"Very flexible solution geared towards custom manufacturing. Great company to work with."

What do you like best?

It was a challenge to find a CPQ that we felt really met our custom manufacturing needs and understood our business. Many CPQ's seem to be focused on bundling existing stock products. BluePrint has the ability to handle BOM parts with as many dependencies as we need. In fact, it has more capabilities than we use.

BluePrint scripting allows us to add any business logic needed. This makes it extremely flexible. If you can't make it work with scripting, BlueZebra is able to create custom functions to meet your needs. They have a script generator for less technical administrators. End-product configurations and scripts both can be split out and combined to reduce duplication, making it easier to maintain.

BlueZebra customer support, developers and director are all wonderful to work with. The company is very agile, so can quickly create a solution to meet your needs. Support tickets are answered promptly. We had an issue on a holiday last year and a developer stayed and worked with us until the problem was solved.

Our sales executives and end-users like the simple and clean quoting interface, help windows and the ability to select options in any order rather than being forced into a specific question sequence.

What do you dislike?

With more flexibility comes more complexity. It's a trade-off. Our non-technical admins found the configuration setup side a little confusing at first. The script generator requires someone who understands if-then-else logic and logical "and/or".

BlueZebra is very helpful and easy to work with. These guys are awesome!

I haven't found any situation that BluePrint can't handle. Even if other CPQ products meet your needs, BluePrint may still be more economical.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

By moving to BluePrint we were able to integrate CPQ with our CRM data. The configuration of each quote is passed back to our CRM so the data is in one place for reporting and a complete BOM can be sent to manufacturing.

"Blueprint became the core software in our organisation"

What do you like best?

The software is very versatile and seems to be able to be adapted to anything we want it to do, whether that be quoting very complicated structures or intergrating with other software. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and they have added a lot of new functionality to the program when we have requested it and it is possible to do.

What do you dislike?

I am not sure I dislike anything. There are other things I wish it did, especially on the drawing package side, but this is not what its core function is. Anyway we have gotten around this by getting the program to export a csv file that we can import into AutoCAD to do a drawing which gives us much more flexibility.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Speak to the team about what you are trying to achieve as they will be able to advise you whether it is possible and the best way to go about it. They are so helpful and friendly and always seem to come up with a solution.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

When we were first looking for a quotation package back in 2004/5 we wanted one that would quote for the Oak Framed Buildings that we sell. We decided that the software needed to work out the amount of materials and labour needed for any building that a customer could ever imagine. Obviously there was a lot of work on our part to get all the rules in place but by 2006 we had a fully working software and have done many thousands of quotes since. We find it very easy to add extra bits and update prices which we seem to be doing on a regular basis. Blueprint has enabled us to give the customer a fixed price quote in a timely manner and we find it extremely accurate for what we do.

"Excellent Product"

What do you like best?

The configuration engine is extremely configurable and powerful allowing you to build any kind of product with it. We have an extremely complex configured product with a lot of different options and rules. BluePrint allows us to do everything we need to do.

The Blue Zebra team are helpful and knowledgeable. Many other companies we spoke to didn't really understand

What do you dislike?

Pascal is used as the scripting language to create the "rules" for the product configurator on a per product basis. This isn't a huge problem but the system could benefit from a more modern language like JavaScript.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Speak to the team. Our main reason for choosing BluePrint over other configuration software was that the BluePrint team are extremely knowledgeable about product configuration and could easily answer our questions and concerns.

We moved from a system where the configuration rules for our product were decentralized in multiple different locations to being able to control all rules, pricing and costing in a single place... BluePrint.

"Very helpful software"

What do you like best?

The ease with which I can create a new set of questions for a particular service and then access them to capture the required information from any location .

What do you dislike?

Nothing to dislike really. Although at a push I might want my mobile phone screen to be a bit bigger so its easier to use the software on my phone but that is not the software's fault.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Have an idea of what you need it to do, but definitely seek their guidance and be open to their recommendations on how to set it up. They showed me how to structure my items so it was easy to maintain and design new services as I needed them. Had I just translated my old spreadsheet thinking I would have probably created a tool that would have become un-manageable in the future.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Configuring till / payment options for new and upgraded restaurant facilities. Also use to gather specific audit information for each facility which is usually gathered on site.

"A true configurator"

What do you like best?

The ability to configure hardware, services and services on the same screen and apply rules that affect each other. And prevent errors appearing on the quotes.

What do you dislike?

Nope, nothing that springs to mind. It does all that I need it to. There is also additional stuff that I do not currently use so plenty of scope for me to do more should I need.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you need a really powerful configurator then this is the tool for you. Its a true configurator that can easily cope with the most complex of rules and large quotes.

Enabling the whole team to create consistent professional quotes fast. Knowing that they are priced correctly and that the relevant software and services have been sold. Reduction in errors. More people able to quote.

"Very quick learning and responsive team"

What do you like best?

The automation of previously very laborious work (calculations and products to load) that was prone to error is now automated. A record is created automatically of the calculation workings so a separate record(s) doesn't have to be attached.

What do you dislike?

It is an added level of structural complexity to the SF "opportunity" and "quote." The configurator times out when multi-tasking and does not auto-save. This is inconvenient for those that HAVE to multitask due to customer service needs. Navigation is not clear - minimal indication on Configurator of where the user is (under which Opportunity/Quote/Client). The page is wider than laptop screen and font size is small. Screen width issue is same as that for Salesforce so not sure whether this is within Blueprint control.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It is a delight to work with the Blue Zebra team who are quick to learn and ask very insightful questions. Very quick implementation, and any needed adjustments quick to be made. Couldn't ask for more.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Record creating and manual calculation, as well as manual loading of products is now mostly automated.

Prevents human error. Saves time uploading other documents that used to be required, less writing required.

The error-proofing possibilities that the program creates goes a long way to preventing up-front errors that cost much in terms of management time to fix as well as customer dissatisfaction.

"Blue Print Product Configurator covers all of the functionality that our complex products require"

What do you like best?

The BluePrint Configurator is feature rich and invaluable to support the selling and quoting of complex configured products. It supports both technical validity and invalidity rulesets, plus both simple and complex (scripted) pricing models. There is still functionality available that the business has not yet explored (for example graphical configuration). A very flexible team to work with, with an ability to interpret and enhance project scope documents, and contribute to efficient project execution.

What do you dislike?

Nothing really to dislike about the product or the team delivering. I could say the company is small, hence there is not a large support team, but that does mean they can be agile, and your contact is always aware of the implementation details.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Ability to ensure complex products quoted are technically valid without the need for Sales Engineers who are 100% technically trained across a wide product portfolio

Ability to ensure prices are quoted accurately (with a complex and varied pricing model to support). this also gives 3rd Party Sales Channel Partners the ability to confidently quote their Customers without the need for the parent business to prepare validated quotes (efficiency, time and cost savings)

"Blueprint is a true product configurator"

What do you like best?

When looking for a CPQ solution for a global management systems business I found that all the solutions I looked at could do guided selling, helping the user make dependent selections. Blueprint was the only solution that could go beyond that to draw together the selections, apply calculations and validations to them and output appropriate product lines. It was head and shoulders above all the other solutions I considered.

What do you dislike?

The look and feel of the product can be a bit clunky and old fashioned at times which is a shame given the level of sophistication of what's under the hood.

Highly recommended, far more sophisticated than others.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Blueprint was implemented to resolve a major business challenge in generating accurate quotes with an appropriate audit trail of how the quote was arrived at, Blueprint solved this for us very effectively making it easier to onboard new hires and give us the audit trail we required in our industry.

"Developing new functionality within our Salesforce instance "

What do you like best?

Logical layout that guides users through in a structured format.

Safegaurds and warnings to make sure users cannot progress quotes that either have insufficient information to price accurately or ones that we would be able to fulfill for business reasons.

What do you dislike?

Nothing specific encountered a this stage.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are a complex business. Quotes were time consuming, prone to user errors needing rework and relied heavily on broad technical knowledge of sales users. Signs are that fewer quotes have to be revisited, they are completed faster. This has all been done whilst also reducing the need for sales teams to have that in depth technical knowledge.

"Overall positive experience working with Blueprint CPQ and the Blue Zebra team."

What do you like best?

Adaptable and able to handle some of our more complicated processes and procedures. The Blue Zebra team has been great to work with. Extremely bright, knowledgeable.

What do you dislike?

Would have liked the appearance of the User Interface to be more in line with Salesforce.

Prior to Blueprint CPQ, we were manually calculating our durations for our proposals. With Blueprint CPQ, we can rely on the software to handle the calculations for multiple scenarios, from simple to complex. It has minimized the amount of user error involved and helped streamline our proposal process.

"Flexible, reliable and user friendly."

What do you like best?

It's set up for our business and has great flexibility. We have control of the day to day functions of the software which means we can tweak and add easily. It make producing detailed quotes easy and quick. That is important in our business where we are often working to very tight deadlines.

What do you dislike?

It's not integrated with our other systems.

"Advanced CPQ"

What do you like best?

BlueprintCPQ is a very powerful product and can cope with almost any scenario and product due to the flexibility.

This is especially true due to the ability to script product rules and pricing.

For simple products with few rules a simple configuration can be achieved without the complexity of advanced scripting.

What do you dislike?

The administration interface could be improved and modernised and there is a reasonably steep learning curve for setting up complex products.

The need to implement an easing pricing and quoting system to replace unmanageable spreadsheets and email, integrated with Salesforce as the CRM of choice.

"Good software, does the job, produces great quotes"

What do you like best?

The software is quick and easy to learn and use and is adaptable. Once the software was configured specifically for our business it has become a very useful tool to producing complex quotes easily, with revisions and additions easy to make. Good CRM too.

What do you dislike?

Email is not synchronised with Outlook, both incoming and outgoing.

Database management, promotional campaigns, bespoke and complex job quoting. These are done quickly and easily.
