"Marketing Collaboration Experience"

What do you like best?

Clarizen provides a structured work flow for marketing projects that enables multiple users to collaborate on the deliverables and track progress. Overall, it achieves this goal well.

What do you dislike?

Perhaps not a dislike: Clarizen is focused on its marketing coordination features. Could it offer more supporting functionality for related needs of marketers? Perhaps, but that's not the intended goal of Clarizen, I would surmise. And that's fine. Focus on what you're good at.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Clarizen works well at least in a marketing-centric context with a marketing department interfacing with internal stakeholders to move forward marketing projects and deliverables. Understand that this is Clarizen's goal and mission - don't expect it to be something that it's not (it offers a social aspect, but let's face it, it's hard to achieve a decent % adoption company-wide without extensive promotion and buy in advocacy).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Clarizen is used by my company's marketing department to coordinate marketing support requests from hundreds of employees. My experience with the system has been fairly straightforward and positive overall. And from what I know, our marketing department has no plans to drop Clarizen for another tool since it accomplishes its goal at least adequately.

"Great for Project Management, not so great for other things"

What do you like best?

- Continuous upgrades to the product, adding useful features

- Really well designed reporting tool. Very useful and feature rich.

- Configurable to support more than just your project / program requirements (we are using it for helpdesk ticketing)

- Good time reporting / utilization capabilities.

- Good Resource Management capabilities

What do you dislike?

- Licensing (in general), is not budget friendly, compared with competitors

- While configurable to support more than just your project/ program management requirements, in hindsight, I would have stuck with just implementing project management and time management only.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Carefully consider your user licensing needs, that has been one of the biggest challenges with end-user (not department) adoption.

Look at your requirements carefully. They will promise a lot, but their core strength is project management.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It has been incredibly helpful for understanding time management/ resource management.

It is one of the primary reasons we've been able to greatly expand and been successful in our project management processes.

What Project Management solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Not great"

What do you like best?

Comprehensive project management tool with approvals and workflows.

What do you dislike?

I'm not a project manager by trade and I'm managing often 4-5 people on a 3 month project. As such, Clarizen is really tricky to use since it's not super responsive to changes as it's calculating dependencies, etc. Since I don't have many of those, it's frustrating to use the application.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Have a unified project management software across multiple divisions that is cloud based and can roll up easily the portfolio of projects we have.

"Highly Configurable SaaS Tool with Great Overall Value"

What do you like best?

The Clarizen tool is likely the most configurable SaaS tool available in the PPM world - especially when it comes to the user interface. Meeting a company's need for custom fields & workflows to support unique processes is a major selling point of the tool.

Training and support for the tool is nearly unprecedented - there is high involvement from Clarizen staff to ensure both Administrators & End-Users have the assistance they need to utilize the breadth and depth of the offering in both a highly usable & highly available manner.

I believe one of Clarizen's strongest points of appeal is that it seems to be able to uniquely meet the needs of the SMB all the way up to true enterprise requirements for PMO's.

What do you dislike?

While V6 has brought with it a phenomenal amount of customization of the entire UI, I think there is a need for Clarizen to strike a better balance between providing more pre-configured interface & workflow options for those organizations that don't need that level customization, as it can be overwhelming.

Though it's understandable from the need to "support" the infrastructure (and from a revenue perspective, I'm sure), I think the current licensing limitations on workflow rules, but more importantly custom field creation, as well as the process by which those limitations are "calculated" is a little convoluted.

While mobile app is is fantastics, it's only available for Apple products and not for Android users, so for us, doesn't really provide any value (the supported Android app is the old mobile app and isn't very useful).

Recommendations to others considering the product

Clarizen has a ton of customization, but there a number of things that you'd expect to be able to do out-of-the-box that have to be setup via the customization/configuration settings. That being said, don't even bother with the Professional-level licensing, as you only a get a few customizations.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The Clarizen tool has greatly increased not only the visibility of projects across our internal organization, but has been able to allow us to provide better, more consistent project visibility to our customers as well.

Having a single place that is accessible on-demand for managing projects across our team has been a huge gain in efficiency.

"Configurable, Customizable and Collaborative"

What do you like best?

Clarizen is the best project portfolio management system that I've used and we've tried several other products in the past. I really enjoy the familiarity of the interface (anyone who uses social media feels right at home) but also the hidden depth with workflows and the InterAct engine.

If you can dream it up, Clarizen can likely do it with a few custom fields, custom workflows or a free app from the marketplace. The amount of customization that you can do to tailor the environment to work for you is amazing.

Nearly any view or screen you have setup in Clarizen can be shared with other users - even those without a Clarizen license. This capability is a real game changer for our ability to bring all of our users into the conversation, not just those with licenses.

What do you dislike?

Clarizen is not the cheapest solution out there - but it is worth what it costs

Recommendations to others considering the product

Try out the product and attend some demonstration sessions - the product really sells itself and it is easy to see how you can utilize it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are utilizing Clarizen for project portfolio management and for IT request intake and prioritization for all of our systems. We have realized a great improvement in efficiency, ease of tracking requests, and the ability to track resource utilization across all projects. The collaborative sharing capabilities are a huge plus for our business as well.

"Clarizen has improved our operations ten fold"

What do you like best?

Clarizen is great out of the box but has a fantastic configuration platform. As a software design firm, we value flexibility and really know what the web can do for us, so it's nice to see that Clarizen has developed a platform that we can use to streamline our processes even further!

What do you dislike?

Coming from an ERP system, the reporting was hard to ramp up on as it is very simple and straightforward, seems a bit backwards but it took awhile for me to wrap my brain around the simplicity. Where it could improve is reports on summarizing data, however, the excel plug-in can be used along with pivot tables for incredibly powerful results.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Definitely sign up for the trial and get as many people as possible to play with it. Also, the implementation package was a definite delight and if you have developers in your company, make sure that one of them sits in and learns how to use the configuration platform as it's very powerful and easiest for a developer to ramp up, but anyone can use it!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

No one likes to do timesheets, however, as a professional services firm, they critical to our business. Clarizen has made timesheets more accurate and quicker to get in, making invoicing run a lot smoother at the end of the month! We have also seen a great adoption from our project managers and functional managers, seeing when people become available easily as well as project data is now highly visible and easy to consume.

"Clarizen Project Management - Powerful, Intuitive & Flexible - The perfect tool!"

What do you like best?

Clarizen is so easy to use, the vast majority of our users were up and running within minutes with only a basic training session. The powerful social module incorporates in-context discussions within each project, even to a task level. Flexibility is a very strong feature, with easily customisable screens, without the expensive 'professional support' some solutions require. Equally Clarizen's App Marketplace has many modules you can deploy, most of which are free.

What do you dislike?

The only area I feel that Clarizen requires significant improvement is in reporting. While all the typical basic reporting is well covered and comprehensive, we have requirements for much more complex reports that are not achievable using the reporting tool. Having said that it is so easy to export data from the system, we have developed these reports outside the solution using standard programs.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Clarizen is a great solution, feature rich and extremely flexible. With this level of flexibility I would suggest anyone considering Clarizen ensures they know what they are trying to achieve, though the Clarizen team are very good at assisting in identifying this with you.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Prior to deploying Clarizen, we managed our projects using a mix of MS products (Project, Excel etc.) as our portfolio of projects grew this became increasingly unstable and unsustainable. Deploying a full featured PPM solution has enabled us to easily see a real-time overview of our projects, both in terms of progress and in effort. Time reporting has also been included with a custom module developed specifically to meet our requirements.

"Easy to use project management software"

What do you like best?

Clarizen has all of the power features I would expect in a project management software. Access / Roles are also customize-able so that I have control over who who can interact with the project. The export options for reporting are a huge time saver.

What do you dislike?

There is a slight lag in the hosted version. It hasn't been a huge problem, but it can be noticeable at times and does slow me down. I also wish there were more keyboard shortcuts available so that I could quickly perform data entry on project tasks without having to use the mouse to click.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Project tracking, Resource loading, Reporting, creating visibility into Projects, Programs, & Portfolios.

"Powerful - Unstructured - Unusual Customer Attitude"

What do you like best?

It's configurable. It's rated well. It would be hard to ask a question during pre-sales they cannot say yes to.

What do you dislike?

It's configurable. It's very easy to get into trouble with the product. For what is a financial system of record for us, it's incredibly easy to get disinformation. Clarizen is resistant to supply consultants, even when we offer to pay, in the quantity or duration we request. It is difficult to get best practice recommendations from them.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be aware that their implementation services come from another vendor (spinoff from Clarizen) and that the handoff isn't great, and the services company may not really care what the Clarizen sales person sold. There also appears to be a complete lack of partners in the ecosystem if you want to hire other consultants.

"Clarizen enterprise PMO user"

What do you like best?

Clarizen provided an intuitive portfolio view of all the projects in an organization. It was also easy to start new projects and collaborate with end users on projects and tasks.

What do you dislike?

The change management and roll out was too long. Basic reporting took too long to roll out and it was not accompanied with any training and ultimately was not useful.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure you have a clear rollout plan for the software and that you have a clear path for change management. Having an organization that is project focused or familiar with the process of project planning and task management would be most helpful ensure success. Ideally a phased rollout with a couple of projects selected to be walked through the use of clarizen would likely lead to more success.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Problem was to get an enterprise portfolio view of all the projects in the organization. It did not receive these benefits and ultimately we made the decision to no longer use the software.

"Clarizen for Project Management"

What do you like best?

Key features that we use: Salesforce integration; document or file management integration with Box; social collaboration; dashboards; automated notifications; work flow rules; customer collaborator feature; scheduled reports; project highlight reports; Gantt Chart and Road map widgets; customizable app plug-ins; and customizations galore.

What do you dislike?

Areas for improvement: Out of the box Clarizen offers "canned reports" but it was not easy to learn how to create the customized reports that I needed for my business unit. It would have been nice to have a report suite that contained examples tied to a business question or objective in order to better understand the application and use of the canned or dashboards reports. The Salesforce integration model did not provide the level of API security that our IT Security team required. The tool did not offer the data file security required by our IT Security team to use the Clarizen standard data file management features so we had to integrate with Box for file managemen

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

MedImpact is a Pharmacy Benefits Management company with about 1001 to 5000 employees. Clarizen was selected to be the Project Management tool for the Implementation Services business unit. The Implementation Services team did not have a cohesive way to manage the New Client implementation projects. The existing tools and manual processes limited the capacity of new client projects that the business unit could accommodate and made it difficult to track down related emails, files, and decisions. If our sales teams have a really good year we would exceed our capacity to implement new business. For sustainability we had to move out of the dark ages of project management, Clarizen was our “light at the end of a tunnel”. Clarizen offers the best of social media, project management principles, work-flow automation, and an intuitive user interface design. Clarizen “Partners” with you to provide the best the tool can offer to improve your daily operations and reduce manual processes. The Clarizen Customer Success Team provides the best support and guidance that I have seen in years. This growing company is setting the bar for business to business relationships and project management solutions. While this tool was selected for one small business unit we are expecting that the tool will be used by many other business units as the versatility of the tool can accommodate their project management business needs.

"Time Tracking, Support Tickets and Expenses All in One Place"

What do you like best?

It's fantastic to have one program to use for so many functions. Clarizen is where I track my time, submit expense reports and requests for IT help and manage PTO requests.

What do you dislike?

It's not the easiest software to use and has a bit of a learning curve. There are so many aspects to it (it's so complicated) that it can take a long time to learn. Also, the interface is not the most intuitive and looks cluttered and complicated.

Recommendations to others considering the product

You'll need to plan for a few training sessions when introducing new employees to Clarizen; it's not intuitive and takes a while to learn.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Clarizen allows my agency to track time spent on various agency projects and manage expenses related to those projects.

"Just an OK product"

What do you like best?

Clarizen keeps all of our marketing team informed on all project status' and provides the visibility we need into every project across the organization. It is also great for the history function and being able to go back and reference projects from years past.

What do you dislike?

Clarizen makes it very difficult to enter projects. It is extremely cumbersome to set up and activate a project, especially when projects are very detailed and lengthily like ours.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Clarizen gives us visibility into projects and cuts back on the back and forth between project owners and the functional teams.

"Clarizen Project Management"

What do you like best?

Lots of customization, tons of data, and a SQL-like API. The support crew is amazing. Hands-down the best, on par with Rackspace.

What do you dislike?

I wish it was cheaper. Or had more flexible options for purchasing. It's not bad, but who doesn't want cheaper stuff? The lack of a canned process for rookie project managers is a hurdle. You'll want to train some people on Project Management skills before/while implementing Clarizen.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Train your staff in project management alongside rolling out Clarizen. It won't teach you. It won't give you a process to go by. It will give you tons of options and customization you can use to make it work for you.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We moved from a basic time-tracking app to Clarizen. Now we can make decision based on hard data, and not have to deep-dive to do it. Before, obligations were being skipped and now employees get a clear list of things to accomplish, timeframes to do them in, and a project to hold it all and sum it up. We get reporting, and details via the API, too. There's a ton of customization we leverage to make it fit our process, in a good way. Managers have crystal clear visibility to the status of the projects. Time gets entered on time, and tasks get accomplished on time. Before, the lack of visibility meant we often didn't know until it was far too late.

"Best Cloud Based PM Tool"

What do you like best?

Simple interface that integrates with SharePoint for visualizations. Easy export to Excel and MS Project. On-line learning through Clarizen University is top notch.

What do you dislike?

Not much to dislike. The reports could be a bit easier to customize by adding the ability too add more custom fields

Recommendations to others considering the product

Project Management light. Easier than PM Project with very good tracking visuals.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our typical Pharmaceutical PM tools are very heavy and detail oriented. Clarizen offers a light touch version to track projects at a high level. The visualization in SharePoint allows top management to review in an easy format.

"Endless Customization but difficult to use/learn"

What do you like best?

I like that I am able to see how my task is related to a bigger project and the other dependencies that are related to the project. It helps with transparencies and eliminating silos. Clarizen is can be completely custom based on your needs, which is great for large companies where certain team members handle certain tasks/projects.

What do you dislike?

It's very difficult to learn, there are a lot of buttons/clicks to get to where you need to go or to find certain things that are needed to complete your task. This could be because of how customized our instance is.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Clarizen is helping us provide transparency across our marketing department and it allows stakeholders to see where there are bottlenecks and areas/processes we can change for the better.

"Powerful and flexible"

What do you like best?

Clarizen lets me work the way I want to. At the core, it is a powerful PSA solution yet it highly configurable and allows me to create custom workflows, custom fields and validation rules to ensure we are supporting our business requirements.

What do you dislike?

The reporting module needs some work. Most of the standard reports are not editable therefore they have little value as we regularly need to modify reports to include specific information. Also, my biggest pet peeve is that the columns in views are not "sticky" They seem to have a mind of their own. Some columns display much larger than needed while others are significantly minimized. If Clarizen fixed one thing this would be it, from my perspective.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Don't under estimate the level of effort to implement Clarizen. Out of the box you can get the Clarizen solution up and going quickly, however to leverage the full capabilities of the solution takes significant planning and implementation. Leverage the wealth of information that Clarizen provides. The "office hours" seminars are excellent for asking questions and configuring your environment.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Improved consistency of delivery across our project portfolio. Improved visibility of all project activities. Key performance indicators to allow us to effectively manage our business and drive ongoing improvements.

What do you like best?

"Best decision for an online PM system!"

What do you like best?

Clarizen exceeded each of our requirements!

I liked best its user friendliness, flexibility (which allowed us to customize the system to fit exactly to our needs), and the fact that Clarizen integrates with other systems. We already had a CRM for our sales divisions and an ERP system for our Finance, so we had to find a solution that will integrate with these two, and we deployed Clarizen at the heart of our work environment.

Last but not least - their service and support is one of kind!

What do you dislike?

It doesn't know to make coffee..... ;-)

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are using Clarizen for all project's task management, time reporting, budget tracking, deadlines and communication. The flexibility of the system, which allowed us to customize a database of translators according to our special requirements - is amazing! and the greatest benefit is the time saving and efficiency we gained by integrating Clarizen with our Finance ERP. Not only we get a real-time information now, but we also saved a lot of time by automating our processes (for example: issuing POs and invoices approval process is done using Clarizen and saved hundreds of hours per year!).

"Best In Class "

What do you like best?

Clairzen is a robust cloud based project management software for the collaboration age. The flexibility to adapt and mold your instance to suit the individual business needs is extraordinary. Clarizen has provided a more efficient way to manage our projects while reducing key detractors such as meeting times, project lengths, etc.

Of all the tools in the enterprise Clarizen affords any company the needed flexibility to have the software work for you not against you.

What do you dislike?

Clarizen can be cumbersome for end users; in the current v6 version through all the customization the instance has lost major screen real estate and or functionality. No longer is the tool as simple as it once was which is a major pain point for new users of the application.

Additionally; Clarizen can be complicated when it comes to customization needed; experience in html programming is necessary or reliance on Clarizen increases tremendously.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

More efficient project execution - Through a collaborative enviornment project managers no longer have to wait for a meeting.

Resource capacity planning - Visibility into individual project manager load is not a real and tangible item

Executive Updates - Gone are the days of ppt. slides or ad-hoc reports - system generated dashboards and reporting are now providing actionable information

"Clarizen: Quite simply - The future,,,,,,,"

What do you like best?

Pros:

+ Excellent Project & Work Item management.

+ Powerful Enterprise discussion module which link into everything Clarizen does, from Projects to issues.

+ A customisation engine to build custom workflows, fields, views and even your own HTML/Javascript front end panels (for your own Forms etc).

+ Reporting and Dashboards, again with custom reporting.

+ A best-of-class Customer Services and community and quick responses.

+ A public product Roadmap which you can contribute to, with regular releases with new functionality.

+ Rich API for developers to hook into.

+ Growing community of Clarizen users and an App Marketplace of customisations, built using Clarizens own custom engine.

+ Collaboration extends to users outside of Clarizen itself (Sharing reports & widgets).

What do you dislike?

Cons:

- Clarizen sells Agile support. Yes there is a Team board, burndown charts etc, but the implementation is not good.

- The amount of options available can be overwhelming until you have got to grips with the product.

- Security groups within Clarizen needs to be out of the box and not a custom workflow. At the moment, there isnt a simple way of creating confidential Projects.

Recommendations to others considering the product

You cannot beat this product, the products team who support it. Of course there are negatives (no one is perfect), but the goodness just oozes from it - so who cares.

"Works for time card, not impressed with project management tools"

What do you like best?

The timesheet works well. You are able to add your time and comments to a task easily. The app allows you to do this too. Percent complete on tasks is also useful, that that can only be done through the website.

What do you dislike?

It doesn't give you the tools to really know what is going on in a project. I have timesheet only access, quick doesn't help. For instance, if 2 people are working on a task, and you assign both people to that task, things like percent complete, billable rates, etc don't work. You really have to duplicate the task and add one person to each duplicate. And if you mark a task 100% complete - there is no prompt to re-assign those hours! So if there are 8 unused hours from a task, and another task is 10 hours over - the admin has to notice that and re-distribute, there is not prompt.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I don't think I would

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are a consultancy, so hours REALLY matter. We have to watch really closely that everyone on the team is spending the time they need to and no more, and on what tasks. And if a task is going to go over, where that time can be taken from.

"Clarizen: The Tie That Binds"

What do you like best?

Clarizen has been the glue that binds together functional groups through a high level of trust that projects will be completed on time. Adjunctively the ability to manage a diverse pool of resources, both human and equipment, at the macro and micro levels allows us to achieve the flexibility and scaleability we need to be successful.

Though I may have some small quibbles with the product, these are overshadowed by its robustness and the quality and quantity of training resources available. Well done!

What do you dislike?

Clarion allows users to deploy customization in the form of pre-packaged solutions or user-defined customizations, the number of customizations allowed is limited in all but the most expensive packages. I think users would appreciate more customizations in the standard packages.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Attend their webinars. They are the fastest way to climb the learning curve.

"Fantastic Software that is willing to adapt to your needs. "

What do you like best?

Clarizen has been the perfect Project Management tool for my team. We implement time and attendance software for companies across the country and were using multiple outdated Project Management tools to accomplish that which required duplicate entry. Since we have started with Clarizen my employees are so much happier working in one system managing their day.

We have asked Clarizen to write a few workflows for us to streamline our process. One particular that is working out great for us is what is called our "Complexity" system. We implement clients of all sizes that have all sorts of needs and through this Complexity system Clarizen has helped us better identify more complex clients so that we can accurately assign the appropriate client to the appropriate implementation consultant on our team so that someone who is newer and not as experienced is not getting our most complex clients.

What do you dislike?

The lack of full Outlook integration would be our biggest dislike right now. We would love the ability to schedule a meeting on our Work Plan in Clarizen and have it automatically set up and Outlook invite as the specific times the meeting is scheduled for. Right now it only creates an all day event.

We would also like to implement email templates into Clarizen so that when certain meetings or deadlines are approaching we can email manually or even better automatically those reminder templates to clients that remind them of the date/time of the meeting as well as any further information needed or attachments.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Come in with an open mind as their development team is fantastic in meeting your needs with any quirky ideas that you may have to improve the software.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

My team implements time and attendance software in which we follow a specific timeline with a client with certain milestones to achieve that. With Clarizen the process is fantastic knowing where we are with a client at all times.

"The flexibility of Clarizen makes it the perfect tool for any organization"

What do you like best?

What makes Clarizen stand out is the ability to truly customize the system to your needs. I frequently tell people "Clarizen wraps around your organizations processes, you don't have to bend your processes to wrap around Clarizen". Clarizen has been the perfect for my organization because of this.

What do you dislike?

There really isn't much to dislike. From the flexibility to great documentation and support I believe most will find Clarizen easy to get setup for your needs.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Get the trial period with Clarizen. Work with a customer success manager and configure the system to you basic liking. Take the time to understand what Clarizen is capable of and the choice should be clear.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Business problem:

• A lack of project metrics, which led to “guesswork” on behalf of project managers and the PMO

• Weak or non-existent effort data, which made it impossible to accurately track time spent on projects

• An absence of work notes -- the PMO had no idea what was going on outside of weekly project meetings

Requirements:

• Robust API tool set to connect with existing technologies

• Versatile in order to fit in the “middle” of our environment

• Capture project metrics – particularly effort/time tracking

• Give PMO insights into project costs and actual resource utilization

• Store and organize work notes

• Enable ongoing, real-time project visibility

• Accessible by all necessary team members, not just PMO staff

• User friendly to avoid triggering change management issues

Results:

• Monthly, status and time updates risen from almost none to 2,500 updates/month and 3,400 hours labor/month

• Seamless integration with Clarizen, ServiceNow and homegrown time management tool synchronizes data daily between all 3 systems for real-time visibility

• Efficiently creating time cards and discussion threads, as well as updating project tasks and resource assignments

• Capturing and organizing in-context work notes attached to specific projects

• Managing task assignments vs. employees being caught off guard

• Effectively tracking effort, cost and resource utilization

• Accessing ongoing, real-time project visibility beyond the PMO

"Clarizen and Portfolio and Project Management"

What do you like best?

Clarizen provides almost every capability required for project and portfolio management. It is an extremely friendly configurable product. The ability to add custom fields, custom actions and workflow rules allow you to make the product fit for your organization. The help and support methodology that Clarizen provides suites almost every learner, but my favorite is the webinars (which is "free consulting").

Every month / quarter you can expect something new and useful to be rolled out by the product team. The Reports and Dashboard capability they provided last year was excellent.

What do you dislike?

Templates are a little difficult to manage. You create a project and then save it as a template. You cannot modify the template after saving it without creating a new project from the template or save the original project (which has a risk that the saved project may get updated and now not match the template.

The second dislike is that tasks are managed by work, duration or unit. In our business the templates define tasks by work and duration. There is no easy way to ensure these fields stay locked and when assigning resources to a task the work can get way overstated.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I use a commercial phrase I remember "Try it you'll like it!"

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

At this point we are establishing the foundation for the benefits we we realize in the near future. All of our projects are now being managed within 2 of our portfolios. Using dashboards we can easily see a top level to the business. We have designed them for all levels of the business (Portfolio Director, Project Manager, Functional Manager, Engineer). Our Labs are also managing all of the requests and have improved on the communication and delivery of the requests.

"Excellent Time Tracking and Client Accountability"

What do you like best?

Utilizing Clarizen, I can easily share project plans with my client. The ability to store all communication transmitted to the client via email is fantastic as well. It's nice to have one repository for all my information. Clarizen offers a robust select of canned reporting with the ability to customize if needed.

What do you dislike?

New to the application but, no dislikes at the moment.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With Clarizen, I have the ability to engage the client and hold them more accountable for their tasks. I also have the ability to closely monitor PM's and track any risks associated with projects.

"Clarizen User's Experience"

What do you like best?

Clarizen makes it quick and easy to keep track of time and projects.

What do you dislike?

Because of how granular it needs to be, sometimes it can be confusing to find the project to track time against. It can also be slow to respond, and some of the buttons seem to be hidden - you definitely have to do some searching to figure out how to complete a task.

Recommendations to others considering the product

You have to have clear definitions for time-tracking categories in order to make them useful to your users.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Time tracking and project tracking. The biggest realized benefit is having a source of truth for man hours on projects.

"No other option"

What do you like best?

The user friendliness of Clarizen can not be beat. Recently, our company moved to Clarizen for project tracking and the transition couldn't have been easier. Employees rave about the ease of the system.

What do you dislike?

If i had to choose, the disconnect between Projects and tasks on the same view.

It would be nice to have these without the need of workflows to integrate them.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Very easy system to use. Fully configurable and great support.

"More flexible than MS Project & Integrates well with Salesforce"

What do you like best?

We can build our own business rules and processes. Reporting has improved substantially in the last year. We stood up Clarizen quickly and have been able to evolve it's capabilities as our team has grown. It also has significant SFDC integration.

What do you dislike?

We'd always like more reporting options and more custom workflow options because we're looking to push the tool further. To Clarizen's credit they've continued to enhance these areas over the last two years.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Focus on aligning your use cases to Clarizen's capabilities. Understand which integrations you'd want to launch with. Leverage Clarizen's services teams. Ask a lot of questions on how project and task level settings (like actual effort tracking, reportable items, etc) will impact your configuration.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Running our professional services business. We have strong end-to-end visibility from the time we close our sale to delivery to measuring results afterwards.

What do you dislike?

The downside to 'very detailed' is the complexity that comes along with it

"Unfriendly, overly busy interface, may be good for reports but not for user-friendliness"

What do you like best?

We use this at work for time sheets and it's easy to see weekly hours.

What do you dislike?

Not user friendly for the employee at least, should be able to easily see my own PTO usage etc, but not so.

Recommendations to others considering the product

See if there is a more user-friendly option otherwise be sure your administrator sets it up as simply as possible (we had too many job codes to start with and have slimmed them down).

"Great Project Management Software with Automated Notifications and Workflow Options"

What do you like best?

The collaboration features are very good. As a manager or team leader, it makes it very simple to receive project notifications in your email without having to log into the system. Also, Clarizen makes it very easy to house all project documentation in one location, preventing the need to spread it between systems. Lastly, Clarizen has improved our billing and time tracking since we can record our timesheets directly to the project tasks.

What do you dislike?

Clarizen has recently begun investing in reporting and dashboarding, but there are still a few downfalls. The current ones are quite good, but can be limiting when looking across modules/tables (i.e. projects, timesheet, tasks, etc.) Also, the formatting on the Excel exports could be improved for "data dumps". They currently require some manual manipulation before analysis.

Also, their Customer feature could use some improvements. When you are tracking project information, you commonly want to do analysis on your customers from a sales and marketing perspective. Improved CRM type features would be welcomed.

Recommendations to others considering the product

You maximize the benefits by trying to employ as much of the functionality as you can. Also, before you build a custom field or process, review the stock ones to avoid duplication. We did most of the implementation ourselves, and made this mistake which caused some clean up after the fact.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Problems solved:

Eliminated and improved upon disparate systems for project status, timekeeping, and documentation.

Benefits:

1. Real Time Project Status

2. More Accurate Billing

3. Better Management Reporting

"Clarizen Review"

What do you like best?

I liked how it "plays well" with other programs, like salesforce. It is very easy to create reports and have them download into excel. The previous program didn't do that. And we weren't really able to create out own reports. Clarizen just made more sense when building out a schedule.

What do you dislike?

I feel that the aesthetics could use a little oomph. And maybe have the program available for short term projects. It is used at an agency that does email marketing, so projects have VERY quick turnaround.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I recommend Clarizen to others for the simple reason that the support was fantastic, I wasn't made to feel stupid when I didn't understand something, and the product itself works and works well. It plays well with other programs that many companies use.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were trying to minimize the steps and shave time off of projects. With the help of Clarizen, we were able to do that and save the company money.

"Clarizen is nice tool"

What do you like best?

I like that Clarizen is easy to use...once you get the hang out it. Some views and functions are not intuitive, but after a walk through of the tool it becomes easier to use. I love how you can customize Clarizen to do pretty much anything.

What do you dislike?

I wish you could isolate time tracking at certain points in time, not just sort by dates. I would love to be able and see a summation of all time logged last month, without having to factor in time logged yesterday.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Remember that you can customize almost anything! Ask your consultant if you need help.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are keeping track of projects and the progress of consultants. The tool is drastically easier to use compared to JIRA, which we were using before. Overall, I think Clarizen is an awesome tool and has really helped to optimize our business.

I like the easy access to timesheet and the customizable areas to specifics fields that gives me an easy birds eye view where the project is and whrer is heading.

What do you dislike?

Recommendations to others considering the product

"Useful, but Complicated"

What do you like best?

Clarizen helps us get the job done, manage workload, and keep track of tasks and time in an effective manner.

What do you dislike?

Clarizen always seems to have bugs and has caused a number of confusing and frustrating situations for employees who rely on it to keep track of their schedule resulting in incomplete work or time waste.

Recommendations to others considering the product

The latest releases of Clarizen are far superior to what it was when I first began using the platform. It is much simpler, easier to use and understand, and employees have fewer problems and bugs.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We needed a platform to effectively manage billable time, organize tasks, assign work, split tasks, and help with the sales process to understand where we stood with billable/unbillable time. Clarizen has helped us understand better when to hire new employees, what upcoming months look like and more.

What do you like best?

I like that it is web based and multiple resources can access it and use it to conduct their day to day business. The new Social features in Clarizen are a great way to keep your entire team up to date with status of projects without even leaving Clarizen.

What do you dislike?

Being that it is web based, it is a bit buggy sometimes. When changing items in a project schedule you sometimes have to refresh the page in order for changes to show.

"Be ready to invest a lot of time"

What do you like best?

Clarizen promises a lot of collaboration tools and visibility across our organization. Our team was excited by the bells and whistles.

What do you dislike?

Ultimately we found the sales reps didn't understand our business needs and we wasted a 1 year license and a lot of time trying to "make the shoe fit". If you go forward with Clarizen be ready to spend a lot of time customizing. In theory, "Clarizen can do anything". But we found the workarounds that would be required to get it to fit our workflows were not usable for our business and the documentation provided wasn't up to date. On top of this our customer "success" representative changed at least 3 times.

"Solid Project Management Tool!!"

What do you like best?

Overall, the tool is easy to use and can be configured to fit the project structure of your organization. Templates allow you to create projects easily, and adding Tasks and Milestones make it easy to adapt them to your needs.

What do you dislike?

inputting Time Entries are easy. However, reporting out is cumbersome and complex. It should be easier to do a simple time export and analyze what your team is tracking. Ideally, this should be data that can be seen within the tool. Instead, you have to export to excel, and then do some clean-up and formatting just to do basic calculations and analysis. Because it was not easily done, we did this process less-frequently than we would have liked.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Clarizen has awesome resources: Forum, Content Library, Webex Sessions, and their in-house consultants. Between these, you should be able to get any answers that you need without spending a lot of time/money on 3rd Party consultants (assuming you have the in-house resources to devote to this).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were trying to document and standardize our implementation process. Project Managers were using spreadsheets and other tools to track their projects. Those options do not scale, and make it difficult to report and collaborate on. Clarizen allowed us to organize our teams and resources, document our processes, and track our team's progress.

"Clarizen is a helpful tool in managing project timelines."

What do you like best?

It is easy to customize the tasks for any current project template. It is also easy to add dependencies. The discussion posting feature is very helpful, especially when you need to look back and see the history of what has happened on a particular project.

What do you dislike?

Recommendations to others considering the product

Clarizen is useful in keeping track of many projects at the same time when the projects all have different timelines.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am able to be more specific in my tracking (using additional templates) for work that was previously all grouped into an ad hoc category. The updated version of Clarizen is much cleaner and organized when keeping track of my projects and tasks. It is much more user friendly and our organization has seen an increase in productivity and efficiency.

The only aspect I wish the new platform had would be the ability to email all members of a project group if any update for the project is made.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The ability to complete modeling solutions.

"Clean User Interface"

What do you like best?

I like the recent adjustments to Clarizen that brought it up to the new online technology phase. It's a very clean user interface design that makes it easily customizable for the end-user. What I love most is that I can create my own views however I would like and it doesn't affect other users.

What do you dislike?

I dislike that there is not a better mobile site or app that mimics the website.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are trying to give visibility to workload, workflow and resource scheduling. I have easily realized the true amount of time it takes for my team to work on projects and tasks.

"Clarizen Review"

What do you like best?

Very good project management solution, but fairly inflexible. The Product Portfolio features are extensive.

What do you dislike?

The budget and expenses area is a little overwhelming given the amount of detail needed. Definitely overkill for most non-software development projects.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Overkill for what we were trying to accomplish. Definitely cannot approach this thinking it will be easy to use.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were trying to find a cost-effective, easy-to-use project management solution for handing product management tasks. Realistically, it was more comprehensive than what our needs were. We ended up wasting a one year license.

"Great if you like a cartoonish baby-blue Fisher-Price interface"

What do you like best?

I like that it tries to be pretty comprehensive.

What do you dislike?

The Windows-like cheap looking interface.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you're looking for a PSA solution try Mavenlink which is much better and has full integration with Quickbooks Online. If you want something easier and simpler to use try Basecamp which integrates with FreeAgent online accounting. Smartsheet is also great but doesn't have direct accounting integration.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Tried it but didn't like it so I haven't realized any benefits.
