and product!"

What do you like best?

Branded solution and customizable reporting options for failed/missed backups, and monthly reports to automatically send to your customers who want that extra detail in a nice, clean report.

What do you dislike?

Support can sometimes be troublesome to deal with, but with a bit of pressure they've always come through for us. They always want to call us on the phone for an issue rather than email us back, which can sometimes be difficult to answer due to being on the phone with our clients. I also severely dislike that you're auto-locked into a yearly contract every year... I can understand the first year but after that it continues automatically year after year.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would suggest getting on a trial and using it on your own environment during the trial period, configure branding and email alerts and set it up to run and purposely stop/cancel backups so you can see how alerting works, and generate yourself executive summary reports, and put yourself in a client position - how would they like to see their data?

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Not having an accurate system of alerting us when backups aren't working - we moved from a competitor to Intronis and the alert system has been great, keeps customers, as well as us informed of any issues. The customers love the alerts, and we can stay on top of any backup issues immediately.

"Maximize Data Deuplication When Business Continuity Is Not an Option"

What do you like best?

The Intronos ECHO PLatform has allowed us to offer an affordable alternative Back Solution to all our clients. Once we are certain they can live without full Business continuity; we then talk about Intronis Options.. We use a local external Hard drive to enhance restore time

This brings peace of mind when responsibility goes to us.

I want program to have additional Offiste amount Pricing & Protection Options

"Avoid"

What do you like best?

I had planned to use Intronis for backing up mainly stations user data and servers critical data for offsite storage.

Marketing materials really look good. In theory, this could be good product.

It seemed truly promising, especially when compared to previous vendor I was using. Setting up 1st single backup wasn't that bad. I attributed initial issues to my inexperience with the product.

What do you dislike?

Sales practices, product quality and poor support. Worst thing of all is the deployment. Their mass deployment does not work as intended. It is too cumbersome and the management console is too slow. Later the real problems started. Systems stopped their backups, nothing helped: reinstall, deleting/adding back to console, then I finally given up and looked elsewhere for better solution. I ended up with Wholesalebackup. It cost me about the same in total monthly expenses, but with no storage limit as I run it on collocated server. Deployment is 10x faster and easier, management is a breeze as well. Nobody got time for Intronis slow response! Also, the dashboard, although fancy looking, lack efficiency. I don't care about graphs, I just want for every single customer machine to be backed up properly.

Please look elsewhere.

Over the 2 years dealing with Intronis has been a nightmare. When they couldn't help me, I switched to a different product. Then the surprise! After year and two months, I still have to pay for another 10 months! Not working as advertised? Intronis does not care - you still have to pay. Company claims to stand behind us - wrong! All they care about are their profits. They couldn't even reply to my cancellation email - that's how much they just don't care.

Let this be a lesson - only go to business with vendor who don't lock you in a contract.

"Easy to use. Intuitive."

What do you like best?

Centralized management; ease of setup; effective notifications. Also, the ability to grant customer access so that they (the client) can see the results of the backup jobs. It is a strong selling point that none of my clients use after two weeks since during that time, they become confident that the product is doing what it should.

What do you dislike?

Does not work in Chrome. I am frustrated that one of the largest browsers in the market is not supported. However, this is a gripe and not a complaint or reason not to use the platform.

Effective, easy to use, reasonable price and solid support

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Provides value add to my clients. Allows me to offer a full line of support to my clients. Eliminates recovery issues caused by failure to swap tapes etc. For small and medium businesses (my target market) this is a perfect solution for disaster recovery and provides the level of confidence that data will be available even after a truly catastrophic disaster.

"Worst Backup Product Ever "

What do you like best?

Nothing. There is nothing at all to like about Intronis.

What do you dislike?

Quite simply useless. Far too many problems to list them all here, but basically the product, service & support are all useless. Manages to simultaneously look like a GCSE IT project, but have so many set up options that make little sense that's its clearly been written by techies that haven't seen daylight for years. Very little common sense used in the settings, for example you can set a retention period of several years, but deleted files have a separate retention rule; either keep all & manually remove versions (!!) or automatically remove after 3 months. Really useful for customers who want 7 year backups. Support seems to be available 5pm GMT onwards as it's US based, but to be honest it doesn't really matter as none of the support staff have a clue how the product works or how to fix it. Currently trying to run a restore that's been going for 4 days but it's just sitting there not doing anything. Restores that have completed have been missing massive amounts of data, I wouldn't trust this product with my customers data. We're still in contract so having to pay for this & a product that actually works. Stay away from Intronis at all costs!!

"Quick and easy set up, works with few issues."

What do you like best?

The product is great. We've had great success with file-level, SQL and VMware backups.

What do you dislike?

There's a lack of ability to back up Exchange DAGs. Only other issue we ran into was when we were trying to do a DR test of an entire VM environment that we had backed up with the solution. Apparently it's very difficult to get 18 TB worth of information restored in a timely fashion, particularly when it's encrypted.

The product is a great remote backup solution. We're quite happy with our transition and use of it since we've signed on.

"Excellent Product, Solid Foundations, Great Value"

What do you like best?

The platform keeps growing. They just merged with Barracuda and now you can manage all of the devices in one console. Makes management a bit easier. Reporting is good, as are notifications.

What do you dislike?

The website is a bit slow, other than that, NOTHING!

Do it, you will love it and the peace of mind it gives you.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use ECHOplatform for backup primarily, and have over 115 accounts on it. We have been using it for longer than 10 years and have enjoyed a 100% success rate with restored files. That's right, you read correctly, 100%. Probably easily 250-300 restorations over the years and thankfully, if you just simply keep up with the logging and alerting, there is no reason why you won't have the same results.

"EchoPlatform does it all"

What do you like best?

The EchoPlatform management portal allows us to fully manage our customer's online backups and know when there is a problem, often before the customer does.

There are extensive plugins for things like Exchange and SQL that allow for selective comprehensive backup schemes for just about anything. Many providers can't say that.

What do you dislike?

There is not much about the product that I dislike. Some clients are apprehensive about cloud backup. Once we show them the capabilities, thought, they are usually on board.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are keeping our clients safe from all kinds of disasters; severe virus and ransomware attacks, fires and floods, theft and user error to name a few. Their data is secure with strong encryption in a compliant data center.

"Enterprise Level Feature Set for a Fraction of the Cost"

What do you like best?

The functionality. With ECHOplatform you get a robust feature set for a fraction of the price.

What do you dislike?

Portal Navigation/GUI. I would prefer more local-based configuration utilities. Currently, it's split between local and web. I'm not a fan of Web GUI's.

This is an excellent solution for small budgets.

And whatever you do, DO NOT go with B**kupEx*c. I cannot stress that enough.

The ECHOplatform allows us to offer a true backup/DR solution at a very reasonable price. Our smaller clients get enterprise-level functionality without hurting their wallet.

"Saved customer's orders"

What do you like best?

We were able to save a customers orders because they had used the Barracuda MSP offering and just before Christmas !

What do you dislike?

It's very easy to use from a dashboard, rolled out very smoothly and our customer was up and running without any downtime (at least as far as they were concerned)

"Making DR affordable and easy"

What do you like best?

The product just works and when there are problems Intronis alerts you. Knowing that it's working is the difference between data being there when you need it most or being screwed and losing your data. With all of the latest ransomware out there, Intronis has saved a lot of our customers files and time when having to restore without paying the thief's a dime.

What do you dislike?

With every new entry to a product there are bugs or issues, but Intronis is quick to iron out all of those issues very quickly. There are minor issues with their agent, but they continue to list to the users and community and adapt the biggest complaints into their road map quickly.

They were just purchased by Barracuda, so future plans are a bit unknown, but they are starting to share their plans going forth.

"Terrible Product - Even Worse Contracts!"

What do you like best?

Uninstalling Intronis is my favorite part!

What do you dislike?

It chews up way too much time dealing with failed backups. Support has 2 answers, "uninstall/reinstall" and "it must be your hardware, it can't be us". The product is terrible, and the only thing worse is getting stuck in an auto-renewing contract without a friendly, "hey, your agreement for $1000/mo renews next month".

I can't wait to be done with this company!

If you do go with Intronis, make them remove the auto-renewal from your contract!

"Fair Product"

What do you like best?

Ease of Management of hundreds of backup agents at once. Simple interface for configuration and scheduling of a nice variety of backup types, including imaging, files and folders, SQL database, Exchange. Most important feature for us has been the ability to Image systems quickly. There are still some tweaks to be made in regard to quick VMware or Hyper-V restore from a physical computers backup image, but they are at least making improvements towards this. Solid system, support is reasonable and chat is quick.

What do you dislike?

Interface on the local machines itself is still a bit cumbersome and slow, but doesn't impact the solution overall. Its just an administrative thing.

When the agent has problems locally, it can be at times, and they are rare, difficult to get the agent running again.

The integration with NAS products and large storage systems, or collaboration across Azure and AWS.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It is absolutely worth it, whether you get it from a partner provider, or partner with them yourselves. It is an essential solution to have on your list of provided Managed Services and backup solutions.

Local Imaging is necessary, since BDRs are expensive for Small Businesses, and the local storage is just cheaper than a full BDR solution. So having a reliable imaging system is ESSENTIAL. We will often do combinations of ShadowProtect and Intronis. But overall, the solution is solid and helps with multiple avenues of backup, including Cloud File retention.

Also, retention of data for local and state government clients.

"A refreshing experience"

What do you like best?

It's great to have an MSP platform that appears to actually have had input from MSPs. Most portals are either too marketing-focused or are barely usable.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes navigation isn't as straightforward as I would expect. This is not a major ding, though.

Managing all clients on a specific product platform is a huge help; the ultimate endgame though would be to have most or all products in one portal.

"Recovery 101"

What do you like best?

With malicious ransomware like Crypto and WannaCry we have been able to recover our clients environments with minimal downtime.

What do you dislike?

In the past there were some glitches with backups of Exchange but Intronis has fixed those issues.

"Cloud backup with Intronis"

What do you like best?

We love the flexibility to perform backup directly in the cloud or chosen by a local backup in cases where bandwidth is sacrificed

What do you dislike?

A topic that is a little uncomfortable is the option will not be a multi platform languaje as we have clients who are not able to interpret the English and are complicated to use.

What do you like best?

The layout. I get a quick view of what has completed and was has not.

You have to dig a little bit to find the backups that have failed.

"Data Recovery at its best"

What do you like best?

Our clients have been saved multiple times by Intronis. The crypto virus has effected multiple clients of ours and Intronis has always had the data waiting to be recovered. Recovery is so easy and fast our clients this we are super hero's.

What do you dislike?

In the beginning it we had some issues with Quickspins and the Exchange backups. Intronis has now fixed this and everything is running well. No dislikes on my end.

"Intronis ECHOplatform is a very easy product to work with"

What do you like best?

Ease of use: It is very easy to set up and is an effective product that does its job very well.

What do you dislike?

Scheduling: You can only view one machine schedule at a time.

"Great all around backup product for MSP"

What do you like best?

This product provides our customers with the offsite backup storage they need in an easy to manage solution.

What do you dislike?

The lack of an available backup appliance for onsite is a problem, though it is easily resolved with a house build appliance.

"BEWARE of LARGE RESTORES"

What do you like best?

Great backup tool. Very reliable. Good partner program.

What do you dislike?

Restoring a large amount (770 GB in our case) of data takes days or weeks. Despite your internet, network and server speed, this is a 32 bit app. Support is not 24/7. I learned all this the hard way.
