"Blue falls short in many ways, but gets the job done."

What do you like best?

Blue allows my office to utilize a stand-alone survey link to survey students after they complete their appointment with our office. Blue also allows us to create a stand-alone link to use in presentations that allows us to capture data in real-time and store that information in one place.

What do you dislike?

Blue is definitely not the most user-friendly survey and assessment took on the market. The interface is extremely clunky, and is not supported in some browsers. Specifically, Blue does not work well on the administrative side in Google Chrome, and works best in Internet Explore. In Blue, it is time consuming to setup a survey, and requires many steps when setting up trigger questions, setting up reports, and sending the survey out via email addresses. Other services out there will setup your survey for you, as long as you have a transcript with detailed notes on setup.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you have someone in your organization that can devote a substaintial amount of time learning the ins and outs of Blue, as well creating and administering surveys, you should have not problem using this product.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Blue allows us to capture real-time data on how we serve our population. Prior to using Blue, our data was kept in different locations which made it difficult for us to manage all of the data around our customer population.

"Maybe it used to be good, but it certainly isn't anymore."

What do you like best?

Explorance is a cool name, and they've chosen a nice blue hue to complement their titular software. There seem to be a lot of features, both exoteric and esoteric, that they have conveniently hidden behind an impenetrable user interface. If you're searching for a survey platform that will wow your users with the timeless web design of 2006, look no further.

What do you dislike?

I guess I dislike the confusing interface that looks like it was developed 20 years ago. I think that the only person that could utilize the full capabilities of this software would be one of their own developers. What's the difference between "Projects" and "Reports" tabs? Who knows. The two pages are identical. "Response Rate"? Page not found. Finally, the surveys that get set out to users will not impress anyone.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Blue could offer more features than its competitors, but I'd never know, because it's all hidden behind an unusable user interface. Consider different software.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It does send out surveys, so in the most basic sense, it has solved that business need. The only benefit I have found is that I now appreciate clients that have chosen any other survey software.

"User and system admin for the eXplorance Blue course evaluations and surveys"

What do you like best?

Reads relational data from our student information system, critical for surveying 000s of students in various courses. Creates both surveys and reports. Once a survey closes, reports can be distributed immediately via email. There is also a live report feature for surveys, allowing users to see results and response rates while a survey is in progress. Built in email handling, e.g. sends reminders to students who have not completed yet. eXplorance support is very responsive.

What do you dislike?

Report graphics are okay but could be better. There is no easy way to get high response rates, it takes a lot marketing and crafted emails.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Worth trying, you can have eXplorance host or install locally. You will need programmer assist for student and course extracts.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We transitioned from paper course evaluations to online evaluations, saving a ton of time and dollars.
