"Facil de implementar y gran rendimiento"

What do you like best?

What do you dislike?

Recommendations to others considering the product

Esta es una gran herramienta que no puede faltar en tu sitio web, fácil de configurar e implementar, tiene un plan gratuito que le dará un extra de seguridad y podrá cambiar a un plan pro/superior con forme su sitio web vaya necesitando

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Ahorras ancho de banda y ganas en seguridad, evitando el ddos, spam, los robots araña y un largo etc...

"Best Analytics server for your website"

What do you like best?

With CloudFlare i can monitoring my website traffic and see how many unique visitors i have every 24 hours, where they are from and even with they search for us on any search engine.

Through this information about my website you can adapt my content to atract more users and more customers. CloudFlare guarantee that my site won't slow down due to trafict, because the offers a service of Cached Bandwidth that allows my to saved bandwidth and to do less request to my server and slow it down

What do you dislike?

The information presented is only of the pass 24 hour for more close to "real time" you must buy the pro and enterprise plans. In the free version i can only have the information about the last month (bandwidth use, requests, unique visitors, etc) but i can save it to file and download, maybe there's a option in the pay version but i don't know.

Recommendations to others considering the product

try the free version first, that way you now that you want and how much you can spend on their services.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The grow of my website depends in how well i do to attract new customers, users, so i use the information about their location, how many unique users i have and how many of those users return to ajust my content and keep the visits up based on the performance (24hrs, 1 week or 1 month)

"CDN Power for business"

What do you like best?

Honestly, I like that you get the power of a full-fledged CDN for business or even personal projects at an affordable price. The best part is that it's more than just a CDN. Baseline firewall, DNS, caching, DDoS protection are all great services available; many on the free tier! Another great feature for us is the CMS integration for sites that use Wordpress and the caching of dynamic content. We have found this to work really well. We tried some of the internal caching products for platforms like Wordpress and found that they weren't as reliable or as fast as we wanted. They also didn't give us any caching and content delivery when the site would go through a short outage for maintenance or other reasons. Cloudflare provided this additional feature for us.

What do you dislike?

There have been some outages over the last few years and some high profile security concerns but they have shown that they are responsive and up-front with these fixing problems quickly.

Recommendations to others considering the product

There are other CDN providers out there but this one seems to be the best mix of features and affordability tiers for any size implementation.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We needed a CDN that was affordable for our large and small sites. The free tier was a great fit for those small sites providing some firewalling and caching for those sites. For the larger sites, we're using much more of the product and have seen substantial load reductions on our primary web servers. This has been a nice bonus for us. Lower load = higher performance.

"The best CDN for small-medium business"

What do you like best?

Easy to setup, good value for the price, many features, all you need in other words.

Obviously to feel the whole power of the service you need to be an Enterprise client, where you get lots of features that allowyou configuring CloudFlare right up to your needs. Except many features that come with Enterprise plan, you get their amazing customer success team that is always ready to help and really helpful.

What do you dislike?

DNS management UI could be much better. Right now it's really simple and is more oriented on novice users than professionals.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you don't have an active CDN, even just setting up Cloud Flare on the free plan is going to give a value. Being on Enterprise plan is totally worth it in my case.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Content delivery and caching. Content caching helps to reduce load on origin servers, thus reducing the number of servers needed for the platform to run.

"A Free Plan Offering Premium Features"

What do you like best?

The free plan on CloudFlare is simply unbelievable value. For the low cost of nothing, you gain a world class CDN system which offers enterprise level security that rivals many premium, high cost solutions. The variety of features is astonishing too, with free SSL certificates, caching services and advanced analytics included also with the free plan.

What do you dislike?

It's hard to fault CloudFlare, but if I were to criticise something it would be that many of the caching features cause severe breakage to a site. For example, whenever I enable the Rocket Loader my WordPress sites are always broken in some form. However, beggars can't be choosers and these issues can simply be averted by not enabling this feature.

Recommendations to others considering the product

With a free product such as CloudFlare it is hard to go wrong, and is very easy to go right. It's definitely worth trying out the software for yourself and seeing how it can improve your website infrastructure.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The main reason we first started using CloudFlare within our business was to upgrade all of our sites to SSL effortlessly, in preparation for the new Google HTTPS stricter rules. CloudFlare served this function perfectly, saving us money on advanced SSL certificates as well as time on installing these certificates manually. Since then, we have explored the other features of CloudFlare and impressed has been an understatement. As stated earlier, the benefits of CloudFlare are simply astonishing for a free product.

"Reliable, Affordable CDN!"

What do you like best?

CloudFlare makes it VERY simple and easy to use their Content Delivery Network which in turn speeds up your website and enhances content delivery!

What do you dislike?

There are some complications with integration that may just be beyond my personal understanding. I wish there were more free features and examples of how certain features would help my site.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Perfect CDN for your website needs. Easy to get setup and going with CloudFlare. Simply plug in your website URL and their system will determine any changes or updates that you need to make. The simple DNS change is also easy to manage.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Ability to serve images from a CDN improving website speed and performance. Uptime guaranteed and delivered through SSL. The time and speed improvement make a better mobile delivery of the website as well.

"Poor on-boarding for high volume e-com clients. "

What do you like best?

The dashboard is filled with advanced settings and easy to read information.

There is a decent amount of FAQ and Help pages

What do you dislike?

On-boarding support is non-existent. If you have an issue setting things up expect a period of extended downtime.

Ticket responses are inconsistent. Sometimes a reply within 5-10 minutes. Other times up to 50 minutes for a response.

A definite push to getting people onto Enterprise plans despite the jump from Business to Enterprise being $200 - $5000 per month simply so you can access telephone support. Perhaps that is why the rest of the support is so poor.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would carefully consider how much downtime you might expect when switching.

You will have to balance

1) Doing the downtime during day-time when support is more responsive but when your customers may be online

2) Doing the downtime out of ours when support is almost non-existent.

You should also consider any other integrations or API's going to your server. For example Linnworks seems to have an issue talking to your server through Cloudflare without additional rules being set up.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Nothing yet. After first day we have had to disable the kit as it was not functioning properly.

"CloudFlare Cloud Protection"

What do you like best?

I like many things with CloudFlare, the first being the great customer support received from the team. On a few occasions I needed to contact support and in all cases my questions were answered in great detail. Then I like the robustness of the solution and ability to protect our web presence.

What do you dislike?

At this time, the only thing I dislike about CloudFlare is often times I find the console a bit difficult to work with when dealing with complex configurations and scouring through log files.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Great tool that offers lots of protection for your web presence.

"Terrible Customer Service"

What do you like best?

Automatic image compression, Automatic Web Application Firewall, and easy to implement Content Delivery Network. The overall product offering is great but very expensive beyond the first level.

What do you dislike?

Customer Service is Awful! Even for the Paid version! We became locked out of our account, because of a mistake that we made. When we asked for support, it was impossible to get the problem resolved. The support staff didn't read the notes on the ticket, didn't understand what was going on, gave solutions that didn't work at all, were just completely incompetent. They took 3-4 days between some responses and overall were uninformed.

Recommendations to others considering the product

"CloudFlare - The best solution for website security"

What do you like best?

It's a very easy setup for the first time and very very secure. Anybody could set it up with even minimal tech knowledge. Also basic features are free for users, that too for lifetime. That is the best thing I like about this product.

What do you dislike?

Many things on the site is paid right now.... if it is changed.. it would be really good

Recommendations to others considering the product

Go for using CLoudFlare for protecting your website

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It requires one time setup of changing your domain's name server and then you can easily redirect all of your traffic. So, all the protection like DDoS happening to your website and some XSS attacks and stuff.. that can be avoided with a single click of a button.

"Best CDN out there"

What do you like best?

the prices are awesome, basically, they have a forever free SSL for WordPress with no bandwidth limit. for small businesses at the starting, it's a great help to protect their websites from malicious attacks. the protection feature comes with multiple servers spread all around the globe as well as tins of features which is great. they also give premium features like REST API for free. the support is also really helpful.

What do you dislike?

the commercial plan is no near affordable for small businesses, it's important to improve website quality as the business grows but the switch from free to the commercial plan of the Cloudflare DDoS plan is nowhere near affordable in one step.

Recommendations to others considering the product

its a great stop to get yourself going and for a better web experience. if you can afford, go for the commercial plan.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

mainly Cloudflare helps us optimize our websites for speed and security, it's essential for every business to have a website with high security as it shows the quality and improves the trust within the customers.

"Go to choice for CDN"

What do you like best?

Easy to setup on existing websites/webapps and provides many performance and security features. Easier to setup on multiple sites/apps than any other available options.

What do you dislike?

The UI could do better at making suggestions to users about what features might be most relevant to their particular product, taking Cloudflare one step further in ease of use.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Look at CloudFlare as more than just a CDN. The added performance, security and SSL features are very powerful and easy to use. At the time CloudFlare makes SSL setup easier and significantly cheaper than buying certificates somewhere else.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

CDN, SLL, DDS protection, offline pages. No other system offers the same power, features and flexibility that Cloudflare does for us.

"Cloudflare, The total security solution "

What do you like best?

CloudFlare is a company that tries to give the best service to their customers without paying the attention for profit maximization. The reason for that is Cloudflare almost giving their complete solution for free subscribers. Even their pro plans are very cost effective. The most favorite feature of CloudFlare is "Always Online", this helps to reduce all downtimes of the website without spending money. The installation process of CloudFlare is so easy and very fast without any downtimes. Can easily block any IP address and also CloudFlare automatically detects and block bad IPs that can be a threat to the server. Their Content Delivery Network is also very helpful. Using Cloudflare with Wordpress site with their Wordpress plugin makes the sites make the integration more strong. They also offer a great analytic dashboard to analyze most of the data that we need to care. CloudFlare apps are very helpful. especially, their Google Analytics app.

What do you dislike?

I am bit confused to use some features of CloudFlare. Better if they can offer good video tutorials to explain each and every feature. "Rocket Loader" Feature totally messed up some sites. Therefore I don't use that feature.

Recommendations to others considering the product

CloudFlare is a free and easy solution. But it is also a total solution. Using Cloudflare makes the mind more peaceful because they take care the security of the website.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Of course, CloudFlare Does. Their DNS management makes the life easier. When we are dealing with clients, we can simply use Cloudflare DNS and manage client's domains efficiently.

"Great product, too expensive to upgrade to "Business" level"

What do you like best?

I really like how easy it is to add new domains to CloudFlare, it's quick and painless and only takes a few minutes. Once you start, it's easy to set up the rest of CloudFlare's features including web application firewall, which is the primary reason I use this platform. It adds another layer of security onto our web apps and also provides a great way to stop abuse from even getting to our server.

What do you dislike?

I do not like that it costs $200/month to upgrade to business for a very small, but powerful, set of features. I think compared to other companies that do offer this it seems a bit high. I also would like for them to allow custom certs a the pro level which wold allow the use of the green bar SSL.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are using the free version of CloudFlare and have SSL, please note that on a very few OLDER browsers your website will not even load because it blocks by default certain outdated TLS and SSL connections that older browsers only use... this doesn't seem like a problem for some, but on some sites, with older users, it could be... upgrading to PRO solves this, however.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Increased security to our website, and increased speed / delivery of cached items.

"Great DNS provier with many extra perks"

What do you like best?

Absolutely love the free tier. They offer just about everything that you could possibly want and then some! With the addition of free SSL and CloudFlare signed origin certs, it is easier than ever to keep the web secure, even for those on a budget.

What do you dislike?

The reporting options definitely leave something to be desired. Additionally, price is always a factor. While the first paid tier is good, a few features (like railgun) are reserved for business and enterprise only. Finally, when looking into CloudFlare as a serious CDN with an enterprise account, their quote was significantly higher than expected, especially after all of their touting of their CDN abilities.

Recommendations to others considering the product

CloudFlare is great for protecting websites.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were especially looking at the DNS, while CDN would have been a definite bonus. I currently use CloudFlare for a variety of small sights, but have not yet upgraded any significant installations.

"Cloudflare is an awesome answer for securing your site and keeping your site quick"

What do you like best?

With CloudFlare, you can do the greater part of this and the sky is the limit from there. When running sites, it is basic to have them be quick and diminish hazard to vulnerabilities in the product. I have numerous sites with various basic tech and it is pleasant to have a layer of insurance like CloudFlare.

What do you dislike?

Cloudflare is by and large stunning considering its charge of totally zero. However there are a few things that could be enhanced, for example, making the UI more easy to use. At present, it is modestly elusive where things are and I would profit by having the capacity to modify a page for highlights that I require.

Recommendations to others considering the product

The main thing you ought to know about is your reserve servers. You have to put a little time on characterizing URLs that you don't need CloudFlare store (in the event that you have any).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

There are numerous bots on the web which are attempting to break your website. WordPress needs a considerable measure of pull to deal with even a littler savage constrain assault. As a result of the solid channels from CloudFlare, a WordPress site doesn't have this issue any longer. You can utilize exceptional guidelines to squares bots after X login endeavors. CloudFlare can hinder these terrible bots before they achieve your site!

"Free or paid, the best DNS, CDN and Security provider"

What do you like best?

Easy to use, protects site from spam and hackers, many option to speed up websites as well. It is a DNS Provider, Content Delivery Network (CDN), Security System with a Web Application Firewall, with free SSL services. With the free option alone you can speed up your website and protect it. When you add a new site, it will automatically pull in 99% of your active DNS settings. You should always compare the old with the new to make sure you have everything.

What do you dislike?

Not much to dislike here. Recently removed their secondary domain pricing which is a bummer, $20 is now the cheapest paid solution. The interface can be a bit overwhelming at first. I use CloudFlare a lot so I have become accustomed to it.

Recommendations to others considering the product

This is a no-brainer. As an all-around service, nobody does it better.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I consult with businesses and CloudFlare is one of my top suggestions. I can protect multiple websites, speed them up, provide reports to customers on bandwidth savings, stop hacker attempts, and more. I don't use any other DNS/CDN service!

"Great CDN with a usable free service tier for small businesses."

What do you like best?

Protects my website effectively, and has even taken care of SSL issues I have had with my services just by switching. It really has boosted my websites performance and once it is set up, there isn't much else needed. They also provide a very nice WordPress plugin to make things work even easier.

What do you dislike?

While the nature of using a CDN (DNS etc) service is inherently complicated, the user interface for management and setup needs a lot of work. Because of the way it is laid out, it is very easy to get lost.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Because of the free tier, there is very little reason not to give this service a try. It is so actively supported you would be hard pressed to find another service like it. It's really the only game in town.

"Defending our Cloud based applications"

What do you like best?

Cloudflare is totally inexpensive for the services it provides and protects our applications in the cloud very easily.

What do you dislike?

I wish we could set this up using only one SSL certificate so we didn't have sites shutdown when one and not the other expires.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I have seen this application, a web firewall in front of whatever your cloud provider uses, more and more on secure websites I visit. Its another layer out in front of your application to protect your services and its inexpensive as well.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"There are no reasons why not to use it."

What do you like best?

Cloudflare service is extremely easy to setup and it provides limitless control over your network. They really care about security and that's why they are offering their best services in their free plan, like having HTTPS on your websites.

Getting hooked up with CloudFlare is easy, fast and enables you to have control over your traffic, cache and security.

What do you dislike?

To be honest, there is nothing I dislike about CloudFlare. I just wish they provide more information about the reason behind all the requests that counted as malicious.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Just do it. You gain much more and lose nothing.

The only thing you should be aware of is your cache servers. You need to put a little time on defining URLs that you don't want CloudFlare cache (if you have any).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are using it as our DNS, CDN and we are enabling HTTPS on our website. Managing DNS could not be easier with CloudFlare. It is fast and dead simple.

You can have CDN just with one click and you'll get it for free. Same thing goes with HTTPS, you can enable HTTPS on your website with just one click.

"The best you can do for all your WordPress websites!"

What do you like best?

CloudFlare helps a lot to keep spambots of your site. Their filters are great and even the free version is good enough to protect your site against known bots. The UI is very fast and you don't need to be an engineer to handle all the settings. Every option has some clear help information.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes it takes a bit longer to add a site to Cloudflare, but that is not an issue. It would be great there was an option for DNS templates.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you run a CMS based website use the page rules to protect your login page and important other sections. If you consider to use the free SSL feature, use always full or strict option, it's much better that the flex SSL option.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

There are many bots on the internet which are trying to break your site. WordPress needs a lot of horsepower to handle even a smaller brute force attack. Because of the strong filters from CloudFlare, a WordPress website doesn't have this problem anymore. You can use special rules to blocks bots after X login attempts. "Cloudflare is a great solution for protecting your website and keeping your site fast"

What do you like best?

This DNS provider has many great features for the most part are for free. It get your DNS settings from your older provider for you, saving you time to set it up. Once imported you can easily set your site up with free SSL using the latest version of encryption. No need to set it up using certificates on your server and setting it up to renew. You can also implement site caching for static files. Just in case your site goes down your consumers will never know since your site is cached by Cloudflare. They also protect against DDOS attacks and others that may harm your website. They also accelerate your website with HTTP/2 and SPDY. Mind you all this is for free! It also scales well if you need more features they have paid plans also.

What do you dislike?

I love the service but the website UI is a little clunky. It has many features and they are in sometimes hard to find because of the many places you have to look for them. A cleaner UI would go a long way in making this site better. But can not really complain too much since so much is given for free.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Its free and there is no reason not to at least try this service out. You will not regret it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

For me it allows my business and personal sites to be protected from attacks, have a better google ranking and protection due to SSL. Faster website which always makes me smile. Saving my clients and me money in the long run. Also does some little things I found are very useful it can also minify your html, css and js. Which is a nice feature when you do not have the time or a task runner set up. No matter what hosting service my client is using I can easily set them up with Cloudflare's benefits.

"A Very Good DNS Provider and Good Protection Service"

What do you like best?

In keeping with the philosophy of their original service, Project Honeypot, the people behind CloudFlare offer one of the most comprehensive free protection and DNS services on the Internet. Designed for massive scale, they have one of the fastest and most reliable DNS services out there, usable with or without their included spammer protection services. As an extra bonus, they also cache static content, serving as a mini-CDN, which will speed up loading of the website and further reduce load on the server, allowing you to handle more traffic with your existing servers.

What do you dislike?

Because of its rapid growth, the control panel in CloudFlare can be a bit confusing. They have worked to address this, but there is still some way to go. They can also sometimes be a bit pricy for certain services, but are reliable.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Take a look at other companies in this area, and compare features. If you're only interested in CDN, or DDoS protection, there are some companies that out-perform CloudFlare due to their focus on the one area. If you want a sold all-around provider that can provide DNS, CDN-like service, and DDoS protection, they are one of the best, if not the only company out there providing all of this under one service.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Everything on the Internet depends on DNS to make the friendly names that people remember match with the IP addresses that servers use. It is very important to use a reliable and fast service so that you don't have unexpected outages. Additionally, attackers and spambots can slow down a website and reduce resources to legitimate customers/visitors. Using CloudFlare, I have found a more responsive experience with my site and no downtime due to DNS issues.

Note: I have only used their free plan as of the date of this review.

"Cloudflare is the easiest portal to CDN and WAF."

What do you like best?

There is nothing easier, that we have found, that we can use and have setup in minutes that provides CDN, Security, Web Application Firewall, and other features. When you dig deeper into the professional and business plans and other ways you can use the features of CloudFlare, you'll never want to use anything else.

What do you dislike?

The only issue I have ever had with CloudFlare is when their portal goes down or acts up from time to time. It is rare but does happen.

Recommendations to others considering the product

CloudFlare does is not an anti-virus, anti-malware type of SaaS. It is a DNS service that masks your server (origin) and also serves many of your files off of their CDN servers. It can also block IP addresses and ranges of IP addresses (Pro and up) which is handy when you know of malicious servers and activity.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With the amount of attacks increasing daily on CMS platforms we wanted a tool that can help stave off attacks while supplying a speed increase. CloudFlare makes it easy to setup and change security levels. If you have another security tool in place to let you know you're under attack you can also tell CloudFlare to increase the security. One of the easiest implementations of CloudFlare Pro is to use iThemes Security and the Sunny plugin. When iThemes blacklists an IP it sends the information to CloudFlare where the IP is also blacklsited. If you monitor multiple sites the IP list can apply to all of your managed sites.

"Awesome CDN"

What do you like best?

What I like about CloudFlare is the ease of use. The interface is so easy to navigate and this helps you get things done. The power that CloudFlare gives you is just amazing, the speed and performance of this CDN service is amazing. The absolute best part of this is that it's free.

What do you dislike?

I can't say much about what I dislike. There are very few things that I actually dislike. I had some issues sometimes where the DNS wouldn't resolve correctly and this would cause CloudFlare to show an error page even when the server was up and running. However, this is something extremely rare. I'd still recommend CloudFlare.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I'd personally recommend you to have some sort of basic DNS understanding. The rest is made easy by CloudFlare, there's not much you need to do besides changing the nameservers on your domain and wait for CloudFlare to configure your domains. If you know the basics, you won't even need to contact support as most things are easy to figure out (unless some kind of disaster happens).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have a small Hosting company and I have all my domains and user's domains in CloudFlare. This helps my customers have faster websites and a very easy to use interface to configure their DNS settings. I have a cPanel server that integrates with CloudFlare and lets my clients easily enable and disable the service on their domains. This not only makes their sites a lot faster, but also helps them save bandwidth which is a limited resource.

"I use CloudFlare both professionally and for personal projects"

What do you like best?

CloudFlare provides a lot of cool features, and at the same time it's incredibly easy to set up and configure. It's a genuinely flawless experience, I haven't noticed a bug in years.

And for personal (or otherwise cash-strapped) projects, the free tier is awesome — it covers practically everything a small to medium-sized website might ask for, and it costs $0.00! Can't beat that price point, I guess.

What do you dislike?

That's by no means CloudFlare's fault, but their IPs sometimes get blocked by Russian, Chinese and probably other officials. So in case you're interested in totalitarian demographic, CF might not be a fitting solution.

Again, this is not a technical issue, more of a political one — CloudFlare are doing everything right, in my honest opinion.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Go for it, this is probably the right call.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We're serving both static and dynamic content to a lot of customers, globally. CloudFlare improves the loading times across the board, which is great.

"I've been using CloudFlare for a couple of years now."

What do you like best?

CloudFlare makes my websites fast. It really reduces the load time of the pages. I use shared hosting because I can't afford VPS or dedicated services for now and CloudFlare boots my sites plus it protects them from attacks. And what's more is that I don't pay a dime for that. It's really a life saver for people like me trying to run a website without much budget. And It allows me to change DNS settings on the fly. Really great service

What do you dislike?

I don't really have nothing to say. It has almost any features I need. Except that It doesn't support some sort of binary caching. Types includes MP3 and similar.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It's a must for people looking to improve the performance of their websites and applications. Especially if they are on a shared hosting service. You get a lot of improvements for free. It's really worth it try it out.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It's fast. It caches the static assets of my websites. It's easy to set up too. It allows to change DNS settings on the fly. Really great service.

"High speed cache including free and grade A+ SSL"

What do you like best?

The free basic features including blazing fast HTTP(s) cache, grade A+ (rated by https://www.ssllabs.com/) TLS configuration, threat prevention as well as the DNS management.

What do you dislike?

I am writing this review based on the free plan and can not really think of anything I could complain about. Yes, there are only 3 page rules (which allows per-domain configurations), but if you just use it for personal websites you probably don't need more than that anyways.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure to decrease the TTL of your domain (which you're going to move to CloudFlare) to 600 but at least one interval of the currently set TTL value.

E.g. if the TTL is set to 86400 seconds, make sure to wait at least exactly that time (86400 => 24 hours) before you update your DNS entries.

If you make sure of this, you won't run into any outages during the migration of the DNS to CloudFlare.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

My website is incredible fast from almost anywhere out of the world.

"Using CloudFlare DNS service for a small website"

What do you like best?

I love the DNS service of CloudFlare. It is easy for configuration and pretty fast updating comparing to other free DNS service like Namecheap.

What do you dislike?

CloudFlare likely to send email to me when I use it is a back up DNS servers. When I add other DNS services to my domain, CloudFlare will send me the email to warn me to check DNS settings otherwise they will disable my service. Actually, if I only use a DNS part of CloudFlare, there is no problem anyway.

I also don't like when I access PHP page on my website and it does not route to my website, so I pause some of my websites because of this.

Recommendations to others considering the product

CloudFlare is a mainly a CDN service but you can use it as a DNS service as well. If you want to use as a back up DNS server, you will not be able to use CDN service and this is the weak point. However, I believe that you can use only CloudFlare alone since they are prepared to facing with attack. They also have DDoS protection as well and it is good for your websites when you are under attacks. To conclude, I am using CloudFlare DNS service as my main DNS server an I love it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I just leave the warning since it is not necessary for me.

"Essential for small static websites"

What do you like best?

It's free SSL capabilities are amazing for small websites - it is really improving the face of web security, and small people no longer have to pay exorbitant certificate fees.

Its DNS management is also fantastic, and its setup procedure is well thought-out and easy to use.

What do you dislike?

I wish the Cloudflare API was a little more open and easy to interface with, and it would be *great* if we could supply a page that is shown when my website is offline instead of their standard one.

Also since their website redesign I find it occasionally hard to navigate around the site and switch between websites.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I can't think of anything that comes close to what CloudFlare offers on a free plan. It really is extraordinary.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It allows my websites, which support my freelance business, to stay up even when they are hit by large amounts of traffic, meaning that I don't miss out on viewers and potential clients.

"Cloudflare gets the job done..."

What do you like best?

CloudFlare global network of data centers is the best I've used so far. It is probably the best secure CDN service we have in the Asian(especially south eastern) region.

Incidentally, cloudflare dedicated website that provides up-to-date notifications on the performance of each data center particularly useful for monitoring purposes.

CloudFlare also has a lot of features to help optimize your website in other ways, such as gzipping, JavaScript bundling(my personal fav.)

What do you dislike?

Not enough information on data that is cached, which leads to misbelief of whether the things are really getting cached or not.

For those who demand both security and speed at the same level, there still is a wide gap between them for which I believe Cloudflare will sort out within few updates.

There are issues when you set up Cloudflares Rocket Loader where some javascript plugins won't load correctly but, cloudflare's got it fixed using some snippet code.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The best thing about Cloudflare is once your DNS is pointed its way, it’ll automatically start caching pages on your website and there’s no need to configure anything on your site.

At the same time, it has this analytics page which gives you a complete report on your website traffic where you can view a report for all websites on free plans/paid plans.

"Simple, powerful security, acceleration, and analytics"

What do you like best?

CloudFlare provides a large array of features that address both website security and load time. Easily adjustable security levels guard against DDOS attacks, but allow innocent visitors who employ proxies to continue to use the site. The optional SSL feature serves site assets over a secure protocol.

The actual CloudFlare CDN servers operate around the world, providing swift page loads. For almost any company, this is much more efficient than renting servers in distributed data centers. CloudFlare also contains multiple features to improve page load by reducing data transfer. For instance, it can minify code, compress images, and strip useless meta data from files. CloudFlare provides a simple interface to manage these features and propagates changes swiftly.

In addition to its swift content delivery and security measures, CloudFlare provides basic analytics. These assist users as they ascertain their website's performance and user demographics.

CloudFlare also offers a collection of apps to expand the features available to users. These apps provide a variety of services ranging from cosmetic improvements to smart error pages and security seals.

What do you dislike?

The CloudFlare visitor analytics feature does not possess much breadth. While it provides some general data, such as top visitor locations, it does not reveal most visited pages, popular browsers, search keywords, common errors, and other necessary information. Consequently, users who depend upon granular visitor data must rely upon an additional service.

Recommendations to others considering the product

This service offers relatively quick setup, easy management, and extensive features for its price. I recommend CloudFlare for small companies who desire CDN functionality at an affordable cost.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I employ CloudFlare to accelerate my site's performance and protect it from attack. My company is extremely small and I could not achieve either of these objectives on my own. After integrating CloudFlare, I have not suffered any significant attacks. In addition, I benefit from significant bandwidth savings and page load improvements.

"A great service for added website security and performance, with a low cost to entry!"

What do you like best?

My primary reason for switching to CloudFlare was the extra security they offered for my websites. Not only do they offer an incredible amount of security and threat protection, but they make it very easy to setup and configure, which is especially great for people who aren't "experts" in website and server security. Making security easy, and available to the masses (via the free plan), makes CloudFlare a real winner in my mind.

In addition to the security, the actual CDN aspect of CloudFlare works great. One of my websites is a photo gallery, and I noticed an improvement in speeds on the website (both real-world and benchmark speeds), and in the one brief instance I needed the "Always Online" feature, it worked pretty well.

CloudFlare also offers easy to interpret, detailed reports on security and CDN performance, which helps me realize that it is actually doing something (as security protection and CDN performance are largely invisible aspect to a website that "just work" most of the time).

I now use CloudFlare for all business and personal websites I run.

What do you dislike?

For my personal use, I wish there'd be a more affordable non-business pay plan. I largely stick with the free offering for my personal sites, but I'd love to have some upgraded features but can't justify the monthly price for what are largely hobby and portfolio websites that don't generate any income. That being said, the free plan is quite suitable too.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Addition piece of mind "set it and forget it" security is my primary purpose for using CloudFlare. The CDN aspect also gives a nice performance bump to certain parts of my websites too, especially for users visiting in geographical locations that are very distant from the server location.

"This service helps you to put a little bit more reliability on uptime of your project"

What do you like best?

Really easy to set up, they provide with analytics even on free plan and give a big range of setting so that you can set everything is a way you need.

What do you dislike?

Till this moment I didn't find any disadvantages of using their services. You can always test them using their free plan.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Try free plan first, see how it works with you, analyse how much traffic did you manage to save by caching, consider how much of server cost would it be for you and then decide whether you need to continue using them or not, you will not lose any money and will be able to analyse how much server resources you can save. They also provide this information for you.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have a high-load platform which is load balancing on several servers, even though sometimes we get peak loads, so we use different ways of caching. Cloudflare gives a great opportunity to get cached version of your platform even without "touching" your servers.

"The fastest and only CDN you'll ever need!"

What do you like best?

In today's quick-paced technological world, everything is all about speed. Users in today's world have an attention span of about 3 seconds before they go on with their lives. This is crucial to any organization looking to optimize their website or lower the bounce rates on traffic to their application. In comes CloudFlare CDN. If you are still hosting all your assets -- images, stylesheets, and scripts -- in the same place you're hosting your website, chances are that loading these assets synchronously with the pages on your website is affecting performance (or preventing it from becoming more performant). CloudFlare is easy to use, they provide tons of bandwidth (but, of course, the amount of bandwidth you get also depends on which plan you elect). They offer free, pro, and enterprise domains, so depending on your needs, the options are there. And, on top of that, CloudFlare also offers DDoS protection and other advanced functions for business and enterprise accounts. This is especially important if you are worried about security or attacks on your website. Since a website is the forefront of the company's reputation and offerings, there is no reason why you should not sacrifice those extra few dollars into CloudFlare.

What do you dislike?

There are very few things i dislike about CloudFlare from all the years that I've used it. One is that CloudFlare does not offer setting wildcard subdomains - as it is not possible yet. Also, there may be a little bit of discrepancies on where the datacenters you've selected actually are.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The problem of website efficiency and performance. A lot of today's websites are very heavily loaded with content and fancy styles. CloudFlare is what you need to offset those assets and have your server focus on running the application instead of waiting for things to load.

"Fantastic Introductory Cache/CDN/WAF/DNS"

What do you like best?

Cloudflare offers a lot of useful functionality before you even need to dip into their paid offerings. This is genius; it makes it very easy for you to dip your toe in the water and test the realtime DNS tools, high-level WAF capabilities and website performance optimizations/caching. These take all of 5 minutes to get up and running and you can even enable multi-factor authentication via Twilio's Authy service to increase security of your account. Again... all in about 5 minutes; they're not exaggerating.

What do you dislike?

Out of the box, everything works pretty well, but is somewhat basic when compared to more powerful offerings, such as F5 Networks solutions. For small to medium businesses though, the solution is more than adequate and a nice stepping point on a maturity model.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If all you do is use it to act as DNS and a website performance optimizer (cache, JS/CSS consoliation), its worth the time to setup. Start with the free tiers and then grow into the paid tiers as needed. When your application starts to grow in popularity definitely take the time to upgrade to a pro plan and ensure your Web Application Firewall is implemented along with your own SSL certs (if you haven't done that from the get-go).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

For many of my privately built static and native web apps (JS apps served statically), this is a one stop solution to ensure content is delivered very quickly from cached version as well as ensure that common threats are blocked before even reaching my servers. All without having to worry about the configuration of larger more heavyweight solutions that, frankly, smaller sites often don't need. Along those lines, I no longer need to rely on managing my own DNS servers for these solutions as I simply point my domains to CloudFlare's. This has enabled me to make changes to underlying servers/hosting environements in real time and continue to serve static content during infrequent outtages of app hosting environments.

"Best DNS service you will find for free"

What do you like best?

I've used CloudFlare since my Registrar stopped working properly when setting up new Domain's DNSs and haven't looked back!

It comes with a layer of DDoS and Bots protection so you can keep those who try to mess up with your infrastructure away from it with ease!

Also, a big plus. "Auto Minify", decrease filze size of some of your files so your sites load even faster!

What do you dislike?

New users into the Hosting / Domains / DNS world can get confused on how to setup their first domain.

There are some features I'd like to have for free, but that's asking for too much, like IP Country Blocking to name something.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you need to setup a domain and even count with free Abuse (DDoS and Bots) protection, you should give CloudFlare a try. They will deliver what they mean to.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Relatively simple set up once you find the right tutorial and great performance when up and running"

What do you like best?

I really like how quickly it was to set up and get running once I had figured out how to do it. I used it on a SquareSpace site that loaded some very large images. I wasn't happy with the performance of the site until I started using it with CloudFlare. Images loaded a lot quicker, especially once the cache had warmed up. I also though the dashboard was really simple to navigate and understand.

What do you dislike?

I haven't encountered anything thus far that I dislike. If I had to say something, it would be that it wasn't 100% clear that the CDN was working but after some playing around with the dashboard and running some tests on my sites webpages, I could see the difference.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are using CloudFlare with SquareSpace, make sure to read the documentation on that specific part of it carefully, otherwise you might take your website offline. Otherwise, I think this is a solid solution if you looking to improve the speed at which content loads on your website.

"CloudFlare"

What do you like best?

I decided to try cloudflare because it comes with a big variety of tools for website security and performance. Regarding the website security tools I highlight the protection against SQL injection and cross-site scripting. The content caching and global CDN were quite useful tools on the website performance.

But one of the best things of cloudflare was the possibility of doing all these on the cloud without the need to install any extra software or hardware are all over web application.

CloudFlare's performance features help to improve your site's speed. Keeping your website running quickly reduces the chance that we or our customer will get fed up with slow page loads and leave the site before purchasing anything. One of the included website performance features relies on the global content delivery network (CDN). This increases the bandwidth without you needing to add any extra hardware. Since it is global it doesn't matter where your clients are located – they will still receive prompt page loading times.

Another reason why I found this website performance service so useful was the fact that it has automatic static content caching. This can help your site load faster for return customers. They also offer a website preloader which pre-caches our most popular pages and makes load times much faster for our visitors. Along with these two features is another feature that looks at which resources are most used and have them on hand. This reduces the loading time of these pages.

Regarding the costumer service I think it is ok, sometimes the feedback time is quite long, so it is one of the services that could be improved in the future.

What do you dislike?

They have fixed major issues have in the past

The thorough help materials, in a useable wiki format, make it easy to get the most out of CloudFlare's rich security and performance features.

"Wonder idea that every site, free or not, needs to use!"

What do you like best?

You do not realize how important using cloudflare is for new sites!

They have the best DNS management system in the world! With POPs everywhere, updates are done near instant.

They have a spectacular firewall system to block nearly every attack in the book thanks to the huge community they have.

They added SSL support, which means as a free user, you can get free SSL (HTTPS) added to your domain. An extremely useful feature compared to all the other alternative solutions.

Their cache purge is near instant.

What do you dislike?

I really really want to use the business features without paying for them; such as Polish Image Optimization. I understand they have to make money to keep the servers online. So maybe one day I can afford it.

I almost never see the "Always On" feature kick in when my server is down. I am a free user so it's not going to be cached at the same level as a business user, but still would like to see this improved in the future.

I'd like more page rules as well as a free user. Three is hardly enough for setting cache rules on blog and ecommerce sites like I have.

I wish they had a personal plan that would be cheaper than the business plans. Us bloggers don't need a full blown $20/month cost for a site. Just make sure that Polish is included since Bloggers would appreciate that feature!

Recommendations to others considering the product

I know you can look into Rackspace DNS, and Amazon's DNS. But I find that Cloudflare surpases them by a landslide.

"Few Frills, but Free"

What do you like best?

Easy to get started and configure. Immediate results can be seen just from getting the boost from geographically diverse CDN endpoints. If you pay for the Business plan, you get extremely solid DDOS protection and good firewalling.

What do you dislike?

Development can be a pain because of aggressive caching. You'll likely want to configure your build tooling to build modules that contain a timestamp or other hashbuster, because CloudFlare's "Development Mode" only stays active for a few hours.

Some of their special features like Mirage and Rocket Loader caused issues with some users of my site, so I turned them off.

Without the $200/month plan, logging is pretty limited.

Although they advertise DDOS protection, I was using their Pro plan and was hit with a DDOS-- they turned CloudFlare off for my site, exposing my site's public IP. There was no opportunity to upgrade or otherwise keep CloudFlare on before my real IP was exposed to the attacker (who promptly switched to DDOSing the real IP, making CloudFlare useless). I had to pay to upgrade to the $200/month Business plan and have my server provider change my public IP, which resulted in a day or so of downtime.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are an active DDOS target, you need the $200/month plan, period. No other plans provide DDOS protection of any reasonable sort and CloudFlare will kick you off without warning.

If you simply want to do some caching and perf improvements, it's practically drop-in.

Certain actions are not friction-free, like adding new DNS records (you probably have to add them once at your service provider and again at CloudFlare) but these are low-cost.

What do you like best?

The option to use the service completely free. The features avaiable in the Free version are also very good...

Also, the easy way to manage all the domains and configurations, along side with the easy way to upgrade the account if needed.

Finnaly, the knowledge base is also very extended, helping in the more usual questions that a normal users will face.

What do you dislike?

The support service is a little slow to answer.

Sometimes takes a day or two to get a simple answer. The knowledge base is very extensive and should answer many questions, but not always.

"Excellent free DNS/CDN provider."

What do you like best?

Very simple user interface to configure domains, DNS records and additional CloudFlare features.

Majority of functionality is available free of charge.

Free SSL certification for CloudFlare enabled subdomains.

'Always Online' technology means if my sites go down, they're still mainly accessible.

Server protection from hackers and spammers.

Free CDN speeds up website loading times.

Additional features like minification of HTML/CSS/Javascript, one-click SaaS apps for domain.

What do you dislike?

Some of the features can be sometimes buggy, for example, the minification of HTML/CSS/Javascript has sometimes broken my Angular based websites. This has been mainly resolved since however.

Enabling Cloudflare on some subdomains means anything other than Port 80/443 is unable to be accessed, can be a pain.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you're looking for a free DNS provider with tons of extra useful features, CloudFlare may be the solution for you.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Helps prevent my websites/servers from spam and being attacked.

CDN means improved page loading times for my visitors.

"CloudFlare Saved Our Bacon -- Big Time."

What do you like best?

Cloudflare was very easy to setup and configure -- which was very important as we were on a tight deadline. We built our new web site on WordPress running on Rackspace. Within a matter of days of going live we were under attack almost constantly with XML RPC DDOS attacks. We could have kept a telnet session open on the Rackspace Server (running Linux) and block each attack at the firewall. However, they were many and we were few, we needed a better solution. Rackspace support mentioned CloudFlare. We took the Wordpress site offline, and signed up for the Business Website plan ($200/month) at CloudFlare. We logged onto Hover and pointed our DNS records to the CloudFlare servers, brought up our Wordpress site and have not had a problem since. It is fast, reasonably priced and easy to set up. They have the tools available for you if you want to get down into the details and build a custom configuration (we've done a little of that). It works so well that we often forget that we own it.

What do you dislike?

When we first starting using CloudFlare, the Web Application Firewalls configuration panels were burired a little deep within the interface. Recent updates (it's a SAAS based interface -- so the updates just "happen") have addressed most of these issues. In fact, they have really flattened the interface so that you can get to most things in a matter of a few clicks.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are building a relatively low-volume web site, and you can live with the default templates -- then consider Wordpress.com or Squarespace. If you are building out a customer web site (or web application for that matter) at a 3rd party company -- like Rackspace -- where you configure and manage your own servers -- then CloudFlare is a great fit.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are solving our firewall and security problems for our public Wordpress-based web site. We could simply use an all-in-one platform, like Squarespace (and we own companies that use this approach). However, we had the need to have a very custom Wordpress template -- so that put us in the business of hosting and managing our own servers. We use Rackspace extensively in our portfolio, so we built a Linux/Wordpress/PHP/MySQL box to handle our site. Linux has firewall tools that you can use to manage security on your site -- but it requires more time and effort than we have available. CloudFlare provides a bevy of application-specific blocks and filters (including a killer set for Wordpress). We went from getting shut down by hourly attacks to being up and running without interruption for 9+ months. You can really almost "set it and forget it"

With the recent introduction of SSL certificates for free for all website linked to cloudflare, it has definitely increased the trustworthiness of my monitored website. Also, its blazing fast caching services has allowed my website to load much faster with lower ping. Furthermore, their analytics of websites seem to be more accurate than Google Analytics, and provides me with detailed statistics on the visitors coming to the website. It also helps block out potential threats which is very important to my web server, as it is being hosted in a 512ram VPS.

Its DNS service is also amazingly fast.

What do you dislike?

Cloudflare is generally amazing considering its charge of absolutely zero. However there are several things that could be improved such as making the UI more user friendly. Currently, it is moderately hard to find where things are and I would benefit from being able to customise a page for features that I need.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Using it will not harm your website. It would make it load much faster. Using it for a free DNS service is also very worth due to its speed of propagation with the Google Public DNS.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

To serve webpages on the website much quicker is one of the factors I chose Cloudflare. Its ability to reduce my bandwidth usage in my VPS and serving and optimising webpages much faster for free has many benefits and allowed me to spend more time to add new features to a website without worrying the website loading speed.

"I've use Clouflare for over 2 years with no problems"

What do you like best?

How simple you can integrate cloudflare with wordpress sites, it's the best at least for me as a wordpress developer.

What do you dislike?

Unfortunely there is an issue with the ssl certification in an specific case where it generates an error when a third party service trays to access your website via https

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you just want to support https on your site for free use Cloudflare, unless you have some kind of payment process in that case you may have a problem with ipn

Free https on all the websites I develop with no install friction.

"Stop reading this review and go enable CloudFlare"

What do you like best?

The performance and security offered by even the free tier is amazing. I've personally seen page speeds drop by 60% on some sites. This simultaneously reduces the needed server resources, so suddenly your need for a 2gb RAM may drop to 1gb, and it scales amazingly well.

What do you dislike?

The only feature of CloudFlare I frequently experience issues with is the "Rocket Loader" which helps server scripts asynchronously. This is easily remedied by disabling the feature completely or by selectively choosing which scripts are loaded this way.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I enable at least the free tier of CloudFlare on every site I build. The pro tier is definitely worth it, especially if you're running ecommerce, because it offers advanced settings for the WAF (web application firewall).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I use CloudFlare for clients and personal projects. It offers a free speed boost, an added layer of security, and reduces server costs. The reduced page load time is great, but even better is the reduced need for server resources. For one particular client running a very large image-heavy site, I was able to start shutting down extra servers after just a couple days of using CloudFlare. This is on top of the gains realized by using load balancers, Varnish, memcached, and other systems.

"Fast, reliable, and the right choice"

What do you like best?

Easy set up and a front facing interface that is helpful and informative to my customers, not just full of cryptic error messages or technical data. The dashboard is intuitive and clear; commonly used tools are right at my fingertips. The approach of breaking services down to per-domain apps also makes it easy to see what sites are using what systems while turning what could be a mishmash of confusing options into clear, concise control.

What do you dislike?

Error screens, while better than many, could still benefit from clarification about who cloudflare is. Their Full SSL option makes me a little uncomfortable with having a man in the middle, but I understand the necessity for it given the nature of how cloudflare works -- there's not really another option, but it's good to be aware of what they'll do going in.

"Super easy website security and performance"

What do you like best?

Easy point-and-click settings for a lot of advanced performance options that usually take a very long time to set up on a server. Users don't have to change anything since it's all DNS-based, and performance is increased drastically by their global CDN. Railgun allows you to cache the uncacheable by only requesting the changes made to a page compared to the cached version, this greatly improves performance for dynamic sites.

What do you dislike?

Setting up a Railgun proxy to cache dynamic pages can be a pain, but it's worth it in the end.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I recommend using CloudFlare 100%! It helped drastically reduce server load and increase performance for users all around the globe!

"CloudFlare the all purpose CDN"

What do you like best?

Offers nice protection against ddos attacks, speeds up load time and keep cached version of pages for when they're down. It's also packed on most cpanels so you can start using it with just a few clicks. Totally recommended for entry level server mantainers who want a quick and easy solution for security and caching.

What do you dislike?

I would like to add my assets to urls i can access to just like maxCDN. Sometimes inteferes with other proxys or programs. Some would say that the price is not worth the features.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It is a nice thing to have for basic security and caching of website. There are other tools for more advanced functionality but cloudflare works just fine and cover a reasonable amount of ground.

"Very Good, Dramatic Increase in Performance and PageSpeed/YSlow Scores"

What do you like best?

Has dramatically increased site performance our Pagespeed and YSlow scores. We were previously capped at C's and B's despite all optimization efforts, with CloudFlare we now score A's.

Also – If there is a problem with a website users will still see something – they see a snapshot of the home page with a message saying that the live site is offline. This is better than nothing.

The system is also very easy to use and understand.

What do you dislike?

It would be nice if more pages were cached so more links would work when the site is offline. We had the impression most if not all pages would be cached.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It is very good at improving performance. All metrics show dramatic improvements in speed and optimization.

The site caching – for availability when the site is down – is not what we hoped for. We had hoped it would cache the full site, but as far as we can tell it does not. The home page, and maybe a few others.

The three zone concept takes a minute to understand but makes perfect sense and is very intuitive once you get it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Improved performance – all performance metrics have improved dramatically. And the caching feature means that if the site goes offline it does not appear as catastrophic – visitors still see something.

We recently tested running our SugarCRM on-premise installation through CloudFlare. We didn't really expect it to work but it did, and made a huge difference. You can see detailed performance stats here:

http://www.markandersononline.com/blog/optimize-sugarcrm-premise-cloudflare-cdn/

In short it cut page load times almost in half - a massive gain that was effectively free. It took maybe a couple of hours to set up and test, and we already had a CloudFlare subscription in place.

Our SugarCRM users are very happy.

"Great product a little pricey for a startup"

What do you like best?

The security features are extremely impressive. The DNS management is super easy. The developer API is extremely useful for integration with CI. The CDN features help reduce our need to serve those resources consistently and allow our servers to focus more on our data processing.

What do you dislike?

Wish there was a way to cherry pick the features I needed. Reduce prices, the costs are a bit high for low budget startups. Also allow multiple users to manage a domain on CloudFlare

Recommendations to others considering the product

"Great website monitoring"

What do you like best?

CloudFlare gives me lots of control over my website, their DDOS protection is one of the best solutions out there. It will keep your site uptime while still allowing regular users in without their knowledge that there was ever DDOS protection. "CloudFlare is an easy-to-setup and rich-featured toolset"

What do you like best?

Most advantage in CloudFlare is that it is easy-to-setup and contains a rich feature-set even for the free package. What I like most is that my website stays partly available even if the server have a malfunction or they are accidently offline. Besides that CloudFlare helps to setup caches and improvements to speed up my website and keeps attackers away. These optimizations are quite useful.

What do you dislike?

Actually there is not much that I dont like about CloudFlare. Their DNS settings could be a bit better regarding to CNAME redirection, and maybe one or two of their packages could be included in the free plan or the upgrade could be a bit cheaper. However, I almost set up every website with CloudFlare as long as it is mostly static. The benefit with non-static websites is okay but to my mind not really worth it. Also, some adjustments (e.g. RocketScript) may break your website javascript completely.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I recommend CloudFlare to anyone as a simple solution to security and speed performance. If someone is looking for a (almost) bulletproof vest for their servers should take a look into and try out their services. For most needs it does not even require a paid package!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I do run a small website for code snippets for a big community. Since this website is mostly static and the content is generated into a Github repository it is perfect for CloudFlare optimizations.

"Versatile CDN that Optimizes Performance while Tightening Security"

What do you like best?

Cloudflare is an excellent CDN. There are varying degrees of speed and optimization with highly caching. It's important to know that content delivery is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what Cloudflare can do. Even under the free tier, you get access to a variety of tools and services all designed to protect, optimize, and track information related to your infrastructure. For example, Cloudflare captures some basic analytics data, and although the data is not nearly as comprehensive as something like Google Analytics, it tracks security data which you can't easily gather elsewhere. This security data gives users a better idea of the number and type of threats that their infrastructure faces. Other noteworthy offerings are free SSL support and advanced DNS configuration options like CNAME flattening. The account dashboard is well-designed and makes managing the different options relatively straightforward. There's also a great deal of support via the knowledgebase for those needing help with DNS configuration.

What do you dislike?

There are some features and bugs that haven't been fully worked out yet.

(1) The "Rocket Loader" feature can cause more harm that good. If you don't know what you're doing, or if you're worried about breaking your site, it's better to err on the side of caution and avoid it.

(2) Cloudflare supports websockets, but there are issues with SSL support over socket connections. It sounds like there may be better support at the Enterprise pricing tier, but It's probably best to avoid their free SSL if you need seamless websocket support.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I've been using Cloudflare for over 3 years and highly recommend using them for your Content Delivery and as a first line of security protection. The basic CDN and free SSL cert are excellent for 99% of use cases. More advanced services (like Rocket Loader) will require additional configuration as well as some trial and error, so it's probably a good idea to get a handle on the basic offerings first.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have used Cloudflare to speed up content delivery and quickly secure sites over TLS. It makes managing and configuring DNS fast and straightforward.

"Amazing tool for abstracting DNS & caching"

What do you like best?

I own a small agency and I manage around 40-50 websites through Cloudflare. Imagine you'd have to deal with different control panels on all those websites to make a simple change to a DNS record. I use Cloudflare as a nameserver on all my client domains, so I know I can manage the DNS in a single control panel. Works beautifully.

What do you dislike?

The pricing starts a bit high, but they do offer a free tier, which has been sufficient for all my clients to date.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you manage multiple domains and you want to make your life easier, use cloudflare as a DNS abstraction tool.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I no longer have to deal with different control panels to do the same thing on a domain (which is manage DNS records). By using cloudflare as the nameserver of the domain, all the DNS records are in 1 place, saving my huge amounts of time & effort.

"A Good Low-Cost CDN for Startups"

What do you like best?

If you're looking to scale, CloudFlare is a great solution for their services. They offer security and distribution for all sizes of businesses. In my startup, we saved over 2000 USD per month by using their CDN. In a startup crowd, that is a big win for ~20 bucks a month. On top of that, it also resolved about 300 attacks on our site per month and greatly decreased the amount of servers we needed since it would serve a lot of content from cache.

What do you dislike?

I don't really like the gap between the startup cost (20 USD) and the business costs. We feel like we are somewhere in-between where we want to pay a little more but can't afford the big-company costs.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be sure to go through all the settings and tailor your settings to your site needs. For example, if you're using wordpress, make sure to set long expire headers / always online for your feeds. Use your page rules wisely, and use the regex-like patterns.

Get a paid account. They preference them over the free users.

"Fast, Simple, Reliable"

What do you like best?

Everything about cloudflare is great - it's so simple to set up and administer your account. What I like best though is the amazing support and documentation. Everything is extremely clear and helpful. They're also constantly improving the service, so any problems I faced when I first started using it have since been resolved.

What do you dislike?

You loose control over your infrastructure when you use any CDN, not just Cloudflare. However I feel Cloudflare, in its simplicity, is rather less transparent when it comes to showing users what it's doing for their websites behind the scenes.

Recommendations to others considering the product

They're one of the most well-known CDNs and certainly the easiest to set up - perfect for not-so-technical users who want to quickly ramp up the performance and security of their websites in just a few clicks.

"CDN and Web Application Firewall"

What do you like best?

It is incredibly easy to setup. They manage your DNS, and have an easy to use interface. The API is also a nice bonus add. The web application firewall works great on blocking attacks. We have saved so much bandwidth since switching our website to them. The CDN was invisible to us - it cached our images, javascript and css for us. They also have great third part add-ons.

What do you dislike?

Logging can be hard to search through, the reports and analytics are also sparse. The only way to upload multiple custom SSL certificates is with the enterprise version. Without the API its hard to clear the cache for certain images or files. Other then that it is a solid product.

"Plug n' Play solution for a TON of web dev problems"

What do you like best?

Once I experienced the pleasure of having a dedicated layer to dealing with external threats and bots, as well as optimizing asset delivery in a way that used to be a huge hassle during the build process, it's pretty tough to go back. CloudFlare is one such a service, and uses it's position between the client and your servers to deal with a ton of issues.

Their threat detection layer is great for WordPress installations, and other packaged systems that are popular targets for bots. Watching the analytics screen as threats are detected and blocked is very satisfying, and definitely helps with sleep at night.

Their optimization features are pretty fine-grained and powerful. It's nice to be able to serve an audio or image file directly from a server, only to have Cloudflare compress and distribute it to its edge servers, so that my server barely even gets hit, and my users all get the best experience possible. It's so much nicer for the application code to not have to consider delivery problems.

What do you dislike?

Getting CloudFlare to play nice with S3 Buckets is a little bit tricky; it requires some naming conventions and configuration options that are not trivial to change once you've set them up. Since I didn't anticipate this when I set up my S3 buckets (4 years ago), I decided it wasn't worth it to jump through all the hoops required to make the change, so I still use Amazon's CloudFront for that problem.

Unfortunate, since CloudFront simply doesn't provide some of the cool compression features that CloudFlare does. I'm left handling that at the application level for my S3 assets.

Some of their page rules are close to - but not exactly - what I want. I wish some of them were more customizable, without upgrading to their much more expensive enterprise plan.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure you have a staging environment to test out on, and give yourself plenty of time to catch all the weirdness that can occur when making a major DNS change. Especially pay attention to your email and MX records when turning on CloudFlare.

It helps if you can send email directly from your root domain (as opposed to mail.mydomain.com). Things got a little weird for us when we were serving from a subdomain.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Optimized delivery of images, CSS, JavaScript, and other assets. Cacheing, threat detection and deterrent, CDN.

"CDN with really great support"

What do you like best?

Cloud Flare is above all else, a community. It really does feel like that and it shines through in their support and resources that they have available. The best part is that their pricing structure is super simple, no weird tiers or anything like that to worry about.

What do you dislike?

I wish I had access to DDOS protection without having to pay the $200 a month. I'm on the basic plan and the jump in price to the next plan was a little high for me to swallow, but its a minor complaint since for an actual business, $200 is nothing.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Cloud Flare is great in its simplicity. What I really think is great about it is that its a learning tool as well as something that helps protect you. Having insight ont he kind of traffic that's coming to my site is invaluable. I think another great feature is how they handle pricing. It's VERY simple which I love. Sometimes I do feel like its a bit of a downfall though, I wish they had sort of an ala carte option. I wish I could for example pay for multi user access but not the phone support or the dedicated engineer without having to sign up for the enterprise plan, but that's the only option they have available if that makes sense. Ultimately though the solution that they offer is great and really can't be beaten by anything else I've seen on the market.

"2 Words... Reliable & Stress Free "

What do you like best?

The one important factor for my clients that I solely depend on is reliability. I for one, have yet to experience a negative performance coming from CloudFlare. One of my clients run a photography website which requires a lot of image downloading and such. A lot of these files end up being uploaded in big file sizes to retain the image quality at such high resolutions. CloudFlare does a good job performing CDN tasks and actually gives me a piece of mind knowing that important content are being handled in the right hands and people with slow access can still be a part of our website without any unfair compromises. That being said, I greatly appreciate the caching feature that it offers because there have been times where our host does go down at rare times but the website is still accessible.

What do you dislike?

There is only one thing that I find negative about Cloudflare is that you cannot use your own name servers. Other than that, I personally do not have any complaints about Cloudflare's service.

"Great product for automatic and free TLS, Bandwidth Reduction, and edge caching"

What do you like best?

Cloudflare provides one of the best edge caching networks currently available at price tiers for both individuals looking to reduce their monthly hosting costs and for companies looking to make their web applications faster. Additionally, Cloudflare provides free TLS certificates for use with your site.

What do you dislike?

Cloudflare is effectively a performing one of the largest MITM attacks in the history of the internet. My primary concern with Cloudflare is that if they so choose to, or were compelled to, they could retrieve huge amounts of sensitive data from their customers, including passwords and other form data. While I highly recommend using Cloudflare for static assets, the fact that Cloudflare can intercept sensitive information is worrying.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I highly recommend Cloudflare to companies and individuals looking to reduce their monthly bandwidth consumption and to get deep insight into how and where their assets are being delivered to. Coupled with other analytics, Cloudflare can give you a very good idea how your site is performing in multiple regions.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Bandwidth reduction, free TLS certificates, performance enhancements with edge caching static assets closer to our customers.

"Supercharging websites with CloudFlare"

What do you like best?

Cloudflare is a simple cdn solution for any website. It speeds things up and protects you agaisnt attackers, it's smart and very handy specially when using it from a cpanel (Because you litteraly only have to push a button)

What do you dislike?

There are very few things to dislike but minor server failure (in our case) but it does not keep us from not using it.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Give it a try it's definaly worth using.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

DDos protection is very hepful because as i said before you are protected with the click of a button. It's also nice for caching so it takes a huge load out of our servers.

"Cloudfare is amazing"

What do you like best?

The best part is its free (certain versions)! It's quick to set up and fairly easy to use. Provides good protection and makes it easy to monitor your site.

What do you dislike?

Although easy to use, it can confusing trying to navigate the interface. There are a lot of options that aren't necessarily organised as well as they could be.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you're trying out multiple companies for this type of service, there is no reason to not try this one as well. You can try it at no cost and see how simple it is to use!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It has given us peace of mind as we grow the business that we don't have to sweat as much over attacks and speed.

"Cloudflare is cheap and easy to set up!"

What do you like best?

The set up is quick and friendly, I definitely prefer Cloudflare's cleaner interface to other CDN dashboards which seem cluttered by comparison.

What do you dislike?

Figuring out the differences in service levels takes a little digging, the tiers could be more clearly explained during the sign-up flow as opposed to just being on the marketing page.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Definitely worth trying! The set up is so quick and streamlined you can have it working as fast as it takes your DNS servers to propogate!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I want to ensure my website stays up 100% of the time. I utilize caching and DDoS prevention. The free SSL is a real boon too!

"Best CDN around"

What do you like best?

It is very easy to use and you can have it running in a matter of minutes. Furthermore it is very reliable and does its job. It really speeds up your website by caching static data, also stop some attacks and provides an easy way to make your site available over a secure connection.

What do you dislike?

A few users of my websites reported that sometimes you have to complete a captcha to have the access granted. I guess that happens when the CloudFlare AI tags a regular user as a threat.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure you have some subdomains going around cloudflare, so you can have remote access to ftp and database. Also be sure you optimize your website. Cloudflare works caching static files, so the more html and js files you have, the better. It is perfect for webapps that rely on a REST api.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Increasing the availability and speed of my websites and websites of clients.

"Possibly the greatest thing I did for my site"

What do you like best?

I like the fact that it took me just minutes to set up, even though I was using a horrible web hosting service. Using CloudFlare taught me even more about my website and how to use it to its maximum potential and take advantage of everything that I could with it. I learned a lot just from using this service.

What do you dislike?

There was not really much to dislike to be completely honest. I liked every aspect of the service and thought their pricing was fair, their services were extremely useful, and they offered more than I could imagine.

Recommendations to others considering the product

You absolutely have to give this thing a shot. There are so many great extensions you can add onto the service and there is no cost for most cases. This is an essential to nearly any website in my honest opinion and everyone should implement this. It takes only a few simple and easy-to-follow steps.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am solving the problem of tracking users that visit the site, keeping the site up in case of a crash, and monitoring the site in ways I did not even imagine before. I had complete control over my website and I felt really comfortable and at ease knowing I had CloudFlare, and I did not even have to spend a cent on it. What an incredible service!

"CDN Made Easy with CloudFlare"

What do you like best?

It's the most easy to set up CDN if you administrate a cPanel, You are just one click away from DDos protection, content caching and worldwide delivery. You can't go wrong with cloudflare.

What do you dislike?

Some claim that DDos protection waiting time affects UX, and that may be true, but sometimes it's worth the sacrifice if you don't have your own way of protecting against attacks.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Definitely give it a try, if you are new to the cdn world, CloudFlare is the right site to start.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Site protection, content delivery, web caching and ease of use.

"Critical caching layer for all"

What do you like best?

When running websites, it is critical to have them be fast and reduce risk to vulnerabilities in the software. With CloudFlare, you can do all of this and more. I have many websites with different underlying tech and it is nice to have a layer of protection like CloudFlare.

What do you dislike?

Depending on the software you are using, the caching can be a bit aggressive which requires additional setup to ensure certain endpoints are excluded like admin endpoints. But, this is the nature of the beast too.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Handling spikes/high volume of traffic and securing sites that have a chance of 3rd party plugin vulnerabilities.

"I have been working with CloudFlare for 4 years, with about 15 wepages"

What do you like best?

Price, it's the best option for the money you pay.

Nice security features: ddos protection, application firewall and a reputation engine that check if you are a human when accessing from a bad karma network.

Caching works pretty well, and saves some traffic.

Free HTTPS support is a great deal.

What do you dislike?

It's not as fast as it used to be in the beginning.

Some more traffic information (traffic captures) will be a nice feature.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Try free version, and if you need any extra functions considere to upgrade to a payed version.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are a tiny ISP, but we have some big customers using a lot of bandwith and receiving attacks every day. Cloudflare is helping us to save a lot of bandwith and CPU with an extra protection to our webservices.

"Really easy to setup and free version makes it no questions asked"

What do you like best?

So with Google ranking https sites higher than http sites, CloudFlare is a no brainer. It's not "full on" ssl, but close enough and you get that pretty little green lock without having to buy an ssl certificate.

What do you dislike?

The big issue is adding a single point of failure for your website. if for some reason cloudflare goes down, there goes your website.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Don't forget to whitelist CloudFlare’s IP addresses and choose an SSL mode

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I needed to speed up my website and setup ssl, Cloudflare made it easy to do both.
