"Insightful, productive, and powerful - after overcoming the lack of user friendliness "

What do you like best?

I appreciate how powerful and insightful the terminals are. They are able to provide accurate information about nearly every equity, financial instrument, market, and everything else finance related. It creates a powerful system that is useful for a wide variety of research and applications.

What do you dislike?

I dislike the user interface and visual design. It can be challenging to use and look at for long periods of time. It appears as if it hasn’t been updated since the 1980’s

Recommendations to others considering the product

Once you begin using them, be sure to complete the Bloomberg Market Concepts course (BMC). It will greatly assist in your user experience and make it much more friendly.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Bloomberg is helping me find accurate information to build equity research reports, in less time. I have realized the credibility this brings to my research and how it is insightful.

"Could be an overkill"

What do you like best?

Bloomberg terminal is like on of those softwares (like Excel) that you think you know you've nailed down how to use, but you probably have not even scratched the surface. It has any data you need at your fingertips.

What do you dislike?

Some people like the interface, which I have learned is an acquired skill but their interface has probably never changed in forever. Without changing it forever, they could offer more themes and UI options which could make it easier to onboard new users.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

There are very few things that most public companies are stipulated by law to do, and most make sure they do the absolute minimum. This is good for them. Not for you. Bloomberg makes sure that you find all the data from conference calls to historical financials at one place.

"Great for analysing financial market data"

What do you like best?

The advantage of having real time stock prices as well as an easy to use interface over other alternatives to Bloomberg Terminal. I also love the fact that I could log in remotely if I needed to if I was travelling abroad in a different time zone to keep up to date and be in the loop with everything to do with the markets

What do you dislike?

If anything, the price, but as this was through work. I did prefer the Reuters 3000 Xtra system but that became obsolete a few years ago and Bloomberg Terminal is seen as the default go to system anyway.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It's the default go to for live market data over all of it's competitors and the user interface is easy to use. Remote log in is incredibly handy. You're fortunate if your company have implemented this expensive but useful tool at your disposal!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Having real time stock market prices at your fingertips. The hotkeys are fantastic for switching between different markets/securities instantly with little or no fuss to gather all of the data you need. Again, the ability to be able to remotely log in from anywhere in the world was invaluable.

"Bloomberg Terminal - Worth the Cost? "

What do you like best?

Bloomberg Terminal is the best tool if you’re serious about trading and want to have your finger on the pulse of every market in the world.

It also lets you buy/sell stocks, options, futures, loans, and bonds directly from the terminal window by linking to JP Morgan Active Assets accounts.

What do you dislike?

You cannot execute trades directly through the terminal with every brokerage.

Having to use fingerprint login.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Allows you to communicate directly with other broker-dealers and Terminal users through the chat function. This is often an essential issue which Bloomberg solves by use of their chat function.

Another issue Bloomberg solves is it aggregates tons of real time data into one place. This means if you want real-time data from the NYSE, CME, OPRA, or any other exchange, you can get it all. And you can get quotes on stocks, options, and futures in London and China.

"It's a market leader for finance data for a reason"

What do you like best?

Almost everything you could possibly need is on here. There's an army of support staff and help desk members there to help you find what you need. Once you get the hang of it, it's fairly easy to use. It also opens up with 4 different screen panels that all act independently of one another which is great for multitasking.

What do you dislike?

It's extremely expensive and security is very strict. It's easy to get locked out on it. Also not the best for working from home.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Bond pricing reconciliations, trade and account transactions reconciliations, performance of fixed income indices and fixed income funds, model portfolio simulations

"Great for reports, numbers and such; could be more user-friendly for newcomers"

What do you like best?

Bloomberg Terminal is a great resource for stats, numbers, analyst reports, etc. A lot of jobs require access to Bloomberg Terminal in order to properly operate and it is great so many different metrics can be found on the terminal.

What do you dislike?

Not very user friendly for newcomers. When I first used the program, it was difficult to navigate and learn all the different functionalities and such. I know there are plenty of training materials and such available but the terminal itself could use some improvement to make it better.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Have someone experienced with the Terminal teach how to properly navigate for efficiency

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Need Bloomberg Terminal for company stats and financials updates in order to develop curriculum. Along with that, the benefits of analyst reports have also been extremely useful in gaining a perspective on industries

"Greaf information"

What do you like best?

The amount of information that this product has is absolutely amazing. The terminal dives deeper than any other product that I have used. You are able to break down every aspect of the business you are researching and also get the opinion of other analysts on the street.

What do you dislike?

The vast information is an asset but the only thing that I would like to see different is the aesthetics of the terminal. Although the information is nice, I think a change in the format of the terminal would make it easier to use and find information.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Equity research and portfolio management. Combining this with other terminals, I am able to get more in depth research once I find a company that I am interested in.

"Bloomberg Terminals are critical"

What do you like best?

The best part about Bloomberg Terminals is the amount of information they can provide to the user on any company.

What do you dislike?

There is nothing to dislike about the Bloomberg Terminal. However, something useful that could help the end user would be to provide a "cheat sheet" which the client can use to help extract the data they are seeking.

Recommendations to others considering the product

The Bloomberg Terminal is one of the most important tools for financial companies.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The Bloomberg Terminal is giving the user a lot more data on companies than they can find by just doing a simple internet search. A benefit I have realized from using the terminal is researching companies in depth (ie. how the security is rated from the main rating agencies)

"A Complicated Software made for Experts"

What do you like best?

The Bloomberg Terminal Software is helpful for financiers who are very invested in the stock market. It has literally an overwhelming amount of information about many different companies.

What do you dislike?

I believe the Bloomberg terminal is over-complicated by its creators in order to upcharge the price and have it be accessible for the knowledgeable few.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

If you need any kind of information on a business related to earnings, ratios or stock price, this product is your best data source by far.

"Efficient but email is not great"

What do you like best?

Lightning fast messaging and updates on financial information/stocks

What do you dislike?

The email function is so primitive that it's difficult to attach files and format text, especially when emailing with someone who doesn't use the terminal

Recommendations to others considering the product

Don't use it for email but it's good for other functions, like bios and stock/commodities

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It's good for analyzing trends quickly and for quick-bio facts on major players in the news

"Bloomberg Terminal is the best out of its mediocre competitors; yet is expensive"

What do you like best?

I like real-time stock prices, option alerts, and the ability to chat with traders live.

What do you dislike?

The $24K annual price tag is probably Bloomberg's biggest con.

Recommendations to others considering the product

There is also Benzinga Pro (much cheaper alternative).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

While working for a private institute, it helped the institute guide its investments. It was an effective tool to help manage our portfolio.
