"One Place Local event "

What do you like best?

I attended the One Place Local event in Arizona in May and was also lucky enough to attend the One Place Local event in Charleston. Not only was the material different, which I was extremely excited about, but at the One Place Local events you will always have different conversations amongst your peers. It's always a great opportunity for networking!

It's very apparent that Benefitfocus cares about their clients! There is a dedicated Benefitfocus team-member who takes down notes on hot topics, areas of concerns, etc. We even had a break out session where our opinions could impact the next annual One Place event in 2019.

What do you dislike?

I am never disappointed when leaving events held by Benefitfocus. They are always beneficial!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

There are so many! Where should I begin? Benefitfocus is our hub for all things benefits. We have even coined the name 'Benefits Billboard' to help employees better relate with the communication portal. Benefitfocus has helped us streamline the benefit enrollment process. We no longer have to manually enter in benefit deductions into our payroll system as we have a very clean dependable payroll changes file that we audit every week. Benefitfocus houses all of our employee enrollment history, it leaves any questions out of the picture. I could go on and on - Benefitfocus is amazing!

"BenefitFocus- The Ben Admin of the future!"

What do you like best?

When I think of Benefitfocus and how HRis and Ben Admin systems need to evolve with the dynamic needs and requests of employers Benefitfocus is spot on with their innovative technology and customer support systems. Benefitfocus understands that data drives all HR and Benefit decisions and they have made a significant investment in their data and data accuracy.

Since Technology is king anymore Benefitfocus offers user-friendly mobile enrollment that is seamless and intuitive. Benefitfocus One Place conference is the gold standard as well.

Benefitfocus and their mobile and enrollment solutions helped our Associates migrate over to CDHD Plans and we continue to see the movement YOY.

What do you dislike?

The only opportunity I would even mention about Benefitfocus is that initially it took some time for them to find their footing for the Customer Support Managers and support teams. Now Benefitfocus has a gauge on what their customers want in regards to platform and technical support. The great thing about Benefitfocus is that when you speak up, they listen to their clients.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Benefitfocus provides us with data and reporting that make it easy to report real time data to the C-Suite.

"Benefitfocus - An enhanced employee experience"

What do you like best?

The enrollment platform has allowed us to provide our employees with a shopping type experience when participating in a benefit enrollment. The site is intuitive and allows us to provide embedded educational pieces to target critical needs. In addition adding the resources of the BENEFITFOCUS Service Center has allowed us to save time and money by creating an additional segment of benefit staff to assist our employees.

What do you dislike?

As we work to fine tune our programs and processes, there can be a bit of a lag as we wait for functionality to be updated to match our timelines.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The main purpose we had when switching platforms to BENEFITFOCUS was to enhance the employee experience. The goal was to make the benefit enrollment experience as simple as possible -- provide resources all in one place while taking out additional complexity that did not need to be there. Benefits can be hard enough for employees to understand without having to add in additional technology complexity.

"Benefitfocus makes benefits enrollment one less thing I have to worry about."

What do you like best?

The online portal and especially the Benefitfocus app are so user friendly that as Benefits Manager I rarely hear anything but praise from employees who are enrolling as new hires, processing qualifying life events, or during our annual open enrollment. With cost comparison tools, the ability to build in links, videos, etc. the system really has it all.

What do you dislike?

The only downside is that I don't have enough time to implement all of the tremendous features that are available (automated communications, reminders, personalized content, etc.)

Take the time to personalize your portal to fit the culture of your company.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Having limited people resources I need to be able to count on a vendor and their product to be able to reduce the amount of admin work and troubleshooting that I have and Benefit Focus does exactly that.

"Benefitfocus - An innovative and collaborative partner"

What do you like best?

Communications Portal and Core Analytics are my favorites! I also think the enrollment experience is very engaging and love how customizable it is.

What do you dislike?

Nothing - everything is going very well! Our customer success manager is always available to us, actively championing us to ensure our voice is heard. The collaborative nature of everyone at Benefitfocus enables us to speak freely about what our needs are. They partner on solutions versus just sending you an outrageous bill.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be open about your expectations; have weekly meetings with your Customer Success Manager; submit Ideas to the Ideas Community whenever you have them (they act on these!).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were looking for a benefits self-service product where we could streamline all communications around benefit offerings and more, not only to educate our population of the offerings, but encourage our population to understand what plans are right for them. Too many in our nation believe that the best insurance is the one that costs more, yet everyone's needs are different. Through leveraging the Benefitfocus communications portal and core analytics, we are able to provide educational materials and apply an individual's 12-months of claims data to the shopping experience. This builds a realistic picture for our associates, who are able to see total cost of every plan offering based on their own experience. It has helped greatly to move a population that didn't need to be in PPOs to begin to understand the long-term value of HDHPs.

"BenefitFocus is helping us reach our employees! "

What do you like best?

BenefitFocus is very customer focused. We have had great relationships with everyone that has worked on our account over the past 2 years. Everyone there genuinely wants us to be happy customers and will do whatever necessary to make sure we stay that way! Our employees also love the platform and it has really helped us automate benefit enrollments and deductions.

What do you dislike?

I really can't think of anything specific.

We have a diverse employee population that is located throughout the country so it has always been a challenge to reach each employee when it comes to benefits. BenefitFocus has helped tremendously with that! We have also had a lot of employees make changes to their benefits based on their increased knowledge level of our benefits. Several are now enrolled in a high deductible medical plan. It is saving the employee and the company money.

"Robust system accommodates our needs for benefits enrollment and recordkeeping."

What do you like best?

System electronic enrollment and record keeping enables offering of multiple plan options; direct reporting to carriers; electronic input from payroll. Ease of employee access and navigation; employees readily understood logic behind functionality in the system; tools enabling employees' comparison of plans to make an educated election of coverage on an individual basis. Benefitfocus very well-prepared to test configuration of system before moving to production. Implementation managed very well. Data and reporting tools in system support our internal billing as well as payment to carriers for elected coverage; analysis of benefits usage. Client community forum for vetting suggested updates and enhancements supports responsiveness to customer needs.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes technical support is not knowledgeable of our plan designs.

Take advantage of all support and tools available to enhance use of the software.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Able to offer affordable options for coverage and provide more choices for employees. Reduced paper use and moved employee benefits enrollment to an electronic, web-based process that is more secure, more accurate, more accessible, and more sustainable. Enabled us to provide more consistent information to employees about benefits, and provided tools employees may use to obtain answers to questions without requiring staff support. Enabled us to provide employees direct links to carriers, improving service. Able to eliminate third-party billing for internal billing by taking advantage of the reporting features of the software. System supports analysis of plan use that improves our ability to make informed decisions about plan design.

"The Cadillac of Benefits Platforms"

What do you like best?

The platform is very user-friendly and provides a one-stop shop for our employees to find everything they could need relating to benefits.

What do you dislike?

If you use data file feeds, development time is extensive. If it breaks once developed, it is also a timely process to get it corrected. Also, some of the integrated file feeds with carriers seem to be incomplete, meaning they don't include every possible field that might be needed on a standard spec.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Benefitfocus has become an extension of our benefits team. We are very lean internally, so having Benefitfocus handle all of our administration, act as our service center to employees and automate our processes has solved the issue of needing additional headcount. They continue to offer added-value products to help streamline processes, like COBRA and FSA/HSA administration.

"Great to have benefit access anywhere, anytime for our employees across the country!"

What do you like best?

The Benefitfocus system allows different benefits to be set-up with ease for employees - whether full-time, part-time, or always mobile. Having a communication portal to share details and information as well as videos is an asset.

What do you dislike?

Vendor feeds are not as easy to set-up as you think and can take a very long time. The HSA set-up for employees and employers is also not user friendly to adjust maximum contribution limits due to a life event during the year.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be aware that setting up a data file feed to a non-preferred vendor can take years.

A group of our employees who never had access to online benefits information before Benefitfocus can now enroll online, view their information - and especially access it in Spanish.

"BenefitFocus Review"

What do you like best?

The best part of WKU's partnership with BenefitFocus is our Customer Success Manager, Nina. She goes above and beyond for us time and time again. We know if we can't make something work that we've tried every avenue possible and Nina has made every attempt. She's looking for ways to help us make our platform better and our employee experience user friendly.

What do you dislike?

We have a complex benefit structure and there are times that the platform simply can't accommodate our offers. However, Nina, our CSM works hard to make it the best she can.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our employees have simple access to all of their benefits at any time of day. They can easily make life event changes without contacting HR.

"Benefitfocus - An Absolute Great Partner With An Absolutely Greater Benefits Platform."

What do you like best?

Overall, what I loved most is the time and attention that has been devoted towards the success of our business relationship for the past three years!

There has been nothing but total consistency with the way things are handled and delivered from the Benefitfocus Support Team to my College, on a daily and weekly basis. And, it appears to only be getting better as technology advancements are made and implemented.

Our relationship with Benefitfocus is happy happy! Thank you!

What do you dislike?

I absolutely cannot think of anything at this time--all issues are addressed, upon discovery, and resolved in a timely manner.

Accessing your benefits no longer requires a call or visit to the HR Benefits Office, and can now be accessed via several technology options--especially smartphones and other mobile devices 24-7-365.

"BenefitFocus Review"

What do you like best?

We chose BenefitFocus from its competitors as it appeared to be very user friendly. We were correct in doing so. Earlier this year was our first open enrollment and we had no complaints from our members regarding the system. We were assigned a wonderful Customer Success Manager, Anne that goes above and beyond for us.

What do you dislike?

We consist of six school corporations with Benefit Administrators and a Trust Director. It would be nice to be able to have a tier approval process. Even though most of the benefits are the same they are administered differently at times. Our Customer Success Manager, Anne works hard making our site the best she can.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Easy for employees to use. Excellent opportunities for training in understanding and expanding capabilities of the system. Everyone at Benefitfocus is so friendly and helpful.

It has simplified the enrollment process for our members. The easy access to see their benefits, choose their plan when it is convenient for them. They can make life change events, download their documents without taking time from their workday to contact their Benefits Department.

"Customer service is a 10 plus"

What do you like best?

Benefitfocus has certainly helped this department of 1 person streamline my OE. With almost 1000 retirees and over 3500 employees OE can be overwhelming with all the choices. The system enables me to have clear plan descriptions and costs for all employees and retirees to make very informed decisions on all of the benefits offered.

The customer service representatives we have had over the last several years are very knowledgeable of the products and of my particular system set up. They are always there to help without any notice and are even able to keep me on track with all of my needs before I even know I need them. Even if they are not currently my service represntaive I know I can contact any of them at any time and they are all there to help.

What do you dislike?

I really can not think of anything specific I do not like. We have not run into any issues or questions that were not answered very quickly and resolved just as quick.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We had so much paper in our Benefits office. This has certainly cleared a lot of that up for us. Having all of our choices in one spot has made enrollment for new hires much quicker. We do not have to do as much one on one with employees which saves quite a bit of time.

What do you like best?

Benefitfocus offers innovative solutions that support all aspects of benefits administration. It's a total package that can take your benefits to the next level.

We needed a platform that offered the ability to connect and engage our employees. In the retail industry one of the biggest challenges is being able to communicate to a broad audience all across the nation. The Benefitfocus Communications Portal gave us the ability to formulate strategic communications to a target audience. We could schedule communications in advance or send at a moments notice. The Communications Portal became THE place to learn anything and everything about our benefits. We had a wide range of decision support tools, videos and content ready at our fingertips. Administration is easy and simple and their teams are supportive and willing to go the extra mile. I'd recommend Benefitfocus to anyone looking to take their benefits administration to the next level.

"Responsive, Insightful"

What do you like best?

I generally enjoy the opportunity to collaborate with the developers and thought leaders that create the product I am purchasing and using. By showing an interest in how their customers utilize their product, they are showing a willingness to adapt and have a vision for the future.

What do you dislike?

The development process is often a few steps behind competitors. In some cases, I believe that BF is a tad too "internally focused" and often does not raise their head up to see what competitors in their market are doing. Given that we live in an arms-race for new features and deliverables, not keeping up with the Joneses can negatively affect customers who also are in a competitive marketplace.

What do you like best?

Their Commitment, Website for Employee's

What do you dislike?

Cases take to long to be solved & you should be able to fix it ourselves all we need is the information on how. Also the Website needs more information on how to set it up.

if you are looking for a company that is Loyal and dedicated to your needs and wants, and listens to your thoughts and complaints and helps you with solutions and go above what most Benefit Company do then BF is the company for you.

some of the deductions are not coming over correctly - like the Post Tax or the end date of the HSA

What do you like best?

The enrollment platform and the communication portal. Both are able to be customized and they carry the look and feel of our company. Not just a generic enrollment platform. Very user friendly and makes enrollment easy for the member.

What do you dislike?

Nothing specific to Benefitfocus. Its always a learning curve understanding how to make the platform work best for your company's specific needs.

What do you like best?

I do not like to use One Place 365 to report issues. I prefer contacting my rep directly.

EDI team has ups and downs. Currently very strong.

Really partner with your customer success manager. If you can, ask them for best practices to leverage your efforts.

We've gone through plan integration/standardization, payroll consolidation and a complete revamp of our benefits and comm portal. Expanded comm portal services are a huge win with us.

What do you like best?

The system's ease of use for employees has been extremely beneficial. From an administrator perspective, the Benefitfocus team is amazing to work with.

What do you dislike?

We don't get as much face-to-face time with our customer success managers as we'd like - understandably due to location.

We are able to efficiently keep track of all employee benefits in one place. It's our one stop shop for all things benefits!

What do you like best?

The marketplace approach to Benefits has been very easy for our Employees to pick up on.

What do you dislike?

Compared to our old Benefits system (workday) it seems to be a lot of clicks to get through an enrollment or even to that matter a life change.

If you are looking to combine many admin efforts and processes, while giving your employees an easy to use/marketplace platform, then Benefitfocus should be considered.

"I've used Benefitfocus in a previous job for 10 years."

What do you like best?

It is very easy to work with the employees at Benefitfocus to set up carrier feeds. They are accessible and knowledgeable about the product. Once implemented the carrier feeds run with very little problems.

What do you dislike?

There were a few times when customer support was slow to respond to issues, but those times were rare.

Recommendations to others considering the product

The company I worked for had approximately 1000 employees. I would definitely recommend to a company this size, but don't have experience with > 1000 employees so I'm don't how effective they would be for large employers.

The carrier feeds run well each week allowing us to have up to date benefits information. This creates accurate billing and saves money and time not having to add and delete

"Excellent product"

What do you like best?

We have used the system for 3 years now and it's so easy for us as admin and for the user. I love the fact we can drill down in history to view who made the changes.

What do you dislike?

To much communication when logging a case, get an e-mail when we log, get an e-mail when they look at it and another when it's completed.

Benefit enrollment is so easy and seamless, we have saved so much time by moving to Benefitfocus.
