"Is a way of work as it should be"

What do you like best?

I work with this since a got my degree , is the best ERP there is , it has all the the best practice for every aspect of a company and also gets spaces to do some customizing things , when you need your proper logic in yor process

What do you dislike?

Is not for every company because is really expensive , and need that your company have all process , financial , cost , sales , production , etc , to really get the juice of the ERP. Also what i think is something not that important but my clients always tells me , that is really ugly , the user interface should be more appeling to he user.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Try to go with the last version of sap , even better go to HANNA , this will keep you update for at least a year. Also implement with companies with at least 10 implementation , and se the process as 1 major process , don't see it asi diferent information places

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

SAP ERP clear the path to much better industry process , don't need to have diferent programs to have the information of your company

"Solo para grandes empresas ? , No tanto como creemos"

What do you like best?

What do you dislike?

Recommendations to others considering the product

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

What ERP Systems solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Great for large businesses."

What do you like best?

SAP has loads of features and resources that can help a large business. There are so many resources and tutorials that can also help to make the integration more seamless. It's a product that's been around for quite awhile so it's more trusted in the business. A lot of companies use SAP and it's just one of those tried and true things. It also integrates well with other systems used here at Shure, which has made our processes more seamless. It has organized processes and made them more efficient, especially across different teams.

What do you dislike?

It is not the most user-friendly. I think that the vast amount of features can make it a bit confusing. I also think that its interface is very clunky. It took me quite awhile to figure things out and get things right with SAP. I was annoyed at how much I had to Google and ask questions and attend trainings just to understand this product.

Recommendations to others considering the product

There are so many resources available online to make your experience more simple. This product is very pricey so don't invest until you've really researched your options and really know that this will be the best product for your team. You really have to weigh the pros and cons, but if it works well, it will really make things more efficient for your company.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Project management, budgeting, operations. The benefits I've realized is that it can make these areas really organized and efficient across teams. It integrates well with other systems.

"Business made easy"

What do you like best?

SAP ERP is an all in one solution for all departments in an organization. HR, Accounts, Finance and Sales - all these departments use SAP for their daily running of the business. SAP can make a business run smooth, efficient and effective. Invoices can be processed, Sales can be tracked, employee work can be measured and financial statements can easily made

What do you dislike?

The interface of SAP ERP is extremely boring to use. Simple colors are used for font and there are no colors. Even a professional may get bored from using this software after a while. This software is also extremely expensive.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

SAP ERP has been extremely helpful in my business. All my accounting problems have been solved by this. Chances of Fraud have been reduced as all my work is being done on cloud. All my purchase orders and invoices can now be made via SAP ERP making my business look more professional. As there are more approvers and checkers involved in this verification process, chances of mistakes are also mitigated.

"ERP makes my business flourish"

What do you like best?

SAP surely has a brand name. It is trusted among Millions of companies globally and people pay Millions of Dollars just to get this software. There are a lot of things which I like about this software. As everything is computerized, chances of theft and fraud are almost nullified. Easily manage your resources with keeping the entire company in mind. BEST software for a business

What do you dislike?

The cost is a major concern. Undoubtedly, the software is costly but the benefits will only be realized once we start using the software. For a first timer, the software design and user interface may look extremely boring to use as well.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would recommend this to people who are looking to expand their business and bring efficiency in their business. Having your business transactions digitalized brings a lot of benefits your business in terms of lower business management costs, less wastage and less lead time in terms of delivery

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I was a small scale business before I had SAP ERP installed. My business has since, sky rocketed. My sales returns have decreased due to constant coordination with my customers. My customers have even increased because as my invoices are now computerized, people think that I am a company which can be trusted and it even looks professional. My inventory is managed better as expiration date can be easily seen via the system and necessary action can be taken. I have a variety of products to offer ranging from customized orders of clothes to customized cakes. This software has been a blessing to me. Ofcourse expensive but it has helped me to expand exponentially

"The ERP makes the manufacturing easy"

What do you like best?

SAP ERP has several modules. As a solution architect I work with SAP Manufacturing suite. The beauty of the product is, it comes with out of the box solutions to streamline the business processes with the IT solution.

IBP helps to convert the demands into plan to produce products, production planning module generate the product structure, building materials, instructions to produce and resource utilisations. The PLM module is where the R&D and engineering team enters their data while new product introductions and these propagates to the production planning module. Production planning module is well integrated to the costing module which gives very good visibility of the planned costing of the material production and also calculates the actual production cost at the end of production run. SAP MII and ME are the modules which complements the production planning module and gives direct integration option of the machines and factory workers. Supplier Network Collaboration (SNC) is another good module ties the vendor's work with the internal manufacturing process. This module helps subcontracting scenarios. Utilisation of a factory which is dependent on the subassembly from a vendor gets a lot benefits from SNC. The last part is the quality assurance. The QM module is wide and flexible to integrate with the process.

What do you dislike?

The User interface is complex and non attractive. The problem of SAP is, the screens are not following any open standard. They are in a process of changing the look and feel. But till now it's not fully converted.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure the consultants are well knowledgeable. A good consultant will maximise the out of the box module utilisation and minimise the custom development.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

SAP ERP helped a lot to capture every cost at the production floor during and after the production process. The quality parameter capturing process is very well defined which helps a lot during recall of the product and analysis of the root cause as well as provides in process visibility of the product quality to take immediate action to improve the production run. Batch utilisation as per the explanation date helps to use the inventory on time and accurately. This helped to improve the inventory maintenance cost.

"Sap is always SAP"

What do you like best?

For this ERP there is no competition , it takes all the process in your industry and put into 0ne place for that is the most sutable software for enterprises.Another thing that's important is that out there is a lot of information for common and not so common questions , errors and doubts about the system .

What do you dislike?

Because is that good , sometimes don't take care of litle industrys , or is real expensive for companys that are stanting. Antoher stuff is that all the services are getting to he cloud and places where the connection speed is not so good are going to pay the prices

Recommendations to others considering the product

First get your process define in a way is not a problem , after that be sure you are going to use all the modules , FI , SD , MM , CO , PP , PM , at least in other way is a waste of money because you are not getting the full experience of the integration of all this data , and get how it helps to grow your bussines

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

First of all now we don't have electronic island , all the information about our bussiness ir now concentrated in 1 places and is implemented for all the areas that work together as one. Also got aour specialist to learn and modell process from the point of view of the user and not just for the system point of view in that matters helped a lot in a friendly user experience for that matter.

"Great tools but expensive"

What do you like best?

Excellent software to use in coordingating orders & inventory. Some of the tools are there to get the job done. It's nice to be able to track finances and helps with planning & forecasting. Being able to use the program for other departments. I like that it can be configured for daily tasks that is very efficient for me. It is very time saving and can help reduce costs.

What do you dislike?

You need to customize or make shortcuts. Need more tools from third party sites as you only have the basics. Having to pay for monthly maintenance and upkeep can damper the costs. It is a very powerful suite that requires alot of configuration. Extensive training and lots of upkeep. Need to have patience with the program, as some users who are not experienced with SAP will find it difficult.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would try it out before implementing a major software change. It's easy to use but still has a lack of functionality and tools. You will need a good team to plan and train employees. I would suggest downloading the trial software and speaking with customer service before making a major change.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It's beneficial use helps with PM tools and functionality. Great for customization and creating shorcuts. New users in our company can find this is simple and easy, once trained properly. We conduct extensive trainingmonthly as we expand. We use the program to renew contracts every 3-4 months and find it is very productive in meeting our goals.

"SAP, essential for companies today."

What do you like best?

SAP is a computer system, it serves to provide information. It feeds on the data that is loaded and processed within an environment, and the best thing is that the system will be responsible (according to the configuration made by the user - SAP consultants) to produce with this data useful information for decision making and the exposure of these data in a way that can be interpreted by the interested parties.

What do you dislike?

The only bad thing about sap is that it is not aimed at small companies. In fact you must have a very important annual turnover to be a potential SAP customer. When companies talk about SAP, they talk about the global system, designed for multinational companies.

Recommendations to others considering the product

They are on the right track, although it would be excellent if they develop a software version for small companies

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have used SAP for more than five years in the market, and I have never heard that a company complains about the product itself, on the contrary it allows invoicing in a simple way.

Yes there are customers who have complained about the service provided by SAP parthners, but that is another issue totally different from what is the SAP system itself.

"Unpleasant as a user, but helpful for the business"

What do you like best?

SAP is incredibly useful for the business, and whilst I don't like it as a user, I can appreciate that it is a useful way to consolidate large amounts of data from across the firm.

What do you dislike?

As a user, it is not the easiest software to use. The look and feel is outdated (though that could be due to my firm still using an older version?), and it is quite a pain even to input my work hours. I don't think it's intuitive at all.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Useful from a business perspective, but not very enjoyable or intuitive for users.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am currently working on a project that involves reporting on FTEs, and SAP makes it very easy to collect data and report on the workforce. This makes reporting and planning on workforce growth much easier.

"SAP - Perfect product for large organization"

What do you like best?

It is an all in one solution for majority of departments in an organization. HR, Finance, Sales, Operations, Inventory management teams rely on SAP heavily. I love the way you can customize and create your own reports and even save them for future use.You can add your favorite transactions and Report. Once you get a hang of the product, you will fall in love with it.

What do you dislike?

I can think of anything that I dislike besides the fact that it is quite an expensive product and some co-workers find it difficult to remember the various info types, transaction codes and are unable to create reports. Also, if you don't actively use SAP, it will keep signing you out.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I will recommend this product to organizations that are looking to expand and want to make their systems efficient. You will need a strong team so you can train your employees well. It is a very expensive product so be wise and careful.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

My team and I use the HR module of this software. All HR records are entered into SAP. Its our central source of information. Other software like Kronos, Onbase, MSS are all intergrated with SAP. Its the source from where all our data is generated.

"SAP (ERP) - ESSENTIAL TOOL FOR PRODUCTION !!"

What do you like best?

This tool helps us to perform integrated manufacturing. Basically, engineering could release designs in any PLM software's. PLM software and SAP could be integrated so that you could use those design/changes for production planning.

In addition, purchasing team could also use this tool to work on their side. Update cost and supplier information's for the parts.

Supply chain team can utilize this information to complete their piece of puzzle using information through SAP.

What do you dislike?

User interface is simple but you need to have proper training to use its complete potential.

Recommendations to others considering the product

My honest suggestion would be...if you are not using SAP as of today, then first make a process chart to understand what kind of operations you have and what kind of integration you need. Then you should contact SAP so that they can suggest best application for you and also you need to workout costing.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am part of engineering and this software helps us a lot. eg

1. To review bom for an assembly/machine

2. Confirm part availability during the NPI build and also when we need to use part for engineering testing

3. To find out supplier and cost data

4. To find multiple usage on a part

5. Review purchasing schedule.

There are much more benefits to use this software from engineering standpoint as well....in addition to manufacturing.

"SAP one solution for all functions"

What do you like best?

SAP ERP is one platform for all the data source in an organization from Finance and Sales & operations planning, procurement, logistics, production and commercial. All these functions are interconnected in an organisation to run the daily business. It is one ERP where each level of data is recorded to track the details from purchase requisition to deliver the product to customer. It supports to generate details from the data to run business smoothly and efficiently.

What do you dislike?

- Simple colors

- Software is difficult to use for a non SAP Expert

- Software is extremely expensive and cost is major concern

- Need to have expert level training to work in the SAP ERP

- Takes lot of time to extract any kind of data

Recommendations to others considering the product

People who are using SAP ERP and they want to make their system more efficient then they should use SAP Business objects. This brings more simplification for bringing the transaction level data.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

- Data extraction

- Financial statements

- Production plan

- Sales forecasting

- Delivery

- shipment

- purchase order and requisition

"Massive and Powerful"

What do you like best?

I like the ability of the many modules to work together seamlessly. I can be looking at something in warehouse management and double click on parts to go directly to material information that is part of the material master. Then I can move directly to ECN information and back.

What do you dislike?

I very much dislike the learning curve. With this being a massive piece of software, it takes a long time to become proficient. I have used SAP ERP for 5 years now and am constantly learning new tricks and things you can do with it.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Get lots and lots of training before attempting to implement. We are still cleaning up issues from when this was implemented in 2009. Unfortunately, no one had the foresight to think out everything that was needed and how it would all work together.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

My business controls everything with SAP. We are able to, at a glance, see where parts are, where production is, where engineering is with changes, what's been inspected by quality, etc. This has allowed up to schedule better and stay on target for our lead times.

"Still Unsure of SAP"

What do you like best?

I like the idea of what SAP was supposed to do for us. We are new to the system and so far, nothing has worked as promised. I'm not honestly sure that this is SAP ERP system's fault or if it was who we used to build the system. There were promises of moving processes from manual to automatic. At the very least, it was supposed to be less manual. So perhaps in a few months, when the dust settles, things will be better and will act more as promised.

What do you dislike?

This system is not user friendly. It's also not very "pretty" - it's hard to navigate and so far, it's taken a lot longer to do anything than in our very manual system we used prior.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Have good, solid processes in place before implementing SAP. SAP requires you to complete things in a very specific order and it makes it even harder when you are trying to fix processes at the same time.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

So far, I haven't found many benefits. From what I understand, reporting should be easier and more defined than in our previous system.

"ERP Review"

What do you like best?

SAP's ERP has incredible integration. Development in ABAP is very nice with the connection to the data dictionary. Very nice to see SAP take lessons from Apple on UX ... learning SAPUI5 and looking forward to deploying mobile apps.

What do you dislike?

UI5 is more bloated than Angular/Ionic. I understand components not needed will soon be ignored, which will lighten the apps. The overall user experience has been very poor for the last 20 years, but has been greatly improved wtih the option to make role-based mobile apps. Why not do the same for all SAP Gui transactions?

The users who use ERP every day don't mind the GUI so much. It's users who only use it a few times a week who cannot stand it. :)

Recommendations to others considering the product

Master data critical. Use standard SAP where possible. During upgrades, don't just do technical only - or your regression testing will eventually become overwhelming.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

All business problems! We start with SAP for enterprise solutions ... unless it is a simple workflow. (Sharepoint actually wins over SAP Workflow unless we need data from SAP)

"SAP business user"

What do you like best?

My title is accounting analyst and we use SAP to post our journal entries for each month. We use this to pull our gross profit analyses as well as revenue summaries to use for our numbers each month. SAP makes it very easy to pull our balance sheet and income statements and see what activity is being posted to each account under our business unit. We use multiple company codes as we are a third party company to our larger headquarter company. We have to pull many reports for many different company codes and accounts and this allows us to pull data from a central focus point.

What do you dislike?

MANY times the program will restrict things like uploaded documents whether they be excel items or word documents. I don't like that I have to enter in the format and frequency every time I need to print out a document that I've uploaded. SAP has a lot of glitches and errors out quite frequently without explanation. I am not a professional user by any means, however, I feel like the usability and functionality of SAP is poor. There needs to be an update to fix the glitches and errors or provide better explanations or pathways to work around.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Switch! SAP's customer service is wonderful and the capabilities and reporting options that come along with SAP are fundamental to running a business.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Business problems that we have solved are being able to pull multiple reports and analyses within the software. We use our profits/revenues to estimate our profits in the future and how our numbers should play out for the rest of the fiscal year.

"SAP ERP"

What do you like best?

First and foremost is - I always wonder how they could cover all possible scenarios in one single application.

This is a massive creation by SAP which makes all enterprise runs smoothly.

My experience with SAP ERP was very good. Below are some of them,

1. Navigating to different screens was easy

2. The shortcuts provided for each screen navigation as well as field/option navigation was very great

3. Various types of reporting facilities was again one another big feature of this.

4. By these many reporting features, be it admin or process owner or business management, could easily make use of the data being stored over a period of time.

What do you dislike?

For me, the learning did take little time. Learning materials were not made available online (public) Not sure not it is made public or not.

I am not sure why they have not thought about some in-house/in-Application automation. this would have been very massive creation, it there is any.

Recommendations to others considering the product

yes, i would strongly recommend others to use such massive and greate application

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

we have used this for service management. like Managing contracts and renewing them if they are about to expire in 2 or 3 months down the line.

"A SOLID AND STRUCTURED SOLUTION FOR YOUR BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS"

What do you like best?

SAP it's a solid ERP solution that can be applied to multiple legal entities. Its modular approach lets you implement it on a smaller portion of your business and gradually extend it to almost your entire value chain processes. Besides, the fact that SAP it's a well known solution and has a great client base plays an important role in the choice of this IT solution (in terms of ease of implementation and change managment issues), especially for big companies and great conglomerates.

What do you dislike?

As any performing application that is meant to be implemented on a larger scale, SAP as a lower customization potential. Another weakness (especially for small business) is linked to the effort in terms of time and money for the implementation and the management of this platform. But after all, great results deserve a greater effort.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

SAP let us manage our statutory and controlling routines for a relevant number of legal entities with a unified approach with remarkable returns in terms of quality of output for our internal stakeholder (especially consolidation and compliance departments), formation of our resources and solution of change management issues.

"SAP is helpful!!"

What do you like best?

It combines all the company reporting into one place and you can run different reports and schedule them to run at desired times! It also provides us an accurate way to track costs and spendings across our whole organization!

What do you dislike?

The search engine, it could be updated to be more useful! Not really accurate. After beginning using a new system for the retail end of our business, we have struggled with reconciling a bit as it reports differently on our new system and the SAP. This is just a personal dislike as it makes it a little more work for us but we are figuring it out better!

Recommendations to others considering the product

Utilize the support and resources offered! Communicate with your implementation team and their support to ease the transition.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It allows us to compile information regarding purchases, payments, and financial aspects of our business. The reporting it gives us allows us to have accurate information to use for other things in our business!

"SAP ERP Review"

What do you like best?

ERP is user friendly for those familiar with SAP and how it works. Whether it is using the binoculars to search or just typing in the transaction codes. Interaction with other SAP modules is also a bonus.

What do you dislike?

If the user does not know where to go for something it can be difficult to find what is needed. There are A LOT of help screens on the SAP site, which can add to the confusion instead of help.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It is useful- but with S4 Hana coming out I would go to that.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

SAP is helping to create a global standard within my firm in order to better plan and forecast products and link them to the rest of the business though other SAP modules.

"SAP is my go to Software"

What do you like best?

I like how you are able to search and have all the company reports in one single place and platform. The best part is that you can schedule these reports to run at very specific times in order to meet different business user's demands.

What do you dislike?

I absolutely dislike the search engine that SAP uses when looking for something, it is not accurate at all. so it is best to only type the first few letters of what you are looking for because it will not find what you need if you type the specific name.

Recommendations to others considering the product

SAP is on top of their game. Every software I have use from them has been outstanding.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

All kinds of business problems. I work for the largest insurer in the world, and we have a meet every single individual plan's demands and expectations, especially when it come to reporting request. SAP makes this a lot easier by using their portal platform to guide business users to run their own reports without the need to manually creating one for them.

"Not great for manufacturing"

What do you like best?

Provides a platform for accurately tracking costs and resource usage, provides an easy framework for viewing historical jobs one at a time, simplifies inventory tasks like cycle counts. Seems to have fewer glitches than competitor's ERP software.

What do you dislike?

Does not have the capability of taking resource capacity into account when scheduling, so I have to manually pull my data and manipulate it to get our schedules right. Ok for me because I understand demand and capacity planning, but very hard to explain to colleagues why we can't automatically go by the SAP production dates for manufacturing. This costs us on on time delivery which is very frustrating. I know that there is a manufacturing module you can purchase, but as a small subset of a large company we have no buying power for this.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Think about how you will use it and what additional modules you will need to add on before purchasing.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Order management and cost tracking. Also responding to inter-plant demand requirements.

"Corporate Accountant using SAP ERP"

What do you like best?

The data extracting ability is very comprehensive once you get the hang of it. While there is a steep learning curve, the amount of data mining that we are able to do in order to resolve accounting issues is very helpful.

What do you dislike?

The learning curve is very difficult and the training is very role specific making it difficult to train large numbers of people simultaneously. No two users are really doing the same thing or using the same T-Codes.

Recommendations to others considering the product

As a recent newcomer to this software, it is very easy to use and intuitive. I really like it compared to other software I have used at my previous accounting positions.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Intercompany clearings are made easier by using this software as it is easy to drill down to multiple locations and easily find areas that need to be fixed.

"The best run business run SAP"

What do you like best?

SAP products are very comprehensive in the business requirements they fulfill. I have been an SAP consultant for more than 6 years and believe me with some tweaking and enhancements you may map any business workflow with this ERP software.

What do you dislike?

The user interface of traditional ECC. However, SAP has came up with better products which are integrable with ECC and provides better UI e.g. SAP Fiori

Recommendations to others considering the product

"SAP ERP- Strong tool for big business"

What do you like best?

Global integration of data, real time updating, solid set of item master information. Great training options available. Solid support, with global knowledge of the tool due to a standard layout, set of reports, tables and fields. Great ways to view information globally and standardize processes across countries and languages.

What do you dislike?

Configuration options are very vast, and unless you're a programmer it's difficult to know what the system is capable of doing. It takes a high level consultant or someone who has a particularly high knowledge level to know these options. Those who do have the configuration access usually do not have the functional experience to be able to advise departments or functions on ways that may be better for operating and improving efficiency.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Take training courses to learn the options. It's impossible to know everything, but to open your eyes to the various avenues that are even possible. It is a very strong tool, but data management is of absolute importance.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We pair this with Demand Solutions, to have a robust forecast combined with the strong SAP MRP tool. THe real time view of inventory is very useful. SAP offers fantastic training programs, which will help users learn the tool and learn to be more efficient in their daily work. We have shelf life concerns with our product, and SAP enables us to plan for those expiration dates in a way that does not put our customers at risk.

"SAP Works Great but Confusing to Start"

What do you like best?

What I like about SAP is that it is extremely easy to use but only when you get a hang of it. What I would recommend is that people get trained when they're new to the product and set up favorites for the reports that they run.

What do you dislike?

It can be very challenging to figure out where to go to get the information that you want. We have a data team that enters the data for us so we can always ask how to get a certain piece of information but you're not going to have much luck looking on your own.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Receive training. Make favorites so you don't have to search or request help. It's an extremely powerful program that can save you time from using a lot of different systems. This would be a great product if you're trying to have a one stop shop for a lot of what you need.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Being able to track orders and keep track of all of our customers, warehouse information, billing, and personnel. We send the orders from our database to a server and then sent over to trucks where they run routes. We can see the breakdown of all of the products (with their specifications), our inventory and all of the orders they've been placed on. For our customers, can see all of the orders that they have ever placed, all of products that they consistently order and any bit of information that we may need.

"ABAPER - SAP ECC 6.0 720 Kernel "

What do you like best?

What I like best about ERP is the consistency of data across all modules. Since I am an ABAPER, we deal with different module specially when customization of standard is needed. Another thing I like best is the standards set by the SAP themselves. It's a relief to know that as long as I know the table names, the program variables, the naming convention and Tcodes, basically, I can use ERP, whether I am in the company, in the client or in the other company.

What do you dislike?

What I dislike is that ERP is not very friendly in terms of back up repository. I don't know to the recent version but I'm using NetWeaver 6.0. When I'm trying to change or update a line of codes in my part, I need to provide a lot of comments. I need to provide the date I changed the line of code, the reason why. I am not very familiar with the process of development since I'm have little experience. What I know is that they have a transport request but still, I think, what you transport would be the whole program and not the changes you made. Not like the Git.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would recommend the use of SAP ERP to other industries that deals so heavily with transactions. Since, it's an Enterprise Solution, it is better fit if every department is touched by it specially the core departments such as Finance and Controlling, Sales and Distribution and so on.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As an ABAPER, I am currently assigned to build up the internal repository of our ERP in the company. It's a disappointment that I need to create all the tables, the Message class, the Text Elements and the program itself separately. I barely manage to set-up the programs since there are a lot of dependencies. The tables are missing, the global object is missing. What I realized is that, it's very hard to transfer a whole pack of programs from an Client's ERP to the company's ERP.

"By far the strongest Enterprise Resource planning solution"

What do you like best?

Imagine this scenario, you have teams in India,Mexico and Houston Tx. Now imagine all of them have to be active and performing high demanding jobs in an immensely complex products and services catalog, along with non- prepared users and highly qualified supervisors, all of them 24/7 , 365 whatever you like to call it, you need a name to trust and it has to be a strong name behind your solutions.

What's best than the company that started it all?, the key is support, support and support, you have in this software the backing of a company with many years in the making and the best support you can get, period.

What do you dislike?

the learning curve tends to be a steep one, but if you apply yourself and build a training team with the right bases, you can totally pull it out, it's not like it's hard to understand but the philosophy behind this method of work is kinda hard to get accustomed to.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Get all the support before you begin, build a applicable training team , don't skim on learning resources, this is a hugely powerful tool and the cost of implementation can be prohibitive but it will return every penny you spend on getting the best solution out there in the market .

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We had many products with different units of measure, US based locations where having trouble translating this units to the rest of the world and with SAP we were able to unify these.

We benefited greatly, now we have a more responsive platform, we can now perform cyclic counts more regularly and adjustments in inventory are a breeze to do.

"Efficient"

What do you like best?

I like that this system is efficient. It is also easy to use and there are many tools to do many different analyses with.

What do you dislike?

I don't like that it takes a long time to load and that there are times where it freezes due to the size of the data dump I'm trying to export into Excel.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be mindful of the data you are trying to extract and the reports you are trying to run. Only extract the information you deem necessary to do your analyses.

"Best ERP for the moment"

What do you like best?

Is the most widely used app for ERP.

Is has on a single product, a particular module for every need.

What do you dislike?

you can customize it as much as you like, the trouble if you customize it so much, support and maintenance may become a headache.

SAP takes true long to release government specific requirements, so a lot of companies must customize.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure you do a good planning before implementing. from a good planning comes a good implementation.

Do NOT customize unless is the only way to fulfill your requirements, use it as standard as possible.

Press SAP vendor to deliver Fiscal mandatory requirements so, if a large community of customers demands it SAP may react with speed.

Whenever you need to develop for yourself, make sure you get good professionals for it, with good project management skills and with experience, in the long term, this will save time and money.

"Works well IF you know exactly where to look"

What do you like best?

It is a single platform that can run your business all the way from order entry to shipping and after market services. It is great to have all the data you need in one application. Since data is linked, there is built in mistake proof logic in most places. In many transactions, you can go from one to another for the same part # without having to exit out of one (by double clicking). It is role based so you can control who has access to which transactions and in what capacity. Roles are easy to copy from setting up a new user perspective. Custom reporting options are available. Many softwares now offer integration with SAP to pull/push data. Background batch jobs can be run on schedule or on demand. There is sandbox environment available to test before actual implementation of new processes.

What do you dislike?

Interface does not look modern. It is VERY transactional which makes it less user friendly. Unless you know exactly where to look and what to enter in various fields, you cannot find your way around the system. Highly customized implementation makes it difficult to transfer the knowledge from one place to another, even within a big company (especially true for big multinational corporations). Because it is not a standard product, knowledge base lies with the people who use the solution day in and day out. There are knowledge gaps and documentation or help from SAP menus may not be sufficient. There is a lack of graphical reporting (unless you have add ons like Crystal Reports). It is very difficult to make changes to the set up as you need a very specific skill set. Integration with other softwares is expensive if it does not come in the standard package, it is also time consuming and can be difficult.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be VERY careful in deciding how to set it up as it is difficult to change later. Think about how you want to work in the future as well as how your business processes are currently set up.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

SAP ERP is the backbone for our business. Without having an ERP, it will be extremely difficult to run a big business. SAP connects end-to-end product & order information for us. Everyone can see the same information (given that they have appropriate rights). It creates transparency across the supply chain. We use data from SAP to keep inventory levels at an optimum level. We use historical data from SAP in pretty much every department like finance, quality, manufacturing, sales, to drive improvement in our processes.

"Much better than Oracle!"

What do you like best?

I can view multiple plants status at one time; I review over 18 sites purchase history in one t-code, and can easily compare the usage. The reports are able to be exported in either PDF or Excel, making the data very work-able to get answers quickly. There are few times that I am stuck in a loading loop as well.

What do you dislike?

I wish there was a way to update the dollar values to a common currency so comparisons could be done real time. It also does not tell you the t-code of a screen when you save it to your favorites so it is much harder to share lessons learned with the team.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It is a quick and easy way to get a screenshot of what is going on cross-business; having the drawings stored in this system rather than a shared drive is a great feature as well.

"SAP ERP "

What do you like best?

SAP ERP makes some, or I should say most Accounting functions seamless! In fact SAP has a proven track record for providing business services, software, business intelligence among other initiatives in a high level fashion.

What do you dislike?

There, aren't many things to dislike about SAP's ERP software, however, they might be able to upgrade their layout a bit more, to make more of ease of the eyes, while viewing the monitor.

Recommendations to others considering the product

SAP provides a tons of great products and services for its customers, the organization has the business intelligence and software game figured out. Their support is awesome, and they have quality people, around that can assist you with all your needs and concerns immediately.

"User friendly, lacks ease to pull massive data queries."

What do you like best?

Very user friendly. Easy drop down boxes with shortcuts to ERP commands. Easy to look at. Relatively simple to extract data and transfer to excel / print.

What do you dislike?

It needs better copy / paste functions when pulling live data. The basic interface allows you to copy a limited # of line items in non-native SAP reports. With some of the reporting functions, the copy/paste into Microsoft excel can become sloppy.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

SAP is used as our main logistical system for manufacturing. We perform all of our costing within the system. It streamlines standard cost updates and saves a lot of time compared to our previous MAPICS ERP system.

"Usefull but sometimes painful experience "

What do you like best?

That you can use SAP for nearly every aspect of the business. There is not a role SAP cant done. Once you are into the transaction everythings runs smooth without major hickups.

What do you dislike?

The GUI is really terrible and outdated. It is really against all modern standards of computing. Also a problem is that they sell licence packages so if you need one more licence for one employee it aint going to happen. When I was working I had to wait until they had enough new users for the next package.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It takes a lot of work to implement it but ones its done its worth it !

"Good Without Customization"

What do you like best?

Reporting capabilities are impressive if used properly. The user interface that was developed is decently user friendly, but has many bugs. I have used SAP in a previous position for corporate tax reporting and found it easier to use and output of information was successful.

What do you dislike?

too much customization can lead to performance issues and bugs in the back office. Our version of SAP was far too customized to the point that we were only able to get a trial balance and not fully integrated financial statements from the system.

Recommendations to others considering the product

"Enterprise Resource Planning using SAP ERP modules"

What do you like best?

SAP integrates and streamlines all the business functions. It has a three-layered architecture and a robust solution that can be configured for the business processes. The best feature of SAP for me is that it is a single platform for multiple business functions (HR, AP, FI, MM) and hence coordination between different business is streamlined through the software.

What do you dislike?

The user interface is not intuitive and is a little difficult to get accustomed to. Also, for accounts payable module the processing is slow with the heavy volume of invoices.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make the user interface more friendly and better customer support for technical issues.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

In our company SAP is used for HR functions, Vendor Invoice Management, Materials Management and Sales and Distribution. I work mostly in Vendor Invoice Management and we were able to decrease the Invoice processing time substantially (>50%) through SAP AP module.

"Customize no matter your size"

What do you like best?

I love the customization of SAP - you can build a system around your workflow and it will integrate with the contracts or orders from almost any company/clients you interact with. If you have in-house IT its even better. I can't tell you how many times we asked for custom reports from our key metrics and they were able to deliver!

What do you dislike?

For all the pros of SAP customization, some modules do feel slightly clunky and are visually outdated. Its a small tradeoff compared to the ease of use however.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Customize, customize, customize!!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Full cycle integration for CRM and ERP systems - everything links rather seamlessly as long as your data entry is consistent. Using the system for all of your orders, documents, client information, contracts, etc., it makes reporting a breeze, even on short notice.

"I have been an SAP professional for over 15 years with emphasis on the Technical/Basis layer."

What do you like best?

Integration, Integration, Integration! Our business was able to consolidate numerous independent systems into our single SAP ERP system. The integration touch points of the modules ensure data integrity that had to previously be manually performed. Also, the technical layer of the SAP ERP systems has made tremendous strides and is remarkably stable.

What do you dislike?

SAP Support! We pay a lot of money for our annual maintenance/support. Over the years we have been an SAP customer, the support has gotten worse and worse. It now takes 3 or 4 level support (meaning you have been through 3 or 4 people) before getting someone that can understand and help with complex questions. Support is always available as it does roll with the sun, but I don't know if you get what you pay for!

Recommendations to others considering the product

You pay for what you get in the consulting world. Make sure you select an implementation partner that is trusted and proven. We have found that the smaller, specialized consulting firms provide the best support, but are the most expensive. Also, pick hardware, operating systems, and a database that you company is familiar with and can support long term.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We initially implemented SAP ERP for HR/Payroll. In addition, we now use SAP for HCM/Payroll, Finance, Purchasing, Learning Solutions, and a host of other business functions that all integrate in one system.

"We effectively run most of our organization with SAP"

What do you like best?

SAP is very stable and the up-time from an end user perspective is phenomenal. This is the first time we have had a truly integrated system across the company. Once users are trained, they are amazed at beign able to stay in one system all day and see real-time transactions updated. We enjoy the variety of BI tools available for reporting.

What do you dislike?

We wish it were easier to build real-time queries within SAP. This has been a struggle from the start with SAP. Also, users complain about user-friendliness. Consultants with SAP knowledge in any area can be very expensive. SAP is buying up some bolt-on third party applications and advertise these as seamless integration but we have seen some challenges in our investigative work on this.

SAP gets you all the information that you need at one single place. The massive amount of design advantage SAP ERP gets as a product in development since 190's gives it a huge edge against competitors, especially for power users..

What do you dislike?

Too much customization by companies blows up the product. I have seen companies bleeding with the customization they did years back, and are now investing tonnes of money to reimplement S4Hana. SAP needs to realize they need to make your solution intutive.

"SAP Review"

What do you like best?

Everything is organized to the extent that nothing is hard to find. Menus are easily navigable once some time is spent with them. Screens pop up fast and many options are given. Companies can customize the program however they see fit, to handle multiple processes, systems and roles. Incredibly versatile.

What do you dislike?

Shortcuts and quick commands are nice to have, but for someone to be able to memorize all of the quick commands may be too tall a task. At times it even seems like knowing the quick commands is required to be able to navigate the system. Can seem overwhelming occasionally.

Recommendations to others considering the product

There is not another suite available that compares to SAP.

There is some work involved in making that happen at times, but SAP an essentially be a complete workplace system with some TLC. I have been able to do away with having to use multiple programs and processes to fulfill the many roles of my position because SAP can handle it all.

"Excellent software but company has over developed the system"

What do you like best?

The overall user interface is easy to use and makes internal and external reports very accessible. Otherwise complex data is easily organized and readily available using the user friendly interface.

What do you dislike?

The software speed is very slow for a ERP system. I find myself waiting for several minutes for the system to load when processing reports. When using our VPN system at home it appears the software performs the slowest vs working on the internal network in our local offices.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Quick and easy access to data that would be usually very challenging to pull for internal and external meetings.

"SAP review for Finance Mgr"

What do you like best?

There are many ways to view data and slice and dice it. You can go into a GRR3 (fixed costs) and view it by cost center or view it by your financial reporting method (we use compass ). You can drill into the data to get the details. The problem with this is sometimes there is a very granular information. What is nice, is that you can have multiple transactions up and running at a certain time. So you can pivot between viewing data one way vs another way.

What do you dislike?

I don't like the export features. It's hard to convert in except if you are exporting a text file. It's also difficult to see various features (user name won't display but user ID will, so I need to find out who put the transaction in by looking up that user ID and doing an extra step).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Looking at actual vs budget for costs. Looking up where we stand at a given point by using current year to date data.

"Ability to do multiple functions for accounting"

What do you like best?

Very wide range of different functions you can use such as uploading rates that certain profit centers or labels abide by. Ability to do test environments is nice.

What do you dislike?

Confusing interface with Tcodes, very hard to figure out solo as every company can vary. Many items on our list that go unused as they seem to be outdated. Sometimes the passwords expire too quickly, It would be helpful to have a reset password the user can do instead of IT resetted it everytime.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Receive training on this. It has a lot of customization and there are many functions available but not as user friendly, as it is based off Codes.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Able to do accounting via journal entry upload and uploading different rate tables plus downloading reports

"SAP ERP"

What do you like best?

I love that I can pull time and expense report and have the raw data with every detail I could ever need. I understand that it isn't very user friendly for a beginner, but once you have the list of commands by your side, and understand what you're looking for, this ERP is a dream.

What do you dislike?

Although it doesn't impact me much now, but it would be nice if there was a more user-friendly interface regarding commands (say, a simple menu to find these options rather than memorizing commands).

Recommendations to others considering the product

Definitely the tool to use if you're role requires digging into details.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I manage financials for projects, and use SAP reports to pull actual data. This helps in ensuring that appropriate costs/expenses/revenue are hitting.

What do you dislike?

I really dislike all the code names for transactions. It'd be helpful to have some kind of description in the name. The transactions aren't obvious and their functions aren't clear either. i had to go to many systems training to learn most them. I don't think it's very user friendly.

"SAP ERP is enterprise resource planning software and the most powerful ERP in today's World."

What do you like best?

The main thing i like best about SAP ERP is, it consists of several modules, including utilities for marketing and sales, field service, product design and development, production and inventory control, human resources, finance and accounting. SAP ERP collects and combines data from the separate modules to provide the company or organization with enterprise resource planning. There' no need to hire people of various department's. Everything is combined into 1 ERP software.

It allows easier global integration (barriers of currency exchange rates, language, and culture can be bridged automatically). It updates only need to be done once to be implemented company-wide.

What do you dislike?

What I dislike about SAP ERP is that it is not very much user-friendly. The UI is very old and does not provide any user friendliness. It is very difficult for a newbie to learn the menus. Also, inflexibility - where vendor packages may not fit a company's business model well and customization can be expensive is another thing I dislike about SAP ERP.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

SAP ERP is bundled into a single package wherein a company who implements SAP ERP can use it very easily. Buisness is taken to a new level. Also, SAP ERP optimizes the whole business functionality, which in turn helps in getting more productivity.

What do you like best?

Integration between modules and with other SAP products is excellent;. Extensive breadth of products. Ability to enhance and customize is outstanding and flexible.

What do you dislike?

Support is expensive and difficult to get answers from representatives. They have made some improvements but still a ways to go to become a true customer service organization.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We run 70% or more of all our business transactions using SAP in a 24 x 7 environment. Primary exception is HR and we are better off without it in our ERP system due to the regular legal updates required.

"Solid ERP with reliable business processes"

What do you like best?

The tight integration between different business areas and processes. The system is reliable and helped us with the transparency that was not available in the legacy system. The users seem to like the solution and has overall increased the efficiency.

What do you dislike?

Integrating with non-SAP systems may not provide with the flexibility in every scenarios. The screens do not look very intuitive so the initial training costs maybe higher than other ERPs.

Recommendations to others considering the product

SAP provides reliable ERP platform for end to end business processes. It works best for migration scenarios where the legacy system fails to provide the level of transparency at the company level.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Excellent Inventory tracking "

What do you like best?

I like that I can run reports in real time and be able to forecast much more effectively that I could before. It is super easy to use and helps keep us on track.

What do you dislike?

I dislike that only a certain number of licenses are purchased rather than a whole program with unlimited users. It already cost millions to switch, but we need more licenses and I wish those were unlimited.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Learn how to use the reports. It is so important. Also, get more licenses than you currently need.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"It's Powerful but Complicated"

What do you like best?

I like I can have multiple screens up at once and that I can have 2 different screens across my 2 monitors at my desk.

What do you dislike?

I'm not a fan of the navigation of the other areas of the system I have access to ERP info - employees, position ID's, department information, pay, classification, etc.

What do you dislike?

It's not intuitive, but maybe we didn't keep it vanilla enough, I don't know. We've had it since ~2006. It's hard to hire programmers for ABAP. It must be difficult to make changes/configure, b/c we have a long list of 'projects' and many won't get done. I often hear that concurrent employment is an issue (we are a University). We have positions and owners listed, but we can't print org charts.

Recommendations to others considering the product

make sure what they show you is an actual product and not an R&D demo. don't go config crazy.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We moved from a legacy system [with object codes, I think referred to as DSS (Decision Support System)]. Luckily, for HR purposes, I only have to use SAP to look up information. I'm an HR user, but not a primary/super user.

As an employee, for ESS, I use everything available (view/print paystub), update address, online leave entry for exempt staff (employee enters and supervisor approves), online performance evaluations (entry of goals, self appraisal, etc). I think the leaves feature has been available since 2011. The performance evaluations in SAP started in 2013.
