The ability to set up audits and simulations based on our specific needs. You can set up custom business rules and monitor tag values to ensure things are functioning as designed. You get a lot of site data performance data as well as tag data that can be used to help optimize your site performance as well.
What do you dislike?
It seems like the tool functionality and back end was done before working on the front end UX. Simple things like alphabetizing options in a drop down and ability to manage and organize numerous audits or simulations was not implemented when we got the tool. There are several functions and abilities we would like to have that we do not. We have been told that must of them are in the road map for enhancements though.
Recommendations to others considering the product
The data you get from the tool is great, the tool lacks currently in ways to view and sort the data. For example, you get java script errors on a page level and how many per page, but you can't sort by error type. A lot of the functionality we are looking for that wasn't there, we were told that it was planned for future enhancements. I think for the money, the tool is worth the cost right now as is, you can get a lot of great data out of it and make it very specific to your business. I would just say to be prepared to face some frustrating limitations as the front end of the tool catches up to the back end.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Since implementing we have identified site issues like java script errors, page statuses and load times on a specific page level basis. We have set up audits to run pre and post release to look for newly introduced issues and we have used these audits as benchmarks for tracking progress across our properties. We have worked with our QA team to setup specific simulations to mimic popular customer flows through our sites to help ensure there are no issues for the paths our customers want to take. We run most of our simulations daily across several user agents to ensure widespread coverage for testing and we get e-mail notifications when things run successfully or fail. We have not fully realized all the benefits of the tool as we are still getting buy in from different user groups, but we have a good foundation in place now to move forward with value to the company.
