"La mejor distribución Debian/Linux para nuestra pequeña Pi."

What do you like best?

What do you dislike?

Recommendations to others considering the product

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Nice port of debian to raspberry pi"

What do you like best?

Its a very good software and its well developed, as is based on debian you have tons and tons of support channels and people happy to help you. Its very well optimizated and its one of the best OS for RPI3 to make sort of projects.

If you need a OS that is based on debian and high performance for RPI3 this is the choice to go!

What do you dislike?

I only dislike one thing, the OS gets little bit stuck in some operations like apt install and upgrade but its normal due to RPI3 low specs

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you want lightweight and powerful OS to manage your RPI3 o make a project you should use this.

You can make tons of things with it as is linux based

You need some linux basic knowledge to use this

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have done some cinema displays to show off the film and the time to go with raspbian and a RPI3 for a local cinema

What Operating System solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Great linux distro built perfectly for the raspberry pi"

What do you like best?

Raspbian makes it easy for me to customize and build our pis. I can easily swap configurations throughout all of our Pis and be certain it will work every time.

What do you dislike?

It can sometimes be difficult to troubleshoot problems. I probably am not experienced enough to say that, but since it's built for a ARM processor and the raspberry pi, some less common tasks (connecting to a MS SQL Server via a odbc) can be harder to accomplish. That task specifically took me a couple days to solve, but it was able to do it.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Confirm that your goal is attainable using ARM processors. This was not a problem for us before or after implementing, but it is an important consideration.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I can deploy software anywhere in my warehouse easily with raspbian and a raspberry pi. Most of the software is for visibility only. However, raspbian made it easy for me to develop a central "box" with GPIO buttons and a barcode scanner as inputs using python.

"Best tool for sensor R&D"

What do you like best?

I love the fact that Raspbian can be deployed rapidly on small single board computers like the Raspberry Pi. This low cost platform is used all the time in our R&D efforts to design low cost rapidly deployable sensors. It also allows us to equip our student researchers with their own development platform instead of a single multiuser server.

What do you dislike?

Some of the proprietary ARM based libraries are difficult to work with. It is not a major inconvenience but is something to consider. ARM compatibility is the largest negative issue when working with Raspbian.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Buy more than one Raspbian platform. Their low cost makes parallelizing development very easy to implement.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Low cost sensor development at a university. We've been able to lower our operating costs without compromising on the quality of our work.

"Good fork of Debian for low performance computers."

What do you like best?

Raspbian it's a very small size operative system focused in use in Raspberry Pi's or very small and simple PC's. The best of Raspbian, is that spends very few resources, so you can run it in a low performance computer like a raspberry. Another interesting thing, is that works like with the basis of Debian, that means that there are kernels available and some of the packages are also available, some others you needs to recompile, but in general it's easy

What do you dislike?

Raspbian works with ARM computers, that means that some of the packages compiled in x86 architecture will not be compatible with Raspbian until them are recompiled.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It's the best operative system to use in raspberry boards. It's fast and very light weigh.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use Raspbian in some Raspberry boards, to do some tasks with them, like small services that we need to test before move to production. Also we use it as development boards.

"Fast and simple OS"

What do you like best?

Easy to install. Runs on Raspberry Pi and have all you need on board with GUI! Browser, text editor and so on.

What do you dislike?

It is based on linux, but with ARM architecture. So you can't just install any linux app. And this is a problem. There is no a lot of apps on it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I use it to run a webpage in kiosk mode on LED TV screen. Modern TV has build-in browser and WiFi, but older models have not. Portable PC is rather expensive, but Raspberry Pi with installed Rasbian on it is a great cheap solution

"Debian port made good"

What do you like best?

The minimal image. The support you have from the community. The access to the GPIO. The raspberry Pi team makes this product very easy to buy and easy to deploy. The software included for children to learn programming is a good point for those who use it.

What do you dislike?

That the repositories are only in the UK. If they fail, we have no updates! Meanwhile, Debian repositories can be found all around the world. The accessories also are a bit expensive. Maybe because it is all UK-centered.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Best for mobile projects

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are building a portable "click-and-serve" for wifi vouchers. Raspbian is ideal because we just have to deal with Python and the GPIO and it works great. If we use another distro, the battery would drain faster.

"Raspbian on a Pi"

What do you like best?

This is a nice implementation of Linux. It has been easy to configure and has everything you would expect on a Linux based system.

What do you dislike?

On some of the earlier versions there wasn't a very good browser available. The newer browser options work much better. I use Chromium most of the time but it seems to be a memory hog but powerful. I use other browsers if I have memory concern.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Raspbian keeps getting better.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have been using Raspbian with Node-red on my customer site. The system has been very stable without any crashes and it has run nonstop for over 1.5 months. I clear the cashe regularly just in case there is any memory leak.

"Raspian is a light-weight and very friendly Linux version"

What do you like best?

Versatility is my favorite feature of Raspian. Like other flavors of Linux, this operating system can be used in a variety of ways, but Raspian has a smaller footprint and is designed to be used on the Raspberry Pi. This is useful in just about any project that has limited space, but needs computing power. There are many users that use this system to run older arcade games, among other uses.

What do you dislike?

I have no dislikes at this time. That's not to say there aren't bad features with it, its just that I haven't ran across them yet.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Raspian is a Linux OS. If you are comfortable with Linux, this should be no problem for you. If you are not comfortable with Linux, there are many forums and websites that can help. Raspian has both a command line interface and a desktop environment to work with.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have designed and built an attendance tracking system for classrooms with the Raspian operating system.
