What do you like best?
Chart.IO is great for who is starting. We still have all of our services hosted on Chart.IO.
Think that you have a huge database, and you want to have a drag and drop way to make all magic happens.
The organization within the dashboards is great, and you can create dynamic of static charts, using inputs from calendars, custom variables, inputs and etc.
Also, have a easy way to export each chart is amazing, many of our analyst use data from Chart.IO to calculate several KPIs in our product.
Another great feature, is the ability to work with simultaneous Data Sources, that is definetively an astonishing feature, because we have several side projects that have their own databases, and its easy like hell to make they all talk with each other and give epic insights about your business.
What do you dislike?
As i said, Chart.IO is good to start.
It turns out that, the more you grow, the more you became perfeccionist about how you dispose your Dashboards, how you link them and make them talk to each other.
Today we have a need which is not suplied by Chart.IO, we suffer from the lack of hability to DEADLY customize your charts with custom HTML, Markdown and more.
Also, many times you will find out that your dashboard will became poluted with several Charts that could really be merged in a single one if Chart.IO was more smart on this.
We miss a very important feature to create Hyperlinks on Dynamic chart data, so we could create a link on a Number generated by query, and receive a expanded vision of this number in another chart. This relationship between charts is like Hell on Chart.IO, but its also an advanced feature.
We still have many Analysts on our company worrying about Timezone all the time. I dont know, but i have this feeling that when you change the Timezone on Chart.IO settings, your only changing it for New charts generated by Drag and Drop, and not the ones with custom query. That is still a current issue on our data.
Recommendations to others considering the product
If your looking for NoSQL, better get out.
If your small, go ahead, plug your database, and you and your investors will be definetively happy.
If your big, i sugest you build your own Dashboard App.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Chart.IO give us deadly insights about our bussiness, its probably one of the core services of our business right now.
Our created dashboards give insights about Financial, Marketing, Logistic and Accounting subjects, so its hard to say what benefits we have realized, but i can say that Chart.IO helped us with SEVERAL insights about what we did and what we do.
Now that we are growing, we expect that Chart.IO grows up at the same rythm, allowing us to DEADLY customize our dashboards, export Chart Data as Power Point presentations, PDFs and things that are real used at the bussiness world of Data Analyzis.
As we are seeing that Chart.IO cannot keep up with our growing, i am really thinking (as CTO of the Company) about to build a custom Dashboard App and start to move all of the Chart IO core Charts to it and start to have FULL control of Data Analysis and Charts, which is one of the Core components of your company.
If your smart, you wont want to let these Core components in hands of Third party services or External companies.
