"Its been good to use Ruby to code IOS applications"

What do you like best?

Usage of Ruby for developing iOS apps. Basically any native apps Android or iOS. It increases the output and the hassle of learning objective C or swift or Java. I can use gems as well which is a big plus. There's also the testing framework which it provides which saves the hassle of constantly testing it on an actual simulator for every small change - functionality wise or feature wise.

What do you dislike?

The documentation could be a bit more descriptive and can be improved. Also the debugging takes time and effort and can be improved as well.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Apps ranging from simple to fully featured counterparts of the website. Since the website also is based on Rails its easier to have the same team of developers to code the app and the backend api.

"Productivity development kit"

What do you like best?

The language. Ruby is one of the best designed languages and CocoaTouch is one of most stables frameworks to develop software applications.

Using Ruby to create iPhone applications feels really well.

What do you dislike?

The lldb support, if you need to debug on one line; you need to use lldb and the support to the pro/pri is really bad. You can't call methods or take the parameters value to print into lldb.

It's hard debug with RubyMotion

Recommendations to others considering the product

Until now RubyMotion don't have Swift support and debugging with lldb it's hard considering the console you have in execution time and when you need to stop execution.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

An invoice system for Mexico, the main benefit was the easy creation of components and UI elements in my app.

"Loved getting an app up and running in Ruby Motion"

What do you like best?

The best thing ruby motion brings to the table for mobile development is the ruby environment. This is the way to write ruby for mobile applications.

What do you dislike?

Debugging is hard, its hard for just about any cross platform package like this. I hope to see this improve in the future.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Get a book or find an extensive online guide for RubyMotion. Also pay close attention to which version the documentation is and try to stick with that version. Trying to write an app with a newer version using old documentation can be difficult.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We do not want to have to maintain multiple codebases for different platforms, RubyMotion lets us have one app that can be built for multiple platforms and actually work!
