Quality center for QA testing

What do you like best?

> We use quality center for tracking our data requests for quality Assurance testing

> We have always applauded the ease of use of this tool while communicating with our team members and updating the changes we make to a cognos report.

What do you dislike?

> HP Quality Center needs to make a more efficient version of the app because we have experienced lag while using this tool over the web

> Search function might get confusing at times

Microfocus Quality Center - A decent test management tool

What do you like best?

An easy to use software to track software bugs and requirements.

Ease of organizing requirements, test cases and issues by projects.

Ability to upload data from Microsoft XL.

Intuitive and good status reports

What do you dislike?

Not very intuitive, needs some learning curve.

Prompts on actions being successful is not very clear, at times does not save!

If you are idol for a while, you get timed out and all changes will be lost.

License cost is very high.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Pretty decent test management tool that could use some UI updates, as well as reduction in licensing costs

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were using manual methods to document and track requirements, bugs, test status. This tool was intended to have more efficiency and reduce time spent on manual tasks.

Good software for defect tracking and requirements

What do you like best?

Seems to be the best software we have used to track defects and implement requirements. Has a long list of features and enables a "one stop shop" for testing, defects, requirements and analytics.

What do you dislike?

Licensing is strict and the software can be glitchy at times. We have had issues with our changes not properly saving when updating an item. Once you get to know the software it can be worked around easily with the proper workflow.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure your organization will need and use all the features it offers. There may be a cheaper alternative if you don't plan on using all the offered features.

Tracking our defects from start to finish. Implementing new features with requirements and creating test plans to QA the software.

HP QC is a great tool to manage testing process. it needs improvements

What do you like best?

the tool offers great organization, document sharing, test scripting features. I use it to write test cases, and it can be shared with my colleagues. they review and update it. Once we start testing, we can update the test cases with the status. It's a great tool if you are just using these features.

What do you dislike?

Though the tool offers a way to organize your test scripts and documents, the UI is very old and there are frequent freezes. This needs to be updated as there are important documents saved in this tool and it would suck to lose those from freezes.

This is a great tool for software development.

It offers easy to use features to manage your scripts and documents.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are building test scripts and plans for new software updates. This tool is the main platform the entire team (300+) use to manage scripts.

Solid bug tracking application with bad work flows and it is not user friendly at all.

What do you like best?

HP ALM or HP Quality Center is a solid bug tracking software which has been around for a while. There are plenty of tutorials and help resources online when you need help.

What do you dislike?

- It doesn't have Kanban agile board. HP Quality Center works more like a water fall model.

- The user interface is not very user friendly. It requires many steps to file defect. The work flows is very bad.

- If you write test plans or create defects then it gets timeout, all of yours works will be gone. We had to re-do the works many time because HP Quality Center sometimes doesn't save our works when it gets timeout.

- HP Quality Center's performance is very bad. Sometimes it just hang and crash. QA would have to wait when loading test plans or linking test cases to test labs.

- HP Quality Center's license is very...very expensive.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Support is very good. The forum is very active in case you need help. However, there are lot of better and cheaper bug tracking tools on the market.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use software to connect truckers and shippers. HP Quality Center help us to keep track of our software defects. The tool has been around for a while and we're confident that it won't go away anytime in the near future.

Best Project Life cycle Management software

What do you like best?

You can keep your business requirements, test cases & defects in QC separated by projects. You can upload data to QC straight from excel. You can pull out report of all the test cases executed along with their latest status with nice graphs and charts. You can do manual as well as automatic testing. Multiple test runs can be performed for the same test case by multiple user at the same time.

What do you dislike?

Initial learning curve is a bit steep. Defects are not linked to test cases and becomes difficult to track.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Its a very nice tool that can hold every thing you need for project work. Excel add in helps in easy upload of data to QC. It gives accurate status for project management owned by HP so the support is also excellent. Most of the big companies uses it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

IT Project Life cycle Management. Benefits realized were in terms of cost saving by reduced effort of manual tracking. Consolidated place for everything related to the project. Accurate reporting of defects during testing and status of test cases executed leading to effective project management.
