"Decent for 2002"

What do you like best?

Goldmine allows for a lot of customizability. It allows small businesses an easy way to build a contact database and use it effectively without having to invest in a cloud-based solution.

What do you dislike?

The outdated interface. GoldMine shows its age the minute you open it. The system functions solely on-premise and requires much more maintenance than a similar cloud-based service. It proves difficult to integrate with the most common applications. The Outlook integration is slow and cumbersome, but you use it so you have a modern interface, unlike GoldMine's built-in client. The accounting integration is a joke and doesn't function easily.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

GoldMine is a simple contact database. It allows you to manage sales and support from a single interface. It allows you to manage your workload and set automatic follow-ups. It takes a while to train yourself to use the software.

"GoldMine is a diamond in the rough!"

What do you like best?

The search capabilities have saved us several times. The organization of each account is definitely helpful as well.

What do you dislike?

The complex process of connecting email to GoldMine is frustrating- however, we are also frustrated that we aren't using GoldMine to full potential - which is definitely our fault!!

Recommendations to others considering the product

Keep your team on the same page with GoldMine! It is so helpful as an intranet where you can store valuable information for keeping your company on track!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are moving away from relying on paper files and moving toward more organization and consistency. We are able to keep track of customers' orders, quotes sent, contact information and so much more.

What CRM solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Goldmine CRM a repository for all your Customer Information"

What do you like best?

Email, note, and customer interaction tracker for each customer or supplier that we deal with. You can quickly find out what your last interaction with that customer was, and where to go from there. This is a great system if multiple reps are working multiple accounts across multiple locations or if it is a customer you have not dealt with in a while.

What do you dislike?

No instant contact duplicate warning, there should be a pop warning you that a contact exsists instead of running a program to check if duplicates exsist, and maybe an easier way to merge contacts if a duplication exsists. Sometimes SQL integration can be clunky, i actually miss when dbase was part of the package and you didn't have to rely on sql.

Recommendations to others considering the product

At least download the trial to see if this software will meet your needs, Try before you buy. You won't be able to make an informed decision without at least comparing Goldmine with other popular CRM products.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We solve the problem of customer tracking, so if a different customer service rep picks up the phone they can easily see through notes and history what was the last interaction with this customer (pricing, products they use etc.) This has made customer interactions quicker and more precise.

"My Career with Goldmine......"

What do you like best?

Company contacts & history of same all in one application.

What do you dislike?

The program can be unstable. The Universal Search feature really isn't so universal.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would not recommend an immediate company wide roll out.

I would start with a small, sellect few individuals first. These need to be part of a team that was formed to investigate the need for a CRM program. Start with 3-5 seats. Set up the company and have these team members use the product for at least three months. Engage a Goldmine consultant (pay them) to work with you on the installation, training. Get buy in from your IT department. If they will not support it you are looking at an on going expense by having to rely on outside assistance. This is a great program but it will need constant updates to keep it running smoothly. I started using this back in 1995 as a project manager for a construction company. They didn't have any kind of a CRM at that time with several offices and revenues in excess of $250 million year. I did the research and picked Goldmine over several others that were available at that time.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have modified the program to track our dog sales & inventory. We are able to track a dog from the vendor we purchased from all the way through the various kennel locations we own, through those kennels and then ultimately to the end user that we sold the dogs to. Think of how our criminal justice system works. The dog being the human criminal. From be arrested and then processed through the courst, jails & prisons. Kind of the same idea but for dogs. We can tell you where any dog came from to where it currently is located today.

"Goldmine for Recruiting and Tracking Candidates and Clients"

What do you like best?

Look up and customizing fields is very easy. We have expanded the power of Goldmine by utilizing SQL back end processes to perform updates, scheduling, etc. The Dash board has been very useful!

What do you dislike?

Project module is cumbersome. Internal GM emails are not correctly reflected in the history and macros could be more used more for automation.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Document your process for everything you do/ based on each user in your organization. Then incorporate from the beginning any automation possible, set policy for your users on required fields and usage, don't allow your database to be ruined by users not following the process!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Tracking candidates, their skills, stay in touch, our pipeline of candidates to follow up on. Benefits have been that we have successfully done that ;-) It is a huge time saver for our recruiters and management can see in seconds our progress on staffing jobs.

"One-Stop Shop"

What do you like best?

All forms of communication are filed in the history of the contact with whom you are communicating. This means there is no sorting through the record of a corporation to find an email sent by a specific individual. This enables true team selling - sales management is always 100% informed on the progress of every sale.

What do you dislike?

I wish there was a feature available on each contact that keeps track of the amount of time elapsed since the last 'touch.'

Recommendations to others considering the product

It's worth the time to get it set up and running.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We do very concise targeted marketing at a very low cost because of the way we have tracked activities. I've created a number of fields that contain these data, then, using GoldMine's reporting capabilities, I send relevant, helpful, pithy emails with an open rate of over 18%.

"Customer database with easy customization options. "

What do you like best?

Easy to customize filters and customer information. Accounts are sorted into territories and sales personnel can easily find customers based off location, phone number, other vendors, time zone and more.

What do you dislike?

It does not allow order entry. We must use different software to place orders.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Good for use as a customer database.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

GoldMine provides us with an expansive customer catalog. We are able to easily store and search for accounts.

"Great CRM all-in-one"

What do you like best?

It's like Outlook with enhanced CRM options, such as form generation, more in-depth client data, and customization. This has been a tremendous tool for our sales team and they love it!

What do you dislike?

I would like better integration with outlook without having to purchase additional add-ons. This was originally marketed to us as as replacement for outlook that integrated with Exchange. Turns out this was not the case.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Take the time to evaluate what you needs actually are. We tried to deploy this as a replacement to Outlook for the entire office, when it turns out we really only needed it for our sales teams. It is a wonderful product, but take time familiarizing yourself with it before deciding on the number/group of users actually needed.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Better management of sales funnel and leads.

"Easy to operate CRM, ease with reporting"

What do you like best?

New record entry, History tab captures good amount of text, running scripted reports, output to excel easy enough.

What do you dislike?

The spinning circle when it cannot match your search request - it spins forever. A pop-up window stating match not found would be better. Mobile App needs another look. with IPAD use. Most sales people will not migrate to their laptop if they've been on an IPAD with GM and session wasn't successful.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure everyone is on board and understands their part in data entry.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We need to get all tasks associated with Sales Team functions completed. Sales Teams need to spend more time so they will see the value in their data entry for their reporting results. We also have very old records that need to be merged, purged, etc.

Business partner of the vendor or vendor's competitor, not included in G2 Crowd scores.

"The best CRM tool for the money. Very stable, very feature rich."

What do you like best?

GoldMine can track all your interactions, email, appt., calls, anything. It will track your sales pipeline, automate many repetitive tasks, and much more. Also, the upgrade path has been good and HEAT Software continues to develop and enhance this great product. Now with Web and Cloud options GoldMine is by far the best value for you money.

What do you dislike?

It would be nice to customize some of the areas that are not customizable like the entry screens for Activities, especially the Sales Forecasting screen.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Give it a try.... great product and there are many partners that are available to help you get up to speed quickly.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have used GoldMine to create our Corporate Memory. This allows all of our team to be on the same page and when new people come on board they can quickly get up to speed with where our clients are in any process, be it sales, customer service, or marketing. GoldMine integrates well with Constant Contact. So when an email campaign is sent you can return the results to GoldMine and make appropriate follow ups based on those results.

"Excellent CRM"

What do you like best?

The most important item to me in GoldMine is the ability to make my own fields and tabs. This has allowed us to manage our insurance brokerage since 2000 in a very efficient and effective way.

What do you dislike?

Not so much dislike - but don't fully understand how to use the Service area of the application

Also need more training on reports, how to build them etc.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We're able to keep all the information we feel is important for our agency (something you can't do in an insurance CRM that won't let you create fields) We can also efficiently create forms and application from the program through Word and get them to our carriers and insureds.

"Best historical data retention, room for lots of customization."

What do you like best?

Goldmine is a powerful tool, and we have had the chance to compare customer records we have in Goldmine vs some of our partners who use SalesForce, Act, etc. Our records are always better - never been a exception. We have all notes, customer meetings, email history., customer PO's and quotes under the one record. We do not have a manufacturer or partner who deals with the same customers with all our data. They come to us to see who to call.

What do you dislike?

The bid disadvantage of Goldmine is it is very unlike Outlook and Sales Force - and that is what people are familiar with. So there is a learning curve, and when we bring new employee's in it takes a while for them to get used to how to do things.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Customer historical data to allow us to suggest new or appropriate solutions based on their environment, what they have tried in the past, etc.

"Goldmine is my Goldmine"

What do you like best?

Contact oriented, custom screens , good searches.

What do you dislike?

With the new version even though I tell the computer to use Goldmine as my email client, I can't do what I did before Windows 10 where I hit an email address anywhere in the computer and it would go through Goldmine. SO the application I made that I have been using for 30 years I went backwards in functionality.

The filter and search changed one of the fields of state so had to redo searches. Have not figured out how to do the smart query and turn it into a saved search report. The integration of word has lost functionality because its tough to do a mass mailing other than doing an email blast . I don't like the new alarm function as it is an all or none. as it used to be if you dismissed a alarm for a contact before it would go to the next one. I don't like that I need to buy an outside program to do automated dialing of a list. In other words if you created a list and started calling as soon as you finish one another should show up. Had that function 20 years ago with another CRM

Recommendations to others considering the product

Doesn't integrate with Google docs and you want to have a better integration with outlook as opposed to the GM email client

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have solved the delegation, scheduling, and storing in a logical format information

"i work full time as inside sales account manager and this is fantastic"

What do you like best?

i thoroughly enjoy the well thought out template created. While we only utilize a fraction of what the system can do, it does with ease. Being able to manage my day to day business is leaps and bounds better than a decade ago. Each update brings new bells and whistles to consider and most work well with our sales environment.

What do you dislike?

One of my biggest complaints is NOT being able to arrow over from pending to history to additional contacts, etc as i DESPISE using the mouse. I understand Goldmine is a right-click button happy program, but the more i can avoid using the mouse the better off we are.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you're looking for a solution to manage any customer base, this is it. It's BEYOND robust and can be tailor fit for your specific needs

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Data integrity is paramount if you want to maintain a database of existing customers. Being able to manage certain SIC accounts for specific campaigns is a breeze. I can quickly identify my pharmacies from hospitals and move forward with my email campaigns very fast.

"Company database"

What do you like best?

I really like the easy access of goldmine. It lets me find contacts very easy and send emails. We really enjoy using this as a mass email tool. I personally use it to follow up on quotes which makes it really easy to send the email. Next time around i am able to review the last email so i dont have to remember what i said but it is right there in front of me. We also use Goldmine to connect our product to users which makes it very helpful if there is a problem down the road.

What do you dislike?

i would like to get more information on how to store data and make appointments. It seems like we can do so much more with Goldmine but we are not using the full capability. I am under the impression this might be something that is due to us not knowing but i think that if we get proper training or advising, we would use the full capability of Goldmine. We would most likely add more users and use the software company wide

Recommendations to others considering the product

Use it. it is a great tool for what we use it right now. I believe there is much more for us to experience

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are connecting people to our products which makes it very easy to track who has our products. this way we are able to contact users and tell them more about any news

"Best CRM for the price"

What do you like best?

Out of the box it's easy to use and navigate. Once you learn left and right mouse you can pretty well do everything in the program.

What do you dislike?

I would love a better integration to Outlook. I would like some of the calendaring options that Outlook has incorporated into Goldmine.

I would also like the search feature to search both the primary and additional contact in one search

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you go feature by feature, Goldmine still offers more for your money.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Pricing always comes up and Goldmine is pretty reasonably priced and flexible. Being licensed as a concurrent user program, makes it much easier for small to mid size business to afford

"Goldmine 2015"

What do you like best?

The system is designed with the salesperson in mind. It can also be simplified for order takers. The reporting is great for managers. The bells and whistles make things easy. The online function is terrific for multi-unit offices.

What do you dislike?

It takes some work to streamline and to set up defaults. It takes someone trained to make the interface right for individual needs. The calendar feature was hard to intergrate. The tab interface is a bit clumsy.

Recommendations to others considering the product

"Still the best solution on the market"

What do you like best?

Its customizability and flexibility. I can lay out the screen any way I want. Integrated e-mail tracking is unmatched. Everything I need is right at my fingertips. I am not stuck with a never-ending monthly bill just to use the product.

What do you dislike?

Enhancement requests can take too long to show up in the product.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Gather your list of business needs and have someone give you a good quality demo based on those needs.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Keeping informed and up to date. With everything I have going, there is no way I can even imagine keeping on top of everything without it. It's the first program I open and the last program I close.

"I need more training to really get the hang of it, but it is a very useful tool for Sales!"

What do you like best?

I like several of its abilities: You can create groups of all kinds and send out mass mailings. You can work with code and add URL links and pictures. You can create specific fields to sort and create groups. You can track your sales.

What do you dislike?

You do require training in order to use it to its full potential...you pay for maintenance and upgrades, then you have to pay for a partner to help you when you can't accomplish tasks.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Creating documents to merge in GoldMine is the best. I have created so many different documents that I use all the time, and it creates more time in my day to focus on other tasks because of this feature. I not only use the Documents Email for single client follow-up, but also for mass mailings!

"Goldmine is old school and maybe its time for something new?"

What do you like best?

Goldmine came out several DECADES ago and was a really good sales CRM. I think that it's GOOD, but there are things that are better now.

What do you dislike?

The fact that it is old and their leadership moved on to create a more robust software called Nimble. It just seemed dated. The challenge is that there are so many softwares to choose from. You need to decide whats best for you!

Recommendations to others considering the product

"Goldmine Administrator: Great CRM Product & Critical To Our Success!"

What do you like best?

Goldmine is integral to our company's success, and we have been using it since 1996. Small business, 1 location, less than 20 employees. It's so important that we actually threw a party to celebrate our 10 year anniversary with the Goldmine software in 2006.

Every employee touches Goldmine in some way. Power users are in Sales, Management, Marketing and Purchasing. But Accounts Payable uses it and so does our Warehouse! One place to keep track of info for all of our customers, prospects and suppliers. Easy to put information in and to search for it and output it. Serves as our E-mail client.

What do you dislike?

I love the new Dashboard feature. But I wish there was an easier way to create Dashboards. Deleting from Universal Search results would be nice. And color coded backgrounds for record typing.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Success comes when top management understands the importance of Goldmine, and reinforces its usage. Well defined business processes will help you out. Find a Goldmine Solutions Partner, you will need one.

"Easy to use so it becomes the home for sales contact"

What do you like best?

I am the admin and user of our GoldMine system. Having a system that allows easy creation of new fields for customizing is key. Having the correct fields means that it is used more. I also train new sales people and find that it doesn't take long to have people up and running quickly.

What do you dislike?

I don't like that I am short on time to use all that GoldMine offers - primarily Web Import and Automatic Processes. Once I get these set up, my efficiency will increase quickly. The ability to set these up without programmers is delightful.

If I have to be picky about one thing, it would be that the field name "Fax" is now labeled "Mobile" on additional contacts. If you swap an additional contact with the primary, the mobile number transfers to the "Fax" field. Leads to confusion.

Recommendations to others considering the product

The add on modules (wMobile and MasterMine specifically, are very useful in using GoldMine.) The ease of set up, of use, of administering makes it my favorite. I came from a global company using SAP (I was on global implementation team) and can't imagine a small company our size using anything that large. I've reviewed several of the competing companies (SugarCRM, SalesForce) and we are sticking with GoldMine.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our inbound leads have skyrocketed and processing of them has to be automated. I can use GoldMine for this.

Also when a sales person leaves, I have all their contact history with clients and prospects in GoldMine. It truly is a Goldmine for us.

"Very robust with many features and room to grow with the business."

What do you like best?

The integration of Constant Contact and wide availability of customization.

What do you dislike?

Having to use dBase in Rule Base Select. This should be sql based, or have a user interface for not dBase or sql users to create the rules for custom fields.

Recommendations to others considering the product

With the ability to fully customize screens and tabs for different departments this is a win in my book.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Goldmine - Costly but it is otherwise great!"

What do you like best?

As an early GoldMne adopter, our business and use grew along with GoldMine's capabilities. We always prized its flexibility and ease of use - and we were particularly pleased with the breadth of its features.

What do you dislike?

Over the years we became a GoldMine dependent business, but we started to feel the pain of its high cost: Both with the fees of consultants and the corporate costs.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Regardless of the cost, GM is a good, slick product that deserves your consideration.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

When we moved to a suburb of Los Angeles, we could no longer afford to pay hundreds of dollars per hour for consultants who also charged for their drive time. We were running GM on our own server and the costs were mounting. Sadly, and almost entirely because of cost issues, we moved to a Salesforce product.

"Goldmine is the leading CRM tool in my opinoion"

What do you like best?

Goldmine is an easy to use software for those interested in maintaining strong client relationships, even in large organizations, or organizations with a high turnover. Simple to use interface. Fast response time. Ability to create both groups on the fly, as well as filtering contact based upon one or multiple criteria.

What do you dislike?

Wish it was more cloud based. Would be even better if there was an I Phone app that linked to Goldmine. There is, but non-native. Some reports could use more development; there are second had vendors who have applications to extract and prepare reports based upon Goldmine data, but it is a pain. I wish it was a native part of Goldmine.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Consider who controls your information when considering a CRM. Most cloud based systems do not allow you to control your data.

What is the long-term cost of paying a monthly data management fee, versus owning your own software install?

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Problem solved - better communications with client, ability to keep history of staff/client interaction even when staff move on to other jobs.

Ease of mass, 1 on 1 communications with our various clients - and storing copies of all e-mail communications in the client history. Ability to customize fields has been vital.

"GoldMine Review"

What do you like best?

GoldMine has been a big part of my business for over ten years. I like the fact that we can create our own custom fields and set them up how we use them for our business. Also, the ability to have that information populate into templates we create is very powerful for the documents we use with our clients.

What do you dislike?

There is a field limitation of 1000 fields which isn't an issue for most, but we track a lot of our clients information so we are near the maximum allowed.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Definitely worth looking at no matter the size of your business.

"Ok for a CRM"

What do you like best?

It offers a simple way to keep a list of contacts and make sure you are following up with clients and leads.

What do you dislike?

It has its bugs. It can run slow and sometimes it will not link properly. Proper formatting in email is atrocious - it's better to format an email in Word and copy and paste it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It's easy to send emails out to multiple people and format them with a personal touch. It would be nice to send a larger amount of emails without causing the system to slow.

"GoldMine is your pot of Gold."

What do you like best?

GoldMine is simple to use, easy to train users and easy to manage. Our Sales Staff lives and breathes because of GoldMine. The Sales people are always making updates and checking appointments and making notes about conversations with customers. It's a fantastic tool, easy to deploy and super easy to manage. Runs very efficiently on SQL Servers and is very user friendly.

What do you dislike?

The only think I dislike is that we did not decide to use GoldMine sooner

Recommendations to others considering the product

This is the easiest of all CRM packages to deploy and be certain that your users will enjoy the experience.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Customer contact is easy to keep upto date, and Sales People rely on the notes and information they post to the individual files to keep them current with customer needs. It's invaluable for appointments.

"Goldmine makes me the CEO of my own business"

What do you like best?

Speed. Can get to any contact, any phone number, any task at lightning speed then auto dialing or emailing or whatever the task is at hand. Goldmine makes me the CEO of my own business. Love the document management, templates and the ease of managing email merges.

What do you dislike?

The maintenance policy. I am only one man. Having to pay for four seats every year is an annual chance to be annoyed and drop coverage and change the company's standard fair web based thing.

Recommendations to others considering the product

For me, Goldmine is a client/server application. So it gets panned for not being a 100% web based. The UI is busy. Which is what makes it so great for a Sales professional. But also makes it seem out of step. Don't be fooled. GM is reliable and fast. It has the well conceived features that make a Sales professional productive. Senior Executives fall for the 'so-called' wonders of WEB based CRM reporting. But years after the CRM has been implemented, the Sr. VP of Sales is still walking around with an excel print out of the forecast in his pocket. If you know and love GM, you will sell more. Except for I.T. geeks, I am pretty sure that is the top priority for everyone. Oh yeah. One more thing. GM has a fine set of reporting for senior execs.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Efficiency of running the territory. So much productivity. I am so much faster than my poor co-workers at getting volumes of business done. Sales is a numbers game for sure. I hate chewing up the time on metrics if it takes away from driving known prospects through the pipeline. Goldmine keeps the grind it out part of the job manageable. Goldmine is also indispensable for moving prospects and customer forward in the sales cycle by enforcing reminders to NOT miss a step and also to make sure I keep focus on the steps in a timely manner.

"Very Mature = Highly Functional CRM"

What do you like best?

Goldmine has been around for a long time. There is so much functionality available in the software that is not available in more recent entries into the CRM market.

What do you dislike?

Still sometimes confusing of how to use a Contact vs Additional Contacts. Just have to think through it before you commit to what your organization's standard will be.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Get a very detailed demo of all the functionality of the product before you begin. Make plenty of notes to yourself of what functions you will use. List those functions in order of importance and implement as you go. Allocate the time and resources to configure the system upfront based on how you are going to use it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As simple as it is having all your contact and their details quickly available is still the biggest benefit. I use the Project Tracking to help keep up with where I am and what step is next in managing SEO programs for customers.

"Goldmine CRM - For Better or Worse"

What do you like best?

Goldmine is a powerful CRM allowing users flexibility and options. It is straightforward and, depending on the level of information and reporting, easy for the end user to master. The Outlook plug-in is helpful.

What do you dislike?

The Goldmine Mail Client is very poor. We had to create g-mail accounts for everyone because Goldmine was stripping all our attachments off the emails when they were opened. Gmail saved them.

Goldmine's Outlook plug-in, while helpful, is limited in its capabilities. Every business is different and in ours, we need to link outlook emails using fields that aren't available with the plug-in.

While Frontrange support is available, there is at least one first line technician who is extremely rude. I will not speak to him when I call in. Our Goldmine partner, while knowledgeable about many aspects of Goldmine, doesn't know how to handle some of our questions.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure you get a good Goldmine partner at the very beginning. Switching partners is a difficult and expensive undertaking. Also, make sure Goldmine is the right software for your particular business application.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have been able to track our clients and their contracts fairly well. We have had to hire someone in-house to work directly with Goldmine on the reporting and database cleanup. We are progressing in our reporting and clean-up. We are also working on a new build for better contract and agent commission tracking.

"Great software, very versatile and customizable"

What do you like best?

We love how easy it is to customize Goldmine. We use this CRM extensively in our office and appreciate that it's server based, versus internet based like a lot of new software. It moves quickly, keeps everyone in the office up to date all the time and we are able to provide excellent service to our clients.

What do you dislike?

The only major dislike is we haven't figured out how to use cloud syncing so we can access our database easily from a mobile device.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure you are okay with a server based product before you make a commitment one way or another.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We stay committed to providing the absolute best service in our industry. In doing so, with a team of 6, we need to be able to stay up to date with client requests, statuses of items, and all the various steps that we complete for a new or existing client. Goldmine allows us to do all of that in more in just a few clicks. We are able to keep our clients happy and bring on new relationships using this software.

"Goldmine has been my contact managmenet software for the last 10 years."

What do you like best?

It allows me to build all sorts of files and I can sort them in a variety of ways depending on the need of the day.

What do you dislike?

It almost has too much functionality and given that I know I do not use more than 30% of its capability.

Recommendations to others considering the product

go through the training but not all at once - spread it out

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Staying in touch with customers based on reminders I have in place are most important. Obviously the benefits are that each client feels important because we are following up with them and based on our notes (both personal and business wise) they feel as if they are more like friends vs. customers

"Gets better with age"

What do you like best?

Goldmine has become more user friendly, much easier to navigate.

What do you dislike?

I cannot say that there's really anything I "dislike". Great product.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Goldmine used to be very difficult to use. It has become so much easier to use, to teach to new users also. I have tried demos of other software, hated it. Definately go with GM, they have the solution, trust me!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I'm the type of person who scribbles notes down while on the phone onto any paper i can find lying around. I've trained myself to automatically put all my notes/info into the system and i actually save time, and have increased productivity exponentially.

"Great tool for keeping your team organized!"

What do you like best?

I like the fact that you can create records and customize fields to fit your needs. This allows me to keep multiple teams, organized.

What do you dislike?

My least favorite feature, is the Goldmine Alarm. I haven't quite figured it out how to use it efficiently.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I'm solving a lot of issues that deal with documentation. Being able to help sort and customize notes/memos, is a huge benefit for me.

"Vice President"

What do you like best?

Easy to use and inexpensive. We use both for tacking clients and finding our vendors for construction. It is the best giant rolodex that you can find. We are mature users as we have had since 2000.

What do you dislike?

It needs to have multiple product types to search and a better way to use in on a smart device. Also would like better reports available. Goldmine needs to work with it's end users to get a better product.

Recommendations to others considering the product

original setup is very important, but it is easy to add or re-setup if needed

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It helps us find vendors for unusual items when bidding or trying to solve a problem. Most of the time you may use a vendor in the past, put them into Goldmine, then you have them forever. Especially good for new younger employees that may not know the vendors.

"Goldmine is still one of the best"

What do you like best?

I've used Goldmine for years and still love the ability to easily track and market to my clients. The ability to keep track of each contacts activities is critical with any effective marketing campaign. Goldmine still does this the best and has a very low total cost of ownership.

What do you dislike?

licensing model is not my favorite. I don't like that you are required to buy a minimum number of users. Also I haven't seen a good cloud solution yet from Frontrange

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Tracking marketing campaigns is a primary benefit Goldmine offers. Creating and sending personalized email marketing is so simple - I love it!

"Goldmine"

What do you like best?

It has a lot of features and the user interface is pretty straight forward. It was in the top 3 CRM products we seriously considered.

What do you dislike?

Ultimately, we chose to go with Salesforce primarily due to the API and the ability to interface with our other proprietary software (this was a preference of our programmers).

Recommendations to others considering the product

Very good company to speak and consult with. They were not pushy and provided alot of answers and alternatives.

"Gets the job done "

What do you like best?

Goldmine was very simple to use. It was easy for me to create, edit, and manage the hundreds of contacts id view each day.

What do you dislike?

Maybe things have changed since I last used GoldMine but I wish it was easier to upload and manage a bunch of records at a time instead of individually.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It was a feasible tool for the small size of the company I worked for but I feel like there are better options out there.

What do you like best?

Very powerful CRM with full suite of contact management, lead management, and mail-merge functionality. It integrates well with G Suite for Business through the RIVA CRM integration solution.

What do you dislike?

Very dated and confusing interface, difficult to customize (eg. hide unwanted features for deployment), difficult to administer.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Goldmine helps us turn communication activities into shared company knowledge, and leverage relationships to support sales and operations.

"GoldMine served our needs nicely..."

What do you like best?

What I liked best about Goldmine was the easy integration with email. Emails sent were automatically linked to a contact (recipient). We could take that a step further and link it to additional contacts which was great for us. We could associate the same email with the prospect (or customer), a manufacturers rep and a distributor.

What do you dislike?

We found it difficult to get all of the information we were looking for when we exported a list to Excel. For example, if we were making a list of customers by state or by lead source.

Recommendations to others considering the product

The expense of upgrades is what made us seek a new solution for our CRM needs. That and the fact that we didn't know where to go for support. I fyou have your own IT Dept (we don't) GoldMine will probably work better for you. We didn't have the resources to tailor the software to fit us, we were looking for a more off-the-shelf package which it was for us for a while before our needs changed.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We used GoldMine for emails, for contact management (reminders) and for creating an opportunity pipeline. The benefit is that if a customer asks us to call back in 90 days we can see that task coming up.

"Most Robust Features for a SMB"

What do you like best?

GoldMine PE has every possible feature I would expect for desktop CRM in the SMB environment, particularly the integration of contacts, calendar, and email.

What do you dislike?

GoldMine PE does not have a cost effective, easy to implement cloud option. Their cloud option requires a more complicated and costly network, which is not a viable option for stand alone installations.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It's fair easier, more intuitive, and less expensive than SalesForce.com, yet far more robust than all the other popular options. What they need to improve is integration with the many SaaS products out there, as SalesForce.com does do well.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"FANTASTIC GOLDMINE!"

What do you like best?

The integration between Goldmine & Hubspot allows our sales force to quickly receive their respective prospects and provides them with a great deal of information about these prospects prior to contacting them.

Very best feature is having John Neighbors, For Him Consulting, as our Goldmine expert. We've used his services for the 10+ years we've used Goldmine. He did the integration with HubSpot, all of our updates & customizations, and troubleshooting. No one in the industry better than John!!!

What do you dislike?

Goldmine used to partner with Dymo which made sending labels directly out of Goldmine to the Dymo label writers seamless. Several years ago the partnership ended and so did that ability. We are continuing to use a very old Dymo version so we can still print the labels, which is a huge time saver for our sales team.

"Good but many bells and whistles that remain unused."

What do you like best?

Easy access to contact info and historical information. Very good records of previous e-mail communication.

What do you dislike?

Goldmine looks at different time stamp information than Outlook and thus when receiving meeting invites from from other time zones, the meeting times are not set correctly on your calendar. Goldmine doesn't seem to think it's a problem and will not correct it.

Goldmine doesn't "play well with others".

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure that you are aware what Goldmine can do and plan to USE the features. Seems to be a waste to only use e-mail and contact management.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We do not use many of the features of Goldmine, just e-mail and contact records. We use opportunity manager for our sales department but again, not to it's fullest. Many wonderful features to Goldmine but training to use such is lacking.

"We use Goldmine to manage clients & prospects and managing our invoicing process"

What do you like best?

When used correctly, able to do a number of different applications. Filters, email templates, customized programs that we use for accounting purposes. It's also helpful to see history on the record. Our email is also connected to Goldmine.

What do you dislike?

We have transitioned to Google for Business and Goldmine is not ready to adapt that program. We also wanted to set up auto-dialer, but too many 3rd party vendors to make it worth our while. There should also be a better system for filing emails as they do get built up in the system.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are planning on using Google for Business, Goldmine is not currently ready to integrate calendars and other functions (i.e. google docs, google calendar) We are able to set up google email accounts, but it does require knowing how to set it up in both Google and Goldmine for it to connect properly.

"Using Goldmine for our recruiting business"

What do you like best?

Goldmine is a robust product that allows us to track everything that happens with our clients in the history file. The ability to see all emails between us and the client, has been extremely useful in ensuring that we both have the correct information.

We had the software modified when we started using GM in 1997, so that we have custom fields that lets us track specific technologies, industries, etc. This enables us to identify specific companies, candidates etc as we work with clients. Each time we have upgraded to a new edition, it has been easy, and pretty seamless.

What do you dislike?

The only thing I dislike about Goldmine has nothing to do with the product, but the inability to purchase less than a 5 user license for support. We are a boutique recruiting firm specializing in a niche market, and only have 3 recruiters on staff, but in order for us to get support from GM, we have to either use an outside source (which we do) or buy a 5 user license for support from GM. It sends the message that Front Range isn't going to support the small shops.

Recommendations to others considering the product

GM can and will meet most every need you have in your organization for your CRM needs, and more. You can be up and running pretty quickly, and learn new things along the way without compromising what you want from GM.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Keeping track of agreements between us and clients, as well as candidates. I love how the email client in GM keeps everything handy for reference. We are able to keep track of what companies are using what technologies so that searches are easily accomplished with filters, and campaigns.

"CRM when you need the Simple solution."

What do you like best?

Goldmine is cheap compared to other CRM systems like Salesforce. Also it's search is SQL base so it can set up to be very robust.

What do you dislike?

Unlike Salesforce it is not as customizable. Also, it is very easy to slide into a world of duplications and missing data. Also the interface is not as robust. It has a very simple interface as a CRM system and if you are not used to CRM system, this is a great way to get your company started.

Recommendations to others considering the product

No, I would still recommend that a company look at Salesforce.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were using it as a CRM solution before Salesoforce. It is cheaper compared to Salesforce but it just does not do everything that Salesforce can do.

Keeping track of tasks for our clients and wholesalers in an efficient way. It allows us to work as a team as we pass our notes back and forth.

"Goldmine 2014.2 CRM"

What do you like best?

Goldmine CRM is a wonderful tool to keep track of contacts and email history. Create groups and filters on the data.

What do you dislike?

Goldmine is not easily accessible when I am out in the field. Have to log-in to my work computer remotely to access ALL features of Goldmine.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Great for a small business.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Tracking Leads, creating email filters, and making sure that key pieces of a project are not lost.

"Basic. Very Basic."

What do you like best?

I loved the price. Goldmine is a very cheap CRM solution that would probably be very useful for a small business. It doesn't have many bells and whistles and the interface is a little old fashioned, but it a very reasonably priced solution if you just need to use something better than your rolodex and you want to start keeping track of your opportunities.

It was nice that you wouldn't have to leave Goldmine if you had other web pages that you needed to view that were related to an account. For example, we connected radio station accounts to that radio station's page on radiolocator.com and the seller would never have to leave Goldmine to see the station's signal maps.

What do you dislike?

It was incredibly difficult to customize in Goldmine. I think if you have a complicated business or rate card that Goldmine is hard to customize. We ended up having to create custom software to get the functionality we needed and then we ended up leaving Goldmine and the custom software and moving to Salesforce.com which we've been very happy with.

Recommendations to others considering the product

My best recommendation is to think about how complicated your business and your customer base is. If you're looking for something simple and cheap, Goldmine might be the right thing for you. If you're looking for something more robust and customizable and aren't afraid of the expense, you might consider something more along the lines of Salesforce.com.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were looking for a way to keep track of our limited universe of customers. We needed a way for a seller to have a quick snapshot view of a prospective client. It was nice and easy to search by a certain field so that if a prospect called, a seller would be able to look them up fairly quickly and get a snapshot of their account.

"What we were looking for"

What do you like best?

We can track our products easily with Goldmine by customer, serial number, location, etc.

What do you dislike?

There is a lot of customization available which is great - but also isn't the easiest when you were using old versions and brought over old information. We aren't able to utilize it to it's full potential off the shelf.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are able to easily track our items sold, contact customers for sales leads and track service calls. The document linking has been useful so there is no more searching for conversations that happened several months ago, it is all connected.

"Most of the time it works, and sometimes it doesn't. But the customer service is amazing. "

What do you like best?

I mostly use Goldmine for scheduling purposes. It is the easiest thing to link a client to a schedule, change users, change the time, appointment type...etc. I can make my own adaptations to the appointment type as well.

What do you dislike?

Scrolling becomes a difficult issue on the calendar. If I accidently have an appointment highlighted and I use my mouse scroll bar, my appointment will move.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be patient, go slow. Rushing doesn't solve anything.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Nothing compares to the client database that we are allowed to input with the type of interactive calendar.
