Great Onboarding platform for process simplification, automation and globalization

What do you like best?

The ease of set up, the fact changes can easily be made in house means that we can keep all the tasks, trainings and policies up to date.

The dashboard is a wonderful feature for each of the players in the process as they know exactly what they have to do and when it needs to be done.

It has greatly improved our global onboarding and provided a uniform process that has been applied world-wide with customizations in regions where the volume of recruiting warranted it.

What do you dislike?

The reporting feature works well but not when you have a large number of tasks in a workflow and may new hires as the report will only present a certain number of lines at once.

Upgrades to the system have sometimes caused temporary problems with our access.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Hold a workshop with a cross-functional team of everyone involved in the process and have a comprehensive list of pain points. Prioritize these pain points and work with the Silk Road team to see which ones they can help you solve.

What business problems are you solving? What benefits have you realized?

We had new hires starting in our organization and had no idea what was expected of them during their onboarding. They were confused about what they had to do, what they had already done and when it needed to be completed.

We also had many managers not getting ready for their new hire on time as the process was very manual and time consuming.

Silk Road Onboarding has reduced the confusion and workload for both the new hires and their manager.

Silkroad Learning

What do you like best?

Silkroad Learning was very easy to implement, and has allowed myself and my team to create content once and use it in multiple instances. This has saved significant time and money spent on content development and deployment. It has allowed me, as an Administrator, to easily push training out to our new hires and to track required training across many organizations within our company. SilkRoad Learning has been easy for our users to implement, as the student portal is very user-friendly.

What do you dislike?

The reporting capability can be difficult to customize. Would love more AdHoc reporting.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Definitely take the time to go through Demos and speak to current users. Attend SilkRoad Connections every year once you become a user. It is a valuable experience to hear the future of the company and the products, and to meet current users to hear/see how they are using the products to their fullest capacity.

What business problems are you solving? What benefits have you realized?

Delivering training to our company and franchise users. SilkRoad Learning has allowed us to save time in content development and deployment to our users. The benefits are numerous, we have been able to better track required training and overall eLearning usage and completion with this system. We have been able to more effectively push required training to our users and involve our supervisors in the tracking of such training via scheduled reporting.

SilkRoad Technology Review

What do you like best?

The OpenHire (recruiting) product is very user friendly, customizable and has great manager features. The business that I was a part of also used WingSpan (performance management/comp.), RedCarpet (onboarding) and HeartBeat (HRMS). They have a wide array of products and a few of them have the capability to exchange information back and forth (OpenHire & RedCarpet). The implementation teams were always very helpful and provided great realistic timelines.

What do you dislike?

When we first signed up their customer service was much better. Now they have gotten to big and their customer service is lacking or they don't have enough resources or they aren't well informed. Their HeartBeat system doesn't have a lot of capabilities and many things are still very manual. The reporting is awful and there is no ability to do custom reports (which we weren't aware of). We were under the understanding that the products talked to each other so we could cut down on multiple entry and passwords and this wasn't the case, you had to implement a separate program that you could do data exchanges (but this was still manual).

Recommendations to others considering the product

Do your due diligence and ask a lot of questions. Don't just have them show you what they want to show you in the demos. Get a list of customers to do interviews with so you get a real taste of the systems you are looking to buy. And if implementing multiple systems don't do all at once, take your time and involve the business so they buy into the product as well.

What business problems are you solving? What benefits have you realized?

Cutting down on multiple entry into multiple systems and one platform to have a similar look and feel for end users as well as save money.

We really didn't see any benefits as we kept having to shell out money and spend money on additional modules to help enhance our portfolio.

I LOVE RedCarpet

What do you like best?

RedCarpet is the technology we never knew we needed and now cannot live without! My favorite aspect of the product is that is allows for the customization of the onboarding process to our many different programs and locations. Providing new hires access to information before they even come in the first day provides for a much more productive day 1 because they may have completed tasks or come ready with questions based on the information they have been reviewing.

What do you dislike?

I don't think there is anything I dislike. Implementation support was amazing although I wish I had done more needs assessment before building my first workflow.

Go for it!

What business problems are you solving? What benefits have you realized?

We have consolidated all of our new hire paperwork electronically. This allows for the many administrative departments (IT, Accounting, HR) to work simultaneously on their own tasks without having to wait for paperwork to get turned in and then passed around. We now receive high ratings on our onboarding satisfaction surveys because new employees are getting consistent information and in a timely manner.

Helpful Products

What do you like best?

Red Carpet has been my favorite product as it has allowed us to automate a lot of a new hires setup. OpenHire has also allowed us to be more efficient than our old email way of hiring people. The products have helped us streamline and allowed us to concentrate on other priorities.

What do you dislike?

From the employee/user perspective the products are great and easy to use; the administration side is another story. Many of the products, especially Wingspan, are complicated and not very intuitive from the administrators side. Also, the support team is helpful when you call but not very responsive when you email.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be sure to spend a lot of time evaluating the administrator side. We focused too much on the end user side and did not realize the complexity of the administrator side; especially of Wingspan.

What business problems are you solving? What benefits have you realized?

We have solved much of our manual processes with these products. They have allowed us to be more efficient from reviewing resumes to hiring, to onboarding and then to managing performance. We had very manual, paper focused processes before and things would often fall through the cracks. These products have really helped us manage our processes and keep records of everything.
