"Great software, but more importantly, great customer engagement and support"

What do you like best?

ThoughtFarmer software is simple and intuitive to use with a lot of flexibility for customizations for each organizations' needs. However, what I like the most is the customer engagement aspect in that they understand the software is just a small component of a successful implementation. They are able to bring in a team to ensure the business processes are sound, such as proper governance, retention, authority for updates, etc.

What do you dislike?

Home page customizations are not as granular as we would like and at the time of our implement, they did not have an in-house solution for automated workflow and electronic forms / signatures. However with their latest release, that may have changed.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

One of our sections was in desperate need of a good social-based knowledge management platform to share information in a variety of disparate formats. Previously, the section would store the information in a wide range of places including sharepoint, file systems, emails, etc. Now they have a central location that accommodates all their needs.

We are also aiming to replace our intranet with ThoughtFarmer.

"Your Core Collaboration Tools for the Entire Organization."

What do you like best?

We like the ThougthFarmer Content Management System. It is easy to use and apply at work. Employees can manage the content security by themselves. The search function also works very well. The system also is very stable in our environment. Please do not expect it to have a Facebook user interface. Facebook changes weekly which you could not maintain.

What do you dislike?

If ThoughtFarmer could have an Mobile Application, not web application, it will gain another benefit. We are still waiting.

The other thing is the User Type. If it could have a viewer license for some workers ie Opration Team just want to keep update and do not want to write content. It could reduce the license cost and will improve the ROI much higher.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Please consider to set your requirement properly. In our case, we focus on Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration. This tool is served.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It helps us to maintain the Knowledge Sharing and collaborate across the organization. We could share several Success Stories and Lessons Learnt and control the access easily. The Company, HR, Financial and HR Announcement are announced through the News function. This can be done by themselves, not IT. We can share the new knowledge from the Internet into our organization. We can keep track of our team tasks within Group Features. The benefit of the system is depend on your imagination to make it happen. We are satisfied with the functions and features of this software.

What Employee Intranet solution do you use?

"You could say that ThoughtFarmer has recreated the way Organizations Communicate"

What do you like best?

The staff at ThoughtFarmer have been everything you could ever wanted when it comes to online support and just superb customer service. Even if one of our contacts was on vacation, they took it upon themselves to reach out to let us know that our concern/situation was being taken care of.

What do you dislike?

The pricing is higher than we usually spend on a platform like ThoughtFarmer, but we keep renewing our contract with TF and I hope we stay with them for as long as I'm here.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure your entire management team utilizes it and doesn't just brush it off.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The acknowledgement report feature has been a great tool for us to take advantage of. Also being able to create different pages for our various areas that we have - which are only going to get larger in number - has been great for us to stay consistent and being able to give the different areas what they need to see/hear/use and not just dump everything on them. I just wish our staff would understand the potential of it.

"Flexibility and UI is Spot on"

What do you like best?

The user interface is one of the easiest to use. My favorite piece of this software is the search function -the quick, predictive search is great for both admins and end users.I also like the flexibility to design the site in a way that fits our business needs. Our users like to use our intranet, and it certainly helps keep everyone on the same page.

What do you dislike?

I would like to see the site integrate with more Microsoft products. It's a selfish request, as our company is a Microsoft shop.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our company is spread across 20 states in the US, so it's often difficult to keep everyone on the same page and make everyone feel like part of the company. ThoughtFarmer helps employees in other states stay up to date with announcements, policy changes, etc. The system helps employees feel as though they are not so far away.

"Google of our company"

What do you like best?

We love how our Thoughtfarmer is basically the Google of our company. The search functionality was the most important feature when we moved over, and it doesn’t disappoint. Staff can find any and all information instantly, which is very important when there is a member waiting.

What do you dislike?

Some of the user settings are a little clunky when syncing up to Active Directory. It’s been an ongoing process to see what works for us in terms of notifications, information, and custom cards.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I was hesitant to do another complete overhaul of our intranet after only doing so two years prior. The work is worth it!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our initial problem of staff being able to find relevant information easily and quickly was solved instantly at launch. The internal communication benefit was a nice surprise. Staff members send each other notes and words of encouragement. It's really nice to see!

"Hands down, the best intranet I've worked with!"

What do you like best?

ThoughtFarmer's CMS is easy to use, intuitive, and engaging. The social component for employees to be able to like, comment and share information opens the door for more cross-functional and bottom-up communication that we struggled with in the past. The team is constantly looking for ways to improve and each release has come with great enhancements since our launch in 2016. As well, their support team is second to none!

What do you dislike?

I'd like to see a way to push headline news to the rotating banner on the homepage from multiple sources so not all posts from a specific news blog is showcased in the rotation. Also would like the ability to generate an email newsletter to all employees with stories that we select vs stories that are "popular".

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Increased internal communication, employee engagement, significantly improved search capabilities, streamlined content management processes...to name a few! :)

"Great system, user friendly and always upgrading to meet client needs."

What do you like best?

I love that ThoughtFarmer is continuously evolving their platform to meet the needs of their clients and to become more intuitive, robust and user-friendly. It is easy to use from both an administration and user perspective and their support team is great. After 7 years we continue to see increased engagement and new ways to utilize the platform.

What do you dislike?

Nothing comes to mind. There are minor suggestions for improvement, but those are often implemented in future releases.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

ThoughtFarmer plays a key role in our internal communications and employee engagement. Being a national organization, the platform allows us to connect and interact in ways we could not otherwise. In addition, it is used as a storage centre for key corporate information and materials.

"Way Easier to Use *and* is Used WAY More Often than Sharepoint Site"

What do you like best?

Simplicity. Single Sign On. Super Support. Amazing Customer Service.

Facebook is working on their own social Intranet @Work, but it pales in comparison (in our opinion) to the flexibility of ThoughtFarmer.

From the initial sales overview all the way through implementation, ThoughtFarmer and the many amazing people there have always looked for ways to help us make our dreams for what our Intranet could be come to life.

This platform plays nicely with our Active Directory, making it easy to onboard new employees and term any who leave. It's also easy to use, add/edit content, and design flourishes that match our brand.

What do you dislike?

There's very little to dislike, honestly. There have been some things we wished they had when we first signed up (custom templates, threaded comments, image libraries), but they have either added them without us asking as part of their roadmap OR added them because we asked in a Feature Request. They typically a major update, as well as a pretty significant additional update, every year, along with almost monthly builds that get deployed.

Recommendations to others considering the product

They have a number of clients in the education, healthcare, and financial industries and all of their software is SOC II compliant for those concerned about security.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were looking to replace our Sharepoint Intranet with something that people would actually login to, update information, share, collaborate, and work together. Sharepoint works fine for us to share documents, but no one is connecting or engaging in it. It is not a place where people start their day or look for information that helps them do their job. Our company saw multiple acquisitions on mergers in a short period of time and ThoughtFarmer helped us re-establish and redefine our company culture. We have a workforce that is 50% remote ThoughtFarmer has helped us stay connected.

"An intranet that makes a TRUE difference "

What do you like best?

Working with ThoughtFarmer has been one of the best vendor relationships we've experienced in a LONG time! When we sought out to implement an intranet for our company we wanted to keep in mind that our workforce (over 2100 employees) is spread across all 50 states and mostly remote. This can make it hard to have open lines of communication creating a barrier for a preferred culture of transparency. Insert ThoughtFarmer and the social intranet! Together we designed a space that invites and encourages communications from the top down. Our employees are empowered to share office happening, kudos to their peers and much more. Not only are we able to share major company news, our employees are able to engage in daily conversation with one another.

Working with ThoughtFarmer on new ideas or needs has been nothing short of amazing! Anytime we approach them with a new feature idea or request, they work to make it happen! Their customer service team is personal, responsive and easy to collaborate with. We are always happy to come to them if we need anything.

What do you dislike?

Can't think of anything I dislike about working with ThoughtFarmer

Recommendations to others considering the product

Ask questions, they are super responsive and helpful!

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

- Open and centralized communication

- Employee engagement and moral

- Content Management

"Truly a User-Focused Platform Without Sacrificing Functionality"

What do you like best?

When people within an organization come with varying levels of online skills, you need a product that is going to be focused on the users but still perform the way you want. The ThoughtFarmer content management system is a lovable interface with powerful search capabilities that has created a truly valuable intranet for our organization. That said, the BEST thing about ThoughtFarmer was the value the team brought with their professional services - this is where you will get a truly well-organized and operational piece of software that staff will be able to navigate and contribute to ensure ongoing usability and updated content.

What do you dislike?

ThoughtFarmer does everything we need it to do. From a marketing perspective, it would be good to have some form functionality built right into the software, however there are ways to embed third party forms right into ThoughtFarmer.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As an organization in multiple locations, sharing a large number of processes and documents, we were trying to create a user-friendly interface to help people stay on top of communications, and be able to search for answers in ONE location with efficacy. There has been such a positive benefit to having one location with permission-based access to relevant information in one system. We have gained considerable time back in our operations, as well as created ownership of processes and content that never had the attention that was deserved.

"Awesome intranet, super customizable, easy to use"

What do you like best?

The layout is easy to manipulate from an administrative standpoint. I especially enjoy the blog function and the ability to add blogs and link to pages from other parts of the intranet directly into the news on the front page. I like being able to add pictures to the thumbnails for links to pages. I like that I can @users to send out a shout out to them.

What do you dislike?

I don't like that when transferring ownership of a page over to another owner, the next owner takes over the previous owner's comments and the comments look like they were made from the new owner when they were actually made by the previous owner.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Do it! It's such an easy one to use and learn. You can do a lot with it but you definitely need a designated person or two to be in charge of it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are solving the problem of lack of leadership staff communication. Now leadership can communicate monthly though the CEO blog we have set up.

"Easy install, easy to use!"

What do you like best?

We selected ThoughtFarmer based on the fact that it had probably the most intuitive interface that would be easy for Communications and all the content owners to use. The build was a breeze and done in a fraction of the time and for a fraction of the cost of a SharePoint site.

What do you dislike?

We find the document management system a little clunky to use and a little slow. ThoughtFarmer's new Office 365 integration however, looks pretty sleek, so we may give that a try this year to see if the UX can be improved for documents.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Time savings in set up is worth the cost alone. For those looking to implement a de-centralized model, using ThoughtFarmer is a breeze for non-techies and content owners.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We really wanted to build a community for a disparate workforce and I feel that ThoughtFarmer has really helped to deliver this. We've got a growing community of users and commenters and have exponentially grown our user base from the old horrible SharePoint intranet we had prior.

"Pretty user friendly with good features."

What do you like best?

The ability to customize notifications and now tag people. We have been able to centralize communication throughout the organization using ThoughtFarmer and this has been one of the most helpful ways in which we have been able to use the platform.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes the page formatting can seem a little bit limited. But the most difficult thing is posting media (photos and videos). The 100 MB cap is hard to work with sometimes and I wish there were a better "album" functionality. I would also like better calendar integration with the calendars on ThoughtFarmer and outlook.

Recommendations to others considering the product

We looked at many and this worked best.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Better cross departmental communication. We have seen significant improvement in this area. We also needed a better "central repository" for information and ThoughtFarmer has been a big help in that area as well.

"Get familiar with formatting ASAP!"

What do you like best?

The running carousel is great at tying all of the pages together. Searching is great, the use of tags is really beneficial

What do you dislike?

the formatting of the pages can be a bit of a nightmare, you aren't allowed to copy and paste easily. The embedding with google can make things easier BUT it can be difficult to get the coding correct so that it fits in the page the way you need it. Adding pictures could be much easier than the format that's currently in use

Recommendations to others considering the product

worth it for international communication, ease of formatting needs help but once you understand it, it does make it easier to work with

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

communication with international team is a HUGE benefit

"Robust and Comprehensive"

What do you like best?

ThoughtFarmer is a good all-in-one-solution. 90% of what you want to do with a corporate intranet has already been considered and built-in. The simplicity at first glance belies the complexity and robustness that underpins it.

What do you dislike?

Very little - ThoughtFarmer does what it does very well.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Review other solutions but talk to the guys at ThoughtFarmer at the very least, they are incredibly accommodating and passionate about intranets!

"Adopted"

What do you like best?

--Easy to use. Mostly intuitive.

--Directory options which allow users to add tons of info on themselves.

--Easy to administrate permission to edit content or not.

What do you dislike?

--Language shift icon is not intuitive. Most people don't see it or recognize what it's for.

--Clicking on dynamic banner on home page doesn't permit to be redirected to a web page of our choice; we have to land first on the web page that created the dynamic banner.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Plan a launch with fun activities online, contests, to facilitate acceptance from users.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"My company uses Thought Farmer for our intranet platform"
