What do you like best?
Dwolla's processing fees are very low - free for purchases less than $10, and only 25¢ for purchases over $10. There's no other payment service with such a low processing fee. This is why we are attracted to Dwolla, and in principle, it would be our first choice.
What do you dislike?
I wish more people were used to Dwolla. Payment services need people to be comfortable with them and using an unfamiliar payment service gives them pause. We are using Dwolla only secondarily - what we use primarily is PayPal. Many people already have PayPal accounts, but few have heard of Dwolla. As many issues as I have with PayPal, old habits die hard and it is one of the older payment services in the market. It has become very entrenched.
Recommendations to others considering the product
Dwolla is easy enough to use. The overhead costs for e-payment services are substantial, and can significantly impact revenue. However, people are creatures of habit and use PayPal. I wish they were more experimental and willing to switch to newer payment services. Dwolla is doing very well as a company, so I don't think it's going anywhere, and hopefully people will switch over more organically. In the meantime, I am forced to build the payment portals using Dwolla's alternatives, even at higher processing costs based on what we have found from User research.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
I am selling tickets to events online. Using an online payment service enables me to do this.
