"Powerful Document Review Software"

What do you like best?

Relativity is extremely easy to use and provides a vast array of functionality. The tool can be used for the simplest of review projects by searching, coding and printing, all the way through to the most complex matters using Technology Assisted Review and advanced analytics features in order to get through vast amounts of data very quickly.

What do you dislike?

Mostly the tool is great, there are a few issues and obvious features missing, That being said the community behind Relativity is good and any issues are addressed quickly and feature request are considered and implemented if enough people are interested in them.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We solve problems for a wide array of clients including law firms, corporates and government agencies. The biggest problem is the size of data, Relativity allows us to quickly and efficiently process large amounts of data, cull data through traditional techniques such as searching or more advanced techniques such as email threading of predictive coding. We can setup custom work flows and use third party applications for audio and video review, contract review and document translation.

We have also become a RelativityOne certified partner in the UK and US, and the introduction to RelativityOne in additional countries means that we can spin up an instance in any of these countries quickly without the expensive data centre requirements.

"Relativity - Excellent Document Review and Production Product"

What do you like best?

Relativity provides a great platform which is intuitive for non-techies to use. In addition, knowing how the back end works, you can build into it custom processes and procedures (scrips, apps, etc.) to customize your workflows. It also allows for easy and consistent checks for inconsistent document coding, issues within productions, and post-production QC.

What do you dislike?

Often upgrades can cause inadvertent issues with other aspects of the workspace (i.e. the most recent upgrade cause the Date fields to normalize incorrectly when building searches). These are usually quickly addressed and repaired by Relativity.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Reach out to get demos and/or review the Relativity website - they have a TON of helpful and useful videos.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use it to assist our clients in doing culling data collections in responding to arbitration, litigation, and regulatory requests for information. The processing allows for reduced costs and simple review for inexperienced users.

"Flexible eDiscovery review platform with easier administrative functions"

What do you like best?

Full flexibility to do a wide variety of functions, while maintaining a fairly easy and consistent approach to administrative tasks; ease of creating your own add-ons via SQL scripts, or even creating Relativity Applications. Filtering on fields is quite user-friendly, and the Field Tree that can provide one-click access to any field designated to be displayed on that list is useful. I like the dashboards in the new UI and the ability to organize (and re-organize) saved searches into folders and subfolders. I really like Categorization and the ease of email threading.

What do you dislike?

I initially disliked the rather old-fashioned look, which kind of makes me think Windows 2000. But I got over it. I find the pivots a bit limited if you try to create one with large amounts of data. Because they are created on the fly each time, they choke on larger amounts; whereas if it allowed you to create one in the back end and simply save it as static, it could do more. I wish the List function would permit addition and deletion of docs to an existing List.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

My computer is an eDiscovery service provider and therefore we provide the use of Relativity (among other products) to our clients. While we also offer Ringtail (which I believe is the other top eDiscovery platform), Relativity has been better known in the marketplace for the last 10 years and therefore has more brand recognition.

"The most well known and respected eDiscovery platform to date"

What do you like best?

When we mention to client's that we can provide hosting on our Relativity instance, we never have to explain what it is, or how it is better than the competition. The client will already know of it, or has been trained on how to use it.

What do you dislike?

Upgrading to newer versions can be quite difficult, however if we ever run into a problem, the 24 hour support staff are always there to help. We have upgraded twice, from 8.2 to 9.2 and then again from 9.2 to 9.4. The last upgrade was noticeably easier than the first, but still not foolproof..But I'm confident that in the future, it will be a more streamlined process.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Simply put, I believe that it will be the standard for how eDiscovery platforms should be. We were lucky enough to begin using it early, and we haven't looked back.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

For our business, we require a secure and large scale review platform that can be accessed from anywhere the client requires. This has not let us down yet on that aspect.

The analytics functionality also significantly reduces review time and costs for the clients, which they appreciate.

"Great Ediscovery tool"

What do you like best?

I like that Relativity is a simple platform for users that they can do a 30 min training and be ready to review. I also enjoy the fact that from an admin side that it is more stable than other ediscovery that I have used.

What do you dislike?

I feel like some of the set-up/ upgrades have become bloated over the time that I have used Relativity. There are parts that are great such as having a response file that auto populates for items within the installer but if something goes wrong there is a lot of logs to go through to get to the issue.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would highly recommend using Relativity. If you are concerned possibly see about trying a case with a Hosting partner and if it meets your needs look into possibly bringing it in house or working further with a hosting partner.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are being able to provide our partners with fast turn around and give them the ability to review their cases quickly and be prepared for what they need. Improvements over the years with the software have given the ability to freeze up some time and discover better work flows.

"The More You Use It, The More You Learn About Your Case"

What do you like best?

Easy to keep the data from all parties organized so that the legal team can do the searches, document reviews and deposition/hearing/trial preparation efficiently and seamlessly.

What do you dislike?

It takes a lot of clicks to get to where you need to go. There is a learning curve to understand how to use Relativity.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Relativity's learning curve is a bit steep, but if you understand how a database works and what fields are and are not, you can learn it. Relativity has a great training center for you to learn how to use Relativity, whether it is the front-end user or the back-end administrator. Relativity is already the 800 pound gorilla in the litigation support and trial technology room. Once Relativity is able to get Case Dynamics, transcripts with synced video, and a trial presentation aspect all rolled into one, Relativity will become the King Kong of trial technology.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Tracking the efficiency of document review and using analytics to cull down the number of documents needed for review. The costs of implementing and using on-prem Relativity in-house is recouped through tech and project management billing to the client.

"Powerful tool but could be more user friendly"

What do you like best?

Relativity provides an extensive range of parameters to use to perform a document search. This can be particularly useful when trying to hone in on a document among millions of a very specific nature with little detail know.

What do you dislike?

Among its shortcomings:

- Searches are slow

- Interface requires too many clicks

- Downloads over 90MB fail/timeout (possibly by design)

- Not particularly user-friendly

Recommendations to others considering the product

Before diving into Relativity, make sure to review best practices and training to ensure that you use Relativity to its full potential. Just performing searches by "keyword' instead of being concise with the numerous individual criteria possible will generally yield poor results (i.e. 1000+ results or none at all). There are features that even tech-savvy people would find difficult to interpret without receiving training.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Relativity has the potential to streamline the eDiscovery process for a wide range of legal proceedings which require reviewing massive amounts of documents and media.

"Streamlined Discovery"

What do you like best?

Tagging features and analytics make it easy to gain a clear snapshot of the review universe. Additionally, the ability to use multiple persistent highlight sets makes it easy to identify key terms or people in documents as well as quickly identify privileged material.

What do you dislike?

Many features are script-based, often long-running scripts, that can cause the program to timeout or experience latency. There is also not much flexibility in customizing the appearance or setup of the work space. The new user interface is also less intuitive than previous renditions. Finally, when you click through a link to a document, it will open in a new window, kicking you out of what you were working on prior to viewing that document. In prior versions, a user was able to have multiple instances of the program open in different windows.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Learn to use the advanced features. While it is easy to set up a basic routine within the software, you can fully leverage it by utilizing advances searching features as well as tagging options and analytics.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Managing e-discovery document universes for large scale litigation. The program allows you to organize, categorize, and process discovery productions.

"great product "

What do you like best?

good product. best for legal software work for litigation. recommend it. Easy to upload and access data. Kcura is very helpful in resolving issues as well in real time.

What do you dislike?

cant reverse bulk coding and also cant code in list view. Bulk coding in list view is available for Ringtail so it would be nice to have these featured in Relativity.

Recommendations to others considering the product

get it. worth the money. It takes time to get used to it but once you do it you will not go back to the paper way of doing discoveries.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

litigating with millions of documents is made feasible now. It is very easy to conduct discoveries now with fact manager. This is a very efficient tool for lawyers to use to manage data sets and find relevant and hot documents.

"Director of a managed review vendor with more than 6 years of experience with Relativity."

What do you like best?

I think it is by far the best tool from the admin side. I like the searching functionality and the visualization tools. I also like the documentation and training that is available. Every time I end up having to use another platform I always end up asking if it can do some of the things that Relativity does and the other products always come up short.

What do you dislike?

Many of the things I used to have on my wish list of things I wanted to be able to do in Relativity have become reality with the latest versions that have been released. The dashboards and visualizations have eliminated a lot of manual work of runny talleys and exporting data into Excel. The only thing I can think of that is still on my wish list is the ability to remove boilerplate email footers from the dtSearch index. Relativity allows you to do this on the analytics index and has recipes to modify STRs to exclude hits on known boilerplate language. It seems to me Relativity has the ability to exclude such language from the dtSearch index, but for some reason does not support it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are building custom dashboards and incorporating them into our workplace templates to streamline and standardize our QC workflows. We are very excited to get our hands on the active learning predictive coding in the near future.

"User-friendly and best support team around"

What do you like best?

The majority of the software is intuitive, which makes training users easy. Also, since all of the documentation is available online, with a click of a button, users can learn on their own schedule. When questions arise that can't be solved using the online documentation, the support team is there to assist at all hours of the day/night.

What do you dislike?

The issue that causes the most pain is memory and/or viewer issues. It doesn't matter which browser is used, after reviewing so many documents you will have to exit out and log back in. Most of my other dislikes are very specific to our instance - prior upgrade issues, slowness, processing issues.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Read through the online documentation to get a feel of what capabilities are available. reaching out to current users is helpful also.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use Relativity for all things document management - processing, loading, batching, reviewing, producing. Having one system to do everything has saved countless hours.

"Relativity Experience"

What do you like best?

The interface is very intuitive. I like the fact you can build your own applications for reuse. Beyond the program, I really like how every person I've dealt with at Relativity is committed to providing the best user experience possible.

What do you dislike?

I dislike the price. Also, there's no flexibility if we need to add features to our subscription -- we have to tear up and renew for another three years. It's is extremely difficult to predict what our needs are in three years.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you purchase the product for in-house, make sure to plan for the expense of hardware/software AND people support. They will need continuing training throughout the life of the product.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We wanted to have an online solution for our small to medium clients that was affordable and easy to use. Relativity has made us competitive in the marketplace.

"Amazing networking experience"

What do you like best?

The technical talks were excellent. The hands on sessions were really useful to see how the technology in Relativity could be applied to real time data. The events celebrating the success of the company were well organised and made you feel as though all of the Relativity users are one.

What do you dislike?

The lack of mobile webinars, there were talks on how to get data from Forensic software from excel into Relativity but there was no mention how you could integrate functionality in Forensic software directly to the Relativity interface.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The issue of handling large volumes of data, often we get cases where there are many custodians who each have different data sources from different devices. How we handle the data is extremely important as data on different devices are not stored in the same manner and in the same format.

"Relativity is the Premier eDiscovery Platform on the Market"

What do you like best?

Relativity covers all bases of a vendors needs. In our use of the platform we have taken advantage of Relativity processing all the way through production. The interface is consistent in intuitive throughout. For example, if you started out using just Relativity Processing, you would find the overall atheistic of Assisted Review extremely similar and easy to pick up.

In addition, the support staff is fantastic. They are knowledgeable and help facilitate the vendor side fluency in all platform functionality. You develop relationships with individual members and they are great to work with.

What do you dislike?

While there isn't much, the main complaint is that all functions have a decent amount of functionality, but it is not as robust as some standalone applications. For example, you'll get more processing options in Nuix, more production options in LAW, better Predictive Coding options in Brainspace.

This doesn't necessarily mean Relativity can't perform complex workflows, but it means some more robust functionality in these areas is not available out of the box.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Set up can be challenging, but it is worth the payoff once the environment is up and running

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have realized huge benefits migrating data from other vendors to Relativity. Getting data in and out of Relativity, either through ARM or flat file imports/exports, is very user friendly.

We have loaded in over 100 TBs of migrated data alone from other vendors. This has been a huge advantage for us organizationally.

"5 Year Relativity administrator and user."

What do you like best?

Scalability, Security model and Customisation capabilities. The user interface is extremely simple for reviewers and can be made extremely simple to use. Workflow customisation and flexibility. Ability to add custom objects and applications as well as scripts. Built in analytics capabilities leverage technology to assist in reducing review time and time to production, therefore, decreasing overall cost.

What do you dislike?

Transcript functionality (or lack thereof) and lack of Email Conversation analytics. Layout and tagging rules are too complicated for most users and admins. This functionality needs to be made simpler and more intuitive. Allowing users to add documents to the system on the fly with a simple user interface would also be a valuable feature. Also, allowing documents to be added in a repository other than the document repository (aka:, pleadings or review guides, case setup guides, training manuals etc). The lack of a separate folder panel to allow storage of document collections (similar to saved searches but more static). The current folder view only allows a document to exist in a single folder. There should be the ability to store documents in multiple folders by Production or collections by user or public. This would combine the functionality of saved searches and static lists while maintaining the original folder path on a separate tab.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Relativity can be made as simple or as complex to use as your workflow requires. It is highly flexible and customisable. Reviewers can start using the tool in as little as 10 minutes after first login.

"A solid tool for getting work done, and a great platform for development"

What do you like best?

As a developer, I love that I can leverage Relativity to create powerful applications for our partners to use that don't require extra hardware.

What do you dislike?

There is a bit of a learning curve when beginning with Relativity development, and there are numerous ways to accomplish a given task and it isn't always clear which approaches are deprecated.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Don't hesitate to reach out to the Relativity community to ask questions - everyone has been incredibly helpful in responding to questions and generally helping newbies get up and running.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our team is building tools to streamline the contract review process and make it smarter. The benefits our partners see is that they're able to quickly get to the sections of contracts that are most potentially problematic, saving resources for them and their clients.

"Great Platform"

What do you like best?

Ease of use combined with limitless potential. The out-of-the-box product works exactly as it should, but you can really expand the product once deployed to get it to work for you.

What do you dislike?

The cost of running some of the advanced operations can be somewhat prohibitive. There are a lot of 3rd party applications that compete with these advanced operations, so there is potential to expand the platform.

Recommendations to others considering the product

While Relativity may not be the cheapest product on the market, if you intend on running multiple workspaces inside an environment over the long term, the ease of use and power behind the platform makes it a must-have.

"Long time administrative user of good product."

What do you like best?

I like how easy it is for new users to get started with limited functionality in Relativity and expand their use as their comfort and knowledge expands.

What do you dislike?

I don't like the lack of transparency and customization in the processing engine. I want to be able to have more control over what is published and what is suppressed.

Recommendations to others considering the product

There is a lot to learn, I would recommend hiring someone with advanced experience, or sending your team for extensive training before installing Relativity in house.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Relativity allows us to quickly process data and get it in front of attorney's in offices all over the US. "Its a fully featured and robust solution to managing large data"

What do you like best?

The support at Relativity is the best I have experienced with any platform. The look and feel of Relativity for the end user.

What do you dislike?

I don't like when including families in a result set, you can't clearly see the original hitting documents vs the extra documents that were bought in because they are family members. It means I have to tag the hits, show the tag on the view, and then bring the families in again to make that analysis.

"Excellent Document Management System"

What do you like best?

As a system administrator, Relativity offers the opportunity to customise a workspace to suit your company's own workflows. There are very few limits as to what you can change.

What do you dislike?

One minor issue is that when producing documents, if you want these documents to be text searchable, you must run a third party OCR tool over them.

Recommendations to others considering the product

One needs to thinks about the cost and what you will be using it for. While Relativity is expensive, it also has amazing analytics features and other tools to help reviewers and system administrators.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Relativity finds important files faster"

What do you like best?

Analytics and the powerful search functionality allows investigation teams to find the files they need faster. Case Dynamics allows investigations to be organized logically. Review of files is made easy by customizing coding panels.

What do you dislike?

We have found that getting consistency across applications has been a problem. For example, we have found that date formats across applications are not consistent.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I highly recommend Relativity. The product is intuitive to use at a basic level but also has great advanced features that can be used as you become more experienced.

"Gets the Job Done"

What do you like best?

Relativity is a fairly easy program to manage and review documents with, but only if you've had training. I like that there can be multiple "sites" and sections and that you can save searches for document productions and label documents as such.

What do you dislike?

I do not like that the program is not user friendly. I am also not the most computer savvy individual. Once trained with Relativity, the program is fairly simple to use, but until you've been trained, it's a bit complicated and overwhelming.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Relativity is a great document production database that has multiple options for labeling and categorizing client materials and documents in general. I personally suggest having a training session for all of those using the program prior to launching it with your firm to reduce confusion.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Comprehensive E-Disovery"

What do you like best?

I liked the ease of use with Relativity. It is very easy to set up searches, to organize content and preserve information. The UI itself is very easy to navigate, and also very easy to conform to your individual document management needs. Setting up coding panels for different matters is a fairly easy process, and developing 'buckets' based on your searches is easy as well.

What do you dislike?

There are some features of Relativity that are not as easy to navigate at first glance. I also dislike that, at least for the version of Relativity we were using, it took multiple steps to save and print files as PDFs. Also some of the search functions are not as friendly. While it is easy to set up certain searches, other types of searches can get 'hung up' in larger document populations. Also the fact that certain file types cannot be opened, at least in the versions of Relativity I used.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure that your e-discovery vendor is comfortable and knowledgeable about all of the features of Relativity so that they can support you with some of the most advanced settings and capabilities.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were able to preserve documents through Relativity, organizing them for a litigation matter in a way that makes it easy to find the documents we are looking for. We were able to save an entire backup of our production on Relativity, as well as see what documents had already been produced to OC.

"User Friendly and a very Intuitive tool"

What do you like best?

The best part about Relativity is its User Interface, You would be at comfort within a week or so working with this tool. And you could even be advance user just within 6 months of working on this tool. Circle pack Visualization is a very impressive feature. Dashboard is also a fantastic feature to present data visualization to client.

What do you dislike?

Not much promising in Processing, also no support for AD1 files, though I am fully aware that AD1 file's full specification is not available publicly which is must needed for Support.

More custom ways to name a record exported out from a Production set is required.

"We use Relativity for a few of our larger ESI-heavy cases."

What do you like best?

Relativity has become the industry standard for large scale ediscovery review. All ESI processing vendors understand the requirements for loading native discovery into Relativity, managing case flow, etc. We like that Relativity is a "common language" between parties, and that many best practices have been established with this product. In our use case, the environment is vendor-managed and maintained, which makes the process that much simpler.

What do you dislike?

Vendor-hosted Relativity is very, very expensive. Most vendors charge per GB for storage, then a licensing fee per named user. There are typically additional charges for near-duplicate detection, email threading, and concept clustering. All of the vendors we've used have adopted some variation of this model. This creates a cost unpredictability that is quite uncomfortable,

Recommendations to others considering the product

Thoroughly vet your choice of vendor if you are going with a SaaS deployment. To uncover all potential costs, and ask them to simulate the life of a complicated case, with waves of ediscovery loads and multiple productions. If they simply hand you a "menu" of pricing, run away as fast as you can!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are able to handle very large cases, with mountains of discovery, by using a product like Relativity, Making use of concept clustering, dedupe, near-dupe detection, and email threading dramatically reduce both review time and the number of reviewers needed. We are able to more quickly and efficiently identify key documents, and in many cases, discover critical records that would otherwise be buried.

"Sr. Director Solutions"

What do you like best?

Relativity allows for flexibility to create unique customizations to meet the client's needs. I love the ability to add objects and link them to the documents object to create custom reporting and features for our client's.

What do you dislike?

It should be more front end user friendly. Many of my clients have been using and seeing other products that are easier for the end user to go in and start working. For example Brainspace is very easy and user friendly to understand for many of the attorneys but Relativity clustering is harder for them to grasp the concept of what is going on.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I typically recommend to people that it's the best product on the market at this time. There are others on the market that are cheaper and easier to implement but for all the features you can get within Relativity it can't be beat.

"The right software for E-Discovery"

What do you like best?

Relativity has a very user friendly interface to navigate through. I especially like the way folders can be organized with sub-folders layer out in a tree type setting. The saved search option is very helpful to avoid running the same searches. The filters allow you to quickly find what you are looking for.

What do you dislike?

I have not had any negative experiences with the product to date.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It is extremely helpful in the review and distribution of documents as it relates to electronic discovery in a law setting.

"Unparalleled flexibility"

What do you like best?

The transparency of the platform that allows us to understand and leverage all aspects of the workflow. Customisations give us the ability to differentiate from other providers.

What do you dislike?

Complexity of setup and quality \ rending of some images produced from pdfs.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are using Relativity to combine and analyse structured and unstructured data. The flexibility of the platform enables us to support all areas of our business that require some degree of data review.

"Realtivity is slowly becoming an All-In-One solution for your eDiscovery Needs"

What do you like best?

The Scale-ability of the platform, the ability to get very granular with permissions and even the UI itself. Arguably it is one of the best platforms for review, allowing for hundreds of users to access if the environment is set up. I also like the fact that Relativity is the cross web browser usability, no longer do you need to setup a terminal server for your MAC users.

The training and Certification is top notch and allows a new user to be able to understand the system and be off and running.

What do you dislike?

The learning curve sometimes is a bit much for attorneys who are either new to the industry and eDiscovery or those who came from simpler platforms. The Price point is also higher compared to other platforms.

The processing piece is not all the way where it needs to be able to be able to ditch software like Nuix or eCapture.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be sure to get a proper training so you can understand all the features you have at the tips of your fingers. Look into analytics and some of the offerings they have (collections, processing, etc).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Being able to review big data sets and cull those down before review either using analytics or a combination of searching and analytics. We have been able to save our clients money on review, while being able to provide a fully customizable experience.

"Relativity provides easy way to tag and review large quantifies of documents"

What do you like best?

Multiple tagging options, ability to flag technical issues

What do you dislike?

Sometimes slow to load to next document. There are too many icons above each document. They don't provide an explanation of what the icon is unless you hover over it. That can be confusing.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Easy way to review lots of documents.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am reviewing documents as part of litigation. The benefits are the ability to tag "hot documents" and to create subcategories of documents. This is especially helpful in cases involving thousands of documents that need to be organized and culled.

"Ruetten's Review of Relativity"

What do you like best?

My favorite features are the ease of use. The flow of you accomplish small tasks to achieve a larger goal just makes sense. kCura has built in tools to handle some pretty complex scripts to handle issues that might take much longer to accomplish if you had to export the data out, modify it and then export back in. While customer support has suffered due to its success, it still ranks up there as one of the best companies to provide help when you need it. They also take customer feedback seriously.

What do you dislike?

Most of the applications within Relativity I really like, however, processing still does not seem to be on par with their competitors. The customer portal is cumbersome to work through and find information when you need it. I hope they find a way to use move it into a Relativity instance rather than using salesforce.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We help our clients find the evidence that supports or goes against their case in order for them to know better position their arguments. Relativity is a great tool to help them accomplish that goal.

"kCura's Relativity in a nutshell"

What do you like best?

The Simplicity and Flexibility of Relativity has been a big bonus with our Clients.

What do you dislike?

The Upgrade Process is a very time consuming process that requires an outage in an active environment this can be very hard to arrange.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure to estimate your provisioning properly, and error on the up side, don't skimp on the SQL servers.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Relativity is a great SaaS product that allows us to follow the Full EDRM process within one tool.

"Document Review and E-Discovery "

What do you like best?

Relativity does an alright job at allowing attorneys and paralegals do document review on cases that involve a multitude of documents. Tens of thousands to millions of documents can be processed through this system and program with ease. This is a major e-discovery software used for redacting and finding documents relevant to a case.

What do you dislike?

Relativity can be a bit slow at times. Off site implementation is also not the best.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Relativity will need support from the company now and then. Expect it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Relativity is used to process large amounts of documents in an efficient manner for document review in determining whether documents are needed for a case. One of the main e-discovery softwares we use.

"Relativity is a very complex tool but very easy to use and understand."

What do you like best?

I like the usability and functionality it provides. We can have new users up and running with one short training session. We work with Project Managers and Litigation support specialist to determine the best, custom workflow for the individual organizations. It provides a full suite of analytics and algorithmic coding tools, which can dramatically enhance attorney review rates or even automate document coding entirely. It is essential that our clients are provided solutions utilizing the latest, most advanced technology.

What do you dislike?

I don't like that I cannot open up two sessions on different machine with the same user. I multi task on multiple projects at the same time, its not easy to do in Relativity with only 10 recent places. It would be great if we had more production specs

Recommendations to others considering the product

Relativity is a great application that has robust capabilities. Although it is geared towards document review, it has many other great features that can be manipulated for other facets of the business.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Working with both private businesses and Law firms, big and small, in their litigation, discovery and production of data. One of the key components to our success is kCura’s Relativity on-line review tool. As a “Best in Service” provider, we pride ourselves on achieving and maintaining one of the highest levels of vendor certification. For our clients, this translates into exceptional product expertise, training, and customer service. It provides a full suite of analytics and algorithmic coding tools, which can dramatically enhance attorney review rates or even automate document coding entirely.

"Functional "

What do you like best?

Relativity is fairly simple to learn and to teach. So it is suitable for use when needing to use a large amount of people on a document review task. Because of its simplicity, many different companies tend to employ the software.

What do you dislike?

The search function can be tedious and limited. The search function required very specific steps to achieve the desired result. Often it is a matter of trial and error to create the exact search you want. For instances, sometimes you actually have to leave items out of a search to find what you want. It can be counter intuitive.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

This software really does not work toward business solutions. The benefit is certainly the ease of use.

"Complete online solution for documentation organization, review and production"

What do you like best?

Stable platform; easy to learn and use; open development arena allowing for custom functionality and business logic for our varied case support; easy standard customization using existing interface

What do you dislike?

No ability to split a paper based doc in system allowing for document unitization; while native document processing and imaging has vastly improved speeds, the desktop client for importing/exporting documents is still limited in functionality and speed

Recommendations to others considering the product

Take a look at all of the additional products that kCura offers along side and integrated into the Core Relativity platform. Processing, Legal Hold and Collections are some of these and help to provide a strong solution for any group to support the Litigation cycle even outside the discovery portion.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Document and Media tracking made easy, project management for all aspects of a project from task tracking to billing, easy to get large amounts of native files loaded/imaged/review and produced in short time frames.

"The "Gold Standard" by which all other review platforms are measured."

What do you like best?

Overall great tool that all other review tools are compared to. Relativity was originally developed for Foley & Lardner as a replacement for Concordance. At that time, Concordance didn't really support the review of native files in an efficient manner. kCura [developer of Relativity] has really embraced the concept of incorporating user feedback into features and functionality.

Key features:

High degree of customization to support simple to complex review workflows

Granular permissions to allow for nuanced security roles

Scripting to allow for incorporation of 3rd party tool integration, custom workflows, reporting, etc.

Functionality to drive and enforce reviewer behavior

Ability for service providers either start or complement a hosting offering

What do you dislike?

Although Relativity can be simple to use, it can be a challenge to administer and does require investment in storage, security and most importantly people to support it from a work flow, end user and infrastructure perspective. Some providers do host "in house", but you should strongly consider hosting the platform in a data center with appropriate bandwidth and redundancy.

Make sure you understand the user licensing model. This is a re-occurring cost to your organization.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure you factor in all infrastructure costs, labor and licensing.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It has allowed my organization to grow and develop a very profitable Hosted Application division. We've customized the tool to not only build out a review offering, but we've also utilized it early on to manage project requests across the organization and to build an Early Case Assessment offering that has allowed us to capture many more engagements.

"I have been working with Relativity for about 1 year"

What do you like best?

Users only have access to the files they need to see. It is fully customizable for different teams or workflows.

What do you dislike?

I have not come across anything specific that I dislike. Any issues I have had in the past have been corrected as new versions/upgrades are made.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our firm is becoming paper-less. This keeps our documents electronic and helps to reduce paper files. It has also helped speed up our document review and has the ability to work remotely without having to sync any changes manually.

"Relativity Review/Processing"

What do you like best?

Processing

- error log is easy to read and understand, it also prepares a new load file with the errored files.

- quick and easy to bring documents in for review

Review

- very user friendly

- administrator is able to create user specific templates easily

What do you dislike?

- there are a lot of steps you have to take to do one task. Lots of prep work.

Recommendations to others considering the product

"Relativity - The best documetn review platform around"

What do you like best?

Relativity is an extremely user friendly, intuitive document review platform. It provides the ability to customize the documents, fields, coding choices and nearly every aspect of the review process. This allows for tailoring workflows to meet the needs of nearly every review team. Relativity has easy to use document redaction and flexible production capabilities. Combine this with a robust security model, powerful search capabilities, and the ability to use the Relativity toolset to build add-on applications (a library of applications are already available), and you have the recipe for the industry leader in document review. New applications like Processing and Collection provide even more features in one toolset.

The kCura support team provides the best support of any software tool I have used. they are knowledgeable, patient, and provide top notch assistance, regardless of the issue.

kCura also provides a number of learning materials on their website alongside web-based documentation.

What do you dislike?

I dislike very little. I think the processing and collection tools have a bit of a way to go with regard to features and reliability in order to be at the high level set by the rest of the application.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Relativity should be the first product of its kind that anyone in the market for such a tool should be looking at. you will be hard pressed to find another tool that provides the flexibility and robust set of features that Relativity provides. While another product may have a key feature that may surpass a comparable feature in Relativity, few products in my experience do as well across the feature spectrum.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Credence Corp. is a litigation support service provider. We provide a range of services for Law firms, corporations, and government departments. Relativity forms the core of our offering, allowing us to accommodate a variety of client needs ranging from the review of their client documents, to preparing productions, creation of privilege logs, review of incoming production documents and can accommodate a great variety of legal team workflows.

"Relativity User for 6+ years and System Administrator for 3 years"

What do you like best?

The system is very user friendly and versatile. It is a very flexible platform that can host just about any type of data. You can apply security to just about any item in the database so that multiple user groups can have different types of access. It is a very well supported platform by kCura and they are constantly trying to make improvements.

What do you dislike?

The new HTML viewer for Relativity 9 needs some help; luckily you can still use the ActiveX viewer to mass print, but our clients were very disappointed that they were unable to print directly from the HTML viewer. The programs does have some limitations, but it is by far the best eDiscovery platform in the market.

Recommendations to others considering the product

This is by far the most versatile eDiscovery platform available and can handle any size case from a gigabyte of data to terabytes of data.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

How to quickly and efficiently review large data sets. We are able to apply analytics to help speed the review process and streamline workflows for efficient document reviews.

"Long-Time Relativity Admin"

What do you like best?

Highly scalable, flexible (both UI and the structure) while also containing a friendly user interface. The community (of Relativity clients/users/developers) is also very active, giving a higher chance of good user experience not solely reliant on the (excellent) customer service of the software provider (kCura).

What do you dislike?

No major dislikes, any areas that are missing/challenges are often compensated by the ability to plug-in through the API or work within the open architecture of the back-end SQL schema.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Relativity is a reliable and friendly platform for users, administrators and developers. It is the industry leader for users and administrators, and their recent enhancement of the API is making it much more developer-friendly.

Even when the platform is not initially setup/capable with every feature and functionality at first, its' flexibility to create a customized and/or expanded experience allows for adjustments to be made to optimize the setup and experience.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Main focus is solving eDiscovery case and environment management, primarily as a database but also for data processing and productions.

The flexibility has allowed for more users to be satisfied, and also allow for customization/plug-ins that can enhance the natural software itself.

"My Relativity Experience"

What do you like best?

I really like the Relativity support. If there is an issue the support team works round the clock to correct the issue along with explaining why the issue happened in the first place.

What do you dislike?

There isn't much to dislike aside from a few of the known glitches with Relativity. Some of these may be related to local networks though.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Definitely consider the latest Relativity 1 platform.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

What do you like best?

"Scalable and Industry Standard Review Platform"

What do you like best?

This product is flexible and scalable and its performance is largely limited by the infrastructure the product is deployed on. Ability to load-balance the work load is a plus for Relativity. Client application runs within the IE browser (Relativity 8.0 and earlier) which is available in nearly all Microsoft Windows computers. Application requires a multiple dedicated servers to work effectively and allows for review and collaboration over the Internet.

What do you dislike?

Versions 8.0 and earlier only support IE browsers. Deployment of the platform is not the most straight-forward process and usually requires vendor assistance the first time. Relies heavily on Microsoft technologies such as ActiveX and .NET framework and could not run on Linux based servers.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

eDiscovery and Legal Review. Allows heavy customization to suit the job or project.
