"A simple and reliable image hosting platform"

What do you like best?

I like that Tumblr allows us to upload a ton of photos, which can save a bunch of server space. It is also an extremely simple and organized place for people to go and view your posts. It's easy to tag photos so they are searchable by users that might be interested in your posts.

What do you dislike?

Tumblr is somewhat of an odd platform that isn't the most widely used by the mainstream. Though I enjoy its simplicity, it would be nice to have options to make your page and posts more customized to help match the branding of our business.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Tumblr isn't difficult to sign up for and use, so it's worth starting an account to build a presence there.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Tumblr has been a platform that allows us to quickly post information about a wide variety of topics. We can easily link to the post from a number of different platforms, like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. It mainly serves as a supplementary third-party media platform.

"Eh."

What do you like best?

I have used Tumblr to post artwork for around five years, and it is fairly easy to build up a following there so long as you post things that are popular. People tend to interact with posts a lot more than on other websites (particularly with leaving tags on things giving their thoughts on whatever it is you posted, whether positive or constructive criticism).

What do you dislike?

Tumblr has a whole lot of drama that probably isn't worth it to the average company. Its users have a unique sense of humor that, unless you (like me) are a millennial who is well acquainted with that kind of humor, can be confusing and prohibitive to gaining any following on Tumblr.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Tumblr is my main source to post my artwork. Unlike other websites such as Twitter and Facebook, it has no expectation of being social as well if you only use it for art — meaning you can post artwork whenever you complete a piece and then dedicate the rest of your time elsewhere.

What Social Networks solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"I love tumblr! Great API and flexibility"

What do you like best?

Tumblr has an absolutely massive community. For starting a new blog and sustaining and old one, tumblr makes a lot of sense. You can get absolutely absurd reach with even just a few hundred followers. I love using Tumblr to run my blog New Old Stock, and I use IFTTT to queue up posts.

What do you dislike?

It is impossible to customize themes. Theme customization and working on the front end leaves so much to be desired. Luckily the API is really strong and easy to use. I built out a simple front end in a half hour using React because theme customization was such headache.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Tumblr has a huge community and tons of free themes to get you up and running quickly. Don't waste time building a massive custom wordpress theme if all you need is a simple place to post photos or journal entries. Tumblr gives you a somewhat unique URL and you can customize a ton of stuff out of the box.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I'm trying to grow a big community and following. Tumblr was perfect for that. My starter theme got me up and running.

"Tumblr Makes it Easy to Have a Blog"

What do you like best?

Tumblr has an easy interface and it is easy to sign up. One does not have to be an expert in coding and design to have a beautiful blog. This would be easy to have a blog about your business or office and quickly share it to others to promote your office or business.

What do you dislike?

Be aware that much of Tumblr is used for people's personal accounts and thus there can be lots of non-business like information and pictures on the Tumblr site (i.e. not safe for work photos on some Tumblr blog sites).

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be aware of all the social media site, Tumblr is one of the least popular but it is still very popular. It is not unheard of but it is not nearly as popular as Facebook or Instagram. It is pretty easy to use and one could quickly develop the site/blog they want.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Tumblr is mostly used for people's personal accounts and is not often used as a business platform (think of Facebook 'Pages'). This does make it difficult to get a business set up on the site but if the business or office uses Instagram or Facebook and those are successful, the business could also use Tumblr to quickly write blogs and post photos for their customers/clients to see.

"Simple, easy, but falling behind"

What do you like best?

Super easy. You can be up and running with your own 'blog' very quickly.

Custom URLs are not too hard to do.

I suggest Tumblr to my friends who want to start a blog, but don't want to get to deep into issues like hosting, software, updates, etc.

A few tech blogs use Tumblr as their blogging solution.

What do you dislike?

Tumblr is lagging in features. You can add popups, or lead capture pages. You can't add any plugins at all. The API is pretty good, but not many people are building cool things with it.

It is very easy to do a few clicks and end up in the darker corners of the internet on Tumblr.

And it is REALLY hard to generate an audience on Tumblr. Anyone participating on Instagram can gain a few hundred followers, Tumblr you can participate the same amount and have no followers.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Great easy way to get started. If you want to add any functionality, you will have to move away from Tumblr.

For example, if you want someone to enter their email address to get a coupon, this will be very hard to do in Tumblr, while you could easily add a plugin on Wordpress.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

If you need an easy blog, you can use Tumblr. If you get the right skin and a custom URL people won't even know it is Tumblr if not for the reblog or follow floating button that Tumblr places everywhere.

"Quick blogging tool that has relevance"

What do you like best?

I like that you can customize your Tumblr page quickly and get something posted without having to do a lot of formatting. It's a powerful tool to get you started with your blog.

What do you dislike?

I do not like the process of switching from the editing mode to the WYSIWYG mode. They seem to be too different. I also thought that there would be more free templates.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Take a tutorial on how to use it so you don't get too far along in building your pages and then find that you have to go backwards and rebuild.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I needed a way to get a blog up and running quickly and inexpensively and this was the perfect product for that.

"Good platform"

What do you like best?

It's easy to use and I like the big photos that I can post, and videos etc.

What do you dislike?

I find it a bit difficult to remember how to do certain things - there seem to be too many options of screens or something.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are trying to increase our SEO. We haven't noticed any differences as yet.....

"A great place to share your artistic, fun, creative side... Easy to use, and agile. "

What do you like best?

It's the best social network to share images, sounds, and videos. It is ideal for artists and topic-oriented communities. Young audience, and always fresh content makes this network an easy to use and friendly relax-creative portal.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes post are too off-topic, or not so well categorized.

Recommendations to others considering the product

While the competitors are trying to catch up, Tumblr was one of the first stable, media-rich, content platforms. And it will remain (in my opinion) a step ahead.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It helps me with my marketing demands. This platform can help you to create viral organic content.

"Easy way to house quotes, photos, media and more"

What do you like best?

It's easy to use, plus I like that it keeps all my posts organized chronologically with tags in my digital notepad. I keep the app on my iPhone so I can easily add quotes, media or whatever I want to save on-the-go.

What do you dislike?

It used to have the capability of sharing posts to Facebook via the mobile app, but now it seems limited to Twitter. Boooo.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Tumblr is an easy way to save/catalog things you feel are important - photos, media, quotes, etc. It's also fun to share posts with friends and see what other Tumblr users are posting.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

None with this app.

"Tumblr: the reason I miss real blogs"

What do you like best?

I like the easy of reposting something. Tumblr is built for re-posts.

What do you dislike?

I dislike everything else about Tumblr, basically. It's built for non-content. There is no way to discuss anything. There is no way to stop seeing the same thing 100 times. The interface is the equivalent of a department store fluorescent light. The whole thing is just unpleasant.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would recommend people use Tumblr in order to keep all social media bases covered, but would not recommend it for disseminating any real or useful information.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Tumblr is used, like all social networking platforms, to disseminate information about our business and brand and keep tabs on our market space.

""Mini"-blogging with a distinctive subculture"

What do you like best?

I love the positioning between "micro" and "regular" blogging, with an option for both, yet staying true the operating principles and easy-to-use. The user culture is very particular, but mostly fun (with some quirky elements).

Having features that are usually paid-for with most other providers (such as using our own domain) and the quality of designs that are still free is brilliant.

The data privacy policies are also commendable, although haven't really been tested yet.

What do you dislike?

I'd love to see a self-hosted option, managed from the same dashboard or separately. It'd be a great peace of mind for data privacy reasons.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you're looking for a no-nonsense, light, social and easy-to-use solution for your content, consider Tumblr. It doesn't have the versatility of Wordpress, but for a still wide range of tasks it may serve better due to the light setup and easy administration and customization.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It's very well-grounded in social media and aggregation, so reaching high visibility with less effort is easy. It plugs in nicely to a range of applications and platforms.

"Wonderful Website"

What do you like best?

Tumblr is a great place to network and to reach thousands of viewers per day for anyone looking to reach people of all ages.

What do you dislike?

I dislike the amount of spam followers and/or messages that you are likely to receive.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

My home business had trouble finding ways to reach the public and Tumblr helped open doors that other social media platforms were unable to compare to.

"Long time user"

What do you like best?

Its an easy to use blog site, set up is quick.

What do you dislike?

Can easily turn into something that is not safe for work.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Have a general Idea of what you want to do with your Tumblr, layouts and design are pretty easy to choose

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Easy to market things to a large user base, and a good way to interact with people too.

"Could not ask for an easier format for picture and gif sharing"

What do you like best?

This application is so straight forward it is laughable. I use tumblr all of the time to share quick pictures or gifs.

What do you dislike?

Honestly one of the bigger drawbacks is the community size. There are so many competitors out there it is difficult at times to get everyone on the same application.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be sure to spread the word. Much like Twitter and Facebook, Tumblr is something that a lot of people have heard of but do not know what it necessarily does or what they would use the features for.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our business is extremely collaborative. Although we use this more for fun then exact business sense, it's something that is used on a daily basis.

"My ex favorite social media"

What do you like best?

When it comes to GIF, Tumblr is the best social media platform. I love to mix and maintain a ratio of one GIF for one image, it just shows incredibly nice on screen. With a design emphasizing on the source, Tumblr educated users not only to reblog but to promote content creators in providing links to the source of any creation. The search was also emphasizing on what's new, which was great to find new people to connect with.

What do you dislike?

Tumblr changed its design. The place is now about getting as much as followers as possible to rank high on searches. This encouraged new users to manipulate the system in reposting instead of rebloging. Good luck to find the creator of any content.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I still love Tumblr but I am so disappointed the way go Tumblr and social media.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Personal use. Tumblr was my major source for backlinks.

"A unique platform"

What do you like best?

It's room for creative content. The way you're allowed to interact with it. There is a different feel and idea behind tumblr that once you understand it, lets you expand your creative.

What do you dislike?

limitation on asset uploads (gif size, video size, dimensions) Community is hard to manage because of the volume

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Sometimes its hard for the clietn tot hink outside the box or place content that does not fit into the other main buckets but is creatively appealing

"Good for personal + small business use; still experimental for the enterprise."

What do you like best?

Easy to use, post and monitor. Tumblr also has a great network of content creators and consumers that's second to none. If used properly, it's a valuable marketing tool for brands whose audience is in the proper demo.

What do you dislike?

The lack of a self-hosted option means Tumblr will continue to stay mainly in the realm of personal use, or professional use by more forward-thinking brands or companies.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Tumblr is a great, low rent CMS solution that's useful for personal and small business use, but still a bit experimental for the enterprise.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I've used it to syndicate news and other content. It's good for that, but only with the proper tags. (Not to mention, the links are followed - a plus for SEO.)

"The most entertaining scroling"

What do you like best?

The eclectic amount of information you can subscribe to and continue to be kept in the loop on. This is the most up to date and exciting scrolling you can do on a weekend.

What do you dislike?

The inundated amount of information that is kept and recycled through.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Keep an open mind somethings may not always be to your liking or appropriate.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I keep up to date on information and technology that is being introduced.

What do you like best?

Free to use, wide variety of templates to choose from

What do you dislike?

Recommendations to others considering the product

Are better options for CMS, i.e., WordPress, that have wide variety of templates as well
