"flexible fast Business Software"

What do you like best?

The flexibility and speed of the software. You can customize everything the way you need it. Queries run at high speed and you get the results you need very quickly.

The administration of the software is very easy.

You can import data from many different sources. We use it to analyse data from Oracle, MS SQL, mySQL, but also simple CSV and Text files. In Board you can combine all these sources.

You can use automatic functions to generate repeating reports.

What do you dislike?

Limitations in the time functions, eg. For example, multiple dates on a value are difficult to implement. Similar to records with a validity between two dates.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Try it and form your opinion. We visited several systems and Board we like the best.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Previously, statistics were generated from multiple systems. Today only from board. Thus, the source of the data is clearly defined. Everyone is talking about the same data.

"BOARD delivered on our expectations, on time and on budget"

What do you like best?

I like that the toolset can be used for many different business processes. It can replace passing Excel spreadsheets around, and provide effective reporting. Rather than buying several different products, we decided to purchase BOARD and slowly update our business processes to use it where appropriate. As folks are becoming more familiar with it, they're comfortable using it in place of Excel.

What do you dislike?

There are many features and options. It can sometimes be overwhelming to decide which features and options to use on which screens. Having a clear roadmap is important. There are so many things we could do with the tool, that if we didn't have clear direction on where to focus first, we would go down a rabbit hole.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Rather than investing in 10 different products, buy BOARD and use it across the company.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We wanted to provide a portal for our KPI scorecarding, controlled by Finance. As we change our strategic goals and KPIs for each business unit, we do not need to rely on IT to make any programming changes.

"Coming to the 8th Year of using BOARD"

What do you like best?

Ease of developing and delivering new budgeting or analysis features when business environment changed

Easy to integrate with databases from various platforms using its Data Readers (Ms SQL, Oracle, Excel, MySQL and so on)

Able to call to 3rd party application for black-box processing directly from Board Procedure

Seamless upgrading process from version 7 to latest version

Simple but powerful tools - although the tools are simple but they are powerful and sufficient to build solution with any level of complexity

What do you dislike?

For a conglomerate long-term detailed budgeting, processing would take longer time due to the cube structure complexity

Based on our current requirement, database duplication needs to be performed yearly in order to start fresh while keeping the multi-year budgeting of previous year

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are looking for a budgeting tool for a conglomerate , you can consider BOARD. Its features are simple to use and learning curve is fast so there is no problem in delivering a solution quick. The fact that it allows calling to external programs to do black-box processing and return back the processed result set makes it an obvious choice with reusability to prevent re-inventing what's already available.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Users can be more involved by providing their basic input during budgeting process

To simulate financial standing of various businesses involved in an organization

"BOARD as Management information System combining it's BI capabilities with CPM"

What do you like best?

- Very flexible software that can be setup in a couple of days

- User can setup it's own reports either in BOARD directly or in the Excel/Powerpoint environment

- The smaller size of the vendor allows a good relationship with consultants, technicians and marketing experts from the headquarter

- Good working interface to SAP, CRM MS Dynamics and Cognos TM1

- Very logical setup of the database structure

What do you dislike?

- The Microsoft Office addin especially is very powerful tool, on the other hand especially the Excel addin causes some crashes ad support some limited amounts of layouts

- When purchasing the software as a BI tool it has to be considered the need of a datamart.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Interface to many different external data sources.

We use it for our whole product sales, orders, stocks and margin analysis on consolidated level (25 reporting units).

"Quick intro, nice features when digging deeper"

What do you like best?

It is very easy to get into and so it allows a great self service BI. Users can just jump in. Most of it is self explaining. That's quite the exception when it comes to BI tools.

More complexity is still possible and allows for a differentiation of reports. This is always important as people will, in time, want to have some standard reports that provide more/better displayed data than what can be achieved with basic knowledge. And here is where the great community comes in; support on the board pages by board users is excellent.

It is also very easy to set up data input. This could solve many cases where otherwise Excel reports are sent accross the organisation just to fill in data with the difficulty that the format needs to be maintained.

What do you dislike?

It seems that many of the newer features are developed as islands. Sometimes they lack integration with the rest of the system. What comes to mind is the for computations of data there are "column algorithm", "nexel formulas", "rules", "analytical functions" just for the data display. One needs to be knowledgeable when to use what and they have sometimes unexpected interactions.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Ensure you know the needs of the users. Do you have many users that would like to get off Excel? Is there a need to standardise current Excel reports? Then Board is a perfect choice keeping costs and necessary knowledge low.

If you expect your users to analyse data themselves and adapt existing reports to current needs then also Board is a very good choice.

Board would be the wrong choice when it comes to pixel perfect reports. If your users don't need to modify the report layout or quickly drill down into deeper levels, then maybe Board is not necessary.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

At this stage we mostly review sales data. Board allows for much easier drill down functionality than what would be possible with Excel based reports. In comparison to bigger suites such as from IBM Cognos or Microsoft (SSAS, SSRS, SSIS) development is much quicker to get first results to the screen and the decision makers.

"The most inspiring and creative BI system I've ever used"

What do you like best?

Oncve understood, BOARD is so simple to create new models on and it inspires confidence to really try to create something that does not yet exist.

The versatility of the software means that complex models can be created which provide users with the ability to enter their own data, stored in the OLAP db but also saved to the RDB. This makes available all of the data from one system in another system.

What do you dislike?

I initially disliked the learning curve of the software, but it was really worth it. Once it is understood how BOARD works and why, modelling becomes intuitive.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Identify your actual needs and discuss thoroughly with the BOARD sales team how BOARD will benefit you. Ensure that you have a BI team to work alongside the consultants to ensure that the knowledge share takes place.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

BOARD software has given us the ability to provide our external clients with tools for them to manage and view their own property holdings. With it, they can identify EPC work, identify leases that are approaching renewal, calculate future rental income and identify individuals to discuss up coming business and points with
