"A very powerful tool of oracle"

What do you like best?

Oracle JDeveloper is a very good and very powerful development environment that tries to simplify tasks and help when developing it.

JDeveloper integrates several development environments such as: HTML, Java, XML, PHP and databases.

I like how Oracle JDeveloper always looks for ways to simplify tasks at the time of development and with a simple "next, next, next" can develop extensive lines of code and templates to simplify the development of a code.

It has a very comfortable, intuitive and easy to use interface for the user and is developed in several languages, which I think is great.

What do you dislike?

Oracle JDeveloper is a very very heavy program. it always takes a long time to run, its load and runtime really should improve, I find it very slow and when installing this application its configuration can be complicated and tedious.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Oracle JDeveloper is a very powerful tool when you want to develop HTML, PHP, Java, XML and SQL languages.

It is a really good software that helps a lot in the development and always tries to simplify the development of the code, which makes it a good tool to save time and money.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As a SOA consultant, I always use Oracle JDeveloper in its 11g version. I think that this version is the best one that develops in this branch.

I use JDeveloper as a tool to create JCA adapters for SOA service operations that helps me and simplifies the work by generating several XML files essential for the development of an SOA web service.

It is a tool that helps me save a lot of time in the development of work.

"Oracle recommends JDeveloper. If he says it, it should be done."

What do you like best?

JDeveloper is Oracle's category tool for the development of high-level enterprise applications and a robust architecture, perfect for scalable and powerful maintenance. The development of applications in Oracle JDeveloper is based on a graphical model, where you can create templates, task flow, active directories, security in applications; related to J2EE architecture and JSF as its most powerful use.

You can do several projects, be it Java, Struts, JSF, ADF, Integration with Excel. Tool currently in use by the company. More than anyone, he has given us benefits for his unification of work in all layers of architecture.

What do you dislike?

JDeveloper, like some Oracle products, is extremely heavy. To perform jobs and run packages and perform a runtime in a time that takes a long time, once it requires a large disk space and consumes much more RAM to maintain its operations.

It often has errors or unmanageable errors, which can only be resolved by closing or restarting the application, it should not be so, but if it is not executed, the development can not be continued.

The connectivity that the IDE makes with a server computer, either physical or in the cloud, is unstable in many cases. It always fails, and adjustments must be made constantly in that area.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I consider it a complete IDE, it has tools and features that make it unique. Especially for the unified work mode between layers. You can develop a complete commercial application with this powerful IDE. They should review the problem of excessive memory usage, perhaps the migration of some internal processes to requests for external packages or services.

IDE of high quality, but the environment where it operates is very expensive. All the infrastructure that revolves around Oracle JDeveloper is expensive, and its maintenance and version should always be evaluated in finance.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Oracle JDevelper has allowed us to develop high level commercial applications, with a quality in each outstanding process. The unified development of the layers in the IDE makes it much more powerful and customer delivery times have grown considerably since its use in the company.

What Integrated Development Environment (IDE) solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Oracle JDeveloper IDE one stop solution"

What do you like best?

Oracle JDeveloper is best IDE for SOA /Java Based solutions. as it has resources palette , connection to SVN ,GIT or any configuration management plugins within same IDE , Also it does have support for MDS which is best part you can deploy using Jdeveloper itself

What do you dislike?

it takes lot of CPU and memory and sometimes hangs a lot , Also there is no utility to shutdown the process only way is to kill the process

Recommendations to others considering the product

it is very good tool and easy to use so that it can be utilised to developed soa based solutions and java/j2ee/ejb , developers doesnt require to install another tool like OEPE or eclipse or similar tool to start doing development. Also it does has database support plugin where you can run the query right from the tool so developer or support team doesnt require to install tool like sqldeveloper or similar tools . Also as it has good support for configuration management you can directly checkin or merge or see the difference of the codebase you are checkin in to support the development. In 12c you can directly do one level of developmenmt across multiple platform to support the development so that you require only one tool to work on oracle middleware stack and its related technology , this is really cool if you are working on different IDE for different codebase on oracle fusion middleware products

"El mejor entorno de programación de Java y Javascript"

What do you like best?

What do you dislike?

Recommendations to others considering the product

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"A really good tool of Oracle"

What do you like best?

It is a very good development environment, it can be used for Java, XML, HTML and other languages. I can create Java programs easily and quickly on my computer, so that they work later on any hardware platform. Its interface is very comfortable and intuitive so it is easy to understand every functionality of the JDeveloper.

What I like the most about its functionalities is that it has a group of integrated builders, wizards for the creation of new components, previsualizers and appropriate palettes, allowing developers an easy and sophisticated construction, multi-language interactive data forms, reports and graphics. .

Jdeveloer offers me the necessary tools for the creation of SOA services, generating the JCA for the operation of the service, it is something I do frequently in my current job and from the beginning I found it easy to use, which is why I liked it a lot.

What do you dislike?

It is very slow when opening.

It is very heavy and therefore makes the execution of programs slow.

It has happened to me that when I want to create a new project and use the Wizard to search for the project to be carried out, I do not see the option I want.

Its installation and configuration can be tedious.

It is buggy and crashes many times espeically when one does refactoring or deleting some resources

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As a SOA consultant, I can safely say that the Jdeveloper has helped me a lot, usually I have to create many services with Service Oriented Architecture and the tool makes it much easier.

"It Get's the Job Done but It's Not My Favorite"

What do you like best?

I can get all my orders in with this system. I can find the majority of what I need about the products I sell.

What do you dislike?

This does not integrate well with the other programs I use. It has a ton of weird quirks that you have to learn from someone who has been using it longer than you. It breaks down all the time and then we are at a standstill across the company. The way you search in JDE is ridiculous. It is incredibly hard to find anything. Everything is broken up into multiple places, so you have to have multiple windows open all the time.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make it easy to use. Please take out all the bugs. There are so many weird things that happen in JDE, it is a pain to use and train people in.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We enter all of our orders, our warehouse does all of our shipping out of JDE and we put all of our product info and customer service notes into JDE. It does get the job done.

"Good Software but need improvement"

What do you like best?

JDeveloper is an instrument created by Oracle to deal with the lifecycle of a created bit of programming. It's free, which is awesome, however there is almost no group bolster since it isn't so generally utilized nowadays. By and by, I was working with a task which utilized some inheritance web administrations (especially, the Oracle Application Development Framework) so utilizing JDeveloper to investigate these administrations was an easy decision.

What do you dislike?

In case I'm looking into a client I don't care for how it doesn't demonstrate the client name. It just shows client number then I need to snap to the following page. On the off chance that there are various clients that I have to find in a bunch it's exceptionally tedious clicking every individual connection.

Recommendations to others considering the product

In the event that you should investigate and create utilizing Oracle's ADF, at that point look no more remote than Oracle JDeveloper since there aren't any options. In the event that you don't have that prerequisite, I would search somewhere else for a free IDE.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Operation related issues, Oracle serves our distribution center administration frameworks this incorporates inbound, outbound production network capacities

"JDeveloper 11g"

What do you like best?

- It is based on MVC pattern and cleanly separates your business logic from presentation layer.

- It has built in support for AJAX

- Very rapid development because most of the development one can do declaratively by just drag and drop components on pages and like that

- Most important and exciting feature from me was very good support of LOV. LOV is required in almost every business application and with ADF i don't have to do any code for LOV just a query and some very small configurations and that's it.

- Rich Tables supporting LOV, combo box and others.

- It provides good hooks to develop own framework or utility classes to suit development e.g. I want to extend all entities from my own class and i can do it very easily.

- One of the unique feature of ADF 11g is ADF Task flow which faciliates developer to define reusable navigation and avoid cluttering of all navigation rules in one file which happens in JSF

What do you dislike?

JDeveloper is buggy and crashes many times espeically when one does refactoring or deleting some resources

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Oracle JDeveloper Opinion"

What do you like best?

What do you dislike?

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"can be customized for your company's needs "

What do you like best?

I like how you can customize oracle to fit your company's needs. I've worked at two different companies who use it in two completely different ways. One used it nationally for salespeople to request designs and for designers to submit them. They also used to create PO’s for their clients. The company I work for now also used it nationally to organize thousands of different product so that people all over the world can look up a sku and receive all the details for it.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes you have to do a lot of clicking on different links to get to a certain place and that can be annoying.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have realized that Oracle is a great way to organize data for a large company with many offices in different places.

"Jdeveloper for interface development"

What do you like best?

Great product for the money.Navigation is not intuitive as it should have been. I really like Jdeveloper for SOAP interface and web service development and the support community by Oracle is great.Very powerful software. All product has been good to this point, product support has been current and up to date, very helpful.

What do you dislike?

Initial installation steps were not much clear as there were two files required for installation. I was not sure which file to start with. Not supporting Groovi development language yet.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I recently started using it for one of our loan center projects. I used it for web service development which could act for standalone services for mortgage clients.

"Slow but with lots of rich features"

What do you like best?

i have used it with ADF and BPEL plug ins. i like the simple drag and drop feature of it.

you can create a very rich and awesome adf page in only few minutes. i has lots of inbuild templates for creating various webpage components.

Oracle SOA middleware is fully dependent on this IDE now. you can create awesome flow by performing some drag and drop steps.

What do you dislike?

the latest version of this IDE is around 3.5 GB large. the large size makes it very slow on old devices (devices with less memory). even after Oracle's lots of efforts ,it still have plenty of bugs. installation take much time.

Recommendations to others considering the product

if you want to support / do rapid development, try this.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

i was using this IDE for ADF and Middleware(BPEL) development. only benefit is, the development is very faster with its drag and drop feature.

"A robust and reliable software"

What do you like best?

It is a robust software that does what it is supposed to. Not had any downtime with it and once connected, it is quick and nimble. Tons of features! There are lots of things to

What do you dislike?

A bit of a learning curve involved, especially with our current (albeit slightly outdated) edition. There are a lot of hidden layers within the software. It can be a bit intimidating if you don't know how to navigate the system.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The JDeveloper is used in conjunction with the business services development. The system, built on top of the Java Platform Enterprise edition makes updates, and debugging a breeze. Our Business Services development is used for our every-day activities such as: order entry, inventory checking, management, purchasing, managing transfers between branches, etc. A few keystrokes quickly produce whatever information we are looking for.

"Started my career with Java and no looking back"

What do you like best?

When Java came it had trimmed out all the difficult features of C++ or C including multiple inheritance and pointers which may be for a hands on C developer may love this feature and hate Java for not having it, but in turn it came as a blessing for me.

What do you dislike?

As of now not much apart from not getting much tutorial when new versions of OracleJ Developer gets launched immediately unlike Eclipse where we have numerous tutorials available.

Recommendations to others considering the product

For a start I would definitely recommend Oracle JDeveloper.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As the link of Oracle on Java download says, Java is now running on 2 million plus devices, including web, mobile, backend, database etc. It has rightly said that since I have been using Oracle JDeveloper right from web-designing, backend and mobile.

"Looks bad, works bad"

What do you like best?

Actually I don't really like this IDE, it was the worst IDE I had to test for Java

What do you dislike?

Actually first of all it forced me to use an old JDK (1.6) while I had 1.8 by default so the library I was testing on, showed some issues in compilation with mismatch version of the JDKs. So I had to do some research to know how the ....I changed that, and well, I didn't even know how to compile and debug and a lot of wrong stuff with this IDE

Recommendations to others considering the product

Don't use it, use NetBeans or other because this one, is very bad.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

None, I was just helping a client with some issues using JDeveloper, at the end, she choose to leave it and use NetBeans instead of JDeveloper.

"Mi primer entorno de desarrollor para Java en Paquete Oracle"

What do you like best?

What do you dislike?

Recommendations to others considering the product

"Visual and Integrating while coding"

What do you like best?

The version that i used 11g, it was a great software version. It was a little easier to create code and modify the structure in the project that your working in.

I found it easier to bind components and drag n drop and linking them. All this is easily done while using their visual interface.

I like that they have some simple templates and layouts. nothing fancy but enough to use the visual editor to create something simple for what your working on.

I eventually stopped working with JD since it wasn't a very big demand with my working projects.

What do you dislike?

I wish it had more components in the visual editor section.

some areas was a little confusing with its navigation but i think i found it easier once i got to the coding.

for some reason i found a little bit of trouble when i would bind some of the tables. not sure why but i would work every so often.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If your strong in coding, or have a great experience in multiple languages, than you will have fun with this software. i found it easier once i started coding rather than trying to do what i wanted to do with the visual interface.

i recommend training because JD has lots of features that are very helpful. also look for websites if you get stuck on something, because there lots of forums with many helpful guides and tips & tricks.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

training for using some of the features is a must to fully utilize the software.

"Jdeveloper is a Simplified Application Development software"

What do you like best?

I have been using this Oracle Jdeveloper since last 1 year and its simply amazing to have all the development life cycle all at one place i.e Jdeveloper. It supports design through coding, debugging and deploying the code. I like its visual approach to application development. With the good support for the enterprise software development options it became my favorite software for we development. Best application development.

What do you dislike?

Most important thing that comes into mind while thinking of the disadvantages of Jdeveloper is its limited support for mobile development. Even the support for desktop environment is limited and very poor. It also has very limited uptake of Integrated development environment.

"Dated Looking, but Useful"

What do you like best?

JDeveloper is a tool developed by Oracle to manage the lifecycle of a developed piece of software. It's free, which is fantastic, but there is very little community support since it isn't so widely used these days. Personally, I was working with a project which used some legacy web services (particularly, the Oracle Application Development Framework) so using JDeveloper to debug these services was a no-brainer.

What do you dislike?

The UI is very outdated and feels archaic for 2016. Other IDEs provide a much richer UI that also gives the developer more options when writing and testing code. I've used JDeveloper on both OSX and Windows, but I have more experience using the OSX version. From my experience, it was fairly buggy and would crash often.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you must debug and develop using Oracle's ADF, then look no further than Oracle JDeveloper since there aren't any alternatives. If you do not have that requirement, I would look elsewhere for a free IDE.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I would have not chosen JDeveloper as an IDE unless I was using a project which utilized web services using Oracle ADF. Since I needed to debug ADF, JDeveloper was a must.

What do you like best?

Ease of use and flexibility is way better than forms development.

What do you dislike?

In one of the earlier versions of Jdeveloper setup took lot time as because of the bug in the JAR file. Other than that it would have been a nicer option to save the development versions while developing in Jdeveloper.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It is way more powerful that older form builder and also gives more flexibility while coding complex scenarios.
