What do you like best?
The software has flexibility that allows each company to customize based on their specific needs. You can add HR Business Partners (or others as per business requirements) as proxy users so they may assist in the process when working with managers. We implemented single sign on (SSO) to ensure access to the tool is specific to internal IT security. As an administrative user, changes to the tool and/or formulas can be made in-house quickly and timely, without having to request it through the assigned technical representative at HCR (although this is always an option and they are very responsive). Once published, any new downloads from the site reflect the latest changes. Managers are able to work offline, and upload at a later time.
What do you dislike?
The initial training documents provided were not very robust and our company ended up having to create new customized documents that met our specific needs and communication style for our managers. Additionally, managers with multiple layers of lower level managers need to establish a timeline to ensure files do not overwrite lower level manager recommendations inadvertently. Ideally, the audit feature could be more robust as it is simple showing the last user to access the file, that being said, it still meets basic needs of who last uploaded a file.
Recommendations to others considering the product
I would recommend this software to meet the needs of salary planning, bonus, long term incentive awards, and employee total reward statement activities. In my experience, the level of support received to complete these activities in a timely manner has exceeded my expectations. The investment in this inexpensive solution has proved to be a valuable resource and has saved us time and money over using alternative vendors and in house teams, reducing manual manipulation of multiple spreadsheets and reducing human error. We have employees in 13 countries and the tool allows for multiple currencies and FX rates for ease of currency conversion for rollup reporting.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We were using spreadsheets for our annual salary and variable bonus pay programs. By using Excel to collect manager recommendations, we had to consolidate 40+ spreadsheets in a short timeframe in order to ensure executive management overview and input. We began looking for a software solution that could assist in streamlining this manual process and allowing more visibility to management at all levels in 'real time'. We've been using this tool for two years now and have added our LTI process last year with positive results. This year, we have kicked off a new project using the tool to produce Employee Total Reward Statements. Managers have found the tool to be user friendly and although it is a new platform for them, the look and feel of our internal spreadsheets remained intact, so the adoptability was seamless.
