"Efficient translation"

What do you like best?

One of the best features is it's translation memory. It stores whatever it has translated in the past and uses that for efficient translations in the future. This is quite useful for us since we have a lot of similar contracts with our customers - so the more we use MemoQ, the better it gets in translation for us - both in terms of quality and quickness. We can convert all number-only segments into the target language and also automatically convert catalog-like text into the target language through fragment assembly.

What do you dislike?

I've had issues with words that don't have an English equivalent. But I guess that's a concern with most of the translation tools. Overall the software is a complete translation package.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have to design and customize our contracts for bulk buyers, who are sometimes based out of different countries. This tool has helped in conveying our offerings in the desired language and vice versa. It is faster than other products that we've experimented with.

"Computer aided translation."

What do you like best?

One of the best features is the accessibility and simplicity. There a lot of tutorials with a well laid out manuals both offline and online to help people out. Customer support is marvellous too. Overall the tool is quite easy to use. When prices are compared this tool is a lot cheaper than other similar tools like Trados and many others.

What do you dislike?

It's simple to use but sometimes it could get overwhelming for a user who doesn't have any experience with computer aided tools as it has a lot of in-depth features to get confused. Apart from this UI could be further slightly improved.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I'd recommend this tool, it's simple and effective. One should definitely try it out as it provides a basic free version for more than a month to completely test it out and only if serves the purpose go for the pro version.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Only plain text translation generally leads to results which don't make much sense. In such scenarios there's a need of a tool where human translations of phrases and glossaries could be stored for better efficiency and relevance.

"Clean interface, preview window, relatively intuitive"

What do you like best?

Even though like other translation tools, memoQ splits text into segments and has tags, the very existence of a view pane that allows you to see both the source and target makes it easier on the translator. The program is more intuitive than the other leading brand of translation tool. MemoQ also seems to be becoming more popular among translation companies; just this month I've worked with two companies that said they were moving all of their projects requiring translation tools to MemoQ.

What do you dislike?

There is not too much to complain about, except the fact that segmentation is still a fundamental part of memoQ.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Like other translation tools, this is expensive, but there are significant discounts available if you are currently or formerly a student at certain universities, or if you are a member of Translators without Borders.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am hoping to integrate memoQ into my workflow as more translation companies seem to be requiring this program in their daily work.

"A nice translator for Windows"

What do you like best?

One of the best few features is you can add your own custom glossary which other similar softwares lack. Even when using custom glossaries it checks for correct terminology and provides necessary alerts while maintaining the speed and reliability.

What do you dislike?

It's only available on windows. To make it work on Mac, you have to boot up a virtual machine running windows and then run this software on it which makes it very slow and difficult to use.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It's a quite good tool to have since the free version is available for more than a month, one can easily try it out and then make a decision wether it's worth the money or not.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

This tool is quite compatible with different formats, custom glossaries and tools like autocorrect which makes it the only tool required instead of many. It's flexibility makes it quite easy to use. It in general increases productivity and quality by offering state of the art functionality for translation work.
