Good as Cyberoam; Better as Sophos

What do you like best?

The On-Board Reporting is really what made the difference with these UTMs. Having the drill-down capabilities without additional licensing or appliances was invaluable.

What do you dislike?

The Web Filtering policies were good, but left a lot to be desired, now that they are owned by Sophos the new XG model UTMs and SF-OS are much better. The Cyberoams IPS is, however, bad! Even if you turn it off, it continues running because it is broken on almost every appliance. It is almost as if it was trying to be as bad as Cisco IPS implementations.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Sophos owns Cyberoam at the moment, and have made vast improvements by enhancing the Cyberoam OS. It is now called SF-OS or Sophos Firewall. Its very good. Comparable to Sophos UTM9 in many ways.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Layer 8 as they call it, the ability to associate Users with traffic. Very helpful, and ability to provide reports in realtime to managers on-site.

A great performing Unified Threat Management

What do you like best?

The product pricing is good as per the requirement of targeted companies. The look & feel of User interface as well as Admin console is fast & user friendly. The setup is pretty straight forward & does not need any deep tech knowledge. Deployment was very simple & fast.

What do you dislike?

There were quite some bugs which were streamlined with patches & fixes. The customer care need improvement in quality & technical knowledge. Sometime website links are too large to display in reports & looks really weird. Sometime it takes alot of drilling down to reach the real URL which user has used.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Do try out the trail before finalizing. Go for it only if it takes care of all your requirement else there are many other cheaper tools available in market with most basic features. You do not need any special skilled person to manage this.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Mostly as an advanced firewall for the entire organisation. Used it as user access / content management. Even used it for load balancing of bandwidth.
