"Informatica Clould "

What do you like best?

Real time tracking of web service callouts and the response from the target system is very helpful to track and monitor

What do you dislike?

The fact that I will have to monitor the flows between SFDC to IOD (Request / Response) and IOD to Siebel (Request / Response) separate from each other doesn't provide the end to end perspective. Though I can make it up by linking those two using the record IDs in Informatica.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Informatica is a very big player in the middleware products and offer a suite of applications to meet your integration requirements. However it is important to understand the limitations especially with respect to the callout time out based on the source and the target systems that you are integrating

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Integrating Salesforce with Siebel ERP to facilitate the flow of CRM data such as Account, Contact other such data . Siebel ERP takes care of the ordering and other back office functions

"Very useful for integrating with cloud platforms and data integrations "

What do you like best?

Informatica Cloud gives lot of flexibility to have one stop tool for data integrations with cloud CRM platforms like Salesforce where the data can be replicated and loaded into target database with batch jobs without any manual intervention. Developing cloud mappings, tasks and scheduling the tasks through task flows are much easier than said. great cloud integration tool indeed.

What do you dislike?

There is no specific thing which I dislike about informatica cloud.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Integrating and replication cloud CRM data which is entered daily by business users and tranforming that data and loading for business reports.

What iPaaS solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Great for simple integrations and replication"

What do you like best?

The ability to replicate tables from one target to another. It takes care of all of the field type creation and adapts to new fields being created on the fly without having to alter the target. Very easy learning curve with a point and click interface. Regular business analysts who are not very technical can setup jobs as needed.

What do you dislike?

No real ability to report on what jobs you have setup or the performance of those jobs (failures, number of records copied, etc.). It is only available within the user interface and you basically have to copy paste it from the browser if you want the information. Don't understand why they don't just make that available as another endpoint. Incremental jobs can run VERY slowly on large table updates. Incremental does not work at ALL for salesforce.com history tables.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Is very good for high volume, low-complexity. Replication is really their sweet spot, especially if working with cloud systems like salesforce.com. Of the ETL, they are good at E and L. There is limited transform capabilities, but if you are really looking to do major tranformation in transit, look at something more complicated like Talend or even Informatica PowerCenter.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Getting data out of various systems such as salesforce.com or ftp and consolidating it into tables in one central database. Having the ability to run data transformation tasks (equivalent of batch jobs in SF or stored procedures in SQL) on a schedule without consuming those resources on the target or source systems.

"After several years with IOD..."

What do you like best?

First, the wizard is easy to use making the learning curve for simple ETL tasks nice

Second, since Informatica is mature there are a good variety of connectors available

Finally, we have driven some fairly complex ETL solutions using only Cloud

What do you dislike?

The wizard, although easy to grasp, is very buggy. Many, many times we've lost work because of a bad page refresh or we click a certain sequence of options the UI didn't like. Very Frustrating.

One can save jobs within an environment but you can't backup your jobs locally, for example download the XML to duplicate or copy jobs around. And the feature to migrate jobs from one environment to another is unreliable and, when successful, only copies portions of the config. Almost always easier to rebuild from scratch. This makes moving from DEV to TEST to PROD difficult and, more important, undermines the QA process.

User community is not as active as one would expect with such a large customer base.

No one I have had experience with uses IOD by itself but always has a team leveraging PowerCenter to do complex work.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Informatica was recently purchased by a private equity firm. The jury is still out as to what impact this will have although it usually does not bode well. If you want to use what everyone else is using, this is your product. If you're looking for a flexible ETL suite, continue your search.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Informatica is a must for any organization that uses salesforce"

What do you like best?

Data replication and sync with salesforce and on premise data.

If you are like many organizations that struggle with integrating with data created in salesforce then Informatica Cloud is a must for you. One of the challenges with integrating is that salesforce is changing all the time, and many of those changes are to objects (tables) that you are trying to integrate with. Informatica Cloud’s ability to dynamically replicate not only the data but the changes to the data schema.

What do you dislike?

Lack of AD security integration for user and data connectors.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are a salesforce client, Informatica Cloud will make your life easier. Although Informatica Cloud is evolving, I would caution anyone considering Informatica Cloud as their main ETL tool. I have used Informatica Cloud successfully with both PowerCenter and Microsoft SSIS. Informatica Cloud’s integration with salesforce makes this a must have tool if only for that purpose, however it does much more.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Data integration with salesforce used to tie up a full resource and always suffered from missing data due the regular changes in salesforce to meet business needs. Today using Informatica Cloud our salesforce integration is fully automated and dynamically in sync with the changes made in salesforce. What used to be one of the most problematic and time consuming process is now one of the most dependable and automated.

We have had so much success with replicating data from salesforce, we are just starting a project that will automate the replication of all of our development, testing and training salesforce sandboxes.

"Great integration platform for both on-premise and cloud apps"

What do you like best?

Ease of use, it is easily scalable and robust in the performance. You can connect to any other systems like SAP, Oracle ERP, MS Dynamics, Sage, ServiceNow, and Workday etc. It has hundreds of connectors. It's enterprise version is really a great upgrade if you want to scale up to your enterprise wide businesses.

What do you dislike?

Perhaps Informatica Cloud can develop a desktop tool to build mappings etc and a connector that can work with the development platform. Also building any customer connector could be challenging if you don't have much experience with the platform.

Recommendations to others considering the product

make sure you have the right connectors you are buying and also make sure you have the right environment to install Informatica Cloud Agent

"Cost Effective Integration Solution for Non-Complex Architecture"

What do you like best?

The ease of implementation. A consultant with basic know how to can integrate legacy systems with multiple applications. We used Informatica Cloud platform with SQL Server as underlying staging layer to integrate ERP System (multi version) housed on Oracle DB with Salesforce CRM (SQL Server) for over 15 Clients Entities. The seamless way in which we could implement it was very appreciable. It's cost effective compared with other effective tools.

What do you dislike?

As compared with the legacy ETL Tools, there are quite a limitations in the functionalities that we can achieve with this cloud based application. The performances of the Tasks which pushes data to the salesforce CRM takes a beating when high volumes of data are involved. We faced issues related to the batch size of the tasks. Reducing the batch size seriously deteriorates the performance of the tasks execution time, increasing the batch size gave too many sql queries issues while load, so had to play around with the batch size to optimize the performance and yet do away with the errors.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Please consider the following pointers for opting for Informatica Cloud

1) Complexity of Integration's

2) Cost Factors of Licensing

3) Cost Factors of Implementation

4) Data Volume

5) Real Time Integration's

6) Parallel Processing Requirement

7) Error Handling Requirement

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The business required integration's of Customer related information of the legacy system with the Salesforce CRM System. It wanted to cover all the EMEA entities where it had it's business. It didn't want to invest heavy in to this system as they were not too sure on the benefits that they could reap out of the implementation. So they opted for a fail safe approach, which is cost effective yet the ultimate objective of the implementation is'nt defeated. Informatica cloud is what the business opted for after the initial beta analysis. The business was content and happy with the end result, as it helped them to mitigate the costs and achieve the integration's seamlessly with lesser implementations cost.

"Greate IPAAS integration platform"

What do you like best?

One of the best Integration tools in the IPAAS space. I was happy to Implement this for Infusionsoft and resolve our point to point integration issues and streamline our business process orchestrations.

What do you dislike?

Informatica lags behind Mulesoft in some areas and API management and discovery is one of them.

Recommendations to others considering the product

none

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

One of the business problems I am trying to solve and lead for our company is reduce point to point integrations, creating single source of truth for data and provide services via creating and Enterprise Service Bus, benefitting the complete organization.

"Best tool for cloud integration"

What do you like best?

Informatica cloud is very user friendly and ease of development for complex cloud based integration solutions. All data integration cloud services(i.e Data Sync, Data Replica, Migration) are designed to provide powerful integration solutions.

Inbuilt connectors for almost all of the cloud services.

Cheaper than other tools like Cast Iron and Relational Junction.

What do you dislike?

Nothing much but My understanding is IC would be a great tool if it could have flexibility for transforming the data like Dell Boomi, which has lot of inbuilt functions for data transformation and it also provides Groovy and Javascript for further manipluation.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would definitely recommend it to other because of ease of use and powerful cloud integration solutions.

"Informatica Cloud"

What do you like best?

The Informatica Cloud is a true enterprise cloud integration suite. Its thin client mapping application provides functionality for your most experienced PowerCenter user as well as Wizard-driven screens for your non-technical business user. The REST API allows for tight integration with corporate portals and/or mobile devices.

What do you dislike?

I'd like to see more of the advanced features of PowerCenter included in the thin client tool (Rank, Union, Java Transformation, etc.). However, these are not the main transformation blocks utilized in a mapping.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would highly recommend Informatica Cloud to any size business. It provides a highly flexible development model as well as cost model.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Reliable Product"

What do you like best?

Informatica is a complex solution that is reliable and worry free. We have multiple systems that require accurate and reliable transfer of data on a daily basis. This information is vital to business, and Informatica took the time to understand our business and design a solution that works. I plan to use informatica for future solutions.

What do you dislike?

I currently don't have a dislike for this product. The service is excellent as well.

Recommendations to others considering the product

"Import, Export, and Mask Salesforce Data in Minutes!"

What do you like best?

Have used Informatica Cloud extensively for data migration from Global org to Domestic org (Salesforce) with ease...Love the application for its easy set up and use options. Was very helpful to automate data integration process from different source(flat files) to Salesforce. The best and cheap way to migrate/integrate data accurately with no experience on the tool. With the Informatica Cloud, companies can unify Salesforce data with the rest of your enterprise and ensure data accuracy, improve business decisions and operations, and derive maximum value from your CRM and force.com investment

What do you dislike?

Not face any issues so far but compared to Informatica Powercenter there are some limitations to data filters and its functionalities. The process took little bit more time when compared DMAMPS and Data loader when dealing with large volume of the data.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Data migration from Salesforce to Salesforce is easier compared to any other tool and Integration made simple using Informatica cloud from any source.

What do you like best?

Salesforce integration it provides is the best part of it.

Also the custom mappings which are available

What do you dislike?

What do you like best?

Recommendations to others considering the product

"2+ years experience integrating on-site systems with Salesforce CRM using Informatica Cloud"

What do you like best?

Ready to use connectors , simplicity of interfaces and excellent support.

What do you dislike?

Lack of elaborate documentation unlike Informatica's enterpise integration solution. Connectors need to be enhanced. Simple features expected from connectors are missing. Better logging and integration with the flagship PowerCenter would be beneficial.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Informatica cloud is extremely beneficial , if the IT department is on a tight budget for purchasing an ETL tool. Also helps if you require a tool based data integration for cloud applications. You might want to re-consider if you have Informatica PowerCenter in your toolkit. Informatica cloud provides far fewer features than PowerCenter for data integration.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Integrating Salesforce CRM with Oracle E-Business suite and the data warehouse. The tool helps you get going right away with minimal training.

What do you like best?

I would say its OK at basic integration...

What do you dislike?

I had two demos of this over a two year period from Informatic. In both cases the demo failed and they couldn't get it to work. But I gave it a test anyway. I would say its pseudo cloud. Essentially you download a large application on the machine that will be doing the integration. You then configure you integration on the internet and the configuration is then saved to the application for running. Any data transformation seemed to need developing scripts to do it and comparing it with the free version of Talend Open studio talend there is just no match. Talend would win hands down.
