"It is such a great experience "

What do you like best?

It is such a great experience to send client's images to edit without actually sending them physical files. The notes and tagging system is excellent. The ability to make pdf contact sheets is really great!

Also, the Customer Service of Global Edit team is great.

What do you dislike?

It seems a bit slow and hard to work with at first. The learning curve is a bit steep at first. But, overall looks great!

"Great DAM software for Corporate Archives"

What do you like best?

I have been using Global Edit for over a year now for The Estee Lauder Companies Corporate Archives. I love how the upload / download speeds are incredibly fast, very user friendly. Additionally, I can send light boxes from anywhere!

What do you dislike?

Only user error on my client side, but my Global Edit manager solves these issues with my client within an hour! Excellent support on their end.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Global Edit has an amazing support system to answer your questions. If you think they can not meet your requirements, ask them and they will customize or make improvements to their system.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were searching for a few years for the perfect DAM system for video and photography. We would send our clients hard drives, and also had problems sending large files via email. Global Edit has increased our business and lowered our request time by using their software. Our clients are happy and we are happy!

"Excellent application for organizing large photo shoots."

What do you like best?

Highly customizable metadata panels allow us to store an extensive amount of information. The markup tool is excellent, as is the ability to create lightboxes and contact sheets to send to anyone regardless of organization. The sheer amount of customizability in terms of user & group permissions and assignments can be a bit overwhelming, but is a great feature to have. Really useful keyboard shortcuts and only showing the user the features they need in front of them help it to appear very user friendly, even though there are endless options if you dig deep enough.

Their support staff is very helpful and they seem to put a lot of work into their product. Feature requests are taken seriously and the product is gradually improving.

What do you dislike?

It can run slowly at times, and throw errors, but the support team is helpful in diagnosing issues. Apparently they say they are upgrading the platform to HTML5 soon to make the system more quick & stable. Importing and exporting files requires the additional usage of the Aspera plugin, which isn't that bad in itself, but it requires many clicks, notifications and download managers, even to download a single contact sheet PDF. A drag & drop interface, or one that is a bit more intuitive, would make it much more user friendly.

The massive amount of customization is helpful but can get in its own way sometimes. For example, someone without permission to approve an image can ostensibly send it in a lightbox for someone else to approve, but lightboxes inherit permissions (though it's not explicitly stated anywhere); there is no way for the user to know that the recipient can't actually approve that image through the lightbox, even if the recipient has the proper permissions. Many "features" like this simply take time to get used to and a solid workflow is absolutely necessary to begin with before diving in.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our in-house photographers produce many small, complex shoots (1-3 shots every few hours), and this program isn't really built for that sort of workflow, though it is possible. Where it's really helped us is on location shoots, editorial shoots with freelance photographers, etc. When on location or shooting over several days, it's very useful to be able to have photographers upload as they shoot, so photo editors/retouchers can get to work immediately, since time is of the essence and without globaledit this generally takes several additional days. It cuts down the time needed to review images, make selects, and relay notes and markup by a ton. In addition, simply having the ability to store tens of thousands of our editorial assets in the cloud and available via a web or iOS app, giving our entire organization (plus others, if we wish) the ability to see, use or be inspired by them - for a relatively low price - is huge.

"GlobalEdit is the most productive workflow tool I have used in the past five years"

What do you like best?

GlobalEdit has a remarkably powerful suite of workflow tools and can handle a variety of tasks. It provides tremendous value and provides great time savings. Markups, comments, notifications, etc are easy to manage. The mobile app and Transport are also great value adds. GlobalEdit also provides outstanding customer service and its team is very passionate about the product. Metadata customization is also terrific.

What do you dislike?

There is a little bit of learning curve. GlobalEdit has an excellent support page to ease some of that, but users need to take the time to learn it. It is not difficult and once a routine is established, that pain dissipates quickly.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If GlobalEdit comes close to addressing your business need it is an investment that is well worth the cost. It can help in more ways than just providing a DAM-like interface.

We are using GobalEdit for potshot review. It replaces having to do massive uploads to local servers and passing around hard drives. It saves so much time, especially being able to view images on the fly., We are able to get images from a shoot retouched quicker. Art directors have access to them quicker. Reviews are onscreen and not on paper where they often get lost. We produce contact sheets for review too.

"I work with Global Edit on a daily basis, this is a great tool to assist in photo workflow!"

What do you like best?

Global Edit helps me see the scope of images I have coming in, and what each images requirements are. Its great to keep organized and collaborate with clients who are in different time zones. Everything comes in neat and organized, and is great for sharing images with multiple creative teams. The Global Edit team is great in assisting me with any needs I may have.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes I have a hard time finding the right drop down to complete a task, this is largely a user error on my part :/

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Reaching many teams at once and receiving feedback in one place, really saves on confusion and piecemeal direction. The filter tool is very useful on large jobs, to be able to sort within 150+ images to just find the 20 with markups for example has been a huge time saver, and frustration saver!

"Helpful but flawed design"

"Software for Client editing"

What do you like best?

"Globaledit: Time Saver"

What do you like best?

My favorite feature was the cloud only management.

I disliked the costs, it didn’t do enough for our company to make the costs worth it.
