"Great MAP that continues to get better with each major release."

What do you like best?

E10 interface, the campaign canvass and advanced lead scoring module plus the wealth of apps on the Eloqua App Cloud make Eloqua a modern marketers best weapon to score and nurture leads and deliver topline revenue to their organization. I also love the online community Topliners where other users can connect and solve problems without calling support and share new ideas to improve efforts!

What do you dislike?

The training is pretty time consuming but once you get past it you're good to go. Account service fell off the radar during the acquisition by Oracle but finally is back to where I expect it as a long time customer.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure to talk with at least 3 existing customers who are similar to you and your company/organization. Especially recommend those who have switched from other platforms like Marketo. Also look at analyst reports to help you make a decision and make sure to include your Salesforce.com or CRM admin in your evaluation!

"Great Product"

What do you like best?

I like how easy it is to view all templates and previously sent emails. I've used other tools that make it difficult to create/use templates.

What do you dislike?

I dislike how scattered all the steps to send an email are. I feel like you have to go over here to create your email, over here to make your recipient list and over there to send the email.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Take some time to figure out the system. It may seem confusing, but it is full of great information and definitely has made things easier by having all materials in one place.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Oracle Eloqua is helping to create one spot for all our email marketing related items. It helps send, store and track all email marketing for our company. It also helps all our different office locations keep track of what everyone else is doing.

"Eloqua is by far one of the best marketing automation platforms"

What do you like best?

-Easy to use interface that does not require technical skills for basic campaign execution tasks like setting up emails, forms, landing pages, segments, and campaigns

-Highly customizable. This comes in handy with lead management workflows, advanced nurture campaigns, and integrations of all kinds but especially with CRMs (Salesforce.com, MS Dynamics Cloud, and Oracle Sales Cloud)

-Eloqua has features that allow you to segregate data, reporting, assets, etc. so all the users can share one Eloqua nicely. These are great features for larger marketing teams and/or teams with users in different regions with different needs.

What do you dislike?

-Reporting functionality - Both my team and our customers have experienced challenges in reporting due to lack of seemingly basic features and export limitations within the Insight Reporting Engine.

-System downtime - Our customers have communicated frustrations over the past six months due to more frequent system-level downtimes when key data isn't being captured for processing which can have a relatively small to rather significant impact on the business.

-Less focus on development - While bigger, more popular features continue to be the focus of development, ie responsive landing page editor, native integrations with multiple third-party vendors, and the like; the other side of the development scale seems to have suffered from lack of focus, ie, new reporting on dynamic content but lacking click-through data.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Eloqua is well suited for clients with the need to automate marketing tasks to save on time and money. This would be most marketing teams and primarily B2B. Eloqua may be used for B2C marketing but there are better fit products for that.

Eloqua is especially great for large and/or complex marketing, sales, and IT teams. It has the ability to be customized to meet their needs while not being extremely difficult to setup and manage. It has functionality that its competitors lack to support global, large marketing teams.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It allows our small team to execute dozens of campaigns per year by leveraging some of the automation power in the platform.

It allows us to measure our marketing efforts' impact on sales revenue which are improving year over year.

"Robust marketing automation; invest in a seasoned admin."

What do you like best?

ORCL ELQ's framework is flexible enough that there are many ways to accomplish things. The solution is scalable; I've used it in several organizations and have yet found a way to stump it or outgrow its capabilities.

What do you dislike?

ELQ is far from plug-and-play. It requires a lot of care and feeding and some orgs underestimate the amount of time required to keep things running smoothly. Some of its "old framework" architecture can be a bit clunky (i.e., Program Builder), but they are making great strides in modernizing with things like Program Canvas.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Do your homework when evaluating marketing automation platforms and be realistic in your expectations and capabilities. If all you're planning to do is automate batch-and-blast emails, ELQ is likely overkill. Invest in training or hire a seasoned admin, or you'll likely realize a fraction of its benefits.

Preparation is key - map you content, identify your power users, and don't gloss over integrations.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The primary business problem we set out to solve with Eloqua was messaging prospects, leads, and customers at scale, and measuring the effectiveness of that outreach. We've since expanded into omnichannel marketing and ABM. To date, ELQ has met our needs along the way.

We now know who is engaging with what, and more importantly, what's NOT working, enabling our Program Managers to make data-driven decisions about their programs and measure the impact in metrics that resonate across the organization.

"Easier to use than Salesforce Marketing Cloud"

What do you like best?

Eloqua has worked very hard to make an application that is easy to visually program. Eloqua forms have extremely powerful post submit processing capacity that is easy to implement.

What do you dislike?

Eloqua has an old and outdated reporting engine. Getting the basics is fairly easy, but cumbersome. Most of the content used in Eloqua is built outside HTML applications so its lack of a modern email and landing page editor is not a huge issue, but will need to be resolved soon.

Recommendations to others considering the product

By far the easiest of the enterprise level tools to use. Make sure and compare how easy setting up forms and form processing is within any application you are putting up against Eloqua. Look at the how simple using standard items like shared components, dynamic components, and landing pages are to use in Eloqua. Tools like Salesforce Marketing Cloud require way too much programming to do simple tasks. Make sure and define how you will be getting names into Eloqua and how simple Yes/No steps in campaigns are done in Eloqua.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

B2B marketing from email marketing, in person and webinar event marketing, to full attribution and influence tracking.

"Excellent too, poor support"

What do you like best?

Eloqua's user interface is friendly and easy to use. Detailed training is available and highly recommended. Landing page features are robust, and contact management is a snap. Integration with Salesforce is much better than other CRMs.

What do you dislike?

Oracle support is so poor. Full value of the tool has been not been realized. Dealing with Oracle has been an ongoing struggle. Integration with Siebel is difficult, which is interesting given they are both Oracle products. Would also like to have had different instances and better segmentation of data.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Customer journeys, better data, better segmentation, improved automation/efficiency and better control of messages/audiences. We are able to see the progress in our different marketing campaigns and are able to see how customers react to the progress and changes.

"Eloqua works well for a midsize company"

What do you like best?

We like that we are able to put projects into action quickly with the templates available in Eloqua.

What do you dislike?

We dislike that there are very few customization options in the template, and we are limited with the visual aspect of how the emails can be seen by the intended audience.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Eloqua is a great system to use in order to reach out to a large group of people to communicate events, webcasts, webinars or other important business needs. We use Eloqua for digital even invitations, primarily to control registration and keep track of those that are attending and interacting with our brand. We have a dedicated team that works on sending out tests of digital emails, and these can be customized in different templates, and help maintain the integrity of our brand. We are able to use our brand colors, font, and ensure that our brand voice is heard through the email that our intended audience is receiving. The click-ability and overall appearance is professional and visually appealing, and is much more effective than a generic email from an automated system. I have been mostly happy with my user experience with sending out Eloqua emails to our clients, prospects and COIs.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

For a larger business, it is imperative that communications come across in a professional manner, rather than through a generic email, and Eloqua allows companies to connect quickly with a large group of people in a short amount of time.

"Eloqua, in a class of its own."

What do you like best?

Eloqua has been incremental in ensuring our organizational success in the B2B space. It is a vital aspect of our marketing program and we would not be able to effectively execute our complex marketing campaigns without it. I love the ability to quickly implement our strategies and ensure there are a multitude of fail safes to sure our campaign will go smoothly. Utilizing features like dynamic content and the campaign canvas quickly allow you to see why Eloqua is the best platform on the market.

What do you dislike?

Eloqua could improve on it's WYSIWYG email and landing page builder but from what I understand this is on the road map. It also has an outdated UI on the reporting tool but this is slowing being updated with a new version. The app cloud partners are somewhat limited but if you feel comfortable with utilizing the API or only have limited need for partner apps this would be a limited concern.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Compare it to the competitors and you will quickly see how much better it is.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Eloqua has allowed us to scale at lightning speed and ensure that the only limitation to our marketing plan is our imagination. We have been able to easily execute and grow within the platform as our organization grows and Eloqua has done great to accelerate that growth. Eloqua has allowed us to easily transform our marketing program as new trends change within the industry and can ensure that the automation platform is not the limiting factor to any success we are working to achieve.

"Easy to learn, difficult to master"

What do you like best?

What I like most about Oracle Eloqua is the ease a Campaign can be configured on the Campaign canvas. The UI is user friendly and lets you quickly setup a comprehensive campaign in only a few minutes. The way the components interact is seamless, forms, segments everything comes together and connects on the Canvas.

What do you dislike?

Insights in Integrations, logging could be better. Including batch ID's in the logging would be very beneficial. Also looking forward to A/B Testing functionality, community and clients have been waiting for this for a long time. Luckily this is now on the Roadmap. The insights on platform use could also be improved.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Great tool for your Marketing Automation. When considering Eloqua please review how many (potential)customers you will be targeting, what size is your current database of contacts?

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Lead Nurturing and Lead Generation. With the -right campaigns with the right content at the right time -you're able to nurture and generate leads through Oracle Eloqua.

"Best Marketing Automation solution for Medium sized and enterprise businesses"

What do you like best?

The integration options makes it easy to connect Eloqua with other products within the marketing landscape. The fact that you have standard integrations with several major CRM systems but at the same time are able to build your own integration is very nice. Next to this, you can build your own connections using the AppCloud Developer framework which gives you the possibility to build feeder, decision action and some other services.

Next to the integration, I like the campaign canvas more and more, it gives a very clear overview of your campaign and with the easy drag and drop solution you can expand your campaign within seconds.

What do you dislike?

Oracle needs some time to get back up to speed after they purchased Eloqua. The roadmap has some promising things on it, but it still takes a while before they arrive. Some of the features that are planend for the future are already standard within the competitor solution

Recommendations to others considering the product

make sure that the product fits your needs before you take the decision. Eloqua itself has a lot of features that might be overwhelming. Also, make sure you actually need the specific features of Eloqua. In case you have a short sales cycle, it might be more interesting to look at Oracle Responsys instead of Eloqua. Are you a multinational and looking for a solid Marketing Automation solution, no need to look further!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Automated campaigns that can run over extended periods, and personalisation of outgoing messages (both emails and text messages) making the customer feel more valued

"I simply LOVE Eloqua"

What do you like best?

Eloqua is great for large organizations that can support the implementation of this tool and its integration with your CRM. I love the way it allows you to design advanced and highly-customized campaign nurtures.

What do you dislike?

Some parts of the product still contain old and not user-friendly interfaces (getting improved). Sometimes the product is slow to load assets and pages.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Eloqua is great for large organizations that can support the implementation of this tool and its integration with your CRM.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have been using the Eloqua platform to drive the buyer path to purchase, to maximise opportunities for my organization and to make our customers’ businesses simpler, faster and flexible, working on both inbound and outbound activities, anything from one-off initiatives through to automated/triggered always-on campaigns.

"Eloqua is the marketing automation's MacGyver"

What do you like best?

I think there is not anything that Eloqua can't do. In a nutshell, Eloqua is a marketing automation system and can do what you would expect the marketing automation system to do. But if you want a bit more automation outside of 'just' the marketing then Eloqua shines with the capabilities it has.

What do you dislike?

The learning curve with Eloqua is a bit higher. The system is updating its interface for the better all the time but still, some things are not so shiny.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Automating the inbound marketing as well the current customer flows. We can now ensure that we do not forget a contact anywhere. Also with GDPR now kicking in the Eloqua system makes sure we are on the track on this also.

"Integration Time - Quite Simple and Easy"

What do you like best?

-Well-designed visual campaign builder, nice visual campaign builder that’s both intuitive and powerful to use.

-The reputation of this program, is widely considered to be the most powerful marketing automation tool for enterprise businesses.

-The integration in the program, it's very intuitive and easy to use for new users

What do you dislike?

-Customer Quality (isn't bad though but it can improve a lot)

-It's very expensive for most users, even the basic pricing

-No integration with Google Adwords, there is no way to track PPC ROI using Oracle Marketing Cloud

-Implementation usually takes a long time

Recommendations to others considering the product

You should definitely look at this program, it's very easy to adapt

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I work at a large marketing company with many brands and moving to Eloqua was simple and easy. List import was a breeze using their import tools, and because the UI is so intuitive, our very non-tech savvy Editors were able to move and start using the tools in days.

"Complex marketing automation tool "

What do you like best?

Oracle Eloqua is a fascinating product given the depth and breadth of marketing automation capabilities. Recent UI enhancements have made the system visually more appealing. The Campaign Canvas makes the set up and execution of campaigns easy, and the integration with Salesforce and cloud apps available (GoToWebinar) speed campaign tracking.

What do you dislike?

We're a SME business and the tool is just too big for our organization. We have four administrators worldwide and Eloqua is only part of our roles. If Eloqua were our sole responsibility I'm sure we would use the more to our advantage.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Enables our organization to engage with customers and prospects via email marketing, allows the creation of landing pages and forms, and is the single location where all of our marketing prospect data is stored.

"Very Powerful....with Caveats"

What do you like best?

I like that Eloqua allows a million different ways to customize your marketing programs. If you can dream it up, you can do it when it comes to Eloqua.

What do you dislike?

I dislike the fact that I need a team of developers and campaign specialists to manage the platform and all of our programs. I also think that the community has declined over the years since it was first purchased by Oracle and the account management is non-existent.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Try Marketo....we are too far along in our process with Eloqua so we are stuck with it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Eloqua does help us to solve our email marketing problems but it is a struggle when it comes to managing the complexity of the platform.

"Eloqua - a 1990s User Experience"

What do you like best?

I like it that Oracle is *trying* to make updates to Eloqua, but the updates they do make do not bring it into this century.

What do you dislike?

The UI is antiquated and extremely frustrating to use. The user experience is absolutely the worst I've ever seen. Simple things like integrated single sign on, click to open contact records and the ability to directly download a report do not exist in Eloqua. The MOST frustrating thing is that the reports are not directly downloadable. Instead they are emailed to you. Then you have to sign into Eloqua, but the sign in boxes are not the same as they are when you ordinarily log in. Instead of 3 fields (one for company name, one for username, and one for password), the format is switched to 2 fields (one for company name/user name and then a second field for password). There are no clear directions on how to do this under the boxes. It is CRAZY and an awful, time consuming and frustrating experience.

Oh, and if you close the browser window without logging off (like you do with every other Saas product out there), you will not be able to log back in - you get stuck in some weird purgatory state and need to shut down your computer, clear your cache and use an incognito window to get back in. Eloqua has wasted more of my time than I care to think about. It is awful.

The email templates are C- - you need an HTML person to put together any good looking emails and there are no interactive (aka modern) landing page templates. We had to use a third-party landing page company to build out quizzes, calculators, etc.

Bottom line: there are MUCH better options for automated marketing out there. I have used others in my career and they all run circles around Eloqua.

Recommendations to others considering the product

DO NOT USE ELOQUA if you have other options. The UI is antiquated and extremely frustrating to use. If you want to do anything "modern", like append data, create descent landing pages, etc., you will have to buy additional services from other vendors. The user experience is absolutely the worst I've ever seen. Simple things like integrated single sign on, click to open contact records and the ability to directly download a report do not exist in Eloqua. "Eloqua — An Email Sender"

What do you like best?

Eloqua is a great platform for those who are new to the marketing game, and those who have been in the game for a long time and would like to step it up. There is a ton of functionality and it allows you to expand your strategy and ideas without needing to invest in other softwares too much.

What do you dislike?

Eloqua is not the easiest system to learn. It takes some times to figure out and train new team members on how to use the system well. It also is a system that takes a lot of time to configure correctly, especially if someone set it up without fully knowing what they were doing

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are using Oracle Eloqua to automate our email marketing campaigns. As well as venture into nurture campaigns for our current contacts. It has been really helpful in creating dynamic campaigns that will allow us to continue to grow our support and contact loyalty.

"Very useful tool for my business (medium size)"

What do you like best?

I really like the application because is very friendly user and easy to use and understand.

Thanks to Oracle Eloqua we have been able to implement campaigns in a short time and without great efforts. One thing that I really like about the app is that it allows a high level of personalization. In fact, I totally recommend it. I think can bring many befits to the business.

What do you dislike?

We have realized that sometimes it can be a little complicated to configure the platform, especially at first. In addition, he showed us some error messages without knowing why.

we have noticed that the company has implemented changes in the platform lately. These problems make us dedicate several people to automate the application and solve the problems we have while we use it. It costs us money and time

"Incredibly Poor Product and Customer Support"

What do you like best?

Integrates well with most CRM platforms. Has robust capabilities when it comes to marketing automation and functionality.

What do you dislike?

Product is buggy, has incredibly poor account management and customer support. Unable to send emails due to bad IP addresses that Oracle provides that will impact your deliver ability.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would strongly consider utilizing Marketo, Hubspot or other marketing automation platforms instead of Oracle's Eloqua. Since the acquisition they have become unreasonable and it shows in the platform. When you're unable to even send out basic emails and they don't want to propose solutions it goes to show how fall they have fallen from once being a top tier marketing automation platform.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were attempting to leverage the platform to market to our diverse customer base as well as for our sales force which numbers in the hundreds to leverage Eloqua Engage and Profiler. The platform is buggy and when you reach out for solutions that impact all of your emails or all of your users you get answers that may take months. Oracle is out of touch with their customers and it shows in the platform. We're moving off the platform even with a year left in our contract.

"Winning with Eloqua"

What do you like best?

We use Eloqua to market to our prospects and current customers either independently or in conjunction with some of our partners as part of larger campaigns. Typically we are inviting them to a WebEx or live event or sharing case studies and blog posts about industry trends. Typically we are using our own list or a segment provided to us by a partner for the specific campaign criteria. Segmentation and campaign creation are solid. Eloqua is a true enterprise level tool. It gives you what you need to get the job done, it is easy to use and you have a lot of support through communities, tutorials, documentation and events

What do you dislike?

I think there are some weaknesses around changes to the UI but look and feel aside I think the automation capabilities are the best out there today. You won't find it in the competition.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We didn't have any marketing before so it has had a tremendous impact. Allowing our marketing team to gain valuable insight to share across all levels of our organization. We have started using some of the data to determine when to re-engage with previous clients.

Return on Investment:

Ability to track end to end interactions

Increased analytics

Utilizing custom data objects extends the capability of the tool. Provides ultimate flexibility of data processing. If you know how to code HTML, and JavaScript, you can basically do anything you want.

What do you dislike?

A/B testing needs to be improved and campaign canvas apps are not the best.

Recommendations to others considering the product

"Decent Enterprise Product without Some of the Features of Marketo"

What do you like best?

Ability to handle and process large amounts of data and build complex programs that would potentially crash of MA platforms. It's great to have a lot of flexibility with blank canvases to develop essentially anything you can think of. In Marketo, it could take several minutes (or longer) to refresh a smart list. In Eloqua, it usually only takes a few seconds.

What do you dislike?

The lack of simple features that you take for granted from Marketo that really make it more efficient to build programs. Cloning programs, ad bridge, web personalization, and attribution are all areas that I miss from Marketo. There is a lot that you can do with Eloqua, but the more robust features that Marketo offers (for an extra fee) are missed.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I'd evaluate Marketo as well. Just keep in mind that Marketo's product doesn't seem to be getting the type of investment it needs. I'd ask to see the product roadmap from both vendors.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are building complex flows in our buyers journey to move people down the funnel. Like most platforms, you get out what you put in. Eloqua is relatively easy to use and can handle many of the challenges that we are facing. Scaling is not an issue either. Another benefit is that, because Eloqua was clearly built for enterprise, you can set up data standardization that you wouldn't be able to do with Marketo.

"Powerful Automation Platform"

What do you like best?

Eloqua is a powerful marketing automation platform. I've used it at a couple of workplaces now including at an agency that supported fortune 500 companies manage their instances of Eloqua. What I like best about Eloqua over other automation tools I've used is its flow chart view of campaigns. It's nice to be able to see each automation step visually mapped out in front of you from end to end.

What do you dislike?

I really dislike the reporting capabilities in Eloqua. Running reports is a surprisingly complex process and is not intuitive. At one time in my career, my full-time job was just for creating and running reports out of Eloqua. That's how involved the process is.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would suggest only consider using Eloqua for large organizations who run complex marketing campaigns. It's too large and complex of a tool for small marketing teams. You'll need campaign managers, an administrator, and even plan on having room in the budget for a person to run reports if you want to get the full breadth of use from the platform. You'll also likely want to hire an agency to help you with the initial setup.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

When I used Eloqua, it was at large international organizations because it is one of the best available tools for handling international automation campaigns really well. We were able to use the platform for running complex campaigns and in multiple languages.

"Eloqua - Patience & Practice"

What do you like best?

If you can figure out your way around Eloqua, you can navigate just about anything, your your click dexterity will improve greatly. The online help/resource library is not bad, but it's all learn and DIY unless you're willing to pay for support or unless you like spending time in a confusing forum community.

What do you dislike?

Eloqua is clunky to say the least, and it requires a lot of practice and patience to work your way around - everything feels at least 5 or more clicks away. The UI is not very clean. Their forms can be buggy at random times. Their design editor and templates are also less than intuitive and user friendly.

"The most powerful Marketing Automation tool on the market"

What do you like best?

Eloqua has the power and flexibility to deal with large enterprise companies that have many business units across many industries.

What do you dislike?

There is two distinct parts to Eloqua (E10 vs E9). This is strange because it's a completely different user experience and also has the same objects with different names. It causes confusion for the end user.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Ensure you have 2 or 3 Eloqua power users on your payroll before trying to implement.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It has been the product that has allowed us to move all of our marketing automation to one platform. As a result we've had cost saving alignment, increased productivity, and much more!

"Powerful, but expensive and time consuming to learn"

What do you like best?

If you have developers to work with, Eloqua can connect to a variety of marketing tech platforms and you can accomplish a wide variety of marketing and customer experience projects.

The ability to create custom and personalized landing pages has helped us boost conversion rates for many of our campaigns.

What do you dislike?

To really make the most of this platform, you need access to a person or team who knows how to develop for it. Additionally, Eloqua is sold as a "do it all" platform, but it actually requires connectors and custom development to get to that point. Some of the connectors are expensive, as well.

Additionally, Eloqua's "responsive" email tempaltes do not work across all devices. It's been our experience that custom coded HTML emails fully tested outside of Eloqua (using Litmus or Email on Acid) work best.

There is also a steep learning curve. I've been using Eloqua for over 3 years now and only in the last year did I start feeling confident with it.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be aware that you will need additional connectors and development resources if you want to use Eloqua as a true conductor for digital marketing. It does not "do it all" out of the box.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We've put a robust onboarding program in place with Eloqua, which provides customized messaging based on data points for individual clients. We've been able to better target our promotional emails, stand up newsletter campaigns, behavior-based campaigns, and are taking advantage of landing pages for our paid advertising campaigns.

"First Year with Eloqua"

What do you like best?

Eloqua is a very powerful product and helped us with marketing automation. What I liked best was the campaign canvas as it gave a nice visual of the nurture path we were sending leads down. I liked how we had the ability to add dynamic information in emails.

What do you dislike?

There isn't a great UI and reporting is very difficult to setup. You can get a lot of errors without any insights as to what is wrong with the way it is setup,

Recommendations to others considering the product

I believe Eloqua requires much more of a technical background for those that will be using it on a daily basis. It is extremely powerful but can be difficult to setup reports or troubleshoot if something goes wrong.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We wanted to have a platform to collect and nurture leads. Even after only one year we had a greater understanding of our market segments as it relates to content and offers.

"Easiest Product for Managing our Demand Generation Programs"

What do you like best?

We use Eloqua for all of our demand generation activities. Here's a few areas that it works best for us...

- Synchronization with SalesForce to upload and update contacts

- Synchronization with WebEx

- Ease of use for even the not so savvy HTML marketers

- Reporting features

What do you dislike?

There are a few areas related to the UI that I would like to see changed - mostly on the campaign canvas. For example, when you set an evaluate period to 6 days - it would be helpful to see what 6 days is from the point of campaign activation.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Take the training courses - they're really helpful!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With Eloqua, we are able to create and schedule in multiple emails and campaigns. We can "set and forget" emails, which is extremely helpful. Once we build the HTML, we just schedule everything in and it's helpful not to have to go back and constantly make updates.

"High powered Marketing Automation but sometimes hard to use"

What do you like best?

The campaign and reporting functions are very powerfiul and easy to use. Reports can be exported to Excel files and can be easily converted into Pivot Tables for further drill down. Campaigns are visual and easy to build and execute.

What do you dislike?

creating html emails is difficult using the internal editor. To make it (much) easier I create and copy and paste with Adobe DreamWeaver and Eloqua.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Powerful program and accomplishes what I want, just remember that the creation of html emails is not easy and may require an outside editor.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Effective and efficient email marketing and communications with our customers and prospects. We accomplish this with one off emails as well as specific campaigns and general drip campaigns.

"Best Multi-Channel Marketing On The Market"

What do you like best?

This platform is so easy to use and unlike a lot of the platforms out there is designed beautifully. I really like the validation feature to make sure your campaigns are set up correctly before you launch. It allows you to run through each touchpoint and make sure they are all functioning correctly before you make it live.

What do you dislike?

The only thing I dislike is that it doesn't have a print or variable pdf function. I work in the print industry and creating personalized direct mail pieces and variable PDFs for personalized coupons in your emails is a must in my opinion. There aren't many platforms that have this feature.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

This platform allows me to have more dynamic marketing and it allows me to provide a unique marketing experience for my clients.

"Get the most out of your email campaigns"

What do you like best?

We love how simple it is to build email campaigns using Eloqua and to send them out to our target segments. the analytics we get back from Eloqua are also extremely useful and help us determine if our campaigns are effective enough or if we need to make changes. We also really like the dashboard and the fact that you have a recent updates section, and a section with the last things you were working on. This makes it very simple to make changes quickly or pick up where you left off. The stats right in the dashboard are also a great way to get a quick overview of how your campaigns and social accounts are performing.

What do you dislike?

A bit of training is required in the beginning to get the hang of using the program. The user interface could also be updated, but this is not a big issue for us.

Recommendations to others considering the product

This is a very powerful program that will really change the way you approach your marketing. The social features integrated in this software really make using this software worth it. We noticed an immediate difference in how effective we were able to make our marketing efforts after we began using Eloqua.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are now able to effectively track our marketing efforts and to easily plan our marketing campaigns and track how our customers perceive our efforts. The social listening and analytic tools help us clearly evaluate our efforts.

"Powerful tool, often buggy, still would recomend"

What do you like best?

Lots of features and functionality, customizable, lots of automation options. I like that you can still use the HTML editor if you prefer that to the WYSIWYG editor. Integrates with a lot of other software programs. Integrations are fairly easy to manage. The campaign flow builder is very visual and easy to understand even for people not familiar with the software.

What do you dislike?

Eloqua can be very buggy, especially since the purchase by Oracle. Their support is also poor in my mind.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would say Eloqua is the biggest and most powerful option out there, but they are still figuring out how to be a part of the Oracle family so there are some hiccups, but nothing that has serious impact.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use Eloqua for email marketing, landing pages, gating, event registrations, welcome and lead nurturing programs, lead scoring and so much more.

"Great for single landing pages and Email campaigns"

What do you like best?

The tracking in eloqua is great, you can track every page, every email and campaign easily

What do you dislike?

The platform itself seems to be outdated and slugish, its kinda a mish mash of another platform.

Recommendations to others considering the product

This is a good platform with good metrics, but it does take some time to understand it and can be confusing at times especially when doing drip nurture campaigns. If considering this platform be prepared for lots of training to understand the ins and outs of the platform. You many not need to know everything, it depends on your area of marketing.

"Email deployment with great reporting "

What do you like best?

I love Eloqua for deploying emails and setting up email campaigns and auto campaigns. It also gives you insight on how your email did. Was it opened? did people unsubscribe?

What do you dislike?

You really have to be trained to use the program to use it effectivly

Recommendations to others considering the product

Eloqua is a top notch email deployment program. It really does it all. From creating emails, to creating campaigns to deploying emails to finally report on how well the emails do. It provides the entire package.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am able to send out my own emails and create campaigns so depending on a customers response or no response a new email will come to them in a timely manner. It is helping me create campaigns that I can easily track. It also gives me great reports on how my emails are doing.

"More intuitive than ever"

What do you like best?

Segmenting is probably the best feature they have. The UX is very intuitive and helps you think through the basic structure of your campaign.

What do you dislike?

The design feature is limiting. Sometimes I find myself losing assets on the page if I drag them out of the email by accident, then they will show up in the actual email. I always test my emails, so this has never been a huge problem, but it is rather annoying.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Invest in your employees' training! I can't stress that enough. I had to learn through one-on-one sessions, booklets, a colleague's notes, videos, etc. It was a very long learning curve that could have been avoided through their formal training program.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are using this for general solicitation and event reach-out. Since we can A/B test subject lines, layouts, etc., it's helped us learn how to better serve our audience.

"Eloqua- The perfect Marketing Automation tool"

What do you like best?

Eloqua, Oracle's best marketing application has the best targeting feature using segments which makes the tool appropriate to enhance the revenue. The robust reporting feature using Eloqua insight makes the application very adaptive to any business scenario. The drag and drop feature in the campaign canvas is a much positive feature which stands the application ahead of others.

What do you dislike?

There should have been a some additional flexible form customization feature which would have made form usage easier.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are looking for a marketing automation tool to reduce all your marketing efforts and integrate your existing CRM, this is the best one.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Eloqua has been able to address all the major business problems in marketing industry. The tool is efficiently able to cut down the marketing cost and effort through a single channel. It is possible to cross channel market the product or service using different adapters and third party integrations available thus cutting down the costs on other tools. Proficient lead scoring mechanisms available in the tool makes the business identify the right opportunities at right time.

"Eloqua for Sales"

What do you like best?

Eloqua is an easy way for me to send emails to as many or as few contacts as I need in a quick and efficient but personalized manner. It's great to be able to see the responsiveness and opens of what attracts our customers, or what they are interested in.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes it still comes off as an automated message, which is fine, but solutions like mail merge make it look more personalized.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure you get some good training as to how you use the product, but then embrace and use it for a wise variety of applications and emails.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Blasting targeted emails to specific customers to help raise awareness and generate sales. It is a quicker use of my time to target large audiences while tracking the interest of them.

"Workhorse, but not UI friendly. "

What do you like best?

Setting up email campaigns and landing pages are quick and easy.

What do you dislike?

There's a lot that eloqua can do, but not many resources you can find to really put eloqua in good use. The UI changes frequently, so you need to take a moment to familiarize yourself with the dashboard.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Eloqua is an excellent marketing tool, but do your research and if you can find how-tos I would memorize them.

"The old standard"

What do you like best?

Eloqua is commonly adopted and used by companies so it's one automation platform to have experience with that serves me well

What do you dislike?

It is clunky and not intuitive for users. Being one of the early automation platforms, it reminds me of MS and it's business applications. It feels like we're just stuck with the hard to use platform that can be buggy as hell. But, hey, it's what everyone uses so better stick with it.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Weigh the pros and cons of using the "original" marketing automation platform versus the newer ones (that may be more intuitive but have less use/acceptance)

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Finally have lead scoring in place and that is huge for lead velocity.

"Marketing and Mass Emails"

What do you like best?

The ability to use some variable data type options, like insert first name here, is useful. I like the ability to send mass emails, not sure if the people on the list like it.

What do you dislike?

The analytics and reports are poor. The profiler feature doesn't offer much info, and the reports aren't all that helpful. The data should be more in depth.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you have total control over emails, Eloqua works. If you have marketing departments sending Eloqua emails on behalf of you, it can be overkill and the unsubscribe rate is incredibly high.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I don't have time to send personalized emails one at a time. The benefits of eloqua are to send mass marketing emails, but tracking and reporting is less than desirable. When and if someone replies to an eloqua email, it goes to my regular email box for response, which is nice.

"Eloqua Review"

What do you like best?

Eloqua can be a very powerful tool if you have someone who's main job it is to learn all the ins and outs of the tool. I like it's campaign management but there are things that are lacking.

What do you dislike?

It lacks several things less powerful marketing tools have like A/B testing and decent reports. The dashboard is not pretty or user friendly.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Oracle has started focusing on improving Eloqua. The tool is extremely powerful if you have the time to work with it and learn the ins and outs. This is not going to be your run of the mill Mailchimp, it will take a dedicated resource to manage.

"The Marketing Software Umbrella"

What do you like best?

Integration to over 700 applications, ability to easily create targeted campaigns across multiple marketing channels, encourages strong alignment between sales and marketing.

What do you dislike?

It’s very costly. Can be a few thousand dollars per month. Interface is a bit confusing, lots of drop downs make it harder to navigate - it's nice that all the information is accessible from one main screen. I would definitely like to have more Oracle support. At this point, I felt like the support is a little more impersonal.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would sign up for a trial just to see if it’s a platform that you would like to use. It has so many aspects/features to explore. See if it would work for your organization and then make a decision based on that.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have solved problems with our CRM process. Our marketing and sales reps are now able to keep up with their leads without having to keep up with a document on Microsoft Excel or other platforms.

"Powerful Marketing Automation System - Not for beginners"

What do you like best?

I love the flexibility and customization

What do you dislike?

Some navigation/features aren't intuitive

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would recommend making sure someone on your team has marketing automation experience, even if it's not Eloqua-specifically, because Oracle (and many of their partners/consultants) don't provide the best resources for complete marketing automation beginners. Things like best practices and high-level overviews of the capabilities of the tool aren't their strong suit - but they're great with the more technical and seasoned-automation professional questions.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Eloqua really helps automate many web and email practices, while also giving powerful personalization and segmentation opportunities. We were able to increase email engagement by about 20% in one year after implementing Eloqua and significantly reduced team member time for creating and deploying email campaigns.

"Great tool for experienced marketers"

What do you like best?

I liked the user interface and navigations. Oracle does a wonderful job of reporting and their accuracy. One of my favorite features is the Lead Scoring.

What do you dislike?

It's a big piece of software and can take some time to adjust and navigate through if you're not used to high-powered CRM systems.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It's a large system to understand and get used to using. I'd recommend paying the extra cost to have Oracle help you set up the entire system specific to your company's unique needs and either hire Oracle or a 3rd party company to come in and train your employees. It's a lot to take in and understand and I think in order to get the full Oracle Eloqua experience and accurate reporting, all employees need to know how to use the system accurately and consistent with company standards.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I used Oracle Eloqua and Siebel in the past with my home builder clients. They rely on extensive reporting as they're managing thousands of neighborhoods across the US. This system allowed them to streamline each process and report accurately on how their neighborhoods are doing in relation to sales and marketing. This data helped me look at the company's ROI and see if a shift needed to be made.

"Good tool depending on your preferences"

What do you like best?

I like the customizability that comes with Eloqua. There is a lot more flexibility with setting up campaigns/segments/etc. than with other automation tools. I like the set up of the Campaigns, where you can see the branches and arrange the steps visually in a way that makes sense to you. Eloqua is more technical than other tools, with more of an "engineer" feel rather than a "marketing" feel.

What do you dislike?

With all the customizability comes confusion and difficulty to grasp simple tasks sometimes. If you are not in Eloqua 24/7 then it is difficult to figure out how to complete simple tasks - like pulling a report. Also, there are many moving parts to creating an email campaign in Eloqua and you have to navigate to each section within Eloqua in order to create each separate part, instead of being able to do it all in one place. Besides the features, Eloqua is very very slow about 50% of the time, and work fails to be saved and gets written over often - leading to frustration and more work on my end. Visually, Eloqua is not as appealing as other automation tools. It's more text-based than icons and images. Not a deal breaker but just an observation.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are a more technical thinker, rather than visual, then Eloqua may be the tool for you.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Solving the problem of coordinating and automating email sends for hundreds of event campaigns and webinar campaigns, from the invitations to the reminder emails to the follow up emails. It allows me one place to view all my campaigns and organize my database.

"Needing a new marketing platform? Look no further than Eloqua."

What do you like best?

Eloqua is an interface that anyone with basic knowledge of marking platforms can use. It is very simply structured, making it easy to creating digital campaigns, start email groups for events, and more.

What do you dislike?

There seems to be an issue with downtime in the system. I'm not sure if it is due to scheduled maintenance or user error, but I have noticed that some of my team has expressed frustration regarding the system going down.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are looking for a complex digital marketing interface, this isn't it. However, Eloqua is great for small teams that need automated marketing features & a simple system.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Powerful and flexible, yet has some quirks"

What do you like best?

Ease of creating landing pages and emails. Generally content management is easy. Complex campaign logic is a plus. Possibility to connect it with anything you imagine- CRM, SAP, etc. Reporting is easy (though complex analytics requires special user account, which costs extra). It can handle large databases with ease (tried with +4M contacts).

What do you dislike?

Oracle often introduces technical changes which results in increased downtime and sometimes critical errors. Has "bad" days when everything works super slow. Sometimes it is too easy to hurt the database - blank contact fields unintentionally. Extra features for complex analytics and database maintenance cost extra, significantly extra.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Very powerful, but be sure to take caution and implement it correctly. Don't spare on consultants, it will payoff later.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Marketing automation - emails campaigns, landing pages, telemarketing. Our team is resposible for lead generation in a B2B environment.

"Powerful Marketing Automation"

What do you like best?

I really like the ability to use the campaign canvas to draw out your campaigns and path contacts through various steps and filters. I like the speed and power overall. List uploads are a breeze, along with email templates (creating editable or HTML version). The dynamic content is great. I really like the Filters that can be built and run against other data sets. Segmentation is also key for campaign sends.

What do you dislike?

Some of the integration & Program Builder area can be very confusing including the UI and the multiple browser windows that open when you are within the tool.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have both B2B and B2C efforts. On the B2C side it is automating our customer lifecycle from first purchase to renewal and after (lapsed). We also automate trials to our software and execute other batch/one-time promotional sends.

On the B2B side we have a customer lifecyclet track and various prospect email campaigns. Some are automated while others are batch/blast but use segments. We have seen great success on the B2C side although revenue reporting is not within Eloqua itself but can be referenced outside of the tool.

"Powerful, complex marketing solution"

What do you like best?

We've been able to use and work with the software to accomplish most of our email marketing and database goals. It's a very powerful software that can be used for many use cases-- we send our webinar, event, and nurture emails with Eloqua and use it for segmenting our database (it integrates with our CRM). Their support team has always been available and helpful.

What do you dislike?

If you're new to the software, it can take some time to become a comfortable and confident user. It seems to be outdated in some respects-- some newer functionality that you would like to use if you're keeping up with the latest marketing best practices, and that other cloud software companies seem to offer, aren't available.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would recommend prioritizing what you are looking for in a marketing automation platform and consider your options with that prioritized list in mind, to get the solution that best fits your needs.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We primarily use Eloqua to hold our contact database and for email marketing. When I joined the company, Eloqua was implemented and there was an internal expert so I haven't experienced any major problems or limitations.

"Eloqua is an Industry Standard"

What do you like best?

Eloqua is an industry standard for large organizations looking to use marketing automation. I love the flexibility and that it is extremely robust. The email editor is easy to use (although could include responsive design for folks who do not know HTML/CSS responsive email design). Segment building is VERY robust and flexible.

The product is ideal for large scale organizations with many business units and marketing managers needing to use the program because there are customized security settings that allow for each user to have unique settings.

What do you dislike?

There is a steep learning curve and some of the more advanced features are difficult to understand and take a long time to implement. (i.e. Custom Data Objects, Program Builder, APIs & Integrations, etc) Although they have been making incredible improvements to their UI in the past year.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I recommend getting deep into the Topliners community and really getting to know some of the power users. The community typically answers your exact questions. Oracle also provides GREAT step by step user guides in their Help Center here - http://docs.oracle.com/cloud/latest/marketingcs_gs/OMCAA/

"It’s a killer database, exactly what we needed to get us started with marketing automation. "

What do you like best?

Eloqua was our first “major” fully integrated marketing automation system and it really helped us launch a more cohesive and planned content marketing program. We’re a B2B company with a Complex structure of clients and prospects—and our CRM didn’t offer communication. Eloqua helped us organize and enable a marketing plan that dramatically increased our MQL recognition and truly drive leads to sales.

What do you dislike?

FYI, Q2 2017 was our last use of Eloqua, this doesn’t account for new features rolled out.

1. Not a great design editor. And, small in-house teams don’t have html folks really. We just need to produce at high volume.

2. It’s not (wasn’t) a cohesive digital tool. So other tools brought it website reporting and digital campaign tools that make reporting efforts more comprehensive.

3. When we signed on in early 2015, Training was limited to Eloqua University and CRAZY expensive per license. It also featured an outdated unfriendly user interface and restrictive viewing formats. We would not pay for that again. Eloqua’s open website community/FAQ is great. Use that! License money was wasted.

Recommendations to others considering the product

One of my favorite things about Eloqua is the account management structure. My team had a bi-weekly call with a really smart Eloqua team member, dedicated to us, which was used as a chance to walk through our real life work and projects. Our account reps were the equivalent of ongoing trainers, client services, and advocates within Oracle. Invaluable.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Helped us Organize and launch a serious B2B marketing program by helping us understand and reach our prospects (a group that also includes clients).
