"My go-to prototyping tool"

What do you like best?

Framer Studio is my go-to prototyping tool. Using coffeescript, it allows anyone to build mobile or desktop prototypes that feel like the real thing. The tool offers in-depth documentation, snippets, instant code and many other useful features. Framer Studio also integrates with your go-to design tool, like Sketch and Photoshop, for easy importing of files. You can also use the Framer app on your iOS device to view your mobile prototypes in real time.

What do you dislike?

As a beginner programmer, Framer Studio has a steep learning curve. However, they do a great job of supporting a large resource library and boast a really active community. In the future, I would love to see Framer Studio replace my design software so I can design+prototype in the same tool.

Recommendations to others considering the product

You'll need to have at least a basic understanding of Javascript to use Framer Studio. I also recommend getting involved with the Framer community online to see lots of examples of other people making similar prototypes.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Using Framer Studio allows me to put together prototypes that feel like real applications and websites. I then use these prototypes to get stakeholders' buy-in in a much more effective way than static mockups.

"Design UI interactions with code"

What do you like best?

I really like the ability to tweak the interaction parameters, write and edit code to customize the animations. It's a great tool for those who don't afraid of coding, however you don't really need to know how to code, but it extends your possibilities greatly.

What do you dislike?

The learning curve is somewhat steep, but on the other hand there are already lots of resources. You'll need to know Coffee Script to get the most out of the software.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It's a great tool for tech oriented designers with a passion for interaction and motion design.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We're visualizing micro animations for the UI's we create. Also is a great tool for high fidelity mobile app prototyping. I even could make splash screen animations in it, so basically you can see your product right from the loading screen, with all the interactions a user can make, without coding it first.

"Fantastic and Powerful Prototyping Tool"

What do you like best?

The flexibility and logic based interactions. The sky is the limit

What do you dislike?

It's webkit based, so native mobile features (haptic touch, camera, etc...) are not accessible. The design tab is not where it needs to be yet for production use, but quickly getting there. Modules and organization of modules is a bit fractured and hard to keep track of.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Design-to-dev hand off and ideation for real app behavior. Prototyping interactions through Framer has allowed me to be able to solve problems faster and showcase an idea to other team team members more effectively

"Steep learning curve, developer friendly"

What do you like best?

When you have a prototype up and running, the code output is what makes the difference with framer. It bridges a gap between front end and developers. This means that devs get a more precise idea of what you're attempting to design with motion especially.

What do you dislike?

As a UI designer with just basic HTML experience, the learning curve is kind of steep. Also, this is very much for designers who have a solid grasp of front end coding and css concepts. It's also written in a language of it's own that's supposed to be easier to pick up- but how easy it is to pick up is going to depend on the designer.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you're able to get past the learning curve of a new basic programming language, it's good. But if that's a challenge, it may present alot of friction in implementation.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Hoping to find a solution that communicates motion and design intention more precisely to a development team. It really does help developers understand the math of what you as a desinger are trying to accomplish in a specific way.

"Framer Studio"

What do you like best?

Framer Studio is 100% code based, which enables developers and designers alike to literally create anything they can imagine, as there is no limitation in terms of a pre-built library of animations, interactions and such. It allows anyone with some code-skills to communicate with high precision and fidelity their ideas to stakeholders and engineering.

What do you dislike?

There's a fairly steep learning curve if you want to get into Framer Studio, as it's fully code based. Framer does provide a very well documented library and a ton of resources to get new users going though. But from time to time it can be frustrating to not figure out why something isn't working right.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Internally I'm solving a great deal of communication issues related to building immersive interactions that are easy to build for engineers, and externally this is very vital to making sure our clients and stakeholders are aware of both the big picture and what we're doing on a micro-interactive level with their products and services.

"Intense prototyping software for the extreme designer"

What do you like best?

This software is capable of so much! You can literally prototype any interaction imaginable.

What do you dislike?

It is a little complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, it all makes sense

Recommendations to others considering the product

It helps to have some background knowledge in coding because framer is code based and requires you to understand conditional statements in order to prototype your design.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Communicating interactions
