What do you like best?
PagePlus is an easy to use and relatively powerful desktop publishing program.
It comes in Windows only version and its minimum system requirements are modest, however, you would want a more powerful PC for longer documents. It is also available in a free version with limited functionality (but still supports advanced features such as master pages and styles).
You can create documents for either print or PDF export using its easy to use layout tools.
You can start from a blank page or use one of the supplied templates (many are included with the purchase). The interface is clean and easy to navigate.
It works well with other Serif products.
Price is very reasonable compare to some of the competition.
What do you dislike?
For most of the basic usage, PagePlus is a very capable desktop publisher, however, it is not suitable for long and complex documents or books.
If you are familiar with similar desktop publishing applications (by Adobe or Corel), your learning curve may be steep, but not too bad.
If you have an office 365 subscription, you get a free copy of Microsoft Publisher which has many of the PagePlus capabilities.
Some minor bugs may occur from time to time, such as problems with importing PDFs and a (not too common) crash of the entire application.
No direct import from other desktop publishing application.
