"Review de JMP"

What do you like best?

What do you dislike?

Recommendations to others considering the product

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Analizar datos y su respectiva visualización. Además, JMP me resulta muy útil para enseñar a alumnos que no tienen los conocimientos o motivación para comenzar a realizar análisis de datos con R.

"Great For STATS"

What do you like best?

The instructional videos that are available on the website are great, I had no clue what I was doing before I watched them. The videos make the application very user friendly.

What do you dislike?

Not very user friendly initially, but after watching the videos that they provide on their website you get the hang of everything.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would recommend giving this product a chance. Any statical test you can think of can be run. And I could not think of any other program that would be comparable.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Used it for statical analysis. Was able to run multiple different tests (ANOVA, T-test, chi-square etc.) with ease. The graphics were great as well.

What Self-Service Business Intelligence solution do you use?

"Easy for scientific stats, wish it had a better inbuilt graphing function. "

What do you like best?

If you're not an R user and want a point and click stats interface, JMP is easy to use and has a massive array of functions. I find that JMP is almost always the fastest way to get a quick answer for a statistical test, run lots of tests or easily summarize my data.

What do you dislike?

You do tend to end up with a situation where there are hundreds of windows open at once- an inline sequence like R would be appreciated. Also I wish I could do all my graphing in JMP to rather than having to export to a second program, but the flexibility and quality isn't high enough for that.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Individual licenses are very expensive- this is only a good option if you have site or department-wide license. Good for quick stats and the R-averse bioscientist!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

For quick and easy stats, and easy manipulation of small-medium datasets, I would recommend. Great range of analytical options for life sciences type data

"JMP is fairly user friendly"

What do you like best?

JMP has good functionality and the interface is visually appealing and user friendly. The figures that are output from running tests can be altered in order to make them follow the rules of a specific journal or just to make it look the way that you want.

What do you dislike?

There is a bit of discrepancy regarding what some tests are called in other software versus in JMP. When you change parameters in a test and use them calculate a statistic the software does not retain this setting when you next open the save test - it will never back to the default settings. Similar problems occur with changing figures, they will occasionally fail to retain all user-selected changes and thus you will need to redo them and resave - can be a bit of a nuisance.

Recommendations to others considering the product

if you struggle with code-based statistical software this might be easier for you to use. JMP even has little help tips next to every test or parameter you want to run so you can look up what they are and what they mean. There is also fairly good online help pages that give the user more assistance using it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am not using it to solve business problems, I use it to run statistics on my field data in order to present my results in scholarly journals

"Mostly positive, very robust and capable software while still accessible to new users. "

What do you like best?

Variety of statistical tools and functions enables easy and thorough data analysis. Most default settings are part of the norms within our field, so minimal tinkering needed. Easy to find most functions and tools.

What do you dislike?

Software can run slow and is missing options to easily combine data labels/columns. Power users can find limited options for customization and tinkering.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Not the best known of the statistical programs, but great for new and intermediate level users. Would definitely recommend especially if you've been intimidated or struggle with other software.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Complex data analysis and organization.

"Life saver for trends and other data collection/plotting simplifications"

What do you like best?

I like the flexibility which I get in try to play around with how many graph/calculation options I get to play around with my data.

What do you dislike?

The error finding capability for the software isn't very good. It takes a long time for me to find a error because JMP doesn't directly point out to the errors.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Try reading through the manuals and have some basic programming skills. If you are real beginner with programming I would be cautious in jumping into it right away but once you get a hang of it, it is really beneficial.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am using JMP to pull the data for my facilities system from a server and basically plot it over several days to give me trends for levels, flows, pressures etc and thus helps me easily track the health of my system through these indicators.

"Good experience of using JMP in analyzing the probability of failure"

What do you like best?

It is user-friendly as every import and export is easy for users to see and check the results. Large function database is able to use and do not need to code by users themselves. Plots and results are editable to be copied to the local computer and a final report can be generated by itself if requested. It covers most of STAT theories and functions, thus it is perfect to use it for analyzing data in a statistic manner.

What do you dislike?

Neither JMP or JMP pro are not free for users and so a license fee should always be considered when you want to switch to this statistic program. Moreover, figures generated from JMP may need to be edited before putting into a paper draft because of some formatting issues.

Recommendations to others considering the product

JMP is a powerful statistical package most widely used for scientists, engineers and other data explorers worldwide. It is available for both Windows and OSX.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I was using JMP for solving failure probability problems for structural components. It helped to find the relationships between the probability of failure and environmental effects.

"JMP Review"

What do you like best?

I think that JMP is another great software. While my organization does not use the software everyday or very often, when the software is in use it really makes our lives easier. The program is very efficient and allows for a great deal of organization to be in place.

What do you dislike?

I do not like how the software is designed. The program is a bit tricky to get to learn how to use it but when you do begin to learn and understand the software, it becomes more simple. The usage of the software is not done everyday by myself or my colleagues but when we do the it, there are improvements in our overall productivity.

Recommendations to others considering the product

JMP is a great software because it allows for each user to create and grow their own programming. The software is nice because each time you use it, the software begins to pick up your preferences and also can give the user more opportunity for growth within the software and each of the programming details available

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

N/A.. I do not use the software often but the software does allow for a great deal of organization and certainly does help companies that are using data analytics and other forms of information storage.

"Amazing platform for statistical analysis"

What do you like best?

I would not know what I would do without JMP. I analyze all of my raw data through this platform. JMP takes out all the work and gives you your results. And you can analyze even further depending on your statistical background.

What do you dislike?

JMP can be quite difficult to understand if youre a first time user. I recommend inviting Dr. Thomas A. Little to teach your department the basics, as well as more advanced courses if your company can afford it. It helps a lot.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Ability to build DOEs through JMP has greatly impacted my work in a positive way.

"The statisticians side of the "Data Viz" spectrum. "

What do you like best?

I use this hand in hand with things like Tableau/Qlik, but find that people use them interchangeably when in fact they are best suited for different needs. JMP's wheel house is the ability to do heavy heavy statistics almost instantaneously. Much more in depth analysis than you can do with standard viz softwares.

What do you dislike?

On the flip side, their visualizations aren't the most appealing. They did come out with some dashboarding ability in JMP 13, but it's no where near what your Tableau/Qlik's of the world can do.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Consider your audience - novice statisticians may only need something more simple (a la Minitab), but JMP can do a lot more heavy lifting.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Data exploration, forecasting, modeling, etc. Anything from a standard t-test all the way through complicated multivariate models. Couple hard data findings through JMP with a viz package on the backend for the full benefit.

"Great data visualization and statiscal analysis tool"

What do you like best?

User-friendly. Good for running large data sets with no programming background. Many statiscal analyses available.

What do you dislike?

The figures are not publication quality. Can be hard to cusstomize figures. Sometimes the values from SAS and JMP do not agree, even though JMP is based on SAS.

Recommendations to others considering the product

JMP is incredibly user friendly and allows you to import different types of files, including excel. Just make sure you are confident in your choice of statisical test, because many are available.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Analyze data sets for both statistical significance and data visualization. Easy, no stress analysis fast. Better than excel and more approachable than R.

"JMP is a good basic statistics program"

What do you like best?

I like that it is possible to use JMP without learning a programming language. It makes it easy for people that don't have a strong statistical background to perform basic statistical functions.

What do you dislike?

I don't like the fact that it is difficult to program. It would be nice to have the option to program (maybe using SAS) for those users who understand programming languages.

Recommendations to others considering the product

JMP is a great beginning statistics program. The graphs are difficult to edit, so I do not recommend using it for graphing.

"Good modeling capabilities, bad user interface!"

What do you like best?

JMP has a broad range of graphs and analyzes that is can run with your data. The outputs are professional looking and if you are in need of unusual charts, JMP is a good place to go.

What do you dislike?

Entering data is not the most user friendly process and many things are not intuitive, especially when you get into more complex models.

Recommendations to others considering the product
