"Overall Good Software"

What do you like best?

The software works very well overall, but the best features of Ecolane are the real-time optimization and the trip negotiation features. I have not seen a competitor that can do either of these tasks. We also like the availability of add-ons that enhance the customer experience, like the web portal and text messaging.

What do you dislike?

The deviated fixed-route feature needs a lot of manual assistance. The inability to change trips once they are active is something competitors allow and would be very helpful. The customer service response times are great on critical issues, but is often very slow on less pressing items. I often have to follow up to get answers.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Though there are some aspects Ecolane can improve, as someone who used a large competitors solution at a past agency I can say that all software has areas that can be improved. Ecolane works very well for us and has been very good about incorporating suggestions and improvements over the years.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Despite the few short-comings, Ecolane has greatly improved our efficiency, on-time performance and customer service. Being a more efficient agency has allowed us to grow our service area with little additional cost.

"Great Product, Stellar Service, Can't Find a Better Paratransit Solution"

What do you like best?

I love everything about the system, but the best part about the company is the people. Everyone knows the importance of the customer and also recognizes our need to provide the best service I can to my customers as well. I get prompt responses in times of need and am able to speak to a live person 24 hours a day.

What do you dislike?

I honestly cannot think of anything I dislike about the product or the company. If I am forced to answer, how about a more vibrant color scheme on the DRT software.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Listen to what the product is and know what it is that you want. Ecolane is an AWESOME product, but it is a tool, and if it isn't the right tool for your business, know if before you buy it. You wouldn't use a hammer to make intricate cuts that require a razor.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have reduced our dependence on our subcontractor usage without any addition of resources. This has saved us hundreds of thousands of dollars. We have also been able to provide a different model of service that is more efficient for us and our customers thanks to the implementation of Ecolane.

"Ecolane DRT works very well for our organization."

What do you like best?

The best feature is the data availability. The real-time data assists in managing daily operating efficiencies resulting in increased customer satisfaction. The data and reporting capabilities are endless. We have been able to significantly reduce staff hours for purposes of reporting and data analysis since implementation of Ecolane DRT.

What do you dislike?

Acknowledgement and resolution of non-critical support tickets is an area that could be improved. However, critical issues and support tickets are always addressed and resolved promptly.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be well prepared for an implementation such as this. The data must be clean (spotless) for a smooth transition to the Ecolane software (or any for that matter).

Communicate well with consumers, employees, subcontractors, and business partners in advance of implementation.

It is critical to have a dedicated Project Manager on staff to oversee the project from planning to completion.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We had a number of procedural issues during the initial Ecolane implementation because of necessary changes in the way we operate and some resistance from consumers, subcontractors, and business partners, because "this is not the way we have always done it".

We also initially had some issues with the integrity of our data transferred from our previous software.

Due to the Ecolane reporting capabilities for billing and centralizing our Call Center through use of Ecolane software, we were able to reduce our staff by three full time positions.

We have noted improvements in on-time performance and trips per hour.

"The many benefits of using the Ecolane DRT system"

What do you like best?

The Perry County Transportation Authority (PCTA) converted to the Ecolane DRT system on August 8, 2013. Prior to our conversion to the Ecolane DRT, the PCTA was scheduling trips manually, providing our drivers with paper manifests, using two-way radios to communicate with our fleet and calculating and reporting data by hand. Additionally, the PCTA administrative staff were unable to perform compliance checks on our service.

Since our conversion to the Ecolane DRT, our transit agency is operating much more efficiently. The system is very user friendly for all transit staff - from drivers, to dispatchers, schedulers, reservation staff, fleet manager and administrators. All data is collected on driver tablets and provides the dispatch staff with real time positioning of the fleet. Since all data is readily available and easy to view, the PCTA has incorporated monthly compliance checks on all trips performed by our transit agency.

What do you dislike?

The Perry County Transportation Authority (PCTA) is still utilizing an older version of the Ecolane DRT. Ecolane has added features to the system that will make the system even better. We are patiently awaiting the upgrade.

Recommendations to others considering the product

We involved all of our staff in the process of setting parameters and we are all cross trained within the system functions. Our employees embraced the Ecolane DRT and are still very pleased with the software.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are reversing negative cash flow trends by using the Ecolane DRT. We are no longer printing paper manifests for our drivers and having administrative staff manually inputting the data for reporting purposes. We have been able to combine positions and reassign various job duties within our transit agency. We have saved time by utilizing the tablets to send messages directly to our fleet in real time and to be able to reassign trips to other vehicles in the event that the driver is running behind schedule.

The PCTA is performing a higher number of passenger trips monthly at a lower cost. Our monthly fuel prices have been cut by 40% on average. Additionally, administrative staff are able to utilize their time performing compliance checks and maintaining the daily operations.

"Director of Forest County Transportation"

What do you like best?

Not sure. If it would go by area instead of time it would be great for us. There are alot of nice features in it.

What do you dislike?

I don't like that it is based on time rather than area. We live in the Alleghney National Forest and is very secluded. We travel 30 Miles no matter which way we travel to a grocery store or a medical appointment. This is not for a county like ours.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

not solving alot of problems.I like that it has the potential to do what we need it to do, But by going by time instead of area it doesn't do what i would like it to do. We use the GPS so why not make it go by area instead.Not sure
