"An extremely powerful analytical tool"

What do you like best?

The best feature is the easy to use interface, which is very intuitive and easy to pick up without many lessons. The scripting function that comes with Golden Software and particularly for Grapher, makes creating bulk workflow easy.

What do you dislike?

There is truthfully nothing I dislike about Grapher, although maybe having a back up file system would help, like Microsoft use with their office suite. A few times I have made large changes accidentally using scripter and can't go back.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would recommend grapher to anyone who was interested in making their workload easier and also having a software that had powerful analytical parameters. It is very intuitive and easy to navigate, which makes learning the program easy. Another plus is the customer service and support. It has helped me to pretty much learn writing script from scratch and completely streamlined my workload. Good customer support can be hard to come by and Golden Software have incredible support. Grapher is a step ahead for any business looking to gain a stronger analytically tool than excel, for data representation.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I had a very large amount of sample points that needed to be graphed and used scripter to complete aobut 1400 of these graphs in about half a day. It took a job that would have manually taken an eternity and made it simple/easy. The graphics of grapher are also very modern and high resolution, which makes presenting data more impressive in reports and also in presentations.

"A package for producing professional plots"

What do you like best?

The immediate and personal support from Golden Software.

The total control that Grapher Properties Window provides to produce professional looking plots.

Every version number includes a major new feature - this time in v13 it is Piper Plots.

What do you dislike?

Some important features are a bit hidden e.g. the enhanced curve fitting capability. I have suggested that curve fitting deserves its own tab and should be able to be added to the Quick Access Toolbar.

Recommendations to others considering the product

There may be alternatives, I don't know - why change if you are happy.

The product is superior, the price is reasonable and beyond that the free support provided by Golden Software is beyond excellent. Over recent years an ever growing library of videos has been developed and these contain quality nuts and bolts presentations not mere marketing flim-flam. On the few occasions I have had a query I have found an answer in my email the next day.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Clear presentation of data from geophysical LAS files (yes, I could use Strater but for some applications I prefer the elegant simplicity of Grapher).

Plots of correlated data

Plots containing multiple graphs e.g. scatter plots and cumulative plots for same data.

Having established some simple templates, the benefit is the ability to reproduce plots in the same style and format each time.

What Data Visualization solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Excellent graphing tool that provides power analytical tools"

What do you like best?

The best function of Grapher and other Golden Software programs for me has been their inbuilt scripting tool, which makes it fast and easy to produce multiple graphs, plots or input unique data.

What do you dislike?

I can honestly say that there hasn't been a single thing I have dislike about the program.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would recommend Grapher to a company that is look to move forward from other graphical tools, such as Excel. Grapher has a number of inbuilt tools that make it extremely powerful, such a Piper Diagram plots, which are difficult to produce in other programs. Grapher comes inbuilt with a number of different graph types, such as Polar and Ternary. Grapher also has the ability to plot 3D surfaces, which has been invaluable in constructing Geological and Hydrogeological conceptual models. The user interface is very easy to understand and very intuitive, so any user can pick up the software without lessons and begin to understand how the system works. Another major plus of Grapher and Golden Software in General is there level of support. I am an Australian user and have been able to have one of one live chats with technicians in the United States regarding script construction. I have also had a number of email chains remain open for a number and weeks. The support has always been friendly and extremely helpful, which can be difficult to find with some software companies. I have never had an issue that hasn't been resolved and the team always go above and beyond to meet your needs.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

In has increased productivity, as we have designed a number of scripts to produce bulk loads of plotted data, that would about usually taken about x100 longer to produce.

"Todd: oh, man, that's great, that solves too many problems."

What do you like best?

It allows me to create very specialized graphics and provide tools beyond what other basic graphics software can provide, which is very easy to learn and use for scientific drawing, which is great!

What do you dislike?

Hopefully the pie chart can be improved. In addition, more worksheet operations may be better. If I need to import some basic data, the import tool can be done very easily, but if you need complex custom formatting data, it sometimes can't handle it.Normal licensing fees are quite high, despite the low prices of students.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Easy analysis of data from different sources, long-term and short-term statistics in an easy-to-read graphical format.Professional layout data presentation with various charts.Using the Grapher rendering data makes it easier to manage.

"Professional Scientific Illustrating System"

What do you like best?

Ability to adjust and tune every element of plots. The plots show as you see them.

Richness of the employed graphing styles and tools. Logical and convenient interface. Ability to script and write programs.

What do you dislike?

Yet insufficient arsenal for advanced line and object graphic design, for example, making text following a line. Some advances statistical capabilities, like correlation analysis, can be added. When I dislike something I complain to the support team, and they fix it in a next version.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Just try it, and if you are critical to graphics you will stick with it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

All cases requiring visualisation of data presented as a function of a single variable. Multiple plots can be stacked together with easy control of respective axes. Paper-quality illustrations requiring attention to detail.

"Great Support Great Product"

What do you like best?

ActiveX/VBA scriptable. Many non-standard graph types. Reads directly off Excel workbooks. Many non-standard graph types. Great free support not just with using the program but with scripting as well. Constantly adding new display types.

What do you dislike?

Some front end re-designs seem like redesign for redesign's sake.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Great value for money. Saved me many hours and headaches.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Mass automation of graph production for reports and data analysis. Very fast. Also it just goes that little bit further in terms of graph visualisation than Excel does. For example histograms that allow for transparency. Also you can integrate Surface grids and Images and contol export DPI levels. You can even use it simply as a bulk image file converter.

"User since G3 till G13"

What do you like best?

Everything in the graph is very easy to change as I want.

What do you dislike?

Fitting formula of custom defining is of some difficulty to manage .

Recommendations to others considering the product

As having been using Grapher for many years, I do believe Grapher is one of the most essential must-have tools for reports preparation, data analysis, trend prediction, data modelling, etc. Unlike any other popular softwares, Grapher is just small but powerful, clean but complete in every necessary functions. According to my personal experience, Grapher does help me a lot in most of my work since Grapher version 3 and still being. Grapher makes it much easier and more efficient in data analysis, modelling, graphic visualization, and report preparation. No matter what functions implemented in Grapher, like the diverse kinds of 2D/3D graphic wizards, lines/ axes/ symbols tuning, labeling, data fitting, digitizing, zooming,..., use and love it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Data analysis, scientific graphs, behavior modeling.

Benefits: easy to get very high class results.

"Perfect graph software basically for 2D- but also for some 3D-types"

What do you like best?

Very easy and intuitively to learn; extremely wide range of scientific graph types, that can even be arranged in multiple layers making even very complex graphs possible; perfect compatibility with EXCEL and many other file formats (e.g. pictures); very good object manager; enormous variety of attributes; and, and, and....just perfect.

That's why my scientific work is inseparably linked with GRAPHER since about 30 years.

What do you dislike?

The menu structure based on the ribbon technology introduced with GRAPHER 10. Before the menu items were more logically arranged providing a better intuitive menu control with small icons in many customizable toolbars and buttons. Now there's only one 'quick access toolbar' for depositing icons leading to a unstructured icon stack.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Just try it and you'll be excited, GRAPHER is really a great software!

Especially the support of this extremely competent and always very kind and fast answering team the is the best you can imagine.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

For explaining (scientific) data their graphic representation is indispensable. GRAPHER was always and is still the means of choice for realizing perfect graphs.

"An ultimate graphing/plotting package "

What do you like best?

Nearly unlimited editing capabilities for text, objects, lines, ability to digitize data from hand-prepared figures, ability to import/insert pictures (e.g., jpg tiff files) into plots. Flexibility in figure sizes, figure locations (side by side, one on top of the other).

What do you dislike?

I can't think of anything significant. The "Export" feature (Export a grapher file to other formats) sometimes results in gigantic file sizes for no apparent reason (not apparent to the user). For example, converting a 200kB grf file to an eps file of the same visual quality will often result in a file size of 68 MB. Although the export feature is a very valuable option, I only use it when absolutely necessary since such file sizes cannot practically be used for any purpose.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would most strongly recommend Grapher to anyone who regularly needs to produce high-quality technical graphs, plots, maps, etc. As a university professor, I totally rely on Grapher for my course notes, journal papers, reports, conference presentations etc. I have used Grapher since it was offered under DOS, since the early 90s, and then moving on to Grapher 2 and all subsequent versions. I first used it as a student and then as a university professor. In addition to extensive graphing capabilities, one can also create drawings (flowsheets, block diagrams, chemical formulae), import pictures into figures/graphs, etc. If one wanted to, Grapher can also be used to type an entire research thesis since the text editing capabilities of Grapher are highly advanced. I also often use Grapher to digitize old figures that are not available in digital format (pdf). One can scan a figure as a jpg file, and then import the jpg file into Grapher, and digitize it. I had people approach me after presentations at conferences to ask me what software I used to prepare my graphs. The software is generally very intuitive so navigating through different tabs, object properties, etc., becomes a simple process.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I use Grapher to create plots and figures for my course notes, journal papers, conference presentations, reports, etc. I actually also use it as a drawing tool for schematics, flowsheets, block diagrams, etc. since the drawing capabilities of the program are fairly advanced. I even used Grapher to produce structural formulae of complex organic molecules. Overall, this is a perfect package that allows me to present not just data but also a range of extra information using options for text, objects, drawings, symbols, imported pictures, etc. The benefits are obvious: some of the most visually appealing technical figures that can be produced today using a single piece of software.

"An excellent product for visualizing your data"

What do you like best?

I am using Grapher mostly for academia related studies and I am very happy with it. It's very flexible and provides lots of graphic types which can not be drawn with Excel or other similar tools. It is possible to combine some graphic types and possible to add or change other data to a previously created chart. It also provides lots of import and export options including jpeg, eps and pdf. In addition to charts, there are some statistic tools which are very convenient to use.

It's very easy to use, and when you learn how to use it (which is very easy by the way) you can continue to use it for newer versions. As a PhD student and an engineer working in industry it' became my everyday tool for visualizing data.

What do you dislike?

Pie charts must be improved. Also more worksheet operations could be better. If you need to import some basic data, import tool can do it very easily however if you need a complex and custom formatted data it could not handle it sometimes. Even though the price for students is low, normal licence fee is very high.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I'ts very easy to learn and use, provides nearly all graphic styles. The only missing graphic type is pie charts (It's actually there but requires lots of improvements).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am using it mostly for academic purposes, drawing machine related parameters to the charts. Able to customizing your graphic and adding more layers to it is very convenient and can not be done on spreadsheet applications.

"Grapher facilitates ease of making professional graphs quickly"

What do you like best?

Ease of of making date-time graphs reading the excel date.

The piper diagram is wonderful and wished we had it five years ago.

I like how all components of the graph is flexible.

The scripting option to produce graphs in mass is very useful and saves a time.

What do you dislike?

Need to have the ability to control significant digits for trend lines and associated stats.

I wish Grapher allowed the ability to click /hoover on a plot data point and the data point value shows. Yes, you can add labels to the plot, but if the plot has lots of data points than this impractical as all the labels are on top of each other and will cover up other data points. Excel graphs have this ability but not Grapher. Please Add it!

Showing complex data to non-science orientated audience. Need to better automate making graphs

"The best solution for graphs "

What do you like best?

The easy way to create graphs from very big data sets. My graphs are very attractive to another people. It have many options (sometimes too much), so I can make graphs as I want. Many different type of charts.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes program have too much options and find the right take too much time. If developers make batter interface to handle with all of this options, program will be better, and easiest to use.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Read documentation, because very usefull options is hidden

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Grapher Review"

What do you like best?

Very customizable! It is easy to change seemingly simple things that are actually very difficult to change in Excel. Also, the templates make creating repeatable graphs a breeze.

What do you dislike?

It can be somewhat of a hassle to move and edit lines and other figure additions on a plot. I would like to see the lines, arrows, etc. move/scale with the graph. I would like to have a default font style option so that I do not have to continue to change styles when adding headings.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Take time to learn the intricacies of the program. Some things are not obvious right away, but once you find them the program is excellent!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I use Grapher for my Master's research. The most prolific benefit is that it creates very professional plots quickly and easily.

"Nice and Easy"

What do you like best?

With Grapher it is very easy and quick to make nice, elegant and high quality scientific graphs. There are plenty of fitting options, and you can put your own as well. Real histograms and ternay plots are other differentials.

What do you dislike?

I really like this software, I use it since the DOS times. If I MUST do assign something I'm not so confortable, I would say that is when using with small monitor.

Recommendations to others considering the product

There are a bunch of ways to put dots on a plot, but if you want a 2D or 3D scatter plot, sufrace, maps, you can do it with precision with Grapher.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With grapher you can "graph" anything, from maps to data. What really like, as I said, is that you construct real scientific plots.

"Best graphing program I've ever used (since 1998)"

What do you like best?

The flexibility of the software in producing different types of graphs, and the flexibility of the software in setting up the appearance of the graphs concerned.

What do you dislike?

The only lack I've ever found in Grapher is the inability to set up spatial x-y graphs of data and not being able to make analog measurements of the resulting array.

"Mapviewer allows me to make graphics in minutes!"

What do you like best?

I really like the speed of the software and how easy it is to make a graphic. The interface is very intuitive and easy to use. The documentation of the software is very complete: the PDF manual is excellent and the help of Grapher also. I would like to include examples made by users.

What do you dislike?

"Been using Grapher for over 20 years"

What do you like best?

How easily it links to XLS files, and when those files are updated, that Grapher figures instantly change when you reopen

What do you dislike?

Can't save to an older version of Grapher. (e.g. with Grapher 12, I can't save a file, that a Grapher 8 user can open)

Recommendations to others considering the product

Works well with Excel. Similar interface to Surfer.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Very useful when creating large numbers of figures, with consistent margins, boundaries, axes, etc.

Some mainstream spreadsheet software are a nightmare to create a PDF set of figures, without elements on each page jumping all over the place.

"Great software for creating graphs"

What do you like best?

I very much like the versatility of the software, that I have the freedom to change/modify almost anything I want according to my wishes. I also like the fact that can easly handle large amounts of data (thounds of rows as raw data handled without any problems). Also, the fact the you can export in almost any format and my favorite is pdf vector.

What do you dislike?

The fact that the raw data, imported in grapher from an excel file, once lost you lose the whole graps. I would prefer to only carry one file, i.e. grapher and not having to care about the excel file.

"Grapher - A step up from excel"

What do you like best?

Grapher has the necessary tools to create report quality graphs. It is more flexible than a simple tool such as excel and can incorporate scripting to automate graph/figure generation. When used properly grapher can result in significant time savings and a professional looking product.

What do you dislike?

Grapher becomes cumbersome when linked to a large number of files when opening and saving. There have been some limitations on right hand justifying text which is a minor irritation when creating figure title blocks. The learning curve for grapher is also steeper when compared to something like excel, how it less complicated than using a programming language such as R to generate graphs.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you're looking for a more powerful tool than excel to generate graphs, but still want something with a a reasonable user interface grapher is a tool worth considering.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Creating report quality figures and graphs to present data to clients. It is faster to update and more flexible than excel which leads to a more professional product which is often faster to create than using a tool such as excel.

"Mixed Review"

What do you like best?

Plenty of options to get the perfect graph.

What do you dislike?

Over-elaborate platform, non-intuitive. The full story is in the next box which should have been the first box. I hate writing in boxes on surveys and grant applications. I don't like the lack of formatting and I don't like having to follow your agenda. You should just ask for opinions in a free-form submission and then pick out the likes and dislikes with proper context.

So, I dislike the format of this questionaire :-)

Recommendations to others considering the product

Read my review :-)

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am an academic and I use Grapher for my journal papers and reports. So, I use Grapher for publishing my research. Given time and effort, I can get superb complex graphs. This is commendable but I have major issues with Grapher 10 that I use (and probably the later versions).

Even after using Grapher 10 extensively and leaving it alone for several months, I have to re-learn all the little non-intuitive details of how it works. I do not want to take tutorials. I expect graphing to be simple and intuitive. So, I now tend to use Excel 2010.

In the past, I used to use early versions of Grapher in preference to Excel. I even used to laugh at how silly and non-intuitive Excel was compared with Grapher. But then, later versions of Grapher became worse than Excel and it keeps changing for no apparent reason (except to con us into buying a new version).

Excel, on the other hand, seems to have stayed mostly the same. I had to use Excel to modify student graphs (because they all use Excel) and when using Excel spreadsheets it is dead easy to plot Excel graphs. As I get better at Excel's fiddly presentation details, I have less reason for using Grapher 10. I can see no reason to buy Grapher 13 and would only now use Grapher 10 for special graph-intensive papers or reports.

You have allowed your software developers to ruin the main feature of early Grapher which was easy to use and had an intuitive approach. This is hugh, huge mistake. Grapher needs a much simpler interface with intuitive menus in nice drop down menus. You should abandon your own spreadsheet and just build Grapher to easily use the latest Microsoft Excel. worksheet. It is true that the early version did not allow an Excel spreadsheet and so I had to copy data from Excel to your spreadsheet and put up with its many limitations. But then Grapher was fairly intuitive and it was worth it. However, when using Grapher 10, I never considered using your spreadsheet and always use an Exel spreadsheet but it is a fiddle to set up.

So, all this is very much an opinion related to my experience. If I had a broader set of needs for graphing, my opinions might change a little but you will have to decide how much they would be likely to change. You may think that it is on the wrong track but consider this, the students I teach use Excel graphing almost exclusively and, like me, have little patience for non-intuitive formatting and even have trouble with Excel (which is why I had to learn more about Excel graphing to polish up their efforts).

I recommend setting up a software development team and have them start with Excel graphing and improve it (much fiddling still occurs in Excel graphing). Call it ÔÇťGRAPHER BASICÔÇŁ and watch it out-sell Grapher 13 (or whatever is the latest version) once it gets going (even though it might cost more). And don't ever make any major changes and don't offer new versions, upgrade it for free.

PS. I am away from my main computer (don't like data in the cloud) and don't have a current graph to show in the screenshot below. However, I did use Grapher 10 in the following paper Medley JB (2016) Can physical joint simulators be used to anticipate clinical wear problems of new joint replacement implants prior to market release? IMechE, pt H, J of Eng in Med, 230, 5, 347-358 and I even mentioned Golden Software in the Acknowledgements.

"Simple-Easy to use-Professional looking Graphics"

What do you like best?

I like to use Grapher when generating plot in which i will need to blow out a specific area for more detail. Grapher does that impeccably while you get to maintain the overall clean appearance. I also recently discovered that the polynomial fit in Grapher goes to the power of 10, which in my case was very much needed for better statistics. Additionally, you get to export the statistic report in a word (docsx) format which is easy to access afterwards.

What do you dislike?

Bar charts are a little more difficult for me to use in grapher then they are in excel. if you figure it out though, the graph will look more professional as you get to modify fonts type, size, for the axis and graph title in grapher. You can also use superscript and subscripts in the axis and graph titles which excel does not let you do.

I have not dabbled in the use of grapher for business.

"Grapher Review - Environmental Science Applications"

What do you like best?

Grapher offers excellent ability to access and display various data sources. It also provides some of the best and most intuitive statistical analyses and display options for my applications. I started with this program (and Surfer) during my early doctoral work when it was first released back in the 1980's. Over the last 30 years, I've tried various other scientific analyses and graphing packages. Grapher consistently provided the best combination of ease of use and sophisticated graphical display.

What do you dislike?

The ability to customize graphics designs is excellent, but periodically entails a lot of time to get the style consistent across all elements. It would be useful to be able to change the style, font, size, etc... of all features at once, or have a recommended design implemented automatically through AI or even set templates.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Try it first - thoroughly. The product is excellent, but you should convince yourself of it before procurement.

No Mac support :(

I have not used Grapher in a couple of years except to fire up an old windows computer that still has the software installed. Am struggling and swearing at Excel instead, since this is what I have on my mac.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Not business - science. We are working on creating carbon-based fuels formed by using solar energy. Basically renewable, high energy density fuels for transportation. Plotting multiple data sets with multiple axes, log, semi-log, various plot styles, etc.

What do you like best?

In its latest version, GRAPHER has combined most of the absolute necessary graphic types you will ever need to represent the results of your data. The price is right.

What do you dislike?

I do not dislike anything, but I must recognize that it takes a little time to get used to reformating and tinkering with the new graphics.

You will not get anything better for this price. I would also like to add the excellent customer service they offer.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Stable and consistent"

What do you like best?

I've used this product in a couple different corporate environments and its always shown stability and strong performance. Tends to be easily customizable for a variety of different purposes and tools. It can and will support a high volume of information at once which is very useful for large scale site operations.

What do you dislike?

I haven't had much in the way of complaints when it comes to using grapher. Perhaps the ability to more easily deeper dive into metric segments or the information backend would be nice, but this may even be already possible and just not utilized from my perspective.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Highly malleable to each companies needs, can handle high volume very well.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The ability to measure and monitor an entire online businesses performance and infrastructure. The ability to find and assess problems before and after they occur is very powerful.

"Casual User"

What do you like best?

I like that, even after its long history dating back to versions for DOS, it is still evolving and being actively supported. Its flexibility and adaptability are impressive!

What do you dislike?

That it still won't import the settings files from the DOS version. Yes, I know I'm an "edge case" but I did quite a few plots with version 1.75 of the DOS version of Grapher. I recreated one of my more important plots in version 1.0 of Grapher for Windows, and for practice, did it again with version 6---otherwise there has been no re-use of my old files.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I no longer to make plots on a routine basis. I updated my copy of Grapher more for reasons of nostalgia than need.

"Great to demonstrate to graduate level decision science students"

What do you like best?

This is a well designed, and intuitive graphics tool that is very useful for data reduction methods. I think the presentation graphics are best in class

What do you dislike?

Unfortunately, at most smaller universities the dramatic cost increases in tuition, fees and IT costs force budget constraints that cannot be sported by our students, therefore, I am forced to demonstrate the power of Grapher in case analysis. The students cannot gain hands on familiarity with this fine tool. The costs and loan requirements have become terribly burdensome for our MBA students and we cannot obtain the number of licenses for our students

Recommendations to others considering the product

"Grapher has been an extremely useful tool for generating publication quality plots of scientific dat"

What do you like best?

Variety of graphs that can be made (line, symbols, classed post, bar charts, wind roses, histograms, etc)

What do you dislike?

You can't ajdust position of text and posted objects by using arrows (like you can in Surfer). This is not a major problem. You can still use the align key, which is a great feature.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Try it. Play around with it and see if it provides everything you need.

What do you like best?

Very flexible and adjustable - easy to understand

What do you dislike?

1) very slow connect / loading of excel Pivot Tables as Worksheet basis for Graphic plots.

Duration is sometime more than 5 Minutes per plot

as example to load the grapher file (e.g. screenshot) take more than 4 minutes!! :-(

2) program crash while using Grapher 13 under Parallel 13 on a Mac!! - therefore the necessity to downgrade to grapher 12 and parallels 12

I like that excel spreadsheets can be uploaded, and the graphs made in excel are easily edited using Grapher. The plots edited within Grapher are of the highest quality, and should be used for professional reports and scientific journals.

What do you dislike?

It can be confusing when starting to use this program. I think that some of the programs within Grapher are not intuitive, but there are many tutorials to help out.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have used Grapher for generating plots for research purposes, and I have noticed that it is very easy to input data from another source (excel, etc.). Previously made plots are generated instantly, and can be edited to fit any format that is required.

What do you like best?

I like how simple and accessible it is. Not as complicated as Igor, and produces good quality graphs.

What do you dislike?

Too complex and counterintuitive for me.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are adept with Excel and gui-based graphics, you will probably like Grapher. I'm not so adept. So after I discovered gnuplut under linux, I was delighted. Gnuplot is simple, text-based, easy to use from the command line, and similar to what I used in the decades past.

"Grapher is perfect!"

What do you like best?

The quality of the results, the ability to copy a graph to a document. When putting multiple data sets into the same graph and wanting to modify them all in the same way (e.g. line width) the "line properties" window comes up as each line graph is chosen.

What do you dislike?

When you put a name in the legend for each data set, it would be very helpful to put that into the line on the object manager list.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Use is straightforward and the many different graphs one can do with it, that it is awesome!

Recommendations to others considering the product

Need to update the scripting capabilities to make it more intuitive and user friendly. It would be great if a GUI was available or a workflow.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Petroleum Engineering problems. I have used Grapher in many professional presentations and blow people away with the graphs I'm able to show trends, forecasts, multiple axes, etc. I especially like to interface Grapher with simulation output and again wish the scripting was easier to use.
