"Incredibly Powerful Toolkit That Needs A Champion"

What do you like best?

Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack is an incredibly powerful set of tools and home-base for your Nonprofit data. It's innate flexibility and customization options set it above many of the out-of-the-box nonprofit CRMs. You can store almost any data your non-profit collects with just a few custom objects, fields, etc.

What do you dislike?

It absolutely requires a knowledgeable administrator. Does this have to be a full-time position? No. Does it have to be someone that's passionate about learning the system and championing the tools to the rest of the organization? Absolutely.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Salesforce is our data hub. All forms, surveys, donors, donations flow into Salesforce. We can see when someone has donated, when they've signed a petition, when they've volunteered. It connects to so many other apps and tools that we can then communicate with those constituents in many different forms.

"Well rounded, flexible software"

What do you like best?

Salesforce is really good at flexing to fit whatever the organization needs- for example, we track contacts in a different way and so we have probably hundreds of custom fields, all of which are searchable and work well. The reports are also essential; it really helps to see a bigger picture of the data, and I love how fine-grained you can get.

What do you dislike?

Pulling reports can sometimes take an excessive amount of time depending on the amount of data involved, so that gets really annoying. The other thing is something that is more of a double-edged sword- since it is so customizable, there are a lot of things I don't use that get in the way.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Salesforce allows us to track all our contacts, profiles and results in the same place which is great. This way we can see a direct connection between outreach and success.

"Salesforce nonprofit reveiw"

What do you like best?

Salesforce is known as the Maserati of CRM. It is a sophisticated system with lots of features to customize your company needs. This system grows as your company grows.

What do you dislike?

It is more for sales data tracking than for nonprofit organizations. Some of the languages have to be modified to reflect it accordingly. Also, in order to create standard nonprofit reports like retention or attrition, it has to be created and customized which is time consuming and expensive.

Recommendations to others considering the product

We were able to receive a grant from the Saleforce Foundation so it helped cut our cost in purchasing a CRM. It is important that the person who is using the system, provides accurate and consistent information.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The ability to track prospective donors, community leaders, and companies. It is nice to have all the information in one system and not on an Excel spreadsheet.

"Salesforce is a great data system for both participant tracking as well as donation tracking. "

What do you like best?

The ability to customize Salesforce puts them above all other data tracking options in our opinion. We need the system to track both participant attendance as well as donation information, and being able to have them all in the same platform is a huge advantage!

What do you dislike?

There are a small number of things that aren't able to be customized that make our data entry difficult. As with any program, it cannot do absolutely everything we need; however, it does come close!

Recommendations to others considering the product

We found it beneficial to hire an outside consultant to assist with support as Salesforce support was not as readily available as we might have hoped.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are solving the issue of tracking participants and donors in the same place. With overlap, it is so helpful to track both things in the same system.

"Evaluating nonprofit CRMs? Look no further than Salesforce NPSP"

What do you like best?

Salesforce can basically be whatever you want it to be - it's powerful and flexible enough to do what you need it to do. Best part is the potential for automation - so much time saved! Also 10 free licenses make this THE most affordable option for nonprofits.

What do you dislike?

Definitely needs a hands-on admin to get the best functionality; just like any platform, the CRM is only as good as the data

Recommendations to others considering the product

Definitely, jump in!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With NPSP, our CRM has transformed from basically an expensive Rolodex to our entire org's one stop shop- development, program, and marketing departments use this as their number one tool to evaluate their performance against the org's mission.

"Adaptable for Professional Associations"

What do you like best?

Everything is customizable. We are a professional association and don't use the fundraising feature, which is the main selling point of NPSP for most non-profits. We have been able to turn of all those features and/or adapt them for our uses as needed. It's difficult, but not impossible to set it up without an implementation partner.

What do you dislike?

There's a major learning curve if you don't have an implementation partner. The software itself is free if you are an non-profit, but implementation is still quite pricey. We opted to go without a partner only because I have a bit of programming and AMS experience.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you don't have an additional $10-20k for implementation, make sure you have multiple people on staff who are capable of programming formulas.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The ability to integrate with Outlook is a game-changer. We are nurturing relationships and being able to attach emails to contacts has been immensely helpful in being able to capture a full picture of our relationship with each contact. NPSP also provides an effective way to manage companies and committees in addition to contacts.

"Functional, well-designed CRM for non-profit"

What do you like best?

I like that I can create reports of any data set(s) I need to view, and then I can visualize it in a graphic instantly. I like that the database is easily searchable and allows me to save a lot of information in every account.

What do you dislike?

There are some functions that I can't do myself, and have to ask our data administrator to do them.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Get it! It works for keeping tracks of volunteers, funders, and other individuals and accounts.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I've been able to accurately track and manage different subsets of our volunteer force, and have been able to quantify and measure our faith partners' engagement.

"Powerful tool, but you need to invest with time and staffing"

What do you like best?

I like that there are endless options for customizing and improving process efficiencies. I also like the Power of Us Hub which has a community of like-minded professionals to help with support.

What do you dislike?

I dislike that it is not as intuitive to set up for someone without an IT or computer science background (or perhaps I need additional education?). There is a steep learning curve, and there are infinite options to pay a consultant to help set it up - but after that, you must pay a steep price for maintenance or be prepared to dive in headfirst in learning.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure your staff are on board, motivated and willing to learn!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have solved the problem of updating multiple spreadsheets, duplicate work and more opportunity for error. I anticipate we will also have more data power to run reports.

"Great out of the box donor management software option for nonprofits!"

What do you like best?

Salesforce for Nonprofits makes the process of moving donors through the donor management pipeline as seamless as possible. The "out of the box" features are easily accessible and straightforward, providing a one-stop shop for tracking donor engagement, donations, follow ups, meeting notes, and more.

What do you dislike?

I wish that Salesforce for Nonprofits would email or more easily notify my team about reminders and tasks that are assigned to them.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were trying to consolidate all of our different donor management and gift tracking systems into one location, and Salesforce for Nonprofits has allowed us to access a central database and streamline our tracking processes. Everyone on our team is utilizing the same system and accessing the same information, which has been immensely helpful in ensuring consistent and timely outreach and accurate tracking and reporting.

"Is a great product...if you have patience. "

What do you like best?

The Nonprofits Success pack that they supply is great, with integrated Donor Management and an Open Flexible architecture. They offer a free trial and you can join the Power of Us Hub, which helps you start and gives advise

What do you dislike?

As the packs they supply are owned by them, updates can sometimes take a while, although this is still a great out of the box product, that nearly every Non-Profit Organization I've worked with use.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It was difficult to implement without spending additional money and we couldn't afford do that.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were trying to track our fundraising efforts through Saleforce
