Informatica Clould

What do you like best?

Real time tracking of web service callouts and the response from the target system is very helpful to track and monitor

What do you dislike?

The fact that I will have to monitor the flows between SFDC to IOD (Request / Response) and IOD to Siebel (Request / Response) separate from each other doesn't provide the end to end perspective. Though I can make it up by linking those two using the record IDs in Informatica.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Informatica is a very big player in the middleware products and offer a suite of applications to meet your integration requirements. However it is important to understand the limitations especially with respect to the callout time out based on the source and the target systems that you are integrating

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Integrating Salesforce with Siebel ERP to facilitate the flow of CRM data such as Account, Contact other such data . Siebel ERP takes care of the ordering and other back office functions

Very useful for integrating with cloud platforms and data integrations

What do you like best?

Informatica Cloud gives lot of flexibility to have one stop tool for data integrations with cloud CRM platforms like Salesforce where the data can be replicated and loaded into target database with batch jobs without any manual intervention. Developing cloud mappings, tasks and scheduling the tasks through task flows are much easier than said. great cloud integration tool indeed.

What do you dislike?

There is no specific thing which I dislike about informatica cloud.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Integrating and replication cloud CRM data which is entered daily by business users and tranforming that data and loading for business reports.

What iPaaS solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

Great for simple integrations and replication

What do you like best?

The ability to replicate tables from one target to another. It takes care of all of the field type creation and adapts to new fields being created on the fly without having to alter the target. Very easy learning curve with a point and click interface. Regular business analysts who are not very technical can setup jobs as needed.

What do you dislike?

No real ability to report on what jobs you have setup or the performance of those jobs (failures, number of records copied, etc.). It is only available within the user interface and you basically have to copy paste it from the browser if you want the information. Don't understand why they don't just make that available as another endpoint. Incremental jobs can run VERY slowly on large table updates. Incremental does not work at ALL for salesforce.com history tables.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Is very good for high volume, low-complexity. Replication is really their sweet spot, especially if working with cloud systems like salesforce.com. Of the ETL, they are good at E and L. There is limited transform capabilities, but if you are really looking to do major tranformation in transit, look at something more complicated like Talend or even Informatica PowerCenter.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Getting data out of various systems such as salesforce.com or ftp and consolidating it into tables in one central database. Having the ability to run data transformation tasks (equivalent of batch jobs in SF or stored procedures in SQL) on a schedule without consuming those resources on the target or source systems.

After several years with IOD...

What do you like best?

First, the wizard is easy to use making the learning curve for simple ETL tasks nice

Second, since Informatica is mature there are a good variety of connectors available

Finally, we have driven some fairly complex ETL solutions using only Cloud

What do you dislike?

The wizard, although easy to grasp, is very buggy. Many, many times we've lost work because of a bad page refresh or we click a certain sequence of options the UI didn't like. Very Frustrating.

One can save jobs within an environment but you can't backup your jobs locally, for example download the XML to duplicate or copy jobs around. And the feature to migrate jobs from one environment to another is unreliable and, when successful, only copies portions of the config. Almost always easier to rebuild from scratch. This makes moving from DEV to TEST to PROD difficult and, more important, undermines the QA process.

User community is not as active as one would expect with such a large customer base.

No one I have had experience with uses IOD by itself but always has a team leveraging PowerCenter to do complex work.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Informatica was recently purchased by a private equity firm. The jury is still out as to what impact this will have although it usually does not bode well. If you want to use what everyone else is using, this is your product. If you're looking for a flexible ETL suite, continue your search.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

we have driven some fairly complex ETL solutions using only Cloud

Informatica is a must for any organization that uses salesforce

What do you like best?

Data replication and sync with salesforce and on premise data.

If you are like many organizations that struggle with integrating with data created in salesforce then Informatica Cloud is a must for you. One of the challenges with integrating is that salesforce is changing all the time, and many of those changes are to objects (tables) that you are trying to integrate with. Informatica Cloud’s ability to dynamically replicate not only the data but the changes to the data schema.

What do you dislike?

Lack of AD security integration for user and data connectors.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are a salesforce client, Informatica Cloud will make your life easier. Although Informatica Cloud is evolving, I would caution anyone considering Informatica Cloud as their main ETL tool. I have used Informatica Cloud successfully with both PowerCenter and Microsoft SSIS. Informatica Cloud’s integration with salesforce makes this a must have tool if only for that purpose, however it does much more.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Data integration with salesforce used to tie up a full resource and always suffered from missing data due the regular changes in salesforce to meet business needs. Today using Informatica Cloud our salesforce integration is fully automated and dynamically in sync with the changes made in salesforce. What used to be one of the most problematic and time consuming process is now one of the most dependable and automated.

We have had so much success with replicating data from salesforce, we are just starting a project that will automate the replication of all of our development, testing and training salesforce sandboxes.

Business partner of the vendor or vendor's competitor, not included in G2 Crowd scores.

Great integration platform for both on-premise and cloud apps

What do you like best?

Ease of use, it is easily scalable and robust in the performance. You can connect to any other systems like SAP, Oracle ERP, MS Dynamics, Sage, ServiceNow, and Workday etc. It has hundreds of connectors. It's enterprise version is really a great upgrade if you want to scale up to your enterprise wide businesses.

What do you dislike?

Perhaps Informatica Cloud can develop a desktop tool to build mappings etc and a connector that can work with the development platform. Also building any customer connector could be challenging if you don't have much experience with the platform.

Recommendations to others considering the product

make sure you have the right connectors you are buying and also make sure you have the right environment to install Informatica Cloud Agent

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

have a 360 degree view of customers
