What do you like best?

Power and flexibility to connect to almost any database as well as files.

Can be integrated with a wide variety of other IBM solutions to complete the end-to-end marketing automation capabilities that customers expect

What do you dislike?

Some of the newer integrations are not native within Campaign, but are achieved through the use of IBM provided scripts for integrations.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure you have solid data skills and curious end users in order to get the most out of IBM Campaign. While non-technical users can execute campaigns, it all comes down to how you have configured the software and how your data is structured. Get the basics right and you'll have a great experience with software that is very powerful and very mature.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Customers who have on premise data that they need to leverage for driving outbound campaigns. Inbound Campaign functionality can also be supported by providing inbound channels with next best offers to select from. Inbound real-time capabilities can be bolted on with Interact.

Automation is key strength and as long as required data is available, you are only limited by imagination and channel integration

What do you like best?

- user friendly campaign management platform, especially for business users (covers all steps of a campaign design / starting from planning to reporting)

- directly uses dwh tables (doesn't require any special datamart) which enables a flexible area to the business user and doesn't require a special sql language / knowledge of basic oracle free hand sql language is enough

What do you dislike?

- it's not always easy to manage performance issues (it's totally related to the design details during the implementation for sure)

- it would be great if there is a local support team which will be readyn case of problem, customers should always open some PMRs in order to solve the problems

- cognos is not enough for a professional reporting system

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have implemented sms and email channels. We are using marketing operations, campaign and optimize modules. Those help us to plan, design, archive and apply our contact policy rules to all campaigns.

What do you like best?

I like that the platform was one of the first campaign management platforms and that it has flexibility for different back-end databases.

What do you dislike?

Since IBM Campaign was one of the first marketing automation platforms released, it has had to catch up to newer platforms in terms of features as time goes on. But this has been addressed in subsequent versions of the platform.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure that you have done due diligence as far as gathering your data that is needed for campaigns and connected systems into where it can be used by IBM Campaign. Make sure that you train your admins and power users so that they are well versed in how IBM Campaign works before you move into UAT and go-live. Support is very intelligent and responsive and the documentation on the entire platform is very good.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

IBM Campaign has been very good to implement for companies that have had little to no automation of their marketing campaigns before. Its stability and data flexibility have proven useful for companies that have large databases and data that is stored in different sources.

What do you like best?

easy to use features allow marketers to use data like SQL programmers. It's pretty powerful.

What do you dislike?

long run times. Latest version doesn't "snap" to a grid, making flowchart graphics look mis-aligned.

Recommendations to others considering the product

don't leap to the new Version. I believe my company may be the largest user of this program. I do not think it was adequately tested in the volume needed before it was rolled out company-wide. Some of that may be server capacity on our end, but IBM should have partnered with us for a smoother transition. Instead, I felt like we were testing the new version for them.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

targeting marketing campaign lists: list development and campaign testing. We do not use the scheduling features.

Amazing segmentation tool

What do you like best?

Plethora of utilities available to play with the data - Merge Box, Select Box , audience switch

What do you dislike?

The user interface is a lot out dated and also the speed of tool itself is not that great

Email and Inbound customer segmentation is being achieved using the tools. We have been able to use this as a enterprise segmentation tool for all channels across the marketing orgs

What do you like best?

The application is database agnostic and will work with a number of data sets. It makes segmentation easy and mining large data sets is a breeze. I regularly work with millions of records and can really hone in on my targeted audience in an easy to follow flowchart layout.

What do you dislike?

The user experience is AWFUL! There are regular occurrences where the system will hang or lock up entirely. Menus are inconsistent from screen to screen. The software still has trouble running on modern browsers correctly.

It's a great tool but prepare for growing pains with training and implementation

We execute many campaigns through this software. It is great for filtering large data sets down to a more targeted audience.
