"Nintex as the Enterprise Workflow Solution"

What do you like best?

Nintex provides awesome features in all its products like Nintex Forms, Nintex Workflows, NWC and also Nintex App Studio.

Best things we like -

1. Code Less - Drag and drop actions and controls to achieve desired effect. preview the changes immediately.

2. Ease of use - Terms and jargons are pretty easy to understand. Even elderly business clients can create and manage their forms and workflows with minimal support.

3. Connectors - Wow!! SharePoint, Box, DocuSign, One Drive and so many more we are using via Nintex Workflows.

4. Actions - So so so many actions and even you can buy actions as packs for specific services. pay for what you need and not everything.

5. Mobile friendly forms - Responsive forms are device independent and friendly. Access them anywhere.

6. Great Support Team - Every time a Nintex case is raised, the support team has been super prompt and proactive to address the queries.

7. Responsive

8. Reporting - Hawkeye

What do you dislike?

Things we would like Nintex to improve -

1. Loading time of forms

2. Cost is very high (not targeted at small business)

3. Test the features better before making them live.

4. Cannot use Javascript in responsive forms.

Recommendations to others considering the product

1. Try it out. You would definitely love the experience.

2. Best in class workflows and forms.

3. App Studio helps you build apps in clicks for various platforms.

4. NWC is great. Can initiate workflows from external environment. even Webhooks.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

1. Better UI

2. Better workflow management

3. Reporting

4. Actions like User's Profile

5. Connecting to On Premise solutions

6. Connecting to Cloud solutions

7. Integrating with other applications like Box, DocuSign SharePoint etc.

"Nintex is very easy to use and very powerful"

What do you like best?

I like the ability to easily create complex workflows. There are a lot of functions within Nintex Workflow that I would like to test to see how they work and from the Nintex Community I have been able to produce functional workflows with the least amount of steps. I also enjoy the new features that are regularly introduced. The best recent feature is the development mode and the connect feature.

What do you dislike?

The manuals are not very intuitive and I find I have to use google a lot to find out how to do different procedures. Some functionality I would have liked to use is not present and I have had to add steps to counteract this. The Document creation feature is limited to 250 before we have to purchase more. This is a feature that will be greatly used by our company for legal purposes and I would like to see this increased.

Recommendations to others considering the product

This is a very easy to use solution with drag and drop functionality. There is a plethora of functions to use and quite complex workflows can be created. The Nintex Community is quite helpful as well.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Policies and Procedure follow up and approval process, Customer Support services, Incident Reporting are a few of the problems we are using Workflows form. The benefits for customer support and incident reporting allow an email to be sent with the particulars of the form so quick responses can be seen. With Policies and Procedures we can send reminder emails and use an approval process. Processes are being automated which alleviates the manual intervention we have used in the past.

What Business Process Management solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Cloud Based Workflow Management"

What do you like best?

Nintex provides a very simple user interface for building and maintaining workflow. We just shifted from the on-prem offering to the O365 product and for the most part, we enjoy the O365 product overall but there a few things missing from the on-prem product. I believe Nintex is one of the best at workflow design and facilitation. The browser based UI is easy to us and doesn't require additional software to be installed.

What do you dislike?

As mentioned above, there are a few things that are either not present or don't function as well in the O365 product compared to the on-prem product. I think it's just a matter of time before Nintex is able to perfect the cloud based products to perform exactly like on-prem.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have a bunch of different use cases in higher education and with 13 schools, they all like to operate a little differently. We also use workflow in many of the administrative office such as finance (tax, accounts payable, etc.). We are currently building a workflow for Study Abroad that will allow staff, faculty and students to interact and complete the necessary forms required.

"Overall a good product"

What do you like best?

I like the ability to create, edit or delete a workflow without having to use SharePoint Designer. The IDE is easy to use, and it includes actions for all of the common, and not-so-common functions that you would like to find in a workflow product. Workflow constants at a site and site collection level, plus local variables allow you to add flexibility and complexity where required. User Defined Actions expand that flexibility exponentially.

What do you dislike?

I'm not privy to our company's support contract details, so this may be a simple misunderstanding or a matter of a multi-tier support model. But I would like a phone number to call when I have a simple question, or maybe an instant chat feature on their website. The support I receive is always good, in the end. I just wish it was a little faster at times.

Recommendations to others considering the product

A good product for quick custom workflows. There is also a great deal of complexity available if required.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Nintex allows us to roll out simple workflow processing on a very large scale. We have 75+ sites, each with 15 content types, and all of which require a small amount of data processing in a high volume situation. The simplicity of using Nintex allows us to create many similar workflows that can be copied across the sites quickly and easily. Even a complete redesign on this scale is moving along quickly, from the decision point through the deployment.

"Nintex Great Tool"

What do you like best?

Nintex offer a really good Workflow and Form solution for end users where as OOO Sharepoint is more limited.

What do you dislike?

Slowness sometimes and disruptions in the system (Nintex) .. cd

Recommendations to others considering the product

I highly recommend the usage of nintex!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Many we are using Nintex all across the company in AZ. We are getting a lot of benefits for end users and many departments and areas are simplification their processes,. We are thinking on creating a new provisioning by using Nintex as our provisioning engine where we are sure we will be able to save lots of money for the company and the process will be much more simple and quicker for end users. We are also in the process of using Nintex Workflow for Cloud which we are sure it will have a great impact for our users in the company.

Our team will receive cross-training in Nintex administration , they will learn how to use, create and administrate workflows, create and design forms because we are helping users to simplify their processes so they can better achieve their goals.

"Nintex WF is incredible!"

What do you like best?

I love how easy it is to quickly get a solution up and running! I can demo a working solution to a group in a matter of minutes rather than weeks or months with custom coded solutions. The drag and drop interface allows me to teach others how to use it and enable other areas of the business to create their own workflows, thus engaging them throughout the process.

What do you dislike?

Some of the error handling is cryptic. This can cause us to waste time pinpointing exactly what went wrong. We generally put in "Log history" actions and then dump variables out to that, which forces us to run the workflow knowing that it will fail to determine what went wrong. This is a good debugging approach, but if there was a way to "Preview" the workflow somehow it would be awesome!

Recommendations to others considering the product

Do research on "How To" use many of the actions. We spent a lot of time figuring out what actions are best suited for different processes and what their capabilities are. I spend a lot of time on their community site learning from other users mistakes and helping them understand their issues so that when we face the same ones, we know what to do!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are using the workflow platform for task automation and approval, internal data lookups to populate out to lists, and even internal site creation automation. We have streamlined different processes that were very paper driven and opened up channels to communicate and track changes to requests and tasks, thus giving more visibility to executives.

"Nintex Forms and Workflows Review"

What do you like best?

I really like the level of customization you can bring to SharePoint forms. Nothing else beats Nintex forms in that area. I believe that the forms could use a bit more work to improve panel behavior and rules (such as when you have a rule error, rather than not rendering the form entirely, provide you with details about the offending code). But again from a customization standpoint it really is leaps and bounds over out of the box SharePoint and/or other vendor solutions.

What do you dislike?

Would like more transparency when errors occur, both on the front end in forms and on the backend with workflows.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are more agile and able to deliver solutions with a high degree of customization that would previously require oodles of JavaScript (JSOM, REST and classic JS) to resolve inflexibility issues with SharePoint forms or to implement rules. Workflows also provided room for documentation thus allowing developers to quickly understand what another develop had done prior when picking to enhance and existing product.

"Easy way to automate your business process"

What do you like best?

Nintex provide a lot of functionalities that allow to a anyone users automate their process, no matter if you are an advanced user or common user, the interface is very intuitive and actions can be set for your needs. I had automate around sixty process without any advanced experience using workflow automation platforms. Also provide Nintex Live, a good way to capture information for users out of the company.

What do you dislike?

At first I was needing more actions to handle and generate documents, however this functionalty was release for all platforms and now I'm very happy using this functionalty in my process.

Recommendations to others considering the product

NIntex is the easy way to start to automate your business process, the best it's now is multiplatform, (Nintex Cloud).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Now we are capable to measure our process, before that, this measure was very hard to complete because we didn't have data to make it, now with we have available a lot of process data and we are makings insights with this data.

"Overall a good product but room for improvement"

What do you like best?

It's quick and easy to create SharePoint workflows with Nintex. The form editor is powerful.Overall a good addition to SharePoint 2013

What do you dislike?

Editing workflow components in UI is tedious. Especially if you have edit a Task form embedded in a Flexi-task. It's SAVE, SAVE, Publish. It gets old quick if you have multiple tasks to update.

Editing email message formatting in the UI is fiddly and hard to control. You often end up with unexpected results. Very time consuming to go back and adjust.

Errors in Form Rules result in Blank page; No errors or warnings. The Nintex Form simply doesn't render and you're left to figure out what went wrong.

Updating the Nintex Workflow solution on SharePoint is problematic. Often the Nintex Install gets stuck waiting for SharePoint... The Install will happily loop indefinitely without failing. Very frustrating.

Nintex Workflows are very difficult to troubleshoot, Adding logging statements and decomposing into separate workflow is about the extent of native debugging support.

Nintex support is very slow to respond to tickets - even for Premium support customers - Ref ticket 00208695. Sent email on 3/26 to support, no reply and I have follow up with them again on 4/03 only to find out the agent assigned to my case is not available.

No Nintex Workflow support for copying attachments between dissimilar document libraries. You end up having to resort to SharePoint REST calls. Why ?

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Document Approval Workflows. It's allowed us to do things we wouldn't have been able to do with the Out of the Box SharePoint workflows.

"Outstanding platform for business process automation in the cloud and on-premise"

What do you like best?

Nintex enables both IT and business users to create, publish and manage workflow using simple drag and drop interfaces within Office 365. The forms design process is easy and powerful with rules and many controls which replicate out to mobile platforms in a single publishing process.

What do you dislike?

The forms designer can be slightly fiddly to work with, particularly on more complex forms but the roadmap for this area of the technology is pulling heavily on more up to date interfaces to make response forms as simple to build as the other areas of the workflow platform.

Recommendations to others considering the product

The work that Nintex are doing on the Workflow Platform is remarkable and brings whole new opportunities to organisations looking to deploy powerful workflow and mobile forms solution.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We work with Nintex to address workflow and mobile app requirements across all areas of customers' organisations. HR is a common area for leave, new starters, recruitment, performance reviews and many more to be automated. Nintex is particularly strong at enabling the mobile workforce where tasks or details needs to capture on mobile devices and handled through workflow.

"Experience in using Nintex Forms and Workflow"

What do you like best?

Our in-house developer could fulfill user requirements most of the time. Nintex has helped us to transform more than 30 paper-based business flow. So far, Nintex has been performing not only as data recorder but as a calculator for us.

What do you dislike?

As I am supervising our in-house developer, I could understand that it is quite hard to get a personalized support or knowledge transfer. We acknowledge that there are a lot of online resources that we can refer to, but sometimes it requires a lot of time to be spent just to find 1 information.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Products features are good and powerful.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have transformed more than 30 paper-based processes. With Nintex products, it helped us in managing records and data. Data visibility is there and human mistake when transferring data also has been minimized.

"Nintex gets it done"

What do you like best?

Nintex is easy to install and fast to learn and get up and running with. The solution integrates perfectly with SharePoint creating a nice cohesive solution that gets us up and automating processes with right away. The business likes the speed at which we can deliver solutions for.

What do you dislike?

Does not scale well for large projects. Since it is so tightly integrated with SharePoint, we cannot move Nintex with solutions built that have outgrown the recommended SharePoint list size. The Nintex workflow history lists slow down our SharePoint farm and search indexing. Nintex runs on our web front end servers which slows down our SharePoint farm.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If moving to the cloud, their pricing model is insane for cloud applications. As such we are having to re-do our Nintex workflows with SharePoint OOTB workflows in order to migrate them as the Nintex cost on the cloud is prohibitive.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use Nintex to automate many business processes that were once paper based. This has drastically improved our companies bottom line.

"Excellent forms and workflow product for fast deployment of solutions"

What do you like best?

User interface enables building forms and workflows quickly to address business problems. There is a good range of actions available for interacting with internal and external systems. The ability to publish to the Nintex Mobile platform easily is great.

What do you dislike?

Some disparity between the product streams at the moment (on-prem vs 365 vs NWC) but this is currently in the process of being bought together as I understand it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Nintex allows us to develop and deploy workflow and forms solutions quickly. The ability to deploy forms to the mobiles of our users without any extra effort is a large bonus. We're using NIntex to help run our Incident and Hazard Reporting, our helpdesk, build Sharepoint document libraries, manage expense claims, and more.

"Nintex Workflow Platform "

What do you like best?

Nintex Workflow Platform is the leading Workflow engine to work with on SharePoint Environment, in the most simple word " it will make your work even easer" it turn your work to a new level of enjoyment and pleasure to work with workflows and automate processes.

What do you dislike?

updating process Is slow, in my opinion Nintex need to adopt a new way of updating their software to include Users in the updating process.

In other words Nintex needs to involve the end users to share their valuable custom and compound actions with other users.

I know it`s not an easy task but it grantee end user passion works and creativity.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Manly we are using Nintex workflow to automate our processes, At our company we have a lot of departments that their most work are paper based and we need to revamp this using our SharePoint capabilities and Nontax workflow.

"Nintext works great for my needs."

What do you like best?

Works great, few config issues here and there, some bugs. Found workarounds, had support help us until it was fixed, or a patch fixed it.

What do you dislike?

Found a few bugs when working with the platform that affected ease of use, not a deal breaker, just minor annoyances.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I started from the ground up from Nintex but a great deal of my background deals with scripting and automation as an admin. I have used Nintex, MS PowerApps, and MS Flow as a basis for workflows and automation. Nintex is hands down better than the current MS suite for SharePoint integration.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Mainly speeding up mundane tasks by creating workflow process that allow for faster approval and automating repetitive tasks.

"Nintex for SharePoint"

What do you like best?

Our organization has used Nintex Workflow for Sharepoint for many years. It allows us to use it for everything – from basic functions to highly customizable processes. The interface allows for quick development of entire workflows.

The ability to schedule workflows is extremely useful. It allows to create processes to be repeated at scheduled times. Another leading feature is the delegation feature. This allows our users to delegate a task or a series of tests to another user during a single occurrence or a schedule absence. The user is in complete control of their delegations.

The software is very stable and we rarely need support but in those few instances that we do, we always receive excellent support and guidance. There are a number of features that are extremely useful.

Excellent product with excellent support staff!!!

What do you dislike?

I have been using the product for our organization for many years now, and I cannot think of anything that we do not like about this product. As you learn how to use the product well, everything can be accomplished well with it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our organization often has many often has many approval steps and this allows our users to efficiently track the status of their items and where they are in the approval process.

"Used for the first time 8 years ago, even more today !"

What do you like best?

Speed of setting up an application. In less than 1 day, we are able to start and dematerialize a process.

In our company, we have implemented more than 50 processes.

Nintex can connect to several external Platform and call Webservice (so any kind of Platform !).

What do you dislike?

More information about error / logging. With last versions, we can use the console to monitor all processes.

It would be interesting to display more info for developer/

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you want to optimize development time and ROI, do not hesitate ! Nintex is the right solution

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have dematerialize all kind of internal processes, like annual employee review, purchase order, HR meeting, room reservation, and so on !

We also have implemented the generation of Word document, based on a SharePoint list.

The main feature that is used during all the day (and night), is the "lazy approval" feature, allowing to manager / user to approve / reject a process.

"SharePoint Lead"

What do you like best?

Being able to make SQL query directly from Nintex workflow. This is great addition to out of the box SP workflow features. Also the ability to export and import workflows. We can even save the exported file into our svn as a release copy so that we can refer to in a later stage when we need to

"Since moving from ONPREM to ONLINE it's been a BAD experierence"

What do you like best?

There is nothing wonderful about ONLINE or to like. It's over complicated and many of the great ONPREM actions are gone. Half the new actions have more bugs in them. Many of the useful features from OnPres, such as Email Action FROM have disappeared leaving us without an option..

What do you dislike?

Bugs and issues now being resolved yet "new" features being rolled out. Get the basics working first before pushing out new features. The Online help is next to useless- There is not point restating the name of the field as the type.....you need real examples!

Recommendations to others considering the product

Improve the ONLINE functionality and bring back all the ONLINE actions which was the reason we chose NINTEX in the first place.. Listen to the customers and act on their requests..

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It is now taking us more time and money in developing new Forms and Workflows ONLINE. If I had a choice, I would return to ONPREM. Our users are complaining because of the slowness in loading forms and the isses we have with EMAIL Actions. (formatting)

"Please delete my review. I don't see why this is a problem..."

What do you like best?

To the reviewer: Please delete this review. I see no problems with my review but I'm being rejected over and over again. I no longer have interest in reviewing the product if you're going to toss my review out... I've answered all the questions, and submitted my validation but for some reason its not registering one of the questions, even though I've answered them all and I see no real issue with my reviews. Your system needs to provide a more detailed reasoning behind rejections so we can know what's wrong with the review.

Please remove the review, and remove my account from your system. I have no desire to do any further product reviews for you. This was a complete waste of my time.

Nintex has a great setup for workflows. It allows for additional features that the default sharepoint workflows do not like looping. While loops, and for each loops make nintex workflows invaluable and far superior to sharepoint designer.

What do you dislike?

There are several limitations like being able to return distinct values in a drop down box for nintex forms. Plus they seem to reserve a lot of very useful key features for the enterprise level package even though they advertise their basic level as enterprise level software and charge enterprise level prices for the basic packages.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you're looking for ways to loop workflow actions. This product will help greatly. There are limitations to the product but a lot of these limitations can be overcome with database manipulation and other areas of changes. Most of my product solutions I've had to customize areas of nintex and sharepoint to work within the boundaries of the product, but it allows for it to work. SharePoint does limit a lot of your processes with list limitations however it can be overcome with SQL integration and database record keeping.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We solve many projects using nintex workflows and forms. Ranging from database cleanup, to database monitoring and basic document library check ins and outs, versioning for code and other basic sites as well.

"Incredibly good product for saving time"

What do you like best?

The best feature of Nintex Workflow is all of the time our school district saves using workflows for approval of requests. From purchase orders to reserving vehicles to ordering supplies, our workflows save our administration and transportation staff many hours with the automation.

What do you dislike?

Nothing, Nintex workflows are easy to set up. The components and actions available that we use with SharePoint make many SharePoint interactions easy and organizationally understandable. We have even started using Nintex forms and workflows with surveys.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are attempting to be as paperless as possible and save time collecting information from our staff. Using the Document Generator available now in Workflows we have saved our district office clerical staff over 150 hours per year. This means no more manual collection of forms and input by 1-2 staff members. We use Workflow to approve field trip requests, bus reservations for field trips, calendaring and budgeting of both.

"Nintex Platform - Forms & Workflow"

What do you like best?

- Easy to use irrespective of on-premise or online

- The workflow editor and rules management are very effective for power users

- Easy to test and customize

- Automate complex workflows

- Custom actions makes it more powerful

What do you dislike?

- Technical Support from Nintex is not effective

- No technology Evangelists

- Upgrade at on-premise is very difficult

Recommendations to others considering the product

MS Flow is offering many features and Nintex is not able to catch up with flow. For e.g. the test feature of Flow is superb and the connectors Flow offers are way ahead of Nintex. Having said this i believe Nintex needs to have better customer support and make customers feel that Nintex is with you. The support needs multiple reminders and not very highly rated when compared to Microsoft.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Almost every type of human workflows with to and fro integration with legacy applications. We use Nintex forms and workflows to build workflows and push the data back to PeopleSoft and other LOB applications using a combination of Azure, Tibco and Apijee platforms. The document generation feature is very powerful and this allows to generate ready to ship documents inlcusing RFP response, Signed contract documents, employment letters etc.

"Wonderful add-on for On-Prem Installation of Sharepoint"

What do you like best?

Canvas design , comments into the workflow, web service intergration, easy to explain to end users, include the sharepoint object model. It has a very short learning curve. One of the most useful feature is the possibility to add comments to single block of the workflow: this functionality is a real fit-for-use feature as you can describe the business logic behind any branch of the workflow. And when you work with a team where several people is writing workflow, you can easily leave information for the other team members.

What do you dislike?

Performance not so good with a large amount of items, debugging not so easy, we need to manually add the log events in order to troubleshoot errors. With large amount of records, if you are using the scheduled workflow, you need to add a 5-mins pause at the beginning. Another aspect that could be improved in the platform is the troubleshooting. We have been obliged to insert several "Log to" block when we found some errors during the real-time execution. I will suggest to introduce an ONLINE DEBUG like with Visual Studio Development. Then you can add breakpoint, move forward looking at the variable status and so on.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be careful with the number of items that you submit to the nintex workflow engine. Try to split the list items in little bulks.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Almost 100 web applications in Document Management area and Record Management Area. We created more than 120 workflow with around 100 forms . We use it as an easy way to replace the event listener without the c# code writing.

"Nintex has helped us digitise our intranet"

What do you like best?

Quick, easy, codeless workflows which allows us to be a lot more Agile. The integration actions allows us to quickly interact with other systems like SAP, SQL databases, Active Directory, etc. The approval actions allow for quick easy setup of workflows that do what is required and ensures the necessary approvals are received.

What do you dislike?

The debugging becomes a bit clunky as the workflow becomes bigger. It is difficult to track variables through the whole process. Once a workflow has started and a person went on leave or are not available for approval, the process does not allow for continuation of workflow. You have to fix the person it goes to and restart the workflow.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you have SharePoint online, consider Nintex Workflow Cloud.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our main focus has been on automating manual or paper processes. We are currently running about 40,000 workflow instances a month on just over 120 workflows. That is a lot of automation. The main workflows are getting and updating data for reports, controlling employee nomination processes and reminders for our performance management system.

"Must have workflow platform"

What do you like best?

I like ease of use, intuitiveness and sharepoint integration and ability to automate and optimize our business processes. Although NIntex includes sample workflows, they do not seem to be available in Office 365 version. The Nintex Workflow designer works directly in SharePoint without the need to install client software to build workflows. This is a huge win as it eliminates client software as well as the IT control and governance required to deploy this software. So this is a big win for everyone from end users to IT.

What do you dislike?

I do not like that there are very few templates available and price is too high especially with subscruption model and limited number of workflows. The previous price model was better. The advanced features need to be more intuitive and would love to see more video tutorials than are currently abvailable.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It is easy for IT to provide solutions to common request for software and applications. I would like to use more workflow automation tools and API librarys to connect to other databases such as oracle

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

forms, workflow and easy to use biz apps. SharePoint has a pretty well equipped workflow engine. Sure, it has its quirks, but it is rather reliable and it’s already there, so why not use it. Nintex leverages the SharePoint workflow engine as well as many other SharePoint objects like Lists and Libraries. This means that by installing Nintex you really don’t need to add any more resources to your farm than what you would to run say Designer workflows.

"Working with Nintex"

What do you like best?

The graphical interface for the workflows is great! I like the My Tasks web part that is generated through SharePoint. Could you also make a My Items web part for the Initiator of a workflow to show them what phase the workflow is currently in?

What do you dislike?

I use a UDA to parse the XML of Repeating Sections. I would love it if this UDA could be an action that is incorporated in action selections. Also, I would like it if Task Reminders could have an improved functionality. Also, I would like to handle 'Parent/Child' list scenerios easier in forms. Such as the ability to bring up a form that includes the top level detail and all of the associated child items.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have created forms that one person can submit for any number of other individuals. From that one form an individual line item is created in another list. Each line item can be approved or rejected instead of giving the status to the whole group. I also use Nintex LIve to generate forms that can be submitted from people outside of our intranet.

"Great extension of native SharePoint functionality with easy to use interface "

What do you like best?

The drag and drop design interface makes it intuitive for novice business users to build complex workflows. Nintex provides some impressive functionality extensions beyond the native SharePoint workflow capabilities. Their customer support is fantastic, helping us to ensure that we can get the most return out of our investment.

What do you dislike?

There are some limitations that appear to be driven by the right integration with SharePoint’s native workflow engine. They offer work arounds to accomplish your objective, but they are occasionally convoluted. When an error occurs, you are forced to restart the workflow from the beginning. This could be very problematic with a multi-step approval workflow. We’ve had to make our workflows more complex to overcome this issue by creating decision branches at each step to skip if it was previously completed.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Watch a few YouTube videos showing how it works and you’ll quickly see the value over native SharePoint.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Nintex has allowed us to automate the provisioning of custom site templates and custom site permissions. It has also enabled business users to automate approval processes with audit trails, eliminating wasteful paperwork.

"Nintex experience"

What do you like best?

The Nintex mobile ability to Work offline and how workflows are synchronized in the form.

What do you dislike?

I dislike the way Nintex forms doesn't allow you to control the sequence for how form data is loaded. This affect load times tremendously, including sql controls. We want more capability with the form, please look at Spark Forms they have good methods and a real competitor.

Also I dislike how Nintex doesn't allow you to control the confirmation box after form submission, it seems universal all the way around. Also how nintex forms splits mobile and list views, it should just be responsive.

Also we should be able to surface sql data as a pop up or interact with it differently across the form.

We should also beable to control what we want printed on a form, so we can setup print views.

The boxes for page breaks are also annoying, and users can identify where the page splits, I think you should define the page size you want it print it on maybe prior too and the form automatically creates page breaks for the developer.

Sometimes control panels leave gaps that is just hard to manage, and also the spacing is so tricky. I wish we could also attach photos outside of mobile mode, so we can do inspections much easier and make comments and mark up the photos. Some people use Surface tablets not everybody uses phones.

We need pagination for case management type work.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Wait until the release in October.

"I like the Nintex workflow platform and it's no one can beat "

What do you like best?

The connection manager and action set are the two major features I liked the best. Now the reuse of workflows make them more efficient and less cost. We reused many workflows using this. Calling sub workflows is also very easy. Also use of workflow forms association to tasks is the game changer.

What do you dislike?

I disliked the feature of Large workflow rendering issue. Once the workflow has hundreds of actions the rendering is a big issue.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We solved many manual complex business processes into a easy workflow based system. We eliminated many existing paper based business process to automated web based apps.

"Ease of use, always looking to update the product, great community, great products"

What do you like best?

We use Nintex Workflow O365 and to say it has been one of the best products we have introduced into the business wouldn't be far from the truth. It can be used in a variety of ways; approvals, reduction in data entry, easy introduction to internet based apps for all users.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes the updates can cause problems with current applications in production environment.

Recommendations to others considering the product

For an out of the box product it is very easy to setup, learn and use. It can be used for a multitude of reasons and uses.

"Good SharePoint based work flow platform, but has its limitations"

What do you like best?

Integration with SharePoint, the ability to quickly build work flows in an established and supported platform. Nice GUI work flow designer.

What do you dislike?

Nintex's documented maximum size for work flow definition files, that is the file used to store their web-form layouts, web form client side validation, and work flow state machine logic is somewhere around 500KB. Basically the size of a 1990 floppy disk. While we exceeded this 10-fold in our environment, this caused performance issues and deployment issues. This limitation is widely known and Nintex may have painted itself into a corner with how they've architected their work flow system.

Nintex's solution to this file size limitation is to break up your work flows into separate work flows which really defeats the ease-of-maintainability and ability to have a single look at a work flow. We found that even the most trivial work flows with 2 web-forms reached the 500KB limit. We also found that garbage isn't always cleaned out of the deployment files. For example, long deleted form attributes or validation still appeared in the raw XML files that were used for deployment.

To deal with the workflow file size limitation, we wrote our own UI and use the Nintex API to manage the work flow state and data.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Decide if you truly need to tie your work flows to SharePoint. Other platforms do not require you to use SharePoint and may be a better option. If you are all-in with SharePoint, Nintex is a good option, but be prepared to large-workflow limitations.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use Nintex to automated human resource personnel transactions, travel requests, and similar processes. We also use the Nintex work flow engine as a back-end only tool to manage our large work flows. Instead of using the Nintex forms, we wrote our own UI and use the Nintex API to manage the work flow state and data.

"Nintex is a powerful tool"

What do you like best?

Within SharePoint, it is extremely easy to create simple, flexible workflows to handle repetitive tasks.

What do you dislike?

The more complex the workflow, the longer the time it takes to complete. Sometimes you need to account for lag when one workflow calls a secondary one. This can cause bad data when not planned out.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Every implementation is different. We were pleasantly surprised when we took it for a test run. I feel that is the best recommendation I can give.Try it and see if it fits your business needs.

"Rethinking Automation through desired outcomes"

What do you like best?

Allowing us to rethink HOW we do things, not just create an automated version of a tired process we cling to. Our teams are empowered to create their own solutions, from their own perspective and expertise and not rely on a large project or an IT understanding.

What do you dislike?

Like anything, there are limits, we are proud to say that the excitement in the capability promotes interesting use cases that find these limits. Up to this point there has been limited help from Nintex directly and more pushing us to engage a partner even for small 'get over a hump' items.

Recommendations to others considering the product

"Tim Hare - Nintex Workflow Review"

What do you like best?

I like how simple and quick it is to take an automated process concept and implement it without custom code and other applications.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes the user experience is difficult to work with, especially in the O365 version. At times it's really slow and or cumbersome. It is improving so this is really a minor issue.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would definitely recommend any organization in any industry to take a look at this product to see how it can improve their business processes and aid in their digital transformation initiatives.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

One of the most frequent processes I use with my clients is capital expenditure approval processes. The ability to use the state machine functionality is a huge benefit when navigating the different approval paths and scenario differences such as request thresholds and departmental requirements. This has allowed the clients to significantly streamline the approval timeframe and cut down on man-hours needed for the process.

"Simple To Use System for Complex Processes"

What do you like best?

Easy to understand, drag and drop actions. Words instead of code. A community full of thought out answers for any situation. Great customer support. Automates administrative tasks for specialized professionals so it is especially great for solo or small businesses who don't have a lot of time to deal with those items. Constantly providing updates and new features. Able to generate Word / PDF documentation from SharePoint data, including photos. Great functionality for mobile devices - iPad, iPhone, Android, etc with multiple layouts. Very excited for what's coming up next.

What do you dislike?

Some lack of parity between the O365 product and on-prem product - features as well as terminology / aesthetic, which I understand that they are working on. Lack of workflow history in O365 is a bit upsetting. Sometimes errors can occur which are quite vague.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Go on subscription, try it out for a year, and watch your ROI. You are almost guaranteed to see yourself making back the entire cost plus some, as long as you implement it thoughtfully. If you are doing any kind of a business where your employees go out to the field to gather data, you are losing money by not utilizing this product.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

HUGE time and money savings for users out in the field collecting data, and creating reports. Saving likely up to 3 hrs per day in administrative work for highly paid specialists.

"Nintex workflows give an really easy way to achieve many complicated tasks easily and efficiently"

What do you like best?

Lazy Approval Is the best component I like about Nintex workflows. This action enables user approve the tasks without even have to visit the SharePoint site. Many of the business people found this very useful.

UserprofileLookup function to get user details is also one of the hand component.

What do you dislike?

I dislike the issue that we cannot refer images from the SharePoint site refer within Workflow and requires us to place the images in public faced sites. iPhone compatibility and read comments from Lazy approval.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Going forward this product can be used by the end users to implement their own applications without needing an expert to assist with. Minimal development activity and can be scaled to get greater the efficiency.

"Mostly Positive"

What do you like best?

The learning curve isn't too steep with Nintex. The installation and upgrade, from an Administrators opinion, is simple. There are PowerShell commands to use which helps with automation. There is extensibility via Custom Actions.

What do you dislike?

While the learning curve isn't steep the ease of drag and drop can lead to poor performing workflows. Unfortunately the community at community.nintex.com isn't real robust. Outside of this forum there are scant resources for getting insights into the product that a developer-minded user would need. Nintex should actively pursue the development of communities outside of the Nintex domain and drive users to their community from places like Reddit and Stackoverflow.

It is surprising that I could find only 1 book on Nintex development on Amazon, given the extensibility of the product and its large user base.

We need more than just Vadim's website for deep dives.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Insure that you have at least 1 experienced user of Nintex on your team to insure best practices are followed. The ease of use is good but it can lead to solutions that do not scale well.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use Nintex for invoice processing and the core of this process is a third party solution built on Nintex from a company called Flexi (www.flexi.com). So we kind of had to use Nintex. The benefit is that we were able to get our workflows built and into production quickly.

"Best business process automation development tool"

What do you like best?

Nintex workflow platform is very intuitive and powerful tool. This empowers super users to design and deploy business process automation with limited or no IT support. Tools has large inventory of actions ready to be configured that require no custom coding. It also provides access to webservice interactions, which are highly configurable. You can standardise workflows throughout company by using reusable workflows or creating site collection level UDAs.

This platform is also expandable with plugins from many third party vendors. We use a PDF conversion tool that integrates very nicely with Nintex Workflow and allow us to automate several processes.

What do you dislike?

Lack of tools or dashboard for power users to review Nintex Workflow database. Also, it lack the ability to automatically heal any workflow timeout errors due to system issues.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are looking for a tool that can empower your teams to develop automated process with minimal IT department dependency, this is the best tool for you.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Working witht he forms is easy after some time but complex workflows is not for a new user"

What do you like best?

Form creation is, well awesome. The community is very helpful and usually respond right away on a well known topic or solution.

What do you dislike?

Workflows in general. I can see the usefulness of the workflow engine if you have easy tasks but if you have several complex items like two way sync with multiple repeating tables this takes a lot of time for set up. One way sync is fairly easy. Two way sync can get complicated. Our data is critical to our research and there is no room for error.

It would be preferable to have a better parent-child relationship with in the form.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Ensure that the workflows will meet your requirements before the purchase.

"Great Workflow Platform"

What do you like best?

The thing that I like best about Nintex is the workflow platform. It is flexible and powerful. Nintex Forms is coming into its own but still has a little ways to go to become as powerful as the workflow platform.

What do you dislike?

The think I like least is the lack of training opportunities for Nintex. The training site is weak and the training partners are few and very expensive. An individual who wants to become rapidly proficient on Nintex will pay quite a bit to get there.

Recommendations to others considering the product

What do you like best?

Its a great tool for power users and developers to create customized SharePoint Solutions quickly. I like the ability to integrate your own JavaScript.

What do you dislike?

Errors are pretty vague. The Workflow History clean process. I would like to see a better OOTB solution for updating a form then approving it in a single action rather than going to the form to update then going to the task form to approve etc. An easy way to send the entire form as an email attachment for the approver to see form their mobile phone without logging into the system.

"Somewhat satisfied"

What do you like best?

Professional looking forms, responsive forms for processes that do not need exposed externally, and we were able to train "power users" in the hand-off of the tools the dev team built.

What do you dislike?

We are unable to expose responsive forms to external users. This feature was in the Nintex product roadmap and influenced our decision to purchase. The feature was not delivered as expected and the business problem we were trying to solve was not solved - leaving our internal customer dissatisfied and a business process still requiring many manual steps.

What do you like best?

It is very easy to make quick document complex approval workflows and do some automated calculations.

Easy permission level changes via workflows

What do you dislike?

Doing complex calculations with nintex is pain in the ass.

Since a quick a=b+c+d will need to be split into separate steps

1. a=b+c

"Easy to Use, Simple Interface for Creating Workflows"

What do you like best?

The Nintex workflow platform has an intuitive, drag-and-drop interface that allows both technically savy users and developers quickly create custom workflows. The options to save a workflow as a snippet or a template means you can create a re-usable routine and drop it into new workflows, a real time-saver.

What do you dislike?

There is some complexity involved with troubleshooting workflow errors in an on-premise environment, especially an enterprise farm with multiple servers. Nintex has some good documentation, but it is not always easy to find, and the support could be better.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We support HR and Financial users, primarily. Most workflows involve an approval process, which can involve many levels and various branches, depending on the user actions. "Nintex Workflow is a welcomed enhancement to SharePoint"

What do you like best?

Nintex Workflow really enhances SharePoint. It add some much power for those more complex projects. If your company can afford it, you get to look like a champion to your users.

What do you dislike?

One of the biggest selling points of Nintex was it's SQL controls. We have an issue with the SQL controls not keeping the selection made when editing a form. The only resolution is given by support is it is a known bug. It's very good that they acknowledge it and will be fixing it. But this is one of their primary selling points and it seems that it should be working sooner than later.

"We Couldn't Run SharePoint Without It"

What do you like best?

Nintex Workflow 2010 has been our workhorse for our internal workflows for several years. The drag and drop ability to create the workflow is unmatched. The fact that they provide a queryable database with info that is almost impossible to find in the SharePoint Database is superb.

What do you dislike?

The UI can get buggy and paste a copied code block to a different section. Also, no easy direct link to Oracle, although I got around that using a Linked Server in SQL Server. I query and update Oracle through that from the workflow.

What do you dislike?

I'm using the Nintex version for 365 and cannot believe they did not include the ability to capture individual approvers....this is a software application used for business processes, people have to approve or reject things................AND THERE IS NOT AN OUT OF THE BOX OPTION TO CAPTURE AN INDIVIDUAL APPROVER??? Recommendations to others considering the product

It's a nice tool, the only thing that I do not like at all is that on the 365 version, there is not a way to capture who approved the task without jumping through hoops (aka a work-around). If you need the approver for audit purposes.....good luck.

What do you like best?

The drag-and-drop interface makes workflow design simpler, and easily approachable for no-code development and configuration. The ability to automate business processes provides a huge ROI, and increases the value of using SharePoint for collaboration.

What do you dislike?

The ease of creating a form could be better. However, at the latest Nintex conference (inspireX) it looks like Nintex will be changing this soon. Can't wait for this feature to be rolled out in June timeframe.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are using Nintex to handle master data management and engineering related processes across our North America facilities. We realized it is much easier to set up a Nintex Form and Workflow to gather data instead of creating custom web applications for this. We can now start gathering data quickly instead of waiting on web developers to create a system/process for us.

"Nintex Workflow will transform your organization"

What do you like best?

Nintex Workflow will allow many of the routine business processes in my organization to be simplified and made significantly more efficient. Fewer mistakes, faster competition times, fewer lost and incomplete workflows.

What do you dislike?

The learning curve for many workflows increases somewhat rapidly and dedicated workflow designers are needed.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Start with your most important workflows, the ones that return the greatest value.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I support a heavily bureaucratic organization. We have 100s of forms and workflows for completion, submission, and storage of this information. Nintex improves these processes and saves the organization significant time and money.

"Fills in a lot of gaps and has a lot of potential"

What do you like best?

Nintex Workflow is simple to use having a drag and drop interface allowing you to quickly create and edit workflows. It has a lot of capabilities and it's completely browser-based, so it doesn't require any installations!

What do you dislike?

It does have it's limitations, specifically when you start working with web services, sometimes authentication can be an issue.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Right now we're using Nintex Workflows for document generation by getting information from a SharePoint list. We also use it to update a list according to a value in another list.

"NIntex cannot be used as an enterprise wide solution. The workflows get stuck very often. "

What do you like best?

1. Ease of developing a workflow.

2. Nintex forms allow a lot of functionalities that would otherwise would have required a lot of javascript code.

What do you dislike?

1. Any action that utilises a pause/wait (Pause until, pause, wait for check in etc) get stuck randomly. The work around provided by nintex does not help if expected to be executed very often.

2. The nintex support team do not do a due diligence of a raised ticket and provide random responses which are of no help whatsoever.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Before developing an enterprise level workflow, please read and understand the best practices on improving database level performance .

One of the points NOT highlighted enough is that performance of workflows gets affected on the amount of OOB logging (on adding every action), It is important to "hide" all actions that are not important to be logged.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Nintex provides a no code fast workflow configuration option. It is apt for implementing small business logic like short review / approval workflows

"Code less Helper"

What do you like best?

Simply when we use the Nintex Workflow we no need to write any code so it reduce the stress of the developer and also it reduce the time.

Can easily achieve large application through nintex workflow.

Nintex newly released some new tools app studio for mobile apps, hawkeye for reports, NWC for connection third party applications .

What do you dislike?

In Nintex Workflow we need some more additional connectors like (drop box, salesforce etc..). that would help us to reduce the more time.

When it comes NWC, user looking some extra fields like people picker and fetch the user manager details option in NWC public forms.

Multiple page creation option in NWC public forms.

Slowness: when we open Nintex Workflow or Forms, it taking much time to load the page.

Hwakeye : would help user to add some more information in usage lens and inventory lens like execution time of the workflow with out using beacon action.

App Studio: Need some documents for using app studio.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Nintex has lot of features we can create workflow (codeless), forms, NWC (Nintex workflow cloud), also

Nintex newly released their own reporting tool called hawk eye. using that user's can see their workflow counts and details of Nintex actions also they can watch execution time of their workflow using beacon.

What do you dislike?

Not much to dislike, Nintex Workflow is kept up to date and training session are always available.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Nintex works great with SharePoint and InfoPath. I would recommend looking into purchasing Nintex Forms as there is some functionality that is not available without Nintex Forms.

"Great for Simple Use Cases"

What do you like best?

Nintex is easy for casual users to get started with.

What do you dislike?

The use cases for Nintex (where the product is the right tool for the job) is fairly narrow.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If your use cases are simple, Nintex can work great for you. If they approach the complex, the usefulness of Nintex will diminish with the increase in complexity. Nintex, in most applications, removes the need of a developer's skill set, but outside of the simplest cases it does require special skills (a Nintex expert) and support is lacking for the user looking to do it themselves.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use Nintex primarily for data collection into the SharePoint platform. Nintex has enabled users to easily deploy forms across the organization.

"Nintext makes workflows easier"

What do you like best?

The visual builder for the workflow is a great asset, it allows you to show the workflow to a business unit and have them understand what is going on at a higher level.

The extra options that work above and beyond SP workflows is nice also

What do you dislike?

I dislike that to get an option to edit forms the cost of nintex goes up drastically. We are a small-mid size enterprise and the costs for forms is way out of our reach.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Changing from old paper based business process to new and improved digital processes that cut down on time requirements throughout the whole organization.

"Nintex workflows - Absolutely essential to the Corporate SharePoint environment."

What do you like best?

Nintex workflows provide a huge advantage - The ability to create solutions and address business problems by so easily extending the native SharePoint Platform. Users never ask us about Workflows - they ask us if we can make "ABC" somehow happen "Automatically" when "XYZ" occurs. Nintex Workflows allow me to say "Yes" much more often!.

What do you dislike?

The Pricing model for Nintex Online. My Company has to look at alternatives when we hit O365 because we cannot simply take all of the wonderful workflows we have written over the last two years and throw them into the cloud. Now we have a quota of "X" workflows - and I can only use Nintex for the critical workflows and find some other tool for the non critical workflows....

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have written more than 56 applications over the last two years, varying in complexity and size.

Our solutions have addressed:

Sarbanes Oxley Compliance

Contract Management

Security Certificate and expiration management

Catering requests

OPEX impacts

Services budget planning

Data incident (Brochure error) management

Corporate calendar and events

Employee performance review management

Employee sentiment review

Finance reconciliation audit management

Exit interview management

Fire and security event management

OHS Hazards register system

OHS Chemicals register

Stock adjustment validation management

Policy and Procedure registers

Maintenance Hours Monitoring

Many, Many others.

Our Ability to address and provide solutions for business problems has vastly improved - from many months down to several weeks (from start discussion to model go live). We could NOT have done this without Nintex Workflows (And Nintex Forms)

"Nintex Workflow review"

What do you like best?

Nintex workflow works well within the SharePoint platform. It is easy enough for power users to create their own workflow and forms. It provides powerful workflows that can automate many business processes. Nintex is relatively easy to support and provides significant power for our business community to self-develop many of their own web pages/sites. It is a stable platform and has not caused any outages to our large production platform. Nintex work flow also integrates nicely with Nintex forms.

What do you dislike?

there needs to be better online training options for our end users. Many times our uses get "stuck" and need our assistance when creating custom work flows. A comprehensive online training platform would allow our users to be more self sufficient and not require the support of the internal IT team. The transition to SharePoint online seems to be difficult. The Office 365 licensing seems to be expensive compared to the on-premise version. Sometimes, support has been difficult to engage which has resulted in waiting several days to get answers to our support questions. Troubleshooting a workflow is a cryptic process. Adding "Log history" is a good debugging approach, but if there was a way to "Preview" the workflow somehow it would be awesome!

-> Performance: If it is installed in On-premises version of SharePoint you might have no issues but if it is installed in online/O365 application performance is very slow and would definitely need improvements in performance aspect. If we have an option to restart the workflow at any particular stage, it would be more helpful. I don't think it will scale well for Big projects. Since it is so tightly integrated with SharePoint, we cannot move Nintex with solutions that have outgrown the recommended SharePoint list size. Would be nice if we can increase/decrease the viewing area so that we can see more actions of the workflow. I think adding more features like Reminders can help end users.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It is a good workflow platform. Should definitely consider it among top contenders.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We utilize Nintex workflow as an ad-hoc workflow platform for our enterprise team sites.

"Nintex is easy to use"

What do you like best?

A lot of what I need to do works out of the box, but for those things that I need to find a work-around for there are plenty of suggestions and 'hacks' when I Google, so I'm not finding as many limitations as I thought there were when I first started using 'Online' vs 'OnPrem'.

What do you dislike?

The online version does not hook in with our org structure so I am limited just to direct line managers, I cannot use the online platform for escalating above line managers.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I can see it is very future-proof, not being tied entirely to SharePoint (which is how we use it) so it seems like it will get through the vagaries of Microsoft's decision making about what systems get improved and which ones get the axe.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Mainly we are ridding the office of paper. All of our basic forms like business card requests and even travel requests have moved to Nintex forms which means we always have a copy of them and know exactly where they are, and we don't have paper going around the office. Even some of our more complex forms are filling gaps for our more sophisticated systems that are too expensive to change.

"The best workflow solution out there!"

What do you like best?

Nintex has solved the issues that our users in my organisation were facing while creating automated workflows involving javascript and jquery for UI changes in the emails. When we upgraded to nintext the whole process became so simple. With basically no code knowledge, my business users can create advanced complicated workflow in sharepoints.

What do you dislike?

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you have no developer at hand, Nintex is a product that is a must. It requires no knowledge of the code and gives you the flexibility of modifying the UI and functions of sharepoint workflows and you will realise the plethora of things that can be customised using this in no time and efficient execution.

"My Work with nintex in our clients"

What do you like best?

The best thing about nintex workflow is the ease of creating complex processes and multiple actions between the different steps of a flow, as well as the ability to be able to easily reuse different actions. Clients love to see the flow and how to automate tasks and the different users involved in them, whenever we see complex processes in our projects, we use nintex workflows.

What do you dislike?

The learning curve initially is slow, so it is difficult to learn all the power that can be removed from the platform, once you have worked a while with the platform, the possibilities are endless.

Recommendations to others considering the product

We have studied other platforms, but there is no other as complete as Nintex Workflow, as it has the most features and possibilities, as well as an easy to use interface.

"Workflow is good for basic tasks but not a replacement for application development"

What do you like best?

Simple method to extend basic SharePoint form formatting

What do you dislike?

My comments are related to development using Nintex:

Development environment can be slow to work with (because it's all running in a web browser) compared to other languages/platforms.

Styling the form controls can be challenging and slow, compared to just writing CSS on HTML.

JavaScript editor in development environment is terrible (just a small text box, come on!).

HTML editor for task emails can be infuriating, because it reformats HTML and sometimes even deletes formatting.

Nintex and SharePoint workflow engines operate separately and it's up to the developer to manage timing of services, which is a nightmare, e.g. try working with check-in/check-out in a workflow.

Regex helper, or common functions for collection operations would be great, because Nintex regex doesn't always appear to follow standards.

During development, it would be nice to have a background process that automatically publishes as you make changes.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Consider the true cost of developing and owning a solution across its entire lifecycle: Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, Deployment, Support & Maintenance and you might find that Nintex can only help reduce effort in about 30% of solution's TCO. Of this 30%, Nintex *might* save you 50% over a traditional development platform (e.g. .Net), however, you then need to pay annual Nintex licensing fees, must keep Nintex-trained staff, and your technology is tied to the Nintex framework, so you're less agile. You may also find yourself making design sacrifices to keep within the Nintex way of doing things, or you may find yourself writing custom services or scripts to meet the gaps, which then negates Nintex's value and creates a more cumbersome architecture to support.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Project Management, Document Management, Electronic approvals. Nintex has made it possible for non-developers to developer very basic forms and workflows.

"I am using Nintex from years and i love this tool to provide business automation processes."

What do you like best?

Easy to learn & create complex workflows.

Easy to reuse existing workflows for the new requirement.

Easy to debug workflows,

Easy to import and export.

Graphical view explains the entire flow in one go, you really don't have to follow the requirement document.

What do you dislike?

1- Nintex support team doesn't respond on time. most of the time they refer to the article from Nintex blogs which we have already gone through. I believe that support can be much more better.

2- I still don't have confidence with Nintex DB in case of moving them, so still there is some hidden information or not explained it well. i request Nintex team to write some good articles about Nintex backup and restore and explain multiple scenarios.

Recommendations to others considering the product

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

2- Simple workflow are getting created by business, so they don't have to wait for IT to create their process automate.

3- Time to create workflow is not too much, so business doesn't have to pay much to IT.

4- Reusability is good, so we save our lot of time to not to rewrite the same set of activity.

5- UDA (user define actions) are also a best part of Nintex.

"From simple approval workflows to feature-rich applications"

What do you like best?

- Toolbox actions that allow you to quickly implement Approval processes with automated reminders, escalation, delegation.

- Extensibility: Calling SharePoint REST services, our own custom web-services from the workflows we design.

What do you dislike?

- The fact that Nintex Workflows are dependent on a specific SharePoint version and are not cross-platform.

- Licensing costs on multi-server farms have been a show-stopper for a few clients I have worked with.

- Exporting/Importing the workflows based on xml files vs a more robust/simpler deployment process has always felt lacking for an enterprise-grade tool.

Recommendations to others considering the product

- Verify your system architecture to evaluate the cost of Nintex particularly in a multi-server environment.

- If organization is large enough (1000+employees) and has many paper processes that could potentially be automated, Nintex workflows is likely to pay off for itself.

"automating my work is the best"

What do you like best?

I like how the tools are user friendly for those without much coding experience. If you want to insert a person's name into a nintex workflow email generator, you find the part that is clearly labeled to do so and then drag and drop (mostly). I've built some very useful workflows in nintex that impressed everyone, and I basically learned as I went. the tools are wonderful

What do you dislike?

Sometimes a workflow will look like it's working, but then I'm told it's running like 1000 times in the background and slowing the server down. better diagnosis tools to tell me WHY something isn't working would be helpful other than a simplistic "error occurred" warning.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Fantastic tool for a quick & intuitive workflow solution for our simple use case!"

What do you like best?

The Nintex workflow tool enables simple drag and drop functionality that made it easy for me to build my workflow solution for my company. Additionally, the documentation and knowledge articles on the Nintex website allowed me to learn the different functions rather quickly. Most importantly, the ease of use of the solution made it easy for me to hand-off my workflow to another colleague to own and maintain moving forward.

What do you dislike?

To be honest, there was nothing in particular that I found difficult or lacking enough for me to call out, as this is a simple straightforward workflow tool at the end of the day. I did find the integration with Sharepoint permissions and how that works in conjunction with my workflow a bit confusing, but that is outside of the scope of the Nintex tool and it's solution.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Hit and miss"

What do you like best?

I like the current pricing that the product has for onPrem. I bought license for the farm and users can use the workflow wherever they want in the farm. I don't like the idea of moving to paying for the number actions. The win of this product is that endusers are empowered to make workflow for themselves. Changing the pricing model will mean I need to be concerned more about how workflows are programmed to ensure best value but this development back on the SharePoint team.

What do you dislike?

I have had difficulty getting actions to work as expected. I have also had difficulties with the scheduled workflows not working. The solution being to reinstall which means downtime. This has also had a negative impact on how users are responding to Nintex.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Business process automation and integration with other systems for syncing data into and out of SharePoint. We don't have forms at this time. We are also still 100% onprem. We will eventually be in the O365 but that will be a small footprint because much of our content needs to remain highly secured and confidential.

What do you dislike?

One thing in which nintex workflows are lagging on premise systems is the housekeeping part.

Housekeeping of workflows is not easy for large enterprise customers like us.

"Used multiple versions on several farms for a few companies and each time I'm impressed."

What do you like best?

That it is fully connected to the SharePoint farm, that there was no need for additional servers to build and maintain.

What do you dislike?

I wish that there was a more integrated help/hint/tutorial system to aid in use and creation of workflows. Given that it nests itself within the same servers as SharePoint, it does create an added load on the farm servers, which may tip the performance to the point that additional servers are required, thereby requiring additional servers to license with Nintex and Microsoft.

"Great On-Prem very flaky on Office 365"

What do you like best?

On-Prem Nintex Workflow is very powerful for business process automation and integration with other systems. I have done some big scale projects on it and despite of hitting some limitations I will still say it is much better than custom visual studio workflows.

What do you dislike?

Office 365 Nintex is very unreliable and limited in functionality, I have had issues with configuration, testing and even after deployment. It just stops working after working fine for one month and is a true horror story based on two implementations I did last year,

Recommendations to others considering the product

I highly recommend Nintex platform for SharePoint On-Premises even if you have a hybrid implementation of On-Prem and Office 365. If you have solely Office 365 environment Nintex is far from mature product, it has limited functionalities, gllitches while configuration and poor, unreliable performance.

Nintex Form provide a really fl;exible way of designing forms not only for the desktop users but for the mobile or tablet users as well.

What do you dislike?

O365 - Using it in the cloud. Core functionality. Most of the application just works - and if it doesn't, I know it wasn't because of our on premise environment.

Nintex Support site has some great resources.

What do you dislike?

Nintex Workflow for SharePoint 2010 - For issues in Workflow we weren't sure if it was Nintex causing the issue or our on premise implementation of SharePoint.

O365 - Slow. Limited functionality.

For O365 Forms - very painful having to move objects around to insert a column somewhere in the middle of a form. Can't duplicate a column on a form.

For both - Clunky.

Recommendations to others considering the product

For Nintex I think they need to look an an easier O365 interface and add another offering away from the constraints of SharePoint.

For others: Office 365 is good for developing anytime anywhere but be aware of it's limitations. But in saying that the limitations pushes you to create more solid error free workflows.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Nintex Workflow for SharePoint 2010 - 30 forms created with InfoPath forms and Nintex workflow. The forms have reduced the processing time down significantly.

O365 - Still early days but we have created a modular form using Nintex Forms and Workflow that will account for 50 new forms helping us reduce development time from months to hours.

"NIntex, Workflows and Forms... oh My"

What do you like best?

It is really easy to use. It is also really easy to mess things up on a bigger install.

This I think has more to do with sharepoint and understanding the underpinnings of how sharepoint works and how you need to operate it. Once you have that, I think Nintex rocks.

It makes it incredibly easy to collect and process data and takes care a lot of teh technical implementation that you would have to do to connect to a number of systems.

What do you dislike?

How easy it is :)

Again you do need to know sharepoint to get the most out of Nintex. When something goes wrong in prod it can be a beast to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure you have Sharepoint knowledge in house!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Business process automation and assignment of tasks between the field and the shared service centre

Ability to quickly prototype a process and try it out and iterate using some BA and operations types folks, then engage the dev staff once the business process is nailed.

Able to track and watch work as it moves through the Service centre

"Love the graphical interface and contextual help screens but stability is less than satisfying."

What do you like best?

Graphical interface makes it easy(er) to build workflows. Graphical workflow history (on-prem only) makes it easy to see where workflows are getting stuck and real-time status of business processes. Help screens are very useful in most cases.

What do you dislike?

Workflows fail intermittently and it typically takes extensive review with Nintex Support to find a resolution. The root cause of most problems usually isn't user error but limitations of the tool that aren't intuitive (e.g. when it makes sense to use a pause, how long, etc.). Error messages are also sometimes uninformative or get cut off before the useful part would appear.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be aware that if you're moving from on-prem to online, there may be some compromises in available functionality. This is largely due to the fact that Nintex is more limited in what they can do in the cloud, where Microsoft control the technology and data, than on-prem, where the customer controls the technology and data. However, in general, using Nintex makes it a lot easier to build and maintain workflows that do what you want them to than do native SharePoint tools (e.g. SharePoint Designer) or custom code.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Primarily approvals of different types of activities and requests. We have helped a lot of customers come closer to automation on processes while allowing them a central place to track activities and related content rather than relying on scattered email threads and paperwork.

"Works well, easy to use and extensible"

What do you like best?

The ease of use, the drag-and-drop construction. It can take a little bit to get used to defining the fields, but once you understand how they operate workflow development picks up speed.

The forms allow for significant branding and customization. We can do lookups for a lot of data based on one or two fields and that speeds up the user experience.

Being able to write to multiple lists based on a step in the workflow is very helpful, this allows a single source for data but multiple users and areas can see and interact with the portions that they need.

Knowledge transfer to other tech staff is pretty straightforward.

What do you dislike?

The clunky way we have to control the Nintex Form overrides. Enabling and disabling constantly is a struggle, and when we want users to be able to see/edit fields until past some point in the workflow we would like to make the whole form view-only. This was a bit of a challenge and still something we work with.

Some of the permissions issues have been a bit annoying. If a user is working with a workflow, the workflow should have the access that it needs. The user's permissions allow them to get to the form and workflow, requiring additional permission levels to complete the workflow has caused some headaches, especially at implementation.

A lack of documentation on how to use javascript to interact with the forms is disappointing. This tool will get bigger, and we would love to extend the functionality by using javascript inside. Not having any documentation on it slows us down since everything is trial and error. A bit more transparency in this area please!

We did run into an issue with a recent release and it took quite a while to get the issue isolated and get a root cause. Considering that it occurred immediately after upgrade should have expedited some of the troubleshooting a bit more, our timeframe for root cause and fix was too long. It took multiple escalations to be heard, that should not have been required since we were assured that the error was replicated within Nintex's own installation.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It is very worth the time and effort to learn it. It can cut development time considerably, and when there is an issue the troubleshooting is much simpler (use you labels!!).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Sales Orders - pricing lookups, customer information lookups, approvals, and data validation have become smoother.

Production Requests - inventory lookups, calculations, approvals.

We already see a lot more confidence in our processes, improved speed in delivering a completed order to our customers, the potential for minimizing 'out of stock' situations is visible to those who are responsible for it.

Overall everything is very positive. Even with the bumps we took at our first implementation, people were generally focused on improving. Suggestions and requests for assistance in using and expanding our workflows are coming in at a very increased rate.

"A mixed bag of amazing features and limitations on the O365 platform"

What do you like best?

Would you like to design and publish a simple form and workflow in minutes? This product does that with ease. Learning the basics is quite easy. In your first session you should have no difficulty putting together a simple form (the time off request or expense approval are common examples) and showing it off to colleagues. Need to add in complex business requirements? It'll take longer to figure out, but the platform does provide some great features to help you get where you need to go. There are exceptions to this, however (see my comments below). Overall, I'm able to find solutions to 90% of my requirements with out-of-the-box Nintex.

The support team is solid--if a bit slow to respond. My company pays for Premium Support, which promises an 8 hour response time. They meet this by sending you an email acknowledging the request and stating that the issue has been passed to an engineer. I've found that the engineer will take anywhere from a few hours to a few days to get back to you. Overall, I've been satisfied with the overall expertise and professionalism. I would recommend paying the extra for the support--if you use the product a lot, it'll save your power users and developers many hours by being to ask a question instead of attempting to solve it through trial and error or by searching Nintex Community.

What do you dislike?

You are confined by the product's limitations--especially on the O365 platform. You'll want to meet a business requirement for the workflow and turn to google searches to find the solution, only to discover that the Nintex platform doesn't support it on the O365 platform. Often, the feature is supported in Nintex for SharePoint on-prem, but that doesn't help those of us working in the Cloud. There is also no obvious roadmap for O365 enhancements and feature releases have been very slow in the past 12 months. As a workflow builder, you quickly learn to abandon pushing for solutions to what does work and instead focus on different ways to accomplish the same business requirements--it's just a much better use of your time.

Lots of platform limitations can be solved with Javascript and CSS (which the platform allows), but these solutions steer the product away from the power user and toward a developer. If you've purchased this product to get away from paying a developer to do this work, this may catch you by surprise. Other issues can't be solved at all. One of the bigger limitations with the O365 platform is building workflows with conditional or timed starts--these features are simply not yet available on the O365 platform. I've found that our developers solve many of these problems by writing specific workflows in native SharePoint, which is great but really diminishes the value of purchasing Nintex in the first place.

Finally, there are warning signs that come with any app build on O365 SharePoint. First, if you end your relationship with Nintex, your workflows stop working. Second, Nintex support doesn't have much visibility into the O365 back-end. I've been told by multiple support engineers that they simply can't see what's going wrong in many occasions like the could in on-prem; MS doesn't make the logs available.

I could go on, but as you can see from my rating of 7 I'd still recommend this product to those who feel it meets their business requirements.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Prior to purchase, I'd really formalize requirements and establish ROI on the purchase. Don't buy it to be your one-stop-shop solution for everything, because there's a pretty good chance it won't be. With that said, if you have good ROI for building out forms and workflows that are easily done by Nintex, I believe it's a good purchase. Just go in knowing that if you're an O365 customer that you'll have to remain a Nintex customer for the lifetime of your workflows.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Mostly Forms and Workflows for regular business processes. For example, a user submits a form with information, which is then circulated through a series of approvers. Once the approvals are complete, the Form serves as a historical reference of both the information contained in the form and the documentation of approvals for future audits.

"Nintex - A decent tool for advanced SharePoint workflows"

What do you like best?

The design interface is very intuitive, and the out-of-the box components are very robust.

What do you dislike?

Like most tools of this nature, you will find that 90% of what you want to do in SharePoint is easier with Nintex. It can be frustrating when something that is very simple to do in something like .NET can be very difficult to do with Nintex.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Their support is pretty good although it can take a while for them to resolve issues. To do more complex tasks you need to use Javascript, but they actually try to discourage this.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have set up at least a dozen workflows to improve the process flow and automation at our company. Complex notification processes for onboarding and offboarding have been great candidates to migrate to a Nintex workflow. It's far easier to track what has (or has not) been done for onboarding and offboarding now.

"Nintex workflow is so powerful"

What do you like best?

I like that everything is visual, complex workflows can be generated just by drag and drop.

It's really great that we can benefit form CAML query.

Nintex form responsive is perfect for creating simple device friendly forms, however Nintex classic is a power tool for generating more complex form by using javascript and custom CSS.

What do you dislike?

I've found that the development in Nintex is pretty slow.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Almost all SharePoint requests go through Nintex.

"Nintex - Easy, Simple and Reliable??"

What do you like best?

Nintex from the software perspective is easy to learn for the average person with some technical intuition. The ability to create a workflow is simple and can be accomplished without much instruction. From a documentation support perspective, Nintex has very good documentation that describes how each function works and how to implement each function easily.

What do you dislike?

Following are pain points:

- Nintex history can create an aghast amount of content which uses much of the allotted storage for a given site.

- Nintex workflows have the ability to vastly slow the SharePoint Environment to a crawl if not manage properly.

- Nintex workflows are at times intermittent. For example Nintex has a feature which allows conditional starts on item creation or modification. This feature does not work consistently between environment or the cause of the inconsistency is not intuitively evident on the client side or the server side.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Nintex workflow is absolutely amazing when in comes to small or medium process. I would precede with caution if implementing core company process that can be audited as it has some fail points in this area if not carefully implemented.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With Nintex, automation of small to medium process are made simple. I commonly use Nintex for document and request approvals, moving data between sites collections, sites, list or libraries, status updates based of conditions, team processes, notifications, surveys, and much more.
