The context of this review is only using Smart Focus's email platform vs. their data insights + message cloud solutions. Using all 3 means you'll have full marketing automation.
Clunky UI (although this may be updated) and hard to quickly on-board others. Data insight is a download to excel affair vs. using an intuiative dashboard past opens, sends etc...
As with any project, truly articulate what you are trying to achieve. When you know, seek out numerous vendors to understand their background, their present solutions and what they are investing in.
Many companies come from a data management background, then bolt on the ESP function. Others are ESPs with whom get acquired by data management companies. Smart Focus I'd say is the latter yet from my experience they do all the same things.
Consider whether you want full marketing automation. Smart Focus works on volume based pricing whilst other vendors are more inclusive in their pricing. i.e. they operate on a subscriber no. model + give you a fully integrated customer personalisation suite.
Smart Focus have 3 products. One is a traditional ESP. One is integrating the Data insights. The last stitches the previous two together called Message Cloud. If you want all three you will not see much change out of £60k+.
Batch and Blast emails for marketing purposes vs. transaction emails and marketing related emails.
I like it because it includes personalization elements in real time, such as a countdown, interactive coupons or personalized videos. It makes your web page alive even in the slightest instant. Simplifies content delivery. Let the algorithms automate what's important, like the next best offer and the price range of the recommended articles.
It adapts what the visitor sees of your web based on the emails in which they have clicked and seen, the web pages visited and their previous consuting
It requires a lot of coordination, to enter elements to update the product under construction to increase our clientele and to publicize our product.
My recommendation is that they continue with their interface improvement, and with the mother of tools that the software provides.
This software helps us in the distribution of our products to the clients with information in real time and knowing the context of each individual according to age, sex and location we can know their interests
As a company with a small group in which needs to send out many newsletter marketing campaigns, it definitely can be rather difficult. A system like this was necessary for our group in order to get all these emails sent out with a small group of people to work it. I love the management to see the confirmations of emails through the system itself, very convenient.
The support team was very poor in my opinion as they weren't really around to help at times when I needed it most and had a campaign that needed to get out. The cost is also much higher than anything else we at the time tried or even looked into.
It is a solid program with both many pros and many cons in my opinion. I would suggest contacting them about possibly a trial first as this way you will get to try it before making a large investment toward it. It does have features other competitors dont, so its really up to you if those are worth it to you or not.
Getting marketing campaigns out to large amounts of potential customers seemingly easily and allows our group to save time and man power for different projects and things going on. Ended up being a quick return on investment because of the amount of information were were able to get out and sales made from those.
The customer first mentality is unbeatable on SmartFocus and it really gives me the best picture on what the users needs/wants are
I dislike very little, but the interface experience does leave a bit to be desired
Make sure you utilize all the tools that help you analyze the user base in the marketing journey! It’ll help to a better outcome
In terms of getting to know how our brand may positively/negatively work with our client, this platform is top
SmartFocus is easy to use and allows for responsive design within its WYSIWYG layout. While is still allows me to go in and use HTML to hand code elements of it's design if I choose, SmartFocus has allowed users who may not have this background to still design and create emails.
A-B testing, segmented lists, isolating email sends by states or regions, SmartFocus has allowed us to dial in our customer base on a more detailed level then the systems we have used in the past.
There is a learning curve, like any new system, and SmartFocus is not quite as intuitive as it could be. I could see how someone new to email Marketing might not even know where to look for all of the robust features that SmartFocus offers.
SmartFoucs has had an issue in the 3 years I've been using it to go down, sometimes for more then a day. If you have not scheduled your emails ahead of time, or need a last second update this can make using their software problematic. While they will send out updates saying they are aware of the issues, you're still left in the dark as to how long it might be out, or when the site is back up with out trying to log in.
With SmartFocus we've been able to double our year over year email sales. By using many of its out of the box features we've continued to refine our email list. While counter-intuitive to our ownership, we are now having more customers open, click and most importantly buy for our emails all while sending to less people.
Nothing. The customer service is atrocious and the system is down.
We decided to use Smart Focus as we believed it to be one of the leading companies in this field. The system has been down since last Wednesday with only a single email of communication from the CIO and no contact from the Account Manager who has gone AWOL and is ignoring calls. This is an extremely unprofessional company and I would warn anyone against using them.
Don't. In this day and age, for a technical company to be off-line for almost a week is completely unacceptable.
Transmission of all business emails.
The ability to easily navigate through the software with assessable tool to use.
The slowness of the system at are slower
Great software to utilize
Detailed marketing products and systems
The real time customer integration is what I like best
I do not have any complaints about this.
Helps me stay in contact with our customers
The technical support team has been always there to help us to launch our email marketing campaigns, and give solution to our questions in the moment needed, this has helped to grow quickly in knowledge use and go ahead when you want to deal with new tests or just improve the ways you need to do things.
The reports, and the information needed to analyse quickly the ongoing KPI is easy to check, it gives a quick view of the situation of your campaigns.
The structure to load the database is rigid when you need to deal with a database in languages that need special characters, but this is sth that, as fas as I've worked with other ESP, have simlar problems. Regarding reports, to extract the information and share it with other stakeholders needs to be improved.
Before considering any ESP try first before. Regarding Emaivision, if you're launching your email marketing strategy and you want somebody on the other side that helps you at any moment, don't hesitate, the technical support team is great!
It was a reasonablyeasy system to use and set up email campaigns, i never used its enhanced capabilities as we were an organisation that created files and sent content to all of them at the same time so not particularly advanced email communication
They had huge amounts of downtime, and released updates continually that didnt work meaning you could not actually send the emails for days at a time. Not helpful with daily newsletters,.
make sure up time issues have been solved
Obviously i didnt see any benefits
Emailvision gave us the tools and confidence to focus on our marketing campaigns rather than the technical complexities of email marketing.
The learning curve was steep. We have 2 dedicated people that design and manage our account. Return Path Certification is expensive...but worth it.
Use their API's. We use Emailvision’s API to send customers’ post-interaction emails to solicit product reviews. Compared to site visitors who did not ‘use’ site reviews (read and/or write), review users experienced a lift of 215% in page views per visit, 192% increased time on site, 172% in conversions and 136% revenue per visit. Assurance that our customers get these emails in their in-boxes is crucial.
Easy to use and fast to capture the data
Need to scroll to find what you're looking for
Consolidation of data
Emailvision is easy to use and it's useful to the point that it gave us the tools and confidence to focus on marketing campaigns rather than the technical complexities of email marketing.
Well some people may find it hard to get started if you're not familiar with this type of software but other than that it's great.
Would totally recommend, does what it's meant to.
Integration with certain applications is not simple
Loading time and integration with other systems
Nurturing campaign
