CommonSpot™ is a secure Web platform that includes a content management system, an application development framework, a suite of marketing solutions, and Web 2.0 and social media features that help organizations create world-class Web experiences that drive high-impact results.
As much as I would like to say things I like best, there's not a lot of things that I actually like about CommonSpot. If you like things where you can add boxes and update the information without any coding, this is the product for you. (But be warned, you don't have a lot of freedom.) I think the dashboard is the best part, but even then, it's really hard to learn if you are used to easy sites like WordPress, Wix or Weebly.
What do you dislike?
It creates crap code. Even if you want to throw in your own nice and clean HTML it adds weird characters and doesn't display it the way you want it to. This site is super controlled by the people who integrated it into our business. It calls itself responsive, but isn't mobile friendly. It's really hard to work with, REALLY hard. It's not ADA compliant or SEO friendly.
Recommendations to others considering the product
If you want to keep this, be in every single meeting when they release something new, or you will be behind the learning curve.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We used CommonSpot for our webpages, and after fighting to get rid of it, we are finally moving elsewhere. CommonSpot was only good to display webpages and nothing else benefit us from working with it.
