What do you like best?

Factiva is an excellent resource for finding materials, news, profiles, etc. that might be otherwise difficult to track down. The database is quite extensive and allows me to search most popular newspapers, trade journals, etc. for use in compiling clip reports. You can easily gain access to information, find specific articles, or get detailed financial information as well.

What do you dislike?

There are really no downsides to having our company Factiva account - I find that it adequately meets all of our needs, and provides easy access to a wide database of relevant content. Customer service has also been excellent any time I have called to work through login issues, etc.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Definitely look into using it for your company. It helps cut down on needless time and energy searching for media. The database is extensive and customer support is excellent.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

On a typical day, I will utilize Factiva to track down full articles as well as company media mentions. These are then included into our daily clip report that goes out to company executives as well as employees. We also utilize it to cut down on the time spent searching for content.

Factiva 2017

What do you like best?

I love that Factiva can get behind paywalls so I can get the full text to the stories my leadership typically cares about most.

What do you dislike?

It is very expensive and it takes way too long to get Crain's stories. They are old news by the time Factiva gets them.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I put together a newsletter of media clips every morning and Factiva allows me to add stories that my other media monitoring tool, Meltwater, does not have access to. I can also copy and paste the text to share stories via email with coworkers and leadership who don't have subscriptions to these outlets.

Quick and comprehensive search tool on quality international media

What do you like best?

The boolean search query engine is a little daunting at first but once you have mastered it, it offers an extremely fast and sophisticated search facility. Once the search has executed, the ability to cut and filter the results into constituent parts is very strong, and equally quick. The ability to save searches is a great feature. The export options cater to a range of content consumption needs. Native language searches and a comprehensive list of countries in which to collect coverage are also a powerful feature.

What do you dislike?

Pricing per user is a little steep and you are limited to the number of searches you can save.

Recommendations to others considering the product

For traditional media collection, from reputable global sources, this is a great tool. The search functionality is extremely sophisticated. The filtering options are well designed and intuitive to use.

We used Factiva to supplement global media monitoring from another renowned supplier. It performed the task excellently.

Good supplementary tool for identifying coverage

What do you like best?

Factiva is great as a secondary tool for finding relevant coverage, particularly for stories that run in the print editions of select publications.

What do you dislike?

The database is somewhat limited in terms of what sources it includes and which it does not. Occasionally it pulls in spam or irrelevant content even after specifically filtering out some of that content using Boolean search terms. All in all the tool isn't as comprehensive as a simialr service such as BurrellessLuce.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Definitely use in conjunction with another tool since the database, though broad, is not entirely comprehensive, and there is no "perfect" tool out there for gathering coverage.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are able to use Factiva to supplement our Google News searches and provide a more comprehensive view of coverage for our clients. For those interested in how many people potentially read stories mentioning them, it's great to have access to where things ran in print.

What do you like best?

Factiva is a best source for traditional media coverage as it covers almost all the print media sources. Factiva is one of the best source in its category as it collects data from more than 32,000 sources in 28 languages.

What do you dislike?

The pricing plans of Factiva is not so good as Factiva charge in between $249 a month or $399 month. The pricing plan of Factiva doesn't consider the needs of client. I feel the pricing of Factiva is bit rigid.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are looking for traditional media coverage analysis for your company & client then Factiva is best tool as it provides you lots of features and pretty easy to use.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I was doing a project for my client where I was collecting information about traditional media coverage of few selected social topics for selected countries in local language. Factiva worked as a single source for data collection for all the required countries.

Good resource

What do you like best?

How simple and easy it is to do a search with key words for news about a client.

What do you dislike?

Nothing. I haven't had any disappointments with Factiva.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We need to do a lot of constant monitoring for news about our clients-- in a regular basis but also particularly when a client is in a crisis. It's wonderful to be able to search quickly, and specifically (by market, date, etc) for mentions of clients.
