Very easy to set up email campaigns and follow up to both respondents and non-respondents. Email campaign performance is very easy to monitor.
There is no ability to integrate short/abbreviated forms into existing web pages - all forms are pushed via a URL to a separate hosted page. Form styling isn't as intuitive as it could be. Also, the data that you get out of Radius really needs a lot of manipulation. While there is a lot of functionality within Radius, it doesn't have the most easy to use out of the box reports.
You absolutely need a strong super user group on campus and a database administrator who can oversee how everyone uses it. Don't try to use it beyond prospective student communication/management - it can be tempting but it really muddies your ecosystem. Also, make sure that your communications director or manager is working in the system daily - setting up the campaigns (making them work) and creating additional, on the spot content are big requirements for a productl ike this.
We primarily use Radius for Inquiry and Application management and prospective student communication. We have been able to set up a variety of communication/drip campaigns within the tool to segment our audience and increase on-campus visits and the number of applicants.
I've worked with Hobsons products for years and I appreciate that the company is continually innovating. The Intelliworks/Radius platform is no exception. This platform is a dramatic improvement over the previous Hobsons CRM, Connect, which I relied upon for nearly 10 years. We appreciate how flexible this system is with a lot of user control for customization. Hobsons is also adding new functionality regularly to improve the system and give us more tools for our strategic marketing and recruitment efforts.
I'm still getting used to the relational system and having to manipulate data in various modules, but that's true of all relational systems. There are a few extra steps to developing communication plans and targeted emails than I would like, but we're not limited by what the system can do; it's just how we do it.
We're a resource-lean office and need a software solution that automates some of our processes and helps us communicate more regularly and effectively with our prospective students. The Intelliworks/Radius system provides that - automated communication plans, workflows, automated application management, and more.
The ability to customize and create emails using HTML; creating user specific permission profiles; options for filtering contacts and fields to segment populations.
It lacked user-friendliness. The software/program was difficult to navigate and posed challenges when switching from module to module. Often loading times were slow, and would occasionally time out. Features that were available in modules would sometimes not work, or not be available and would cause the entire page to lag or completely time-out. Customer service was not effective and often response times were long or requests would go completely unanswered.
Potential users should consider their organizational needs and compare products before settling on any one. Hobsons is effective in some areas, such as customizability of user permissions. However it lacks many functionalities which could be of detriment to any organization or business' goals.
Hobsons served our needs by allowing us to communicate and maintain interactions and contact with prospective students. We were able to contact our prospects, though not without challenges in navigating the system and maintaining our data.
I like that it enables us to easily communicate with students without having to contact each one individually.
Building a filter is seriously the bane of my existence. I wear multiple hats at my job, so Hobson's is just one of my responsibilities. With the filters, then connecting it to a particular email, then queuing it. There has to be a simpler less time consuming way. Especially, for those of us that aren't in it every day.
You should definitely get some formal training.
The benefits is the reporting mechanism. It enables us to see what students are opening what so we can determine if our subject lines are working.
That we can set up multiple templates to go out to students
The drawback of it being so automated is that not everyone knows what exactly has or has not been communicated.
Depending on how many people will be working on the back end/ administrative side, I would say that this software is incredibly helpful, but to make sure that everyone knows ahead of time what the content is.
We use it as part of our mass communication system for incoming and current students.
I like that it is off premise and that it cleanly gathers all of the information that we are looking.
In our setup we create a separate user name and password than they will use if they are accepted to the university. It creates some support confusion down the road.
We use Hobsons for the application process at our university. It is clean and gathers all of the information we are looking for and integrates into our PeopleSoft system.
