What do you like best?

One of the most difficult parts to deploying your first campaign through Rocket Fuel is trusting that the system will work the way they say it will. Being unsure that this AI tech will really look at nearly every impression available, judge whether the person on the other side of the screen is a good fit for the campaign, and serve your ad. I have dealt with this dilemma several times and i have not been let down yet. Sure there have been times when the campaign didn't perform as well as hoped but it wasn't for lack of trying/expertise. The Rocket Fuel team is always upfront about possible roadblocks, set realistic expectations and ALWAYS go above and beyond to help garner the best results possible.

What do you dislike?

I have found the spending minimums to be the only deterrent from running all my campaigns through Rocket Fuel.

Absolutely give them a shot!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The most recent item that RF has helped me with is the ability to target users across devices. I recently added mobile to the mix of desktop and social, within 4 weeks of launch, my CPA fell by nearly 50%. The ability to reach prospects no matter their physical location, throughout their day, has proven to be a huge benefit to my clients.

What do you like best?

They are one of the leading companies that is in the programmatic space. They have come a long way over the past few years and have proven their performance as a partner that can do every type of targeting in the book.

What do you dislike?

Similar to most vendors that pull inventory from ad excahnges, there runs the risk of having your ads run on non-viewable pages or long-tail sites. You must use a brand safety partner when running with Rocketfuel.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are expanding your digital media plans to include programmatic, I recommend testing Rocketfuel in an A/B test against a main competitor. Again, the targeting capabilities that this partner offers is endless, so you should talk to your sales rep about which targeting tactics would work the best for your campaign.

Great customer service

What do you like best?

I have worked with RF several times across different companies I worked for and different campaigns and products. The common denominator here though is their customer service. I recall working with 3 different teams at RF and all were very kind, punctual, helpful, knowledgeable, and down to earth. Anyone who has been in the ad buying world for more than a hot minute knows that only about (in my opinion) 15% of sales teams possess all these great qualities.

RF's technology is one of the best to find your target customer in very segmented verticals. RF exceeded when I used them for specific and broad display ads.

What do you dislike?

However, they did not exceed at DR campaigns. I worked with 2 rep teams for DR and at the end of the failed campaigns, even they said that RF does not excel in DR.

So for awareness and finding your target- choose RF. For DR, use another outlet.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

RF solves finding your direct consumer, when there are obstacles. Such as: a female christian artist collaborating with an old school rock artist. How can you find someone who likes Both genres? RF finds them.

Sales team, data, reporting and optimization

What do you dislike?

Its not consistent, both the platform and the sales staff, We have had a 4-week campaign delivered in one day

Work closely with and make sure they understand the campaign and delver evenly

What do you like best?

Rocket fuel is good at targeting qualified users. They use programmatic data to reach people that align with your current site visitors. In the end they provide decent branding that is better than Run of SIte (ROS) media buys.

What do you dislike?

RocketFuel takes credit for conversions that they had minimal influence on. THis is not last click.. which is OK.. However, they tend to target people already on your email list and then take credit for conversions that come after an email campaign.

Even in a Good campaign, Rocket Fuel is more expensive than paid search.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The business problem or challenge that Rock fuel claims to have solved is cost effective customer acquisition. I have realized some benefit, but Rocket Fuel has not been cost effective and it is difficult to isolate the true incremental benefit of a Rocket Fuel campaign.

Programattic Display, at a price.

What do you like best?

Rocket Fuel's robust programmatic system allows for a very detailed targeting and optimization approach to gain leads and sales through display advertising. Also, the detailed demographic targeting helps us not only put the ads in front of those interested in the services or products, but the right type of person to narrow in on the audience that is more likely to convert.

What do you dislike?

The main disappointment is the minimum spend requirements for their platform. The reason this is a dislike is I have plenty of other vendor options that do not require the higher spend levels that can get the same exact results or better results with a smaller, test budget. So, Rocket Fuel ends up being a longer-term partner once initial test campaigns have ran through similar vendors at a lower cost.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Rocket Fuel is a great display vendor for large budgets and indepth targeting using both behavior and demographics across ad exchanges and devices to reach a larger, but defined audience. As of late, the issue has been the drop of the Facebook exchange (due to Facebook not Rocket Fuel - as far as I am aware), so the social aspect has been lacking, where as I can use an up and coming vendor, like AdRoll for my 'prospecting' through programmatic and retargeting across all the web exchanges plus Facebook.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

These display buys helps solve display reach outside of Google's display network in a vendor managed setting. With the extra ad exchanges and detailed targeting, we can see better results and reach more people by using a buy like Rocket Fuel. The benefits have been directly related to performance. Improved CTR, and more conversions at a lower cost. We can also solve the cross-device issue that a limited platform can't do along with reach a social demographic at the same time.
