Best PHP IDE Out There!

What do you like best?

It has a simple to use interface. You can create project files and also has autocomplete built in (obviously if it's an IDE). There are multiple plugins in the professional version. The syntax it supports currently is PHP 7.x, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript. The price is about mid-level (compared to other PHP IDEs) but they do it have for cheaper sometimes on software deals site. I found with other IDEs your having to pay to upgrade to the next "major release" (which actually is not much different than the previous version) and with CodeLobster, you're only paying once.

What do you dislike?

The interface could use an upgrade. As an example, you can rename files but you can't copy, move, or delete them from within the IDE. To do this, you have to open Windows File Explorer, copy/move/delete it and then go back to CodeLobster and reload the project (causing a one-step process to turn into a three-step process). On top of that, if you reload a project after updating Composer packages, it sometimes crashes (maybe a way to manage Composer from within the IDE?). Their website is also a bit outdated. There are the plugins for it but they're all from CodeLobster and it'd be good if third-parties could create their own plugins for it.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you want a product that gets the job done and doesn't need to be an over the top extraordinary PHP IDE, CodeLobster is the one.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Being able to code in PHP without having to break out more money every year for the same product.

Good Code Editor

What do you like best?

II like how it does PHP, JavaScript, CSS, etc highlighting right out of the box. I like the different themes so depending on the place I'm at, I can change how it looks to make it easier to see with just a few clicks. Being able to pair this with Filezilla and locally editing individual files is awesome. I love how it will automatically put the ending curly bracket when you put down an opening one.

We do Joomla development and we have used the Joomla plugin to create the skeleton of Joomla components and Modules in the past and the skeletons are pretty useful for people starting out in creating custom Joomla extensions from scratch.

What do you dislike?

Every time I upgrade (install a new version), all my settings get reset and I have to go in and re-set everything back up. This includes any custom theme colors, tool bars, panel positions, closed panels, etc. Basically it resets all the settings every time you upgrade to a new version.

The only recognition for Joomla calls is if you are in a Joomla Project created inside the premium plugin. I'd like to be able to add include paths or reference paths in general to make it easy to work on multiple sites easily.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Play with the free version and Trial before you buy. The free version has a lot to offer right out of box. But if you develop for some of the platforms they have premium plugins for, give them a try as they can save you some time starting out.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It helps us not make careless errors like missing a semicolon on the end of a statement or a missing bracket. inside the same file, it helps us make sure the variable is spelled correctly and has the proper case.

What Integrated Development Environment (IDE) solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

Very basic editor that I won't switch to

What do you like best?

light weight and easy to use. code completion is limited but works fine. I liked it a little bit because the UI is very similar to my favorite c++ IDE "CodeBlocks"

What do you dislike?

basic UI, Limited documentation and code completion. only available on Windows.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would recommend codelobster for casual php coding. if you want to test a piece of code or write a small script, maybe codelobster be a suitable and light option.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I installed CodeLobster to try out and give a review. Mostly used it for PHP development.

Codelobster supports major Frameworks for development

What do you like best?

Very much lightweight, easy to setup, easy to use. Supports my favorite frameworks which i work all the times. Price is very much lower than other IDE softwares. Support multiple payment method via AvanGate. Support all the major Windows OS. Giving free Life Time Update facility.

What do you dislike?

Free version does not have all the features. If you want all the features, you will have to order for Professional version that supports all the features what they written in their website. Free version has very much limited availability.

But for advanced developers, you will agree to purchase Professional version as because you wanted do some real time works.

Their user interface is very much normal. Would like to see advance development and better UI design.

Recommendations to others considering the product

They have lightweight and speed fast IDE which supports HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL facilities with Version controlling and FTP features. Also have popular framework supports which will give you snippets to work more fast.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

They are best in their place as because they supports web development features with extra framework plugin like, Laravel, Yii, CakePHP, CodeIgniter, WordPress, Drupal, jQuery etc. This is the one tool that supports all the things.

By using this tools, they are very much lightweight. Speed, Reliable, Fast and good debugging facility. Although support version controlling system and FTP access as well.

I am not very much familiar with SASS and LESS but this software do support these kind of Cascading Style Sheets.

Codelobster, free but powerful

What do you like best?

For a free product it is full of features that help a PHP develoiper with an easy to use interface.

What do you dislike?

Some of the styles come with some annoyances built in and take some time and learning to tweak to be usable.

Recommendations to others considering the product

As a full IDE it may be lacking some features, but compared to solutions like text editors it has more features. It fits a nice middle of the road product which is what I prefer.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have tried a number of other editors and IDEs and this is my favorite out of all of them.

Lightweight, powerful, streamlined, feature-rich

What do you like best?

Project management, lightweight, syntax highlighting, support of multiple PHP frameworks, customization

What do you dislike?

No ColdFusion support; little documentation

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be aware that the free version comes with a Pro version trial. Unless you intend to subscribe to the Pro version in the future, don't develop your applications with the special framework plugins because you'll lose the ability to use those tools after the trial expires.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Used in the rapid development of intranet applications at work. Even the free version of the software outdoes Dreamweaver as an IDE in syntax highlighting, ease of use, CPU/memory usage and features.
