"User Friendly but lacking advancements in the industry"

What do you like best?

The UI is very user friendly. Definitely the best DMP when it comes to integrations with other data partners and DSPs.

What do you dislike?

Lacking solutions that other DMPs have such as cross device. Reporting is good but could be better. Need to work on retaining historical data for reporting needs.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Service was lacking. Our only way to resolve technical issues was through submitting tickets however we are working through getting a dedicated and responsive support team.

"BlueKai Time Inc. user review"

What do you like best?

I like that other companies use BlueKai as well, so it makes it simple for them to share audiences. There is a number of useful, reliable 3rd party sources on BlueKai that we take advantage of often.

What do you dislike?

The user interface. It is very bad, does not make navigating around easy. Going from one audience to another and searching audiences is more of a process than it should be.

Also, the formulas for creating audiences does not allow for much besides the simple "AND" and "OR".

I also have been waiting about 3-4 days for an issue I submitted to BlueKai support and have yet to receive help.

See screenshot I attached to BlueKai having issues currently. This happens a lot.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have a number of custom targeted audiences that we created in BlueKai and are used every day for campaigns. This allows for our advertisers to target almost always the audience they would like. With so many 3rd party data sources, we can reach higher impression counts.

"No more worries about customer profiles"

What do you like best?

The very thought of knowing more about your existing customers is thrilling. BlueKai made this possible with the enormous amounts of customer data they had. Our firm had a lot of customers but we had very little detail about them. Bleak came to our rescue and helped with more data

What do you dislike?

Efforts can be made to get more customers onto their platform. For a business with fewer users, Bluekai might be able to give only a few matches with their data.

We run various marketing campaigns on our customers and often end up wrongly segmenting our customers. After Bluekai, we clearly know the profiles of our customers. We were able to target specific age groups, certain ethnicities with one kind of campaign which was more personalised to them. This saved us a lot of marketing budget and gave better effectiveness to that campaigns.

"Gold Standard for Data Targeting"

What do you like best?

BlueKai is just about on every vendor presentation deck--it's even so popular now that most media people just assume your media company has a data partnership with them. As far as data goes, I would definitely recommend them for agencies to use in the digital campaigns. BlueKai actually sell most of their data to other partners so most segments in DLX or Exelate actually come from them. Using this kind of data integration allows our campaigns to be much more targeted which increased the media ROI.

What do you dislike?

Buying data (while it sounds like the perfect solution) comes with a pricey cost. As your overall behavioral targeting campaigns drop in performance, the ROI gets crushed especially when there is a premium tacked onto your CPM to pay for the data.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you're on the agency side, your vendor partners are probably already using it. If you're on the vendor side, your agency clients want you to have access to this data pool. It's a staple product that should absolutely tested to see it's impact on performance.

"Essential tool for today's DATA world"

What do you like best?

Its Data Management Platform (DMP). The cloud based platform enabled us to look into the coockie based customer data and analyze their behavior. This helped a lot for targeting the right consumers and improve the marketing of our company services.

What do you dislike?

It is costly. And the User interface is not much user friendly. It can be improved. They have great customer base and lot of data. Sorting through that data should be easy and user friendly.

This is a great tool and essential in today's world of direct marketing.

We use this for making targeted marketing to specific audience for our services.

"BlueKai has data from all the big names and easy to use"

What do you like best?

We use Google's Doubleclick for Publishers along with BlueKai 3rd party segments to reach very specific audiences on our site. With so many different data sources to choose from and segments that are perfect for retailers as well as reaching B2B audiences, BlueKai is a great fit for our advertisers.

What do you dislike?

It is somewhat difficult to know the accuracy of the segments.

When checking avails for segments always knock about 20%-25% off the number that you are seeing.

In a world that is becoming more and more programmatic, we need to have the ability to offer our clients more valid clicks and leads. BlueKai is a way to target more specifically and hopefully, with transparency, show that we can offer true ROI. Using BlueKai we are also able to help educate our clients as to where the digital advertising world is heading and how we are there to lead them along the way.

"Powerful but not User Friendly"

What do you like best?

Access to a lot of data sets. Integrations exist with many other platforms.

What do you dislike?

Rules can be difficult to build when matching the proper nomenclature. Also, the taxonomy of data sets can be hard to navigate to add/remove choices.

It's a good tool, but other tools may offer additional advantages, quicker support, or more of a user friendly interface.

"The best marketing cloud software"

What do you like best?

They have a wide variety of 3rd party segments to access at a fair price . Also the connectivity is great.

What do you dislike?

Data is fairly priced but still tot expensive, especially for programmatic where clients are looking for efficiency in CPM pricing

We were trying to access their third party data segments to layer into any campaigns we are using that are BT tactics.

They have great behavioral data that is "in market" which is really the key to 3rd party data, especially in RTB based environments where we are targeting cookies not sites.

"Solid DMP"

What do you like best?

The best thing about the Blue Kai DMP is that it provides the ability to target by behavior, gender, and demographics, so basically, that it works as a product.

What do you dislike?

Blue Kai is challenging to integrate because of the the inventory testing that needs to be done. First off, you have to wait for newly populated segments to be populated. Secondly, you have to reduce the available inventory by a to-be-determined percentage based on your own testing. You can't take all available inventory or the campaigns will under-deliver.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure you plan for 1-2 months of understanding the actual inventory that your Blue Kai segments will yield for a certain period of time. For us, it was 70% of available inventory - otherwise BT-targeted campaigns would under-deliver.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We solved the business problems of serving our national and local advertisers with behavioral targeting. Before using Blue Kai, we could not target behavior or demographics.

"Effective tool to activate first party data"

What do you like best?

The interface allowed for easy access to my client's cookie pool data. It provide insights into audience levels and various subcategories that could be targeted to hit the specific goals of our executions.

The staff at BlueKai was very knowledgeable and able to answer any question that popped up when putting together an effective strategy for my client.

What do you dislike?

Depending on your use of the tool (simply looking at segmented audience etc), the interface seemed pretty outdated and not up to some of the standard of their competitors like Acxiom.

Recommendations to others considering the product

BlueKai might seem the right tool for your business but before you move down this path you need to clear determine what your objectives are as initial integration and training do require time and results are not something you can expect to see with a flick of a switch.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

My client targeted a very specific audience ranging from C-Level executives to enterprises with a revenue of over $5B a year. Needles to say having audience segmentation and insight was a crucial element of setting up the media strategy and an even more important factor when getting to the execution phase. BlueKai's technology and integration with my client's website allowed us to easily activate this audience across the web via data server transfers to some of the biggest players in the space. BlueKai's insights allowed for greater ROI and deeper level of targeting and optimizations throughout the digital landscape.

"User Friendly"

What do you like best?

I liked how items in the menus were explained well, as a first time user, I found it helpful.

What do you dislike?

At times it seemed like a little much was on the screen. Making the interface cleaner would be helpful.

What do you like best?

The audience segments are built out very well and at a large scale.

"Leading data provider"

What do you like best?

It is very easy to target the audience you want to with BlueKai. They have a huge amount of audience data and my experience with them has always been hassle-free. I think they are a great DMP and have a very easy way of integrating.

What do you dislike?

As with any Data managing partner, there is always a risk of data inaccuracy. While, I haven't experienced that first hand with BlueKai, I think in general it can be something to be weary of with all audience data.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

In terms of reaching the audience you want to as a business, using a DMP is definitely beneficial. I would recommend at least some time of DMP for a digital company.

"BlueKai's massive database makes it a powerful tool"

What do you like best?

BlueKai's relevancy in user-targeting is very comprehensive - I believe they track close to a billion user profiles. From a consumer perspective, the BlueKai Registry is a great tool to give users a glimpse of what digital information of theirs is being collected.

What do you dislike?

Unlike many of their competitors, BlueKai's interface looks and feels pretty dated.

What do you like best?

The ease of working with the platform and the people behind it.

What do you dislike?

BlueKai was a little slow getting back to me with the results from the planning desk to help me see how my data was performing.

You shouldn't hesitate to work with them. They are a big fish but it's like working with a little fish in a big pond.
