"Talkwalker: a powerful social analytics tool up there with the big guns"

What do you like best?

It's easy to use for all levels (entry to advanced) and serves the needs of our range of global clients. As a Talkwalker power user, it's important for me to have a range of functionality, as this has allowed me to find new and interesting approaches to answering client questions.

As someone who's used quite a few tools on the market, Talkwalker is the one that left me with the fewest questions asking 'it would be great if they had that' as they have so much functionality and have clearly built this with an analyst in mind as opposed to features that just look/sound 'cool' in theory. Also, there are several things I am yet to use, but great to know capabilities are there when we have a suitable use case and continuously adding new features.

What do you dislike?

That search results are not infinite and instead capped, but this is a limitation on most tools on the market.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you want a tool that can suit all levels of analysts, and offers a range of filters, sub-filters, and platform coverage then this is the tool for you. Also the ability to use a variety of advanced Boolean operators, which any technical user will very much appreciate. The customer service to date has also been excellent.

"TalkWalker completes our analytics procesess"

What do you like best?

What we like the most form TalkWalker is the flexibility and personalization of the searches. Now we have the possibility to access different results and queries due to the quick loading and easy way of asking for data. We work with lots of searches, TalkWalker makes everything easier to organize. Also the alerts system is very important for us, due to the need of a quick identification of any reputation crisis.

What do you dislike?

We do not dislike it, but I think as a user you need to learn how to use the tool. TalkWalker is so complete that you need to work on it to take advantage of all the possibilities it has. Then you have to be open minded to included that amount of that in your reports.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The main business problem that we solve with TalkWalker is the identification and monitorization of potential reputation crisis.

"Really useful tool, full of data <3"

What do you like best?

I like to have lots of different types of data. You can easily compare your requests. Your reports can be personalized and send directly via email. And there is excellent integration with Hootsuite. You can also use the influencer detection tool to identify accounts to target in your paid campaign, especially with Twitter.

What do you dislike?

Perhaps it takes a little bit of time to set up your account at the beginning. But if you want something perfect you need to do it :) There are lots of available data in the platform so you have to be careful to use just only what you need and not be distracted by all the others.

We finally know our share of voice for our various markets. We can control with more efficiency or e-reputation.

"Perfect !"

What do you like best?

Talkwalker is a very good tool to track the mentions of its companies on the web. It allows you to manage your reputation in real time, follow your communication campaigns and analyze the results of your social networks. The personalized support with the account manager (Damien) is excellent. Reactivity and professionalism are the key words of Talkwalker ! We discovered this year this tool, we will not do without it !

What do you dislike?

Honestly, everything suits us ! It is perfect !

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Before we used several complementary free tools to track the ereputation, the monitoring of social networks, etc ... These tools had flaws ... Thanks to Talkwalker, everything is gathered in a tool, we save time and the results are complete and reliable! Real-time alerts and reporting are really great!

"10 month with Talkwalker"

What do you like best?

Talkwalker offers access to a huge variety of data sources and provides a lot of innovative functionality for social listening such as an AI engine that allow us to classify our data The developers constantly improve the user experience and data analysis by frequently adding new features.

What do you dislike?

Even after using the tool for almost a year I'm still not fully convinced by the demographic information that Talkwalker provides. The amount of information is fairly basic and the more interesting pieces of information mostly come from Twitter and Instagram. Furthermore, there is still limited access to eastern Social Media sites but they are keen on adding more platforms.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Talkwalker offers a very comprehensive social listening solution, constant updates and great technical support. We tried a number of other social listening tools but Talkwalker is definitely one of the best products out there both in terms of data sources and features.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Talkwalker allows us to track and analyze our campaigns and topics across the internet. The tool makes it easy to set up and share monitoring dashboard and allows us to be constantly informed of and quickly react to recent developments.

Specific problems that we are solving with Talkwalker are:

- Finding out how much attentions our client's campaigns have received across the different digital platforms over time

- Analyzing sentiments in user comments to identify and quickly react to potential negative reactions

- Setting up command center screens to monitor the performance of our clients' social media channels and to find out what our clients' competition is doing

"What A Find!! Crossing fingers, You, Talkwalker, Never Go Out of Business!!"

What do you like best?

- easy to use

- many filters

- If I tell to "Send me Everything", it will!

- it does exactly what i want it to, and it's free (but there is an advanced plan too)

- I like that I get a separate email for each query. So I can easily search my inbox and find what I'm looking for.

What do you dislike?

One featured I have already suggested is an ability to exclude certain words. Say, I'm looking for everything "marketing strategy" but a job - related mentions.

But this is something you can live with!

"Thorough and effective, an ideal platform for marketers"

What do you like best?

- Simply gives everything you'd expect and want from a social media monitoring platform

- Detailed filter system.

- Great customer support.

- Comprehensive user manuals and documentations.

- Embedded Google Translate support for results is a big plus for international clients.

What do you dislike?

- Inability to change the color scheme of sentiment tag clouds.

- Automatic sentiment tagging was 50%-50% in German.

- UI can be improved, looks slightly outdated and a bit tricky for newcomers to understand intuitively.

- This might be my mistake, but being able to create comparisons between two, three different keyword results would be good

We are using TalkWalker to access customer conversation directly about the brands or brand categories and topics. While the process haven't yet made a big impact on our client's communication, we are happy with TalkWalker's performance. Our vision is to achieve long-term goals with TalkWalker instead of short-term wins.

"Best of breed platform, great service"

What do you like best?

The simplicity and ease of use of the TalkWalker platform, while allowing you to conduct complex queries and sophisticated analysis. Probably the best thing about TalkWalker are the people who provide support and training. Their honesty and openness is unrivaled in the industry.

What do you dislike?

More of a general dislike of to all platforms is the lack of data coverage of newly emerging commenting sites, such as disqus. All tools suffer from the chaotic data landscape.

"Talkwalker is more powerful than it looks"

What do you like best?

- Easy setup

- Highly detailed/flexible analytics

- Extremely user friendly

- High performance with respect to Twitter results

- Powerful influencer and top discussed topics identification

- "Visual insights" is one of the most unique elements I've seen in a listening tool

- Filters are very straight forward and are easy to use

What do you dislike?

- Overall display can improve

- Country identification(accurate, but it can improve)

- Gender identification

- Youtube is barely covered

- Very few Facebook results(a common issue for listening tools)

- Sentiment analysis for foreign languages is inaccurate(Arabic as an example)

- User demographics can improve

"Top functions and customer support"

What do you like best?

TalkWalker gives you great flexibility in data visualizing and query creation, real-time functions and alerts, and very accurate graphs.

Customer support is best in class, with high availability of the TalkWalker team for suggestions, call conferences and updates about new tools and possible workflows.

Not only you can get great quality technical support, but the TalkWalker team can help you on crafting tactics and strategies to best suit your company needs.

What do you dislike?

The lack of sentiment evaluation accuracy sometimes gives mistaken results for the Italian language

The poor personalization in .csv and .xls export files structure sometimes makes it difficult to mix different data types together, especially if you want to build your own database from which analyzing multiple data cause-effect relations by excel analysis.

Very good for reputation and sentiment analysis, great if you need to evaluate the effectiveness of different contents/topics across different platforms.

What do you like best?

The platform has been very useful to our team in receiving information on chatter about our brand across the digital landscape. It has enabled us to identify conversations pertaining to sensitive issues as well as identify trends and monitor brand sentiment.

What do you dislike?

The platform lacks information on emerging platforms and can be inaccurate in sentiment.

"A great product of social media monitoring but unusable."

What do you like best?

I have got to try Talkwalker in all its functionality. It is an excellent product that can lead to a wide audience access to advanced tools of social media monitoring. I was able to make the comparison with other tools I used and I must say that is powerful, easy to use, clear in reading the data.

What do you dislike?

But their pricing model and limits are very crazy. You have a limit and if you exceed it you no longer have access to project data nor tells you on what terms you went outside the quota. You are forced to operate in the dark at attempts. Really unusable.

ADDENDUM: Now they had correct their pricing model and limits of views.

"Talkwalker has been a game changer"

What do you like best?

Talkwalker allows us to set up searches in the most efficient way possible. It's user friendly and the analytics are robust. The staff is great to work with and has been instrumental in quickly learning to use the system - they respond quickly and are patient with new customers.

What do you dislike?

Like with any software, the sentiment analysis can be somewhat inaccurate. However, it is better than other programs we've used.

We are able to offer our clients valuable insight into their customer base. Talkwalker allows us to capture content easily across the web, providing our clients with ways to engage with customers who do not directly engage with them via social sites. Through the enhanced analytics, such as occupiation, marital status, and interests, we have realized that our clients can take the data and find unique ways to market to and engage with customers outside of the scope of their product/industry.

"My experience with Talkwalker"

What do you like best?

The Talkwalker platform is a very useful tool because it allows to have a global vision of the social noise of a brand. It also allows knowing what, how much and where a particular thing has been said. Another positive point of Talkwalker is customer service; they are always available to answer any questions. You can analyze the data according to location, social network, period of time ... This is very useful when carrying out specific studies.

Personally, I recommend Talkwalker to companies that are dedicated to analyzing results of campaigns on social networks.

A possible improvement that the platform has is the way to make the query; It could be more intuitive.

"Best in the market"

What do you like best?

Been using Talkwalker for close to a year now. It's very powerful when it comes to conducting a market research along with added social media analytics. They keep on adding functionalities which is definitely a sign that they are keeping up with the trends and the requirements of the industry.

What do you dislike?

Can be more. Their print coverage involves a 3rd party which is painful sometimes. Also inhouse publishing and reporting will surely make it a complete solution.

And also really easy to correlate publications with engagement over time

For big topic, time to process millions of datas is sometimes long

The Commande center should be free and clickable as the dashboards

What do you like best?

When you start working with Talkwalker you can't go back. It is easy to use whith ready to use apps but you have the possibility to go deeper with a lot of functionality.

The support you can have with their Customer Success Manager and the constant improvement of the platform makes Talkwalker a must-have tool

Maybe the price ? But when you choose to drive a Ferrari don't be surprise by the price ;)

"Best metrics so far "

What do you like best?

All in all, Talkwalker provides you with all required metrics for your business. Flexibility and UI friendly. The ability to export everything, white label and generate alerts/reports, makes everything convenient for your team and clients.

What do you dislike?

It is only the export 20K results limitation that sometimes bothers as you need to export twice or more sometimes and then combine results (might be not an issue for others)

Well, Talkwalker is not a problem solver! It depends how you use the tool to resolve your issues and TW just help you out always. IQ Apps covers most of "problem solving" reqs. for any user/client.

"Quick search tool review"

What do you like best?

The Quick Search Tool is very user friendly and easy to use. It's a powerful tool to discover the most engaging content, refine the SEO texts and hashtags that should be used.

What do you dislike?

There's nothing I don't like, but as the tool is so powerful, maybe Talkwalker should make more tutorials available on how to use it.

It's a pity that we can not monitor LinkedIn, but it's not a Talkwaker issue.

What do you like best?

The system is partially slow, as it needs to load massive amounts of data

"Powerful & accurate tool "

What do you like best?

- Powerful tools which allows to capture results from everywhere at an international scale (recommended for international businesses)

- High level of customization for queries, reports & alerts

- Even if not tool-related, Talkwalker staff is very competent and friendly accompanying users in creating a new project & modifying it. For a new user like this has been crucial to make the best out of the tool.

- Continuously improving, in 3 years as a Talkwalker's customer I saw a lot of new useful functionalities being implemented

What do you dislike?

- Just like every analytics tool the queries must be set well in order to capture the best results. 3 years ago the query evaluation was time-consuming as you needed to wait a few hours, the time for Talkwalker to generate results. Today this has been completely cancelled thanks to the new functionality which allows to see results before saving your query, great work!

"Talkwalker - True hands on experience"

What do you like best?

TW is completely open and customizable. It can be used for detailed social monitoring and web listening but also for more unhortodox purposes. Data import, API, AI engine and other features gives the opportunity to imagine and create new ways to use data to accomplish marketing and communication objectives.

The pricing model is a bit unhandy if you are planning to grow your business or the number of mentions to analyze

Its ability to translate the complex data into simple charts and graphs that are easy to understand and to present to the management.

The fact that It is not possible to present some figures in the forms of graphs, p.e. the rise of unique authors throughout a selected time period.

"Talkwalker alerts"

What do you like best?

Talkwalker alerts are an excellent way of keeping up with breaking news online.

I use this service to monitor client coverage in real-time by selecting the 'as it happens' function. For slower moving news, I select alerts for 'once a day' or 'once a week'.

This ensures I get client coverage as it's breaking online.

It's very easy to set up & edit your Talkwalker alerts at any time.

It's also a free service, which is welcome. Media monitoring services can be expensive.

What do you dislike?

You have to ensure the alerts don't go into your 'clutter' or 'junk' folders.

Also inevitably these alerts can pick up articles that aren't relevant to your client (especially if your client you're monitoring has a generic name).

It enables me to keep track of breaking news as it happens on behalf of my clients.

The Analysis element of the service is powerful, quick and comprehensive enough to handle most standard media monitoring and analysis requirements. The global reach of the monitored sources makes the tool very strong in supporting clients with a worldwide brief. Turn to the IQ Apps and you unlock more analytics, more focus leading to more insight. The platform is fully customisable - build your own dashboards and automated reports to help cater to any reporting / output requirement. Go even further by plugging in your own data sources to help drive wholistic data handling in the same platform enabling users to draw parallels and correlation across multiple data sources - this is where TalkWalker stands apart from the competition, effectively working as a provider of a powerful business intelligence suite.

New innovative apps and widgets come online regularly to help with data interpretation and manipulation.

Customer support has been faultless. Fast responses from a knowledgeable account team inspire great confidence in the service.

What do you dislike?

The automated sentiment needs refining, but then automated sentiment is not an exact science. Tightening this would make for an even more compelling offer. The ability to manage projects within a user account could be more flexible, making more productive use of the data allowance available.

"Excellent platform that keeps getting better."

What do you like best?

The wide variety of formats available to visualize our data, as well as all the options for exporting the data and graphs to office documents and directly onto websites, makes extracting the information we need in support of our decision making much simpler, reducing workloads and allowing the same number of analysts to cover larger topics.

We also love that they incorporate our feedback into their development roadmap meaning that issues we have with the platform don't usually last very long.

What do you dislike?

Changing/editing topics, filters and channels requires leaving the page you are working on. This disrupts your rhythm of work some times. This also means that the initial setup takes a little longer then necessary.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Prior to settling on Talkwalker, we investigated and tried a large amount of competing tools. All were either significantly more expensive (for our use case) or offered much less flexibility.

We have found that not only has Talkwalker allowed us to replace our previous platform, we are now considering replacinng other tools also, which will translate into cost savings.

We have achieved greater efficiency in our operational proceedures by using a graphics based interface compared to our previous model. This allows for faster reaction times and a greater understanding of the context surrounding what we are looking at.

"Widespread monitoring tool with lots of features"

What do you like best?

Very easy setup of topics, fast support either via phone or mail, new features and releases every threee months, lots of results with good accuracy

crawling of historical data in social media channels is a bit tricky...

"Reasons I use Talkwalker"

What do you like best?

The reason I chose Talkwalker was because it offers the key metrics such as no. of Buzz, Potential Reach, Engagement and Sentiments for all social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, unlike any other social media monitoring tool. We can of course then plot all these metrics against topics, themes, sources, channels, custom filters, demographics, geographic, devices, etc.

There are some features of Talkwalker which I find extremely useful

1. Search queries: I believe there are nearly 100 search query syntaxes that help us to slice and dice the data almost like how we want. I have used almost all, and they all are useful.

2. Custom Filters: We can use all the search queries to form custom filters. This help us to fetch the data which is already there in our main monitor (no need to create new monitor) and then plot all the metrics against the filter.

3. Smart themes: they've recently introduced this feature, and I am fond of it. With this feature, you can see the breakdown the result and metrics by People, emotions, brands/companies, and event without even setting a search query. There’s not great accuracy in it yet, but you get the view of who are the key people and brands mentioned in the buzz.

4. Devices: This is also a new feature they have introduced. With this, you can plot the results and metrics by mobile, tablet, desktop and bots. (really helpful).

5. Content type: You can also plot buzz by content types such as pictures, videos, links, and text. They have this inbuilt in the tool, and also you can get this data by building a query.

6. Channel analytics: this is really good, it offers all necessary metrics about channels you have set. You can set channels for all social media platforms.

7. I like the fact that they are constantly evolving and come up with new features time to time which are truly useful for their clients.

8. Their support team is extremely supportive. You don't have to wait for their response and solution for hours.

What do you dislike?

There are few things I think Talkwalker needs to improve

1. Sentiment analysis: they need work on sentiment analysis by adapting new technologies and ditching old school analysis methods.

2. Data sources: Talkwalker does not offer data from Forums sites and Tumblr. For this, you need to feed external links.

3. They also need to work on accuracy in geographic and demographic data.

"Instant business value through real-time social intelligence"

What do you like best?

it is an incredibly powerful and easy-to-use tool.

It’s worth also mentioning that their support is extremely helpful and for those who are uncertain about how to set up (and maximise) a Boolean search they are on hand to do it for you.

We’ve been incredibly impressed with how intuitive Talkwalker is to use, and their resources (Academy) have been hugely valuable. If you’re looking for a social media analytics tool then look no further, Talkwalker does what it says on the tin (and so much more!) and should be part of every marketer’s toolkit.

What do you dislike?

There isn't really anything to dislike - perhaps a little bit of a learning curve as it does just so much valuable stuff, but that's not really something to dislike!

Their added value is in delivering excellent customer service - something lacking at many of their competitors.

"Why I use Talkwalker?"

What do you like best?

- Easy to use the query creation, the data visualizing and the alert system.

"For a free program, pretty thorough"

What do you like best?

The price is really unbeatable since it's free

What do you dislike?

Talkwalker doesn't always catch every piece that I need monitored, so I'll oftentimes have to search individual websites to find a piece that I secured

"What a relief"

What do you like best?

Finally! Talkwalker, is the analytical tool we'd been looking for, Reach, Engagement, Audience activity. It's all in there. Perfect for Twitter monitoring and reporting with instant live data. I love the media options and how I am able to extract data on a per account basis.

What do you dislike?

There isn't a great deal to dislike in that the interface is simple and easy to use, the main thing I don't like is the fact I have a cap on my callouts, but that's my problem in the package I have, not theres.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Although very advanced and built to last, you still feel part of the early development when using TalkWalker, in that your suggestions are taken on board, and the amount of new features that are always appearing in the dashboard, giving a richer and better experience to the end client in way of insight. The only thing I would say if you are running a social campaign, and especially Twitter, the analytics that you can offer the client, pre post and during campaign are remarkable.

We are able to show the success of our social campaigns, how they compare to the client's competition and show the true value in using our services with the in-depth analysis supplied to us by TalkWalker. Benefits created are diverse with reporting becoming a stand alone product that the client is willing to pay for.

"A fantastic tool and support team"

What do you like best?

I like the technology. Talkwalker has a great back-end system that allows the dashboard to work seamlessly. I can trust the data that comes in and know that I can filter it in many different ways.

What do you dislike?

The onyl think I don't like is the lack of "publication" name in the excel export. HOWEVER, because they are a technology company, this is something that they have already started to work on because we asked for it. They have great customer service.

It is a fantastic product supported by a great group of people. They really work with you to make sure you have the support you need. And, if you need something else, they will work with their technicians to make it happen. You can include all online news, social media, print media and broadcast. The dashboard interface and reporting structure is amazing.

One major business problem was the amount of time my team on analytics experts were spending on setting up simple reports because the Marketing account teams could not figure out how to use our old system. With Talkwalker, they have been able to easily use the dashboards and analytics page. We help them set it up, and then they take over. It has not only saved my team time, but it has saved them hours from manually compiling reports that were presentable enough for the client. We have seen a decrease in over servicing accounts.

"Great tool and excellent customer service!"

What do you like best?

It's easy to set-up queries that help identify key influencers for my clients. I have also found that my account manager, Brittany Peters is excellent. Whenever I have an issue or need time sensitive help, she's always there to assist. She'll even set-up queries for me when I'm in a time crunch. I absolutely love working with her!

What do you dislike?

There's nothing that I can say I really dislike, but if I could make any improvement, I would enable its searches to drill down results to the age of each user. For example, if I wanted to pull the sentiment of millennials using a certain product, I'd ove to be able to just pull the results of users aged 18-25.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you're looking to add social analytics to your capabilities, Talkwalker is the way to go! It enriches the insights you're able to provide and the customer team is wonderful!

"A powerful social intelligence platform"

What do you like best?

UX, UI, and design is at the forefront of this platform. It's very beautiful visually, and great for any user, even those with minimal data experience.

What do you dislike?

Not much to say in this category, honestly.

The sales team is happy to build robust dashboards for training and demo purposes. Take advantage of this in your trial. It's exceptionally helpful.

"React to every mention of your company"

What do you like best?

As my company is young enough, we've decided to get started with Alerts tool, which is free and seems to be a great alternative to Google Alerts. And we use free social search. It's a great option to jump start monitoring of your brand mentions and, besides, it's extremely easy to set up.

What do you dislike?

It's kinda pricey... An early stage company can't afford to use all the functionality of the service and it's a pity.

The ability to listen and response to your customers is crucial nowadays. You can also keep track of your competitors to stay abreast of their news.

"The most friendly platform I've ever used"

I like the opportunity to select contents and images and use them to automatically generate a report.

Sometimes I have problems in saving images (since they are not complete or with a low definition)

"Great tool for web monitoring and market analysis"

What do you like best?

It's a very powerful tool for web monitoring, very useful on controlling web reputation, thanks to its alert feature. I found it very useful also for benchmark on social media, influencer analysis and market analysis (you can analyze in depth sectors and industries, with tag cloud, influencer, sentiment analysis and so on).

What do you dislike?

Sometime it's a little bit slow and it doesn't update some data (sentiment overall) when I make manual changes.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Try first the 30days' trial and ask support of you own country team. It would be fundamental for the first approach with setup and analysis.

- high number of channels and topics can be monitored

- clean design, easy to use platform (after some practice)

- very responsive and useful costumer support

- limited data available from Facebook and Linkedin (but that is the case with most monitoring tools)

- some KPI definitions differ in Talkwalker from native platform

"Great tool with a few adjusts to solve"

What do you like best?

Easy to use

It's our main tool for social media listening tool on earned and owned media, today fits all our needs, it's use to use and offers a lot of extras who help in the day to day routine.

"Disappointing product, didn't meet needs"

What do you like best?

Talkwalker was relatively easy to use and did the basics well.

What do you dislike?

Talkwalker was disappointing for our needs, as we did not get the social media coverage we needed. We often found important mentions of our clients via other methods, often by simply typing the client's name into a search.

Do your due diligence before using talkwalker. Be sure that it is the right product for your needs before buying it. We quickly realized that it was not the right product, but were not able to get out of our contract as we'd just signed it.

"Powerful and simple"

What do you like best?

Talkwalker is a really powerful tool with lots of features. It can be both be used as an autmatic tool to extract trends and scenario in a while, or it can be used with advanced filters, parameters and funcionalities to dig into huge datasets. It works both as a daily tool for basic users and as a professional analytics tool for experts.

"Amazing tagging and sorting functionality"

What do you like best?

The Talkwalker platform provides incredibly powerful and easy to use tagging and filtering functionality. This was particularly useful to me as I develop processes to draw insights from analytics.

What do you dislike?

There is nothing to dislike about the Talkwalker. My only peeves, and this applies to most tools in this space, are (1) the amount of noise (i.e. coupons, spam and other irrelevant content), and (2) the expiration of content, but that is not something that is in Talkwalker or any other platform's control.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I tend to focus more on meta data that on the actual content and look for statistically significant patterns. The tagging and filtering options in Talkwalker have been extremely useful in quickly and accurately zeroing in on the most insightful findings.

"A great product"

What do you like best?

Talkwalker interface provides all the data and indicators we need to offer our client relevant analysis about their e-reputation. The tool is very easy to use and you may customize reports, alerts, dashboards, etc.

Plus, Talkwalker support team is always available.

What do you dislike?

There are not many drawbacks. One thing to know though is that when you need a bigger package than the one you’re currently using, you need to commit for 12 months. That can be a real inconvenience when there is an event increasing the number of results for a short period of time.

Talkwalker support team is always available, which makes it easy to start with the product, and to deal with any question you may have. They try to adapt to your needs as much as possible.
